M STREET IS MINE, ALL MINE!
Okay, I'll share it. Andrea, the owner, has created a wonderful coffee bar and internet cafe...so comfortable, clean, artsy, and just the right volume of the coolest rock mix ever! Art adornes the walls, featuring a different local artist each month.
Lots of nice drinks and goodies to choose from. My fav, is the Iced Mache latte (AWESOME, aka "blended green tea latte"). They also make iced tea, freshly brewed to order...choose from about 20 different types of loose tea! I recommend the Mint Medley.
Lots of plugs for your laptop, but the downside if you are here to work or play on your laptop, there is a 2 hour limit on their password-controlled internet use.
On the weekends, this is the place to hang with locals. You'll see the same bunch come in week after week.
They have 3 choices of sitting areas: about 8 small 2-3 chair tables on the perimeter outside, several tables and a sofa on the lower platform, and then about a dozen tables on the upper platform.
If that's not enough, Andrea has the type of eyes that smile...which makes her so extra cute!Listed in: Stalking Me?

I 've came here with my friend to talk in thie afternoon.
We were actually planning to go to coffee bean on Ventura , but she suggested this neighborhood coffeeshop near her house.
We couldn't find seats inside since most of the tables were occupied with people either writing or reading.
We sat outside after ordering:
Iced chai tea: not too sweet nor too light. Last time I had chai latte at Coffeebean, it was horrible since it was too light. M street Coffee's Chai was sweet enough and strong enough.
Iced tea: they have variety of tea selection. from Lavender Rose white , white peony to Lavender Honey spice... I don't know which one she got, but she liked it.
This coffee shop reminds me of hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............
Nowhere else..!!! It is so unique.
with the lime green and wood interior. it's so cozy, clean and the staffs were
friendly.
Their bakery items looked fresh and yummy. I would definitely go back to try their Matcha drinks and smoothies. -

So i decided to drive my ass out to sherman oaks to get a nice iced coffee and free wifi from one of the highest rated coffee shops in Los Angeles.. BOY WAS I SURPRISED
First and foremost, let me tell you. This place is a perfect example of segregation/gentrification in Los Angeles. I love all people of all colors, but i dont think the workers here feel the same. I did not see one brown/black face here the whole time i chilled. And there is definitely i reason i say this which i will explain further on.
My intentions of going here were to help my girlfriend's brother apply for some jobs online, so i said why not hit up the free wifi joint. Let me tell you, the WIFI IS NOT FREE.
I went to the front of the small coffee shop and tried to order an iced coffee. They looked at me weird due to the fact i had a dodger hat and jordans, and then started working on my drink. before they actually put any coffee in it i told them, can you try running my card first, it doesnt want to work at times, so they tried and to my surprise it didnt work,. Moral of the story, i didnt end up purchasing a coffee.
so i decided to sit down and still do what we came there to do, just like i do at any other free wifi coffee shop. You need a code to log onto the wifi so my girl's brother went to the front and grabbed a code. about a minute later, the worker comes up to me and says in a snobby voice... and i quote
"Hey, im sorry, i gave you a code, but i dont think you bought anything. These seats are reserved for customers who buy something. So either you buy something or you have to leave right now".
Now i get the point, but really? why did i see about three other people with no coffee by their side. Is this how you expect me to come back? i dont know if its the fact that im brown or the fact that my card didnt want to work, but in my opinion, there is a better way of running a business than telling your customers to leave. I HAD INTENTIONS OF BUYING A COFFE FROM YOUR HIPSTER ASS COFFEE SHOP PUTA. NOW IM SIPPIN A CARAMEL LATTE AT COFFEE BEAN IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD, AND THE WIFI IS FASTER.
P.S. there is actually fine ass women of all colors coming in and out of here. Well worth my $3.00. Money hungry bitch. -

VALLEY VILLAGE, CA
This place is awesome!! After the Great Windstorm of 2011, I really needed to get out of the house, but I didn't want to be somewhere too crazy and loud. I had been meaning to try this place out, after all the glowing reviews, and I'm so glad I did!
It had such a cool vibe, the staff was super friendly, and the decor was cute with tons of personality. I loved all the wall art. The only reason I knocked off a star was that it could use a little more seating. If there weren't so many squatters this would not be a problem, but it is LA, aka Writer Central, so it's not M's fault!!
I had a soy chai, nice and spicy! I'm not a fan of sweet chais...
Overall, loved this place and I would definitely come back again! -

Best coffee! When you make the most beautiful designs in my coffee, it does not go unappreciated. This place is what coffee houses should aspire to be like. Nice, quiet atmosphere, the baristas are all so friendly (and helpful for when I can't decide what kind of coffee I want and ask a milllllion questions), and the drinks are like edible (drinkable?) art!

