4 reviews for M Santana
This tres-chic boutique moved from Oak Park to Forest Park last year. The emphasis is on denim -- you know, the $200 kind. There are also lots of stylish tops, some skirts, and some jewelry and other accesssories.
There is an M. Santana, but she only is friendly to the people who come in and drop big bills. If you shop the sale racks, like I do, you don't get to find out what the M. stands for.
After weeks of driving by and seeing a beautiful blue dress in the window, I stopped in with one goal: To buy the blue dress! And I did. I was really impressed with the rest of the store. I quickly pulled about 5 beautiful dresses all of which fell into the $80 to $130 range. Not bad. What I really liked is that the cloths were well crafted and they carry a unique selection of items. Plus, there is a moderately priced shoe and hand bag store attached! The sales staff was friendly and not overbearing. I'll be back!
The clothes are relatively cute, though not quite unique enough that I'd necessarily think of coming back here time and time again. Lisa B's review is pretty poignant. I overheard M.Santana (the M stands for Myrza (sp?)) talking with an evidently wealthy frequent customer about how another customer recently got married and now she doesn't spend money like she used to because "you know, the husband starts tightening the purse strings." It wasn't a conversation inappropriate enough to phase me (or to keep me from buying shoes in her cute shoe store Afkara next door) but it was out-of-place enough for me to remember it and write it in this review.
I disagree with the other poster that M. Santana, the owner, is unfriendly. I stopped by this weekend during the store's clearance sale, and she was extremely friendly. I got a pair of designer jeans for $20 clearance, and she happily congratulated me on my find. This place has jeans that will actually fit you if you're on the thin side and sometimes have a hard time finding the right fit. Also, I'm on the petite side, but there appeared to be a fair selection of jeans that will fit those of you who need jeans for long legs. Also, M. Santana stated that she will be carrying a significant amount of the Kensie line, which is priced within the realm of reality and is frequently featured in fashion mags.
