It seriously does not get better than this experience here. Shared with my girl and had the butter garlic and the spicy one which were both incredibly awesome. The more I ate the spicy one the more I enjoyed it.

Was the first time I went there and I definitely plan on going back on every trip to Hawaii.

    I've tried Macky's, Romy's and Giovanni's.

Macky's was the better of the three. Tasty, well balanced flavor, friendly service and clean tables.

Romy's was my next favorite. Tasty and the shrimp were fresh. Only downside was they took a long time to make it.

Giovanni's was the worst. The spicy shrimp were overcooked, mealy and way too sour. Service was indifferent and the tables were dirty and sticky.

Been going to Giovanni's for like 10 years.  Boo Giovanni, you suck now.  Now's its time for Macky's sweet, plump shrimp!

Here's what you need to know:

    1)  Don't order the original.  I'm retarded.  I thought the original would be like giovanin's shrimp scampi (ie w/butter & garlic).  Nope, just plained boiled shrimp.  The shrimp was sweet and tasty, but I love me some fat laddened butter and garlic.  Asked the nice Cantonese lady for some and she fried some garlic in butter up for me.  5 stars for rectifying my stupidity!  YUM.

    2)  The best shrimp plate our group was definitely the spicy--it was the butter garlic with a yummy spicy sauce.  The spicy sauce was very different from Giovannis (Giovannis spicy sauce has this almost sour taste that is really good).  This spicy sauce is just downhome, spicy.  Not too spicy, but enough to add a good kick to the shrimp.  YUM.

    3)  Garlic butter shrimp---fat pieces of sweet sweet shrimp pan fried w/butter garlic.  YUM.

    4)  Coconut shrimp---my husband got this and I was like, WHAT? WHY?  Then I took a bite.  Holy cow...you can taste the fatty sweet shrimp even through the coating of coconut.  YUM.  I wouldn't order this myself since I'm a fan of non-fried seafood, but this was good.  It might be fun to order this for a group to split along w/individual orders of that damn good spicy shrimp.

The sides of salad & pineapple were a nice touch, though nothing special.  The tables aren't as dirty as I thought they would be, but still kinda gross.  Bring lots of napkins or wipes for yourself if you care about that kind of stuff.

We drove 2 seconds to the Haleiwa location of Giovannis immediately after, tried Giovanni's sad emaciated shrimp and literally almost drove right back to Macky's to get "thirds."  Giovanni's, you suck.  Macky's is the king of shrimp =)

I wish they made a combination of Hot & Spicy + Butter/Garlic because the two would go so well! My husband ordered the Butter Garlic and found himself dipping his shrimp into my Hot & Spicy (sounds dirrty.. oh yes it was! finger-lickin' dirrtay) Hot and Spicy had enough kick but not enough buttery goodness. Maybe we're biased to the Spicy Garlic Shrimp at Fumi's. Both are good -Fumi's  from what we can remember.. tastes better.

good shrimp for $12 maybe toooooo much lemon that I wanted to die eating it but besides that it was clean, shrimp were HUGE and was a good portion to split between 2 people, the salad was fresh and good, and the people were very nice.

Excellent! I had researched shrimp trucks before our vacation in December and decided on Macky's. We were not disappointed: the shrimp were delicious - easily the best we ever had. Mine were garlic butter, my husband had the spicy ones. We both liked them so much, we made a special trip to eat there again.
The shrimp were big and plump, the sauce delicious. There were two scoops of white rice and a nice side salad and a slice of juicy pineapple.
The tables were clean and so were the restrooms. Best of all, there is a make-shift sink to wash one's hands after eating.
Looking forward to going again during our next vacation.