This is my dream coffee spot. They offer cold brewed coffee (less acid), almond milk, fabulous staff, latte art in your coffee AND great art on the wall. I love being able to buy a latte AND a mosaic at the same time.

In a neighborhood devoid of cool coffee shops - in this way the Valley is truly a wasteland - M Street is heaven. Quiet, comfortable (when you can get a seat) and with some of the best coffee in LA. I'm an Eastsider and more partial to Jones', but this place will easily rock any Starbucks or the like. And the baristas are also super friendly and know their stuff.
The only possible downside besides its fairly limited seating is the internet policy, which makes you renew your password every hour or so. Understandable from a business perspective but annoying if you plan on doing work here, which many people do. And the music...well, its a coffee shop, so you wouldn't expect death metal or noise pop. You'd expect twee acoustic guitar music and Lilith Fair-fare, and that's generally the vibe here.
Expect the normal coffee shop work crowd: students (often grad), writers, self-employed, etc. This is not the place you come to chat loudly about whatever idiocy you engaged in the night before. This will draw some sharp looks. But for low decibel social engagements this place works perfectly.
If you're a "coffee person" this is the place for you and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place in the Valley, if not LA. -

I like the sleek clean lines and the bright and airy ambiance. The beautiful art on the walls rotate as they get sold and find new homes.
This place is cool, the clientele are hot, and the discussions are so LA. (la adjacent really)
I spent all day here and it was quite interesting to eavesdrop on all the conversations. Some were script writers, others were illustrators and authors, someone owned a furniture store. Everyone was eclectic and interesting, it was fun people watching.
My iced mocha was okay, nothing revolutionary, but done well enough. I'll have to be more adventurous and order something else. The pastries behind the counter look so yummy! They have homemade poptarts! *faints*
I found another cafe with free WiFi that I can study at! Yay!
(although I didn't get very much done on this trip) -

Best coffee place in the Valley. It's hard to stop anywhere else now that I've discovered their coffee. It's the kind of place you want to succeed and for that reason, I gladly tolerated the long line to get served today. Incredible muffins, cookies...and the homemade pop tart is great!! I also like the fact that they are open early on Sunday morning. Only drawback is the lack of parking. I drive by and give up 2 or 3 times a week for every time I actually find a space and go in.

Mom: Hold on, I have to check in here on Foursquare.
Me: WHAT?!
Mom: I'm thisclose to becoming the Mayor.
Me: [Eye roll, laughter]
Mom: (Whispering) The Mayor is already here!
-We spent the next 3-4 minutes trying to figure out who the "Mayor" of M Street was...never found out.
This was my first experience at M Street Coffee and I loved every minute of it!!
I don't drink coffee - I'm big on TEA - so even though I drive past all the time, I've never stopped in. The tea selection is pretty good but what got me is the TASTE. I got the iced chai - LOVE. Believe it or not it's easy to screw that up but this was amazing. I almost ordered another one. My mom is a coffee fanatic and she says that every time she goes there her coffee tastes great. As opposed to sometimes burned coffee from Starbucks. Bleh.
The atmosphere has a super cute, local coffee house feel. It's not huge so I was happy that it wasn't packed. Outside seating on the sidewalk is also cool for taking a break, sitting back and hanging by yourself, with a friend, or with your mom. :)
Plenty of street parking and prices are comparable to everywhere I've been.
I will be there like every weekend from now on. Maybe I'LL become the Mayor. I want this place to keep getting business, but hope it keeps the locals only, comfortable at home feel. -

Studio City, CA
I've driven past this establishment many times but today was my first visit. I went with two friends. The place was busy but mostly it was because no one left while we were there. They were reading books (remember those things?), using their laptops and busily ignoring each other yet the overall feeling was upbeat and friendly. The staff was excellent. The woman who took our order was cheery and helped us decide which flavor of tea made for good iced tea. I had a smoothie which was delicious. We also had some pastries, also very good.
The tables are close together so it's not a great place if you are claustrophobic or are discussing intimate details of your recent colon surgery. We commented that we should return on a rainy day because this looks like it would be a cozy place to sit and drink coffee and tea while it's raining outside.
I live within walking distance so parking wasn't an issue. There is free street parking if you drive there. I intend to return, perhaps at a less crowded time, if there is such a time. I can see why people might regularly return to this establishment. It could become one of those places..."where everyone knows your name." -

