This is the only place in Alameda that I go to for clothes.
They have a good selection of cute Sky Dresses & Tops.
The service is friendly.
I am a fan of M Zoe Couture. -

Alameda, CA
Let me start out by saying that I love it how Alameda now has a clothing store that offers better contemporary goods. I've stopped in at M Zoe a few times and have had the opportunity to leave with a few very nice things. The reason why I'm going to give this boutique only three stars is because of two things:
1. Poor customer service.
2. Brand redundancy.
On all but one of the times I went to visit M. Zoe, none of the salespeople came to greet me or asked me if I needed help. One of the worst times was when I entered the store with my sisters, there were two young salesgirls, a blonde and a brunette that were chatting. We walked through the door, they barely glanced up, then continued on with their inane conversation.
Of course, maybe it was because we were dressed a little down that day because we were relaxing on Park Street. I have a feeling that the salespeople only pay attention to you when they think you have the money to afford the things at M. Zoe, which isn't good because Alameda is a really well-to-do town and you'd be surprised at who has money. On one occasion I went with my mother to M. Zoe, she was well dressed and was carrying an expensive Louis Vuitton handbag. The salespeople flocked to her like crows. I decided to test out my theory and came in fairly well dressed one day, the salesgirl that greeted me was pretty attentive and I actually bought some items because I was treated better. I'd probably buy from M. Zoe more often if the salespeople weren't so snobby.
Another problem I have with the store is the fact that there are often too many items from the same brand. Almost every dress there is a Laundry by Shelli Segal. And there's an entire rack of coats in the same color and fabrication from the same company (some Italian brand whose name I can't recall). I like that there are a few pieces by Hazel and Voom by Joy Han, but I definitely think that the buyer needs to play it less safe and mix things up a little, including a few lesser known brands with unique items along with the name brands. I want to be able to buy things at a boutique that I won't necessarily be able to find at Nordstrom.
All that being said, I'm probably still going to stop in from time to time only because I DO like a lot of the things at M. Zoe and it's the nicest clothing boutique in Alameda. And if I'm lucky enough to have a salesperson pay attention to me, maybe I'll buy a few more things too.
*update*
In lieu of Megan S's comment, I have to agree with Tina C. How does bad customer service relate to personal insecurity? So if a person is treated badly by an establishment it is safe to assume they're an insecure person? What kind of B.S. is that? The lack of logic behind that comment boggles the mind.
Oh, and by the way, it appears there's a yelp member that's been harassing other yelpers who leave constructive criticism for M Zoe. I received a scathing email from her about my comments and another yelper I spoke to said that she was asked to remove her less-than-flattering review by an purported M Zoe affiliate. For anyone who would like to see the ridiculous email I got, hit me up and I'll forward it to you, it's a real gas. Haha. -

Who knew that Alameda was home to such high end fashion? My mom was the one who told me about M Zoe and talked me into going with her to check it out one afternoon. I did not have high hopes as, love her as I do, my mom and I do not have similar tastes in clothing and I have been to my fair share of boutiques on Park Street over the years and have never been too impressed.
Upon walking into this boutique however, I did audibly exclaim, "SERIOUSLY?!" and run towards a dress that I immediately needed, only to turn and look and find 4 more that I also had to have. Anyone who knows me, knows this NEVER happens when I go shopping. I'm picky and I'm lucky if I find a handful of things I like in one place. M Zoe was like my dream closet, filled with everything I could ever want from dresses to work clothes to jeans to shoes to accessories! I spent almost 2 hours here. I kid you not. And it was the best 2 hours of my vacation.
The staff is impeccable and I felt like I was in a scene from Pretty Woman. And since it is still Alameda, my mom and I knew half the younger sales associates working there. To be fair, the place is pricey and when we walked out of there, we had done some SERIOUS damage. But my closet is better for it.
This will be a must-go stop the next time I am visiting home. -