Aw dang, that was some good shrimp!  Ordered the garlic butter shrimp plate that came with rice, salad and a slice of pineapple.  That combination itself sets it apart from the competition, as the salad and pineapple serve as a refreshing addition (as most shrimp trucks offer only shrimp and rice), but most importantly, the taste and freshness of the shrimp and garlic butter sauce was da domb!  I received 9pcs of shrimp and savored each and every last one - I don't dare let any go to waste;-)

There's a lot of zebra doves (you know, those grey little birds) and occasionally some hens walking underneath the tables, but don't let them bother you, they ain't gonna jump up on the benches or tables, or at least I didn't see any do such while I was there!  As previous reviews point out, please don't come here expecting 5 star restaurant ambiance and exceptional service - this is a shrimp truck that offers tasty food, so just go ahead and enjoy it!  If you prefer not to eat on site, then take your order to go, at the very least.

The majority of the folks during the time I went there were tourists from Japan and the Mainland, with a few locals here and there.  There's a 7Eleven right next to this place, where some people utilized to buy beer to go along with their food, as the shrimp truck only sells bottles of water and cans of soda.  Overall, nothing but an excellent spot to hit up when you be wanting some shrimp while visiting the North Shore.

I needed something to eat on my journeys through the island with my wife and we found Macky's after trying to find another shrimp truck that we heard of. We didn't read much about Macky's, but at that time, I was ready to take anything. Run by a crew of Cantonese speaking ladies, I almost fell into a state of confusion. Am I in some Southeast Asian country or am I in Hawaii? Either way, it almost felt like home.

The menu is simple and easy. Original shrimp, butter garlic, lemon pepper, hot and spicy and coconut. Honestly, butter garlic is the safest way to go. It just works! And depending on how you take it, there is a lot of butter in this...loads on butter! The shrimp was literally swimming in butter! Still, it enhances flavor especially with the sweet, plump shrimp! Oh, so fresh! One thing that was weird was the romaine lettuce on the side. Very ordinary side... Another drawback was the price. It's a little more pricier than Giovanni's.

Usually, I'm the kind of guy that will eat in any location regardless of what condition your surroundings are in, but this area where Macky's decided to camp out is a little crude. Benches and tables look like they would love a little more attention from the cleaning crew and the...restrooms are portable sinks and toilets. There's a 7-Eleven next door, but they are without a public restroom, so if you have to go, you might have to find yourself in a dirty spot...

Good shrimp truck with less than desirable environment. If that doesn't bother you, you found good shrimp!

Here's the deal with Macky's: the shrimp, especially the garlic butter, is good. It's not mind-blowing, but it's solid. However, there are several factors that will keep us from coming back:

    1. Cleanliness of the seating area: The place is swarming with flies and birds, including chickens. In most places, this would be considered a health code violation.
    2. Restrooms: Understandably, this is a food truck, so there are not going to be world-class restrooms. However, their portable toilets are third-world nasty. Consider that the same flies in the toilets are landing on your shrimp. Not a nice thought, no matter how good that garlic butter tastes.
    3. Price: We paid $12 for nine shrimp on a paper plate. This seems a little steep, given the conditions outlined in #1 and #2.

The place has potential, but it's not doing it for me as of now.

Macky popped my shrimp truck cherry!

Chose Macky's out of all the trucks (Giovannis, Kahuku, Hono's, Romy's) because I heard he had the biggest .................    shrimps.   Actually that would be Romy's but besides great Yelp ratings Macky's......

    A. Looked the cleanest. Didn't want to deal with flies ie. Giovannis
    B. Included a salad and pineapple with your garlic shrimp plate.
    C. His truck was used as a prop in one of the Lost episodes, Mrs G loves Lost.
    D. Macky himself. Read that he was a cool dude.

Pretty easy to find, Macky's is it's own truck stop driving up from 99. It's next door to the Tesoro gas station if you wanted to get some drinks, ahem beer to go with your food. There's also plenty of shaded seating along with a sink to wash your hands.

Macky was there cleaning tables and oozed the aloha spirit chatting with customers.  I ordered from the female worker (complete opposite of Macky) - indifferent at all times. When I picked up my food, I smiled and said thanks. She didn't even look up. Just not welcoming. She's one cold mofo.

SIGNATURE GARLIC SHRIMP PLATE - $12.