Give credit where it is due - my sister scouted out this place while she was visiting me, and I'm glad she did. Which is really tough to admit at the moment - cause we recently got into a nonsensical verbal match that turned into a "defriending" on facebook (I mean how childish to delete your own sister from your facebok). So lets cut back to two weeks ago when we were "sisters forever" finishing each others sentences...
I was getting bored and wanted to escape the house. Lil' sis googled coffee places - even though I didn't even want coffee but she always gets her way even though I am older --calling freud. So we ended up here - but they also have smoothies on the menu - I'm a smoothie whore btw - literally I did like 2 or 3 college projects on smoothies - how to make them and all that good stuff. The apricot peach pear smoothie deserves an academy award. its that good.
So, when me and lil' sis make up - which will probably happen in about a week after I insult her choice in a purple romper and then she will respond by saying something along the lines of "your hair color matches my poop" - we will likely be returning to M. -

M Street is somewhat off the beaten path, which means less frappuccino-drinking 15 year-old girls and that's always a plus. Here you'll find real coffee addicts, artsy types and college students who come for the organic coffees, teas, fruit smoothies, baked goods and free Wifi. It's pretty contemporary inside, but it's cozy thanks to a couple comfy couches and tables and chairs scattered about. It could be a great place to study or work if some people used their inside voice. Otherwise, it may be quieter on the outside patio where you can get some sun while you sip.
My iced latte was super rich and delicious. I could've easily inhaled it and suffered from a serious brain freeze. But I wasn't crazy about the banana nut bread...stick to the drinks.
This nice local coffee shop is definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood when a coffee craving strikes. Plenty of free street parking. -

M Street cafe is really perfect for getting your work done.
It's really cozy with plenty of place to sit and work, write, read.
Free wifi's great and the staff's very friendly.
I can't drink coffee so I always order hot chocolate, but the frothed soy was never this good! I bet the cappuccino here is excellent.
I just wish it was closer for me...Listed in: Cute Cafes in LA

Checked it out on a sunny Wednesday afternoon as part of my ongoing quest to become the world's foremost authority on Los Angeles area coffee shops.
If you, like me, are addicted to workahol, and enjoy using coffee shops to get your workahol fix, you'll be pleased to know that M Street has wonderful art adorning the walls, plenty of seating, FREE PARKING on the street, and a quite friendly staff, who listened intently to my three minute (and growing) rant on why no one should EVER order a tea latte.
So, I do like M Street quite a bit, but can't quite go FULL MONTY because they have a two hour wireless limit and they committed the immortal sin of putting green tea in boiling water. I might re-evaluate if I find a really great coffee drink, because I like free parking that much.

GOOD coffee. (Starbucks and anything resembling that categorized under HORRENDOUS coffee. So the fact I call this good coffee is a huge compliment. The GREAT moniker reserved for a select few shops.) Quality control is great. Server wasn't happy with the way my expresso turned out, so she remade it. Thank you for not dumping me with failed coffee experiments like so many shops do!
Friendly service and lax attitude about people staying with computers and working. WI-FI Force is strong.
Right now, it's not crowded, but I sense this place could become more popular leading to an over-crowding issue.
But for now, I'll come and hack away at my keyboard sipping at my Americano and occasionally, the cup of Cappuccino. -

Sherman Oaks, CA
Objective part of review: Street parking was available if not abundant. M Street Cafe is about 20 ft. by 35 ft., including the display/counter/coffee machines. The space is arranged so that about 1/3 of seating is in a raised dais at the back of the shop, and the rest is behind a railing. Music was 60s rock standards (Rolling Stones), blues/jazz, and pop-electronic (massive attack/Zero 7). Very clean "teahouse" environment with bright colors. Well-kept restroom. As other reviewers note, seating was cramped and awkward. M Street keeps a short menu with no sandwiches/soups etc., only the usual coffeehouse beverages and blended drinks with cakes/muffins to go with the beverages. I stayed about an hour and a half, and got a blended mocha with a blueberry muffin. The muffin was tasty if nothing special. The mocha was strong and tasty.
Subjective part of review: I wouldn't mind having a soup or sandwich, and while I wouldn't say that's a requirement for a coffeehouse to be above-average, M Street wasn't quite ticking my boxes.
I don't love M Street. It's clean, bright and friendly, but a little too cramped, and a little too loud. I felt wedged in, as any time I had to get up, I would have to jostle a minefield of chairs and another teensy table not two feet away.
Hunting as I always am for the perfect study spot, I set "quieter than Starbucks" as my standard. The ebullient, friendly shift head - possibly owner/manager - is a pleasant enough person with an excellent, healthy set of lungs. She and a supplier/deliveryboy loudly conversed for forty-five minutes about eight feet away. It was difficult to study, and I left shortly.
Your mileage may vary. If a couple of other places closed I would far prefer M Street to Grounded a couple miles down the road. You may also be less quiet and retiring than I am or more willing to use your elbows to get a good internet perch. -

