La Palma, CA
This review is based on my experiences in 2009 and 2010. Recent reviews say that it is now under current management and that the restaurant is not an upscale Mediterranean-Italian fusion...so beware.
Calamari was always the best calamari I've ever had because they were always fresh.
This place was known for its seafood dishes so I tried the Chilean Sea Bass. The waitress said it was the best thing on the menu. I ordered it every time I came back and it was always great: light, slightly grilled fish over some sort of out-of-this-world sauce with fluffy, sweet, butternut squash and lightly salted lettuce.
Once, my friend ordered the pasta with artichokes (forget the name) and it was pretty awesome, too; very flavorful.
When I went there a third time, I tried the Halibut and it was flavored well but, naturally, a tad more dry than the Sea Bass.
Hopefully, my review is still applicable to the new restaurant.
Oh! The restaurant is NOT visible from the road, hence the 4 stars. -

Ok, I'm sorry Foscari's, you used to be much better.
I'm really sorry, your servers are really nice, but you only have 2 on a Saturday night, really? You didn't even give me a menu, little did you know I'd be the only one at the table writing a review. You pretty much ran away whenever you came by before I could ask you for anything. You did not bring me bread until I asked after our appetizers already came. You used to be very busy, I remember when I went a few time back in high school you used to be packed; in the last 9 years since, they have closed off Imperial and nobody can see you from the street now. That sucks. Your food was so-so at best. I'm sorry. I'll probably give you another chance in 4 years, maybe it will cycle and be good again.
I had the Spinach Fettuccine with Filet Mignon. Bland city. But at least not oversalted bland city.
I had a glass of the Mirassou Pinot Noir, once again, just ok.
The tiramisu was eh.
I enjoyed the bread. But I pretty much enjoy anything I dunk in Olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. -

My husband and I came here for valentine's day and the menu on line was NOT available at the restaurant. Not cool. Misleading. My plate was the petite filet megnon but my husband wanted the sea bass and there was none. We were told, sorry but our menu has not been uptade. I just looked again on thier menu and it still says chilean sea bass.
Tasty food but too quiet for us. We had the tapas for appetizer. It was tasty to me but my husband was not a fan. -

Went with my parents to eat some dinner... the waitress seated us and was friendly... we went around 8 pm and there was only one other table finishing up dinner.
The waitress talked A LOT!!!!
We ordered the Spanish calamari for appetizer, it was very very good.
My dad had the Bouillabaisse, which he liked, but they could have eased up a little on the cream.
My mom had the Penne Arrabbiata and I had the penne in a red pepper sauce with chicken. The chicken was pretty dry and my mom's pasta was spicy but just okay.
The place is pretty pricey for okay food.
The waitress told us that we came pretty late (as we were paying) and was nicely trying to tell us to hurry up. It was 9:10 pm.
Probably won't return again. -

I've been to this place a few times and have never been disappointed. There have been reviews of less than acceptable service, but I have yet to run into that problem. The first time I came here I had the risotto, and it was so good I've ordered it every time I've gone back. The first one was made with coconut milk, the next time it was tomato based and this last time it was butternut squash. Each one was terrific.
If you're not a risotto fan, they also have a spinach ravioli, which my friends said was very good. -

Don't waste your time coming to this place. It is expensive and the food is mediocre, at best.
The hostess was very welcoming, but a tad too talkative as we barely got a moment to read the menu since she kept talking to us. We were one of about 4 tables in the restaurant but the other staff seemed too consumed in their own conversations to pay any attention to anyone else.
We had to ask for someone to take our order and ask for someone to give us the check. Our waitress didn't come by even once in between to check on us. It is sad because it was such a slow night at the restaurant.
My husband ordered a paella which tasted more like a watered- down risotto. The flavor was all off. The little pieces of seafood were overpowered by the abundance of olives they place. I know they are trying to place a "mediterranean" spin on their dishes, but paella should taste like seafood, not olives.
I ordered a fish dish on a bed of spinach. It was okay. Nothing to write home about. The fish was charboiled and the spinach was sauteed in oil. Prepared a little heavily for a fish dish, in my opinion.
We had a coupon for 20% off our meal, but the meal still costed $60 (no alcohol, no dessert).
I do not recommend this place at all. -