Twelve shell on butterflied shrimp that have been sauteed in a garlic butter sauce. That's it? It was good but nothing you couldn't do at home. Imo, if they grilled the shrimps it would taste so much better.  The pineapple (from nearby Dole) was the best though, so sweet.  (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)

Overall, the shrimp truck phenomenon is more of the experience. Your outside w/ great weather, good shrimps, good beers, good company = great times.

Solid 3.5 star. 4 star with the Macky experience, 3 star from the Asian woman with the aloha stuck up her *ss.

*Note*  A little bit farther down the road, you'll come across a shrimp truck camp where there's like 3-4 of them. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)

I loved the spicy shrimp - but you need to like spicy for sure!  Wife loved garlic butter variety.  Only place we went to three times during our month long visit.  Just too good and too easy to pass up.   In addition to the shrimp you get two scoops of rice with sauce, a nice romaine lettuce salad and a small wedge of local pineapple (very sweet and juicy).  Shrimp were very nice sized - my wife refers to them as "two-biters" and there were about 10 per serving.  OK to bring you own drinks too.  What's not to like?

    Disappointing.

I was excited because the reviews were better than Giovanni's. False advertisement. The portions are way smaller, like half of what Giovanni's serves.

As far as taste goes, the flavor is there. Hubby and I shared a plate, which meant we had two shrimps each (sarcasm). We had the lemon pepper plate, and it was delicious and cheek puckering. But dang, we were left with hella rice. That's how they fill the plate along with salad. Oops, sorry, just a bunch of lettuce. That ain't a salad, that's cheap garnish. But I did eat the little slice of pineapple to cleanse my palate. I can't front.

It's definitely cleaner in the seating area and I didn't have to fight flies to eat my food.

But I did love the music they played. Renaissance 80's. Ah, nostalgia.

"Kono gohan oishii" crooned the young Japanese ladies sitting behind me.  Translated that means this rice tastes good.

This place serves really good food, except the garlic shrimp is missing a key ingredient.  The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked.  The salad is fresh and delicious.  Excellent food and a great experience.

Simple menu - all shrimp; original, spicy, lemon butter, garlic butter, coconut shrimp.  They are all $12 per plate which includes rice, salad, shrimp and sauce.

Keep in mind, it is a food truck and outdoor so they do not have proper toilets and sink but they have it and it works just as fine.  They are chickens, birds, and who knows what else swarming around but it is as good as it gets for a food truck in North Shore.  They are not 5 stars restaurant.

The shrimp and sauce are tasty.  We ordered coconut shrimp, lemon butter, spicy and garlic butter. My personal favorite is garlic butter.  The size of the shrimp is huuggee, not your typical shrimp in mainland. It was delicious and quick meal! Love it!!

Garlic butter is my favorite.  some amazingly fresh perfectly-cooked shrimp, doused in garlic butter , served with a heap of steamed rice with garlic butter on top and a salad to top it all off.  Can't beat that!  For twelve dollars, it's well worth the price.  In fact, my vegetarian wife even had some!  The spicy is good too for a change of pace.  Can't get enough.  Don't come here for the ambiance or the service.  That's not the point.  Just enjoy your amazing shrimp!

Shrimps or shrimp (both are correct)  were fresh and the flavors were explosive.

Eight shrimp accompanied by two scoopies of rice, side salad, and a pineapple garnish for $12.  It's Chinese style cooking.  I was eavesdropping on the owner and cooks conversing in mandarin.  The garlic was delicious.  The lemon pepper was lip puckering.  The original was fresh and unadulterated.  The dining area is a dusty corner lot..cough cough.

Macky is the first truck before you enter Halei-VA next to the 7/11.  You will be passing by a dozen other shrimp trucks including Romy's, Giovanni's, and Fumi's by the time you leave North Shore so share a plate and make room in your stomach if you're going to hit them all.  This will be a perfect time to reinact the bulimic chapter of your life.