Upscale boutique, very pricey. I bought a Nicole Miller shift dress and Via Spiga pumps and LOVE them both. However, I found the shoes at Nordstrom online for $40 less.
I've gone in there in work out gear and never had a problem with rude staff. Actually, quite the opposite. The older woman has been there each time and was so overbearing trying to have me try on things that weren't even my size. I had to continually say no. She is the one who sold me the dress and shoes and a week later I received a nice card from her thanking me for the purchase, subtling leaving her work hours on the bottom of the note. While the card was a nice touch, and I love my outfit, I found her tactics to be tacky.
There is a fine line b/w being helpful and thoughtful and pushy and money grubbing. Until they change their ways, I will not return. Too bad, b/c I saw other dresses I would purchase. Nordstrom, here I come. -

I must say I was quite surprised when I first glimpsed into M Zoe. They have a modern chic look to the window and floor space that really benefits Park Streets scene. I am happy that the owner gave Alameda the chance by opening it's doors. As we have all seen some unfortunate places at South Shore and Park Street come and go throughout the years I am sure others are like me and happy to see places like this pop up and help the economy of Alameda. I am also so happy to see that Alameda has a great place for women to shop that carries higher end lines and such a broad selection of items. The buyers do a magnificent job in making their selections.
Alameda isn't just a place for the retired, it is a great commuter town that has a broad range of demographics. It's nice to shop at a place to get something to wear to the office, out to dinner or a benefit, or to a wedding. It is right on and I hope to see some other places follow its footsteps and open here. Who knows, maybe we'll see other places that are similar. I don't expect to see a Nordstrom or a Pottery Barn in town, nor do I want to. But seeing other original places would be wonderful!
The moment I walked in I was greeted nicely and wasn't flocked to like a car salesman. I received help when needed and was delighted to get their input. This store is straight out of San Francisco's Fillmore and Union Street shops with out the poor attitude you sometimes get in the City. The shorter blond and taller brunette are wonderful help, so I advise to go and have them help you. Unfortunately some people have had a bad experience here, but I hope that does not stop people from dropping in. I have had nothing but great experiences here.
I continue to pop in every month or so to check out their newest selection and arrivals and am always impressed. It was due time for Alameda to get a place like this. Instead of having to leave the island to get a dress for a special occasion you can now go here and pick up a great dress. You don't have to spend a complete fortune here because there is a wide variety of dresses from $150-$500. I got a great dress for I believe $220 that fit great and had everyone asking me where it was from. I actually had a great experience with the sales girl that makes me find it strange that others were ignored or "got the stare down."
If you are the type of person who likes to keep their appearance up with new fashion then you must head in. There are plenty of things to have you looking your best. If you are into Versace and Gucci clothes then maybe this isn't your place, but if you like more simple fashion like Joe's Jeans, Lacoste and C&C then M. Zoe is the place for you. -

In my experience, everyone was very helpful and not too pushy at M Zoe Couture. I will definitely go back! :)
Edited: On second thought, there is no reason I shouldn't give them 5 stars!!! :) -

MZoe Couture is a new boutique on Park, and my favorite place if I want ot find something up scale. They carry a Los Angeles designer that I really like LinQ, cotton simple and chic, and expensive.
Well, the word is out, it is expensive, but to find a new piece, it is the place. Who said you have to buy the full panoply there, anyway. So I am going for their jeans and coton, but they also have evening dresses, suits, a nice selection of sunglasses, some pieces of jewerly and a pretty collection of shoes.
The store accomodate two waiting areas, so you won't feel guilty when you are starting to try everything they have and your half is waiting for you.
Together with their pricey tags, my second down point is the sale team. A little bit too much, not really subtle, too pushy. Because I know what I ma looking for, and go with a set budget, it is ok, but I am saying no thank you a lot.
4 stars for the choice of items, and 1 star for their sale team. -

There is no doubt this IS the best clothing store in the East Bay. M Zoe has a fabulous selection and the staff are always nice, helpful, respectful, knowledgeable about what brands are likely to fit and give sound advice. They have everything from great looking casual wear to gorgeous evening wear (and to-die-for accessories) and a range of price points to match. I honestly have never had anything but a great experience at M Zoe.
Thanks to Rafael for bringing such a fantastic store to Alameda and to Hillary, Sandra and the rest of the staff for being so very helpful! -

Customer service is horrible: when my friend and I walked in we were completely ignored. A simple "hello" would have been nice. After about ten minutes, we still weren't offered help (the two employees were too busy chatting away to even notice us). A sale was going on and we didn't find anything either of us liked so we simply left.