I had read about Foscari's on Yelp and it sounded like a good neighborhood Italian restaurant so my wife and I decided to give it a try. Upon walking in we were greeted right away by the friendly staff and taken to our table. The restaurant has an open kitchen so you can see everything going on. The decor is nice with italian-themed murals along some of the walls, although the fake vines hanging are a bit out of place.
I enjoyed the menu as they have a good selection of appetizers, salads/soups, pastas, grilled items and house specials. They have definitely put their own spin on classic italian dishes which I enjoy as I am not a red sauce and spaghetti type of guy. I ordered the lasagna and my wife ordered the capellini with chicken. Additionally, we both ordered house salads to start. They give you bread which I thought was good; herb style focaccia with oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. To drink, I had a glass of Pinot Noir (can't remember the vineyard) which set me back $11; thought that was a little pricey. My wife ordered a large bottled water that was $5.
Overall we were both happy with our entrees. The lasagna was very rich, with a bechemel meat sauce that was very very delicious. My wife's capellini was good, although she could have done with less shaved garlic.
The service was very good. What wasn't so good was the price. The total for all of the above..........$68. For lasagna & capellini, I think that is a little too pricey. We will probably be back but the price will keep it from being in our regular rotation. -

I'd never guess in a million years that such great Italian food could be found in Anaheim Hills! Sadly, I forgot what my friend and I ordered but both dishes were great. Mine had a hearty beef sauce with thick noodles while his was a surprisingly sweet pasta dish. Price is high enough that with my college student budget, Foscari won't be a daily haunt.
Only thing that rained on my parade was the waitress/hostess woman that had an extremely strong personality.I'm thinking of a word.. rhymes with witch. Her attitude felt condescending enough that it made me uncomfortable to ask for simple things like water and more bread. Decor was nice but borderline cheesy. -

Made a reservation for ten on a Friday night at Foscari's. They had our table set at the appointed time, the staff greeted us and was very friendly. I had made arrangements in advance for individual billing by couple which was not a problem and handled very well.
I've lived in Italy and I've lived in Chicago (which arguably has better Italian food than Italy), Foscari's Italian food is very good but not great. The menu was very ordinary southern Italian, no surprise of unusual dishes. I thought the pasta dishes in the low $20's were a bit over priced, but the pasta was cooked correctly and the sauces were fine. Everyone enjoyed their dinner but only the lasagna was singled out by the one who ordered it as really good.
Bottom line: Nice restaurant. Very accommodating of groups. The food is consistently good but not spectacular. -

Located next to the festering dungheap that is Cinema City and an annoyingly crowded Starbucks, Foscari has some of the best Italian food in the area, and all at decent prices, at that.
My personal fav: house salad followed by Chicken Cacciatore. Their pastas are always excellent, and their specials are uniformly original and delicious.
The staff is awesome as well. They're really friendly and make an effort to get to know you personally. Ask for JP when you get there.Listed in: Deluxe, Son, Deluxe

The food is made fresh in an open kitchen. You HAVE to order the bruschetta appetizer - YUM! I ordered arribiata with cappelini noodles and was VERY happy with my order. I will return for lunch again.

Came here after reading the reviews...although it was a damn slow night, the service SUCKED...
They picked up our plates...and never brought the bill.. until I managed to harass one of the waiters too...
My friends who ate, liked their dishes...
But the service was crapola, hence the 3 stars. -

I came back here for the first time in many years since my time living in Yorba Linda. The restaurant is under new management and has transitioned to a mediterranean theme instead of straight Italian. On the Sunday night that we went, the restaurant was almost completely empty when we arrived, but was fairly crowded by the time we left. The restaurant was very understaffed and as such the service was quite spotty. The open kitchen allowed me to see that there was only one chef with one sous chef for the whole place. As such, we never received the one salad that was ordered and our entrees were brought out at different times. Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed their dishes.
Foscari used to be a nice, local Italian restaurant. However, it appears that the construction in the area has caused it to lose some business. -