Supporters of local shrimp fishmen eat at Romy's and Giovanni's.  Their crustaceans are caught locally and kept alive until time of slaughter..psh..five years ago.  To keep up with demand and tourist all the trucks purchase their shrimp from local markets and costco.  I haven't seen a tank of live shrimp yet.

Overall flavor goes to Macky's.  Atmosphere goes to all the trucks along North Shore.

The first truck we tried after hanging out at Waimea Bay. My friends back home either like this truck or Giovanni's. We decided to eat at both and see which one we liked better. My friend's enjoyed Macky's more. You get a healthy portion of shrimp, salad, and rice. The food is made to order.

My friends ordered the lemon and butter garlic shrimp plates. I tried both and liked the garlic butter one more. The shrimp pieces are really big. It's good but I slightly like Giovanni's more.

This was definitely one of the best meals that I had during my vacation in Hawaii. When I grew up in Honolulu as a kid, I had never ventured out to North Shore much... but now I know what I had been missing out on...

But really, just order the garlic shrimp because it's freaking amazing and it's better than other shrimp trucks because they serve salad and pineapple with the shrimp/rice combo. The salad is super refreshing in addition to the deliciously awesome shrimp.

Love love love, we loved it so much that we came here twice during the week... yup, drove all the way up for Macky's. So worth it.

This place has the most AMMMMAAAAZZZZIIINNNNGGGG garlic shrimp! I wish I lived on Oahu so I could eat there all the time! We tried Macky's for the first time this past trip to Oahu. My fiancee ordered the original thinking it would be their signature item, but it was just boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce... which wasn't bad, it was just plain and wasn't anything special. The garlic butter shrimp on the other hand, was soooooo good!

Drove to North Shore to find this truck..we were on the hunt!!  ha!  it was maybe a 1/2 hour to 45 minute drive, but well worth it.

We ordered their famous garlic shrimp and we also ordered the lemon pepper shrimp as well.  First of all, they do not skimp on the shrimp.  I believe there was 10 on my plate.  The garlic shrimp was the BEST - YUM!  The lemon pepper was just okay and it came out warm compared to the garlic shrimp which was hot.

Also, they have a coupon on the Oahu Gold Mag for $2 off which was even more worth it.

Loved: Their spicey shrimp is a must get! The seasoning was hella good. It is spicey but, unlike my boyfried, it wasn't hella spicey....I think it was just right.

Their garlic shrimp was alright. I love garlic so I didnt think it had enough plus it needed a bit more seasoning/flavor. The salad was cool and the rice was plain; nothing exciting.

Would have given them 5 stars if their garlic shrimp was on point; unfortunately, it wasn't great for me.

It is a must try if you're ever in Hawaii.

    Wowwzers !

Talk about juicy shrimp from a truck. On our way to North Shore decided to make a small pit stop to Macky's Shrimp Truck and sure enough it was one of the best pit stops ever !  I believe the owners are Chinese as they were speaking Mandarin to each other. Very friendly service.  Outside seating under a canopy provides a cool atmosphere. They also provide an outdoor sink to wash your shrimpy fingers after you are done devouring your plate.

My fave was the spicy shrimp plate..

    http://www.yelp.com/us...

great spice to it served with rice covered with their special spicy sauce drenched all over the shrimp and rice. Salad and pineapple to finish it off.

Also try the lemon pepper and the garlic butter as well, you wont be disappointed.  Price is $12 for each plate. But well worth it !  The truck is parked next to the 7-eleven so feel free to get some refreshments and a spam and egg musubi as well !

Let me first start off with this....  I used to be a huge fan of Giovanni's for a long, long time...  I've heard a lot of great things about Macky's, but I never had the desire to stop by and try it until just recently.

The last 2 times that I've been out to Giovanni's I realized that their shrimp just wasn't as good as it used to be...

So last weekend we decided to try out Macky's...  Holy cow....  Their garlic shrimp was friggin bomb....  Perfect texture, perfectly cooked and the garlic sauce was awesome enough that it would have made a vampire just keel over and die!  I think the only thing that could make it better is if they gave you a couple of lemon wedges to squeeze over it, but really that's just personal preference.