This is by far the best coffee in town.
I've been to many-a-shop in LA, and M Street is the best. I promise. The proof is in the coffee. I have introduced M Street to many of my friends who now make special trips just for M Street. Of course, they pass by block after block of coffee chain saturation to get there, because it's worth it. in fact, I know someone who lives in Malibu and is overjoyed every time he has to take a meeting in the Valley because he can stop by and stock up on their coffee beans.
And for the all the reviews talking about the layout/room? Yes, it's a cozy place - but in my opinion, that is definitely part of the charm. Come on people! It's one of the few places in LA where you can actually strike up friendly conversation with strangers and be met with a smile.
Did I mention the staff is friendly and actually cares about making a really good product? -

First and foremost I would like to say I am a coffee addict. I cannot go through a day without coffee. Sad I know. So please believe me when I say that I absolutely love this place. The coffee isn't watered down like some places *starbucks ahem* so you can actually taste the beans. The staff there are really nice and courteous.
There is a couple things that are not so great. There's no parking so you have to find it on the street and sometimes you have difficulty finding one. I also wish they stay open later. 6 is way too early! I never stayed at this place but I can see what the others are saying about space. It doesn't seem the most comfortable place to study/work. They recently renovated the place and honestly I'm not feeling it. They replaced the floor with concrete looking material and it gives the whole place a cold vibe.
Other then that I can proudly say I LOVE their coffee! -

I was a barista for a year, coffee addict for 20 and all my skepticism and experience in tasting led me to concluding that M Street Coffee is superb and if you have doubts in visiting, don't any longer. The service is great, the coffee is delicious, the atmosphere is very pleasant. The layout provides upper and lower seating, two entrances, an outdoor seating, free parking, free Wi-Fi, restrooms, lots of windows, high ceilings, plenty of brilliant art (florals when I was there on May 19th), and last but not least...the lemony bread was fresh and sticky. I liked everything about M Street Cafe and I appreciate the respectful quiet clientele/patrons whom allowed my brain to focus on my work. I'm thanking them too. If you are a regular and see me making jewelry there please feel inclined to say hello.

Pretty cool local coffee shop. Decided to come here since I saw the great reviews and was in the area. There are plenty of places to sit and work. Free wifi too. While I was here in the afternoon, the place was full of 30-somthings with laptops working on whatever.
Lattes were ok. I got the vanilla latte and sister got a soy latte. We couldn't figure out which was which since they tasted the same so I am taking off one star off for that. Other than that I would come back if I needed to work on my comp and needed a quiet place to work at. -

Blended Divine Chai is CRACK! And this crack ain't whack! It be good, yo!
So order it.
NOW.
My companion is a coffee addict and also a writer and comes here almost every day to get his fix. Also M Street has free wi-fi, so he can work with all of his other coffee heads in a place that smells like coffee-flavored coffee.
I had never been before, as I don't really enjoy coffee. However, he brought me in to pick up his daily fix and I was transfixed. A menu item that claims it is "divine?" I must try this. And I did. And then he did. And then he, the coffee head, kept stealing my Divine Chai to drink, instead of his Black Coffee Flavored Coffee. Because it is crack.
In summation, free wi-fi, excellent coffee, clean bathroom, newly remodeled, friendly, knowledgeable staff and Divine Chai crack.

the service was great and friendly. The coffee shop is good. way better than any of the other chains. My coffee was a little bitter. When compared to a place like Intellegista they could improve a bit. It could be just the beans they are using. I am not sure. but all in all It is good and I would continue to go.