I am very pleased with M Zoe. M Zoe specializes in high end fashion made with luxury fabrics like linen and silk. I am delighted to see Voom sold here. Voom had boutiques in Los Angeles. Apparently, M Zoe buyers trek down to Los Angeles for these items, or so I have heard. The prices are high. The cheapest item I have found in this store was priced at eighty dollars. Most things start at one hundred plus. Look to M Zoe for special occasion items, denim and sunglasses!

The clothes are really nice, I wish I can say the same for the staff. The girls that work there are snobby and rude. Each time my sister and I go in the store the girls who work in there just ignore us and continue talking to each other.

wow. wow. wow. wow. wow.
coworker carly recommended m zoe to me while we were discussing the upcoming company holiday dinner at scala -- the highbrow event of the year. dressy, but not formal.
so i went. and i pretty much wanted every other thing i saw. c&c california, designer jeans, pretty jewelry, abs collection, nicole miller, designer shoes, etc. it was awesome. they have a bit of everything ranging from casual to formal.
the girls who worked at the counter were nice. i don't know if the rest of the reviewers just have outrageous demand for superb customer service, but i wasn't neglected. they said hi, welcome, etc., got me started with a fitting room, were helpful and asked if i needed any help. what else does a shopper need? this isn't the kind of establishment that serves champagne and strawberries with a side of personal shopper. i was really surprised by the stuff carried at this place.
i am going back for more c&c lovin'. and to exchange my dress for a smaller size. and to browse the pretty pretty jewelry.
looks like somebody found her go-to boutique in alameda! -

being the kind of shopper who knows exactly what she wants, i'm accustomed to making phone enquiries and purchases. i've not been there in person but every correspondance i've had with their staff has been great. i was looking for a simple dress and i could tell they were sincerely trying to help me out. turns out they hadn't received the item yet, but they took down my info and i promptly received a call the moment they did get my dress in and offered to hold it for me. they weren't pushy and were extremely accomodating. having been around fashion and retail, it is true that smaller boutiques often have a higher markup than department stores, but i dont mind paying a bit more if it means finding exactly what i want, more unique pieces and receiving more personalised service

Everyone at this store is friendly and up beat. I love the jean selection ALameda needs to shop locally and this is a great place to go for a special event. They get to know you and take great care of you.

i'll give it to allison l., walking into m zoe is like a scene from pretty woman, unfortunately, allison cited the wrong scene. it's more to the tune of the scene where the woebegone girl in the scraggly outfit is flash-judged based upon her appearance and thus informed that there is nothing for her in the store. and let me make something clear here: we can tell from the clothes displayed in the window that your shop is a pricey boutique, and yes, despite the fact that we were wearing jeans and flip flops, we do have the money to spend... but i guarantee it won't be happening at your shop.
needless to say, you can guess the reception that my friend and i got upon walking in. we were given the cursory up and down assessment and when we clearly didn't meet the sales girls expectations (might i add, since we're going down this path, that your forever 21 duds aren't fooling anyone, but that's not going to affect the way i interact with you), we were promptly ignored, and left to our own devices. as it happened, we were on the hunt for a dress for a special occasion and after a thorough lap around the store, we found nothing special, especially considering that (and nana k. is right here) you can find the very same things at nordstroms. and even on their bad days, nordstroms still manages to treat their customers well.
any store or establishment hoping that people will spend their money with them over the competitor should treat their customers the best that they can. understandably, everyone has an off day, but m zoe seems to have prescribed to the old-and-tired pricey boutique approach of thinking that they are better than their customers, the very same customers that pay their salaries. i still maintain that there is no reason to put up with this sort of shabby treatment, especially considering that there are a plethora of these boutiques (and certainly better ones) in this area. and let me tell you, i'd much rather take the extra five minutes and head up to viva diva in rockridge where i know i'll find a similar selection of "couture" clothes and that the girls that run the shop will be friendly, helpful and make the buying experience a treat. *that* is the point of stepping into one of these boutiques, not the outdated, contrived experience that you're in for if you set foot in m zoe.