Most definitely my new favorite stop when traveling out to my favorite beach spots on the island!

One of the cleaner shrimp truck places I had eaten at...I didn't appreciate Giovanni's "cleanliness." The best shrimp plate would have to be the Garlic Shrimp. It was perfectly cooked and the shrimp was huge. I like the side salad that they give you and the pineapple slice too. It usually "finishes" off my meal when I have a piece of fruit to wash out the saltiness in my mouth.
The service was quick and fast too...we didn't have to wait that long.

AMAZING, unbelievablely Awesome and Mouth-watering.  Wow, that's some good shrimp!!  I actually just started liking shrimp and I am SO GLAD that I do b/c missing out on this would have been no bueno!

These shrimps are HUGE - like baby lobsters, I tell ya.  Even the shrimp are happier in Hawaii...lol.  We got the garlic butter and lemon pepper and both are too die for!  The garlic one was the superior of the two, but only b/c of the garlicky rice.  But when you eat the lemon shrimp with the garlic rice, it's like a shrimpgasm!  Yup, that's right - just do it!

For $12.95 a dish, you get and generous helping of your choice of shrimp (garlic an dlemon are the BEST!), a huge helping of rice and a pineapple.  You have to peel the suckers yourself, but it's sooooo worth it!  This is the epitome of finger-lickin' good!  So worth the drive to the North Shore.  Oh, and all those pretty beaches and picturesque views along the way don't hurt either!

OHH EMM GEEE! The kahuku shrimp from Macky's shrimp truck are to die for. I recently went to Oahu for vacation and was eager to try Giovanni's and Romy's since all of my friends were telling me that that was the truck to try. My brother took me and my girlfriends to Romy's instead. The shrimp was so sweet and succulent. It was a heavenly experience. I went back 2 days later to have another meal. I definitely recommend this truck and I will definitely come back to suck down some sweet shrimp the next time I come to visit the North Shore. =)

    Shrimp heaven!!

I was so looking forward to this when I went to North Shore.  There wasn't a particular reason I picked Macky's over Giovanni's the other Food Shrimp Truck but some people have a favorite.

Macky's was perfect right after being at the "Turtle" beach nearby.  It was fast to order, give you a ticket, and then get your food.  I'm assuming they just have boxes and boxes of food freshly stacked up.

It was super hot in September so it was nice to be on the shady benches.

Its right next to 7-11 and a gas station so we were able to get gas after and pick up some good drinks to go with our food.

$12 bucks for a styrofoam box full of rice, shrimps, salad, and a piece of pineapple.  Hopefully from Dole since its right down the street. ;)

There were choices such as classic- seemed like regular steam shrimp, garlic, spicy, lemonbutter, etc.

My boyfriend got the garlic and spicy and omg so good. Finished everything.

You know what we had to have right after?? Matsumoto's shaved ice!! See that review..

I was really tempted to go back to Giovanni's since I just fell in love with their shrimp scampi. But I thought it would be worth it to try out a different truck to at least get a comparison. My auntie said that Macky's is the only other one worth trying so we came here.

I got the butter garlic shrimp and my uncle got the spicy shrimp. I honestly don't remember Giovanni's having such a variety of shrimp, but apparently they do after looking at their menu again. The shrimp was really good, don't get me wrong, but I guess I wasn't as blown away as I was when I first had Giovanni's. However, that might be because it was more of a novelty the first time. This butter garlic shrimp tasted less garlic-y but still good. I loved the spicy shrimp even though it was too much for my uncle to take. I haven't tasted the spicy shrimp at Giovanni's so I have to wait on that until next time.

In general, this was still a great shrimp truck but I'm going to go ahead and say Giovanni's edges it out by a bit.

My new favorite shrimp truck.  I just wish they understood "spicy."

Decided to stop here on my way back from Waimea Bay ... and I am glad I did.  I ordered the butter & garlic shrimp which comes with a salad and a slice of pineapple.  I also ordered a fruit salad.