I'm gladly awarding the staff/baristas 5 stars without hesitation. They were friendly, courteous, the service was prompt and we all love free WiFi. Moreover, the coffee was good (not spectacular, but good) and the ambience reasonably nice.
The problem isn't so much the coffee, etc., but the real estate and layout. It's small and cramped, mostly because of the way the furniture is set up and, as one reviewer mentioned, because of the fierce competition to find an open table near an electrical outlet for your computer, etc. This is not the place to visit if you expect to walk in and casually find an open spot to set up (at least not from what I observed over the course of a business meeting). The turnover is slow and folks are territorial - fair warning. -

Every time I try to get to Coffee Fix (also on Moorpark), I am somehow detoured to M Street Coffee (probably because there is perpetual road work being done on Moorpark right where Coffee Fix calls home), but this has proven to be a good thing.
I say thumbs up to this place. Ample, comfy seating. Accessible outlets. Free, reliable wi-fi. Free street parking. Patio tables to soak up some UV rays. Less than $5 for a medium iced coffee and toasted bagel with cream cheese. Yep, two thumbs up, indeed.Listed in: Caffeine Scene, Wiky Wiky Wi-Fi, Morning pastries., Studio City

Best coffee shop in LA - hands down!
The ladies behind the counter are amazing. They are always helpful, friendly and wearing a beautiful smile. Whether you're there for a quick cup of joe or got an empty belly they'll fill you up. What's better is that there's free wi-fi, ample street parking (yay for the valley) and comfy seating (albeit the seating can get a little cramped at peak hours). All in all though, I haven't found a better coffee house, or shall I say, more cozy coffee house anywhere yet... -

M Street Coffee is what ever coffee shop would love to be! Amazing, talented and friendly staff and probably THE best coffee in Los Angeles.

Love it.
Good chill vibe inside with great artwork and as far from a chain as you can get. Theres plenty of cozy seating, free wifi, unique and interesting drinks. Good quality stuff. Hats off to the Baristads! This may sound funny, but they also have great shwag. I appreciate the fact that they took the time and spent the dough to make tshirts and sweatshirts that are worth wearing. Great quality and cuts on both with cool simple graphics.
Anyhow. This is one of my favorite spots in my neighborhood.

I'm still loving Kings Road's coffee. Presentation of the lattes at M are beautiful, but when I asked for a soy latte all I could taste was soy. Maybe I'll stop in again with the boy another time. I hope another barista makes my coffee. This place is quaint and def a good place to study or relax with the paper on a Sunday morning. It has potential to be a lovely, local coffee house. If only their lattes had a balance.

This place is SO AMAZING, I don't even know where to begin my review...
Their coffee is organic and quality and oh so good (all for only sightly more than Starbucks)! I usually get a nonfat mocha extra sweet since their stuff is pretty strong.
The service is wonderful. The owner, Andrea, is there almost every day to take your order. She is incredibly nice and so are the other baristas. They are a big part of why I come here.
And the ambiance? Absolutely wonderful. I am BIG on ambiance, and this place is darn near perfect in my books. There is plenty of seating inside and out. It's usually busy but you can always find an open seat. They rotate the art on the walls every month, which keeps the place unique and exciting. The shop also has a split level design that I really like for some reason. Overall, it's cozy, yet fairly large and modern. Plus, there is free wifi, so I can pretty much sit there all day and work.
I battle LA traffic and drive all the way from Santa Monica once or twice a week to come here. That alone sums up exactly what I think of this place. -
Review from Bill W.
San Diego, CA
I'm only giving it four stars because my first experience here was disappointing. I came with a friend on a Sunday afternoon, not realizing that the place was closing in 15 minutes (a coffee place closing at 5pm on a weekend? they gotta fix that). The barista didn't bother to tell us this until after we paid for our coffees and offered no apologies about it. She also didn't bother to tell me that my americano was waiting for me down at the other end of the counter as she saw me standing at the register waiting for it. Didn't realize we were following Starbuck's rules here.
That aside, the coffee here is amazing -- one of the best and freshest cups I've had in L.A. The place is also cute, artsy, and very unpretentious. It's very comfortable to study and chat here. I came back today for another cup and for the breakfast bar (a MUST try any time of the day!). I would definitely recommend this place, but would caution that you check out the hours posted on the front door first. The place closes way too early for a coffeeshop, but then maybe that's how they keep the place charming and the prices reasonable. -

They use organic ingredients and their lattes are the best. Definitely better than Starbucks and, dare I say, better than Cafe Luxxe (westside).
Since moving to the Valley from Santa Monica, M Street Coffee has become my morning must-have ritual.