My husband and I went here for dinner this past weekend, and I was hoping to be impressed by the "Contemporary Mediterranean Cuisine" menu. We walked in and were greeted by the ice-princess hostess, and I mean no smile, not friendly, just cold. That really left a sour first impression of this restaurant. Looking over the menu, we found an interesting mix of items that seemed to be their fusion food.
After a slow start, and our quiet waiter - we started off the with the bruschetta. The olive oil was a little watered down, and could have used a little more salt. I had the not-so fresh Halibut, with parmesan risotto, heavy white wine garlic sauce, spinach. I would have preferred the dish to be balanced more, but the heaviness of the garlic seemed very strong...and the fish should have been fresh, but it seemed frozen. Not much flavor, just kinda mush really.
My husband got the filet mignon manicotta with a spicy marinara...it was interesting blend of flavors. It had a nice bite to it, but I wasn't sure about the fusion of flavors. It was lacking something indeed, maybe something creamy like mascarpone or ricotta cheese to balance out the spicy marinara would have pulled the dish together.
Overall, the restaurant decor was average, it was like a blend of Olive Garden & Macaroni Grill. The gaudy 90s window treatments looked out of place, just like the big gold wine display. My eyes couldn't stop staring at the ugliness of that gold, it needs a fresh lift of darker colors to help modernize the wine area. The colortones were warm and inviting, but the wine motif is classicly played at Olive Garden more. This was supposed to be a fusion modern restaurant...but it seemed lost between stages. Service was so-so, our waiter didn't really talk much, too. It was just too pricey for so-so food. -

Staff was nice enough, decor was decent, food was boring. Won't be back.

Anaheim, CA
The prices are 15-20% more expensive in the restaurant than in the menu online or in the menu outside the restaurant.
In the menu says: "spaghetti with seafood, comes with fish and a list of vegetables" (no shrimp or clams or anything else, it just said fish). I asked what did it come with and the answer was a stern: "it is listed in the menu". I received more attitude like 3 more times and I felt very uncomfortable. My girlfriend was treated nicely.
Food was ok.
Will not come back. -

The staff is great. Even allowed us to be seated when we were doing an early dinner before they had resumed service.
Had their cilantro soup which was excellent. My friend and the only other patrons in with us thought so too.
I had their sea bass, which was done very well, no fishiness, clean flavors. My friends feta chicken pasta was also excellent.
Highly recommended, just a little pricey. -

Insatiably Delicious. I've always wanted to use those words. Insatiably delicious. Well done, Foscari. I love Italian food. Love. This is the best Italian food that I have had in my area. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, and most importantly, the food was delicious. I recommend people come here at least twice because my first experience here wasn't as exciting as my second.
The bonus: bread before the meal. Not just any bread. It was hot, flavorful, herby bread. Delicious.
The appetizer: appetizer salad. Fresh. That's good enough. The fact that it was fresh, I mean. At least I thought that was good enough. Only it got better. We ordered two appetizer salads that night but he said he only charged us for one and just split the salad for us. I'm not sure if you're allowed to do that as a server but I'll take it.
The food: angel hair pasta accompanied with tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil. It was fresh, tasteful, and light. Just like it was supposed to be. Nothing overpowered the other.
I love this place. -

I happened upon this place for lunch yesterday and loved it. Terrific atmosphere and lots of wine choices, plus, they have wine tasting events.
I agree with the first review - the staff is terrific. The food was great and wonderfully presented. -

One of the top Italian restaurants I've been to. I've only had their angel hair pasta with tomatoes and their vegetarian lasagna. The angel hair pasta was slightly under cooked and their vegetarian lasagna was spicy! So why am I giving it 4 stars? Well, my bf LOVES their steak and mushroom pasta with spinach pasta. I've never tried it (I'm a vegetarian) but every time we come here, that's what he gets; and it's been great every time. Their starting bread is great too.

Excellent cuisine. The prices are a little high, but this place is upscale so it's worth it. Great service and atmosphere. You feel like you're in a nice place eating here. Great place for a romantic evening without heading to the coast.

The food was pretty good, the service was great. The restuarant was quiet but that was good since we had a group of 7 and was able to talk without having to shout at each other. The price is a little expensive.

i got the meat lasagna and it was fantastic. the sauce was very delicious, and the shape was square...not rectangle, that is. it's about an inch high, so it's easier to eat. service is good, the bathrooms are clean. the hostess looks a little scary, though.

An interesting menu of fusion food that is both delicious and reasonably priced. 3 1/2 stars, only because the staff was less than friendly.