The peel and eat shrimp was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned ... just awesome.  The rice with garlic bits on top was a perfect complement to the shrimp.  I can't say anything bad about the food.

Two things that I would change:

    1. The watermelon in the fruit salad was sub-par - and the rest of the fruit was just ok.  Considering it is supposed to be local fruit - I would have expected more.

    2. The chickens running under our feet, although cute, were a little distracting while eating.

We never visit the North Shore without stopping first at Macky's in Haleiwa for a plate (or two) of their garlic butter shrimp!  The service is quick, there is plenty of covered seating, and a sink with soap to wash all whatever garlic and butter is left on your fingers that you weren't able to lick off.

    All plates are $12

Lets start off by saying the Garlic Shrimp here is GREAT and the Coconut Shrimp is the best on the North Shore for Shrimp Trucks! 5 STARS

The sides of RICE, SALAD and slices of pineapple are GREAT considering the other shrimp trucks including Giovanni's only do rice as a side.  Once again 5 STARS

It's pretty simple...You can't mess these things up and Macky's tastes the same all the time and that taste is Awesome so when it comes to the product that Macky's serves it's TOPS on the shrimp Truck list with Giovanni's...So why 3 Stars you ask?

Lets talk about that and these MAJOR  issues that have EASY fixes!

*First off...The unfriendly service...it's not working for me...it never has and it's about time I talk about it. The women here are just COLD! They don't want to have a conversation with you and are very stone faced. Hawaii is all about ALOHA SPIRIT and it's not at MACKY'S! FIRE THEM and we can instantly raise the service from 1 STARS to 5

*Second...The dumpsters and Port O Potties are right next to the tables...WTF! SERIOUSLY??? You factor in those trade winds and you are screwed people!
These Eating conditions...Get 2 STAR! Move the trash, dumpsters and Port O Potties down wind and at least 50 feet from the Tables and we can raise this from 2 STARS to 5 as well.

*Third and last and this isn't something you can place stars on in the first place...What I'm about to say is the worst experience I have had at a Shrimp Truck! An HOUR and a HALF before closing they allowed the SEWAGE TRUCK to come and clean out the Port O Potties.... THANK GOD ALMIGHTY my group just finished but others just started eating! The two Women working there allowed the Sewage truck to go ahead and start cleaning out the Potties...I was SHOCKED...on top of that I was watching the two women in the front of the truck covering their mouths and laughing to each other...really? Was it that funny? Seriously?  You're laughing at the fact that you have made your customers who just showed up to eat deal with these conditions and inhale S#%T???

    Embarrassing, disgusting and...UNEXCUSABLE!

I was so angry I talked to the women after and asked them if they found it appropriate to allow the sewage truck to clean the Potties during business hours...She said YES!
CAN YOU F#$%ING BELIEVE THAT? She said yes to my face!  MY FACE! That girl had big balls to say that to my face.

I told the people that I had been with that Macky's was one of the best Shrimp Truck stops on the island and you know what...they still are...I even warned my guests about the bad smell from the trash and Potties in the area, but emptying the Port O Potties while people are eating ten feet away??? That was the last straw. I have been here dozens of times and have brought Tourists here many times but to be embarrassed like this...I was so angry for my guests but even more upset for the ones that just got their food and had to deal with this literal BULLS#%T!

MACKY'S, WAKE UP...CHANGE YOUR SERVICE & EATING CONDITIONS or I will NEVER BE BACK, neither will MY TOURS when I start them next year!

I want to give Macky's 5 STARS across the board but not till things change...Great food can only carry you so far...service and the conditions you eat in are HUGE...I think businesses become arrogant over time and think a good product can sustain them...In the long run if you don't have the service and a great eating environment to back your product up, it catches up with you...Being a chef and working in such conditions for over 20 years with successes and failures I should know.

I'll be returning here at Summers end to give everyone an update on the eating conditions here to let you know if things change as well as the service! I have met the big guy here several times and he is alway a great guy so why he lets these women run the show when he's gone is beyond my understanding...He needs to know how they treat the customers...maybe now he will and will make the changes as well as move the benches or trash and potties away from the eating area. Maybe, just maybe he will also make sure the sewage is never drained during businesses hours again!

So I'm pretty upset.  I use to love this place until my recent visit.
Macky has lost the kudos of the kudos from me.  First of all, the workers aren't very nice.  I asked for cold water because the water bottle that I received was warm.  Her comment to me was..."I can give you your dollar back!"  WTF!  All I needed was a..."Sorry, no cold water not yet."  I would have been so fine with this.
Second-mundo...flies flies flies galore.  You better make sure that you are able to shove 10 of the shrimp pieces in your mouth...if not you will get flied.  The smell of the place has definitely deteriorated.  It smells like feces!  ugh.
i am so upset because the food itself is the bomb...but i think the environment needs some major work.
So my recommendation....take it to go and enjoy it somewhere else.  Heck....i'd eat it in my car.

My friends and I were too lazy to drive all the way to Giovanni's Shrimp Truck so we decided to stop by Macky's before heading over to Matsumoto's Shaved Ice. PLUS, there was a $2 off coupon for Macky's in a local travel booklet so be sure to look out for it.

We ordered all garlic butter and lemon pepper shrimp plates and they were super savory and tasty!!!

On the other hand, BE AWARE OF MOSQUITOES!!! (Hence 4 stars instead of 5). My friends got bit badly within 5 minutes so we had to retreat to the car to finish our food. Put on some insect repellent before you go. Those shrimps are worth it!

We tried Macky's and Giovanni's.  Our verdict?  Mackys!!   We much prefer the prawn like shrimp from Macky's and the rest of the plate, rice and salad, was better in our opinion.  Giovanni's had no salad if I recall correctly... not that you're there for the salad but the sauce can be quite rich so it's good to get some greens to mix it up a lil.

    TERRIBLE.... TERRIBLE.... SERVICE.

After a nice day at Lanikai Beach, we were pretty hungry and excited to try Macky's Shrimp Truck for the very first time.  I've been a Giovanni's fan since 2003 so I thought our first garlic shrimp truck should be Mackys giving it an honest and fair shot.

So we drove up and really hungry but had to use the restroom.  I asked the "owner" or whoever was taking the order where the restroom was and he replied with a snarky voice and said "WHAT?!  I can't hear you?!"  So I repeated myself.. "Where is the closest restroom?" with a louder voice and he replied even louder "WHAT?! WHAT?!"  At this point I was pretty annoyed and really irritated so this time I replied as loud as I could "WHERE IS THE RESTROOM?!?!"  and then he says "Oh.. HERE!?  You have to use the key!!".  I was thinking, what is his problem?!  I'm GOING to buy your DAMN FOOD.. so CHILL!!

So after I got back to the car and walked over back to the truck with visible cash in hand, his demeanor changed and said.. "Hi!!  How can I help you!?"  I wanted to say.. " You just yelled at me 2 minutes ago you a**hole! and now you wanna kiss my a** cuz I'm about to order ur food.. you piece of sh*t!  1 order Garlic Shrimp.. A**HOLE!"...   but didn't...

And to top it all off, there were only 2 other families that were there and he approached both of them more than several times to ask how their food was and didn't approach us once.  I was thinking.. all that bad service because I asked where your bathroom was?!  Are you kidding me!?!

His rudeness wasn't warranted, if anything I asked very meekly almost anticipating him to tell me to go to the 7-Eleven behind him.

But believe it or not, I'd come back for the food.  Food is good enough for me that I would return.  That actually says alot because as you can see I'm still heated considering this happened to me almost 2 weeks ago.

But make sure you get $2 off which can be found in "Oahu Gold" classifieds.

We tried the coconut and garlic shrimp and enjoyed them both. Eating area was clean, just watch out for the birds and chickens that occasionally peck at your feet! We were thankful they had a place to wash up after our meal, and we will definitely be back the next time we visit Oahu.
