I have gone to this salon several times when I lived in Berkeley simply because they were close to where I lived.

I love their efficient service, quality of threading may vary, but the flaw in the technique is not very evident.

This place is located on MLK and University. It's a small little place so it can be easily missed. Parking is not a great over here, but it's Berkeley so when is it ever that great?

    Service:
The ladies that were there were really friendly, detail and professional. No complaints. I think they did a pretty good job with my eyebrows, but I just wasn't happy with them. It's not that they didn't do it right, I just had a better experience somewhere else.

    Price:
I actually that they were pretty pricey compared to some of the places that I have been too.

    Overall:
    I would recommend this place.

    1) Cheap
    2) People are nice, but they raise an eye brow (ha-ha) when you don't make an appointment. They will still take you but you'll probably have to wait. I usually call the day before or the morning of and I have never been turned away. I've been going here for the past six months.
    3) They listen to what you want your brows to look like and are willing to redo/keep threading if you are unhappy.
    4) A nice aloe vera rub to help prevent redness.
    5) FAIL: parking, if you need to drive. Only street parking. Most of Berkeley is a parking fail, so I don't want to take away from their stars because of this. They are however, close to BART and  multiple bus lines.

    Love it!

I decided to write an update for m&m since my first review. I love how the ladies at m&m leave my eyebrows. I always had one lady that always did mine my brows until one day she was busy with another client so I had one of the other girls do my eyebrows, I was a little nervous at first because of the unknown factor of not knowing how she would do my brows but in the end she cleaned them up and  left my brows nicely shaped. I love getting my brows threaded here and also enjoy the eyebrow massage at the end. I usually vist m&m once a week or every two weeks since I have a 3 month membership. I've never left unsatisfied from m&m and ill continue to come here.

The only thing I liked about this salon is that it's very convenient from Bart. Other than that, my face broke out so bad from the threading that I now have permament scars on my face!!!!

Im sold! ive always gotten my eyebrows waxed but this place was right next to the nail shop and i was curious. Everyone here is super nice. I always feel welcomed. My eyebrows always come out fantastic thanks to Laxmi. Shes great. The little aloe message they give on the brow/forehead area afterwords is the best! i always look forward to that part.

I've been having bad luck with finding a solon that threaded to my liking.  It's almost like a trial and error every time I give a place a chance and thankfully one day I gave in and just picked a random spot on Yelp to get my brows done.

This place is pretty small with two seats for threading.  It's right on the corner of Martin Luther King and University so street parking was my only option.  When I walked in, the ladies were so nice.  They asked HOW I LIKED MY EYES BROWS, which is a first since all other solons just take it to work without asking me any questions.

I love how they did my brow, they noticed if one arch was too high and made the correction.  When I was done, they used aloe vera and massaged my brows :)  I'll definitely come back!

I am from SoCal and have gone to the same person to thread my eyebrows for 6 years. Since I don't go home often I decided to give this place a try. My first experience was good. They cleaned up my eyebrows fairly well ( young , short woman with medium length hair). But last week I came in and a woman with long hair did my eyebrows. I went home and my eyebrows were red , tender ,and they burned. I also noticed a few scabs because she cut me a few times. The redness still continues days after and has left me with a ton of pimple-like irritation all over my eyebrows . I have never experienced such terrible and embarrassing irritation in my many years of eyebrow threading. I doubt I may ever go again. So be warned!!

I had been looking for a decent place to get my eyebrows done for a VERY long time, with very little success. I'm not even picky..I just like a good arch without going pencil thin! My friend told me about her wonderful results when she went here, so I gave it a try last week.

One word. PERFECT. My eyebrows are finally perfect. I feel horrible that I didn't get the name of the person who perfected my eyebrows... she was the only one working that Sunday. I'll have to call to get her name.

The place is really tiny, and I almost locked myself in the bathroom, but other than that, this will be my spot!

I was in dire need of some eyebrow grooming while I was in town and a friend took me here because she recommended it. Since it was a Saturday and I didn't have an appointment, there was quite a bit of a wait before I was tended to and there were only 2 threaders/threadists(?). (So if you need to get threaded here on a Saturday, make sure to make an appointment ahead of time.) The girl who took care of me was very apologetic about the wait, which wasn't her fault. Weekends are infamously busy when it comes to beauty upkeep. And since they usually have only those 2 chairs out, I also appreciated that they put out small stools for waiting customers to sit.

Most of the girls took only 10-15 minutes tops but there had to be that one girl who was before my friend and me who was EXTREMELY NIT-PICKY about her brows (and took up about double the time). After we left, we were ranting and joking about her, saying that, "Symmetry is OVERRATED! Some of the most beautiful faces aren't symmetrical!"

    The good:
    * Cheap eyebrow threading--$10
    * Bart-able (for those of us without cars)
    * Better (faster, cheaper, and friendlier service) at evening out my uneven brows than Mad About Brows in the city (and they return your calls)
    * Have been able to get same day appointments

    The bad:
    * Nothing! :)

    2/18/2011 Purchased a Yelp Deal

    THREADING.

First, I had seen this place because they were offering $40 worth of threading for $20 via yelp. It seemed it had some amazing and some were from my friends. I wanted to get my eyebrows threaded for Valentines Day with my boyfriend.

I made an appointment for 5:30 with a friend and I came in a bit late. They were working on other girls and when they were done, they helped us first even though there was a girl who walked in before I did.

I got my upper lip and eyebrows threaded. The upper lip portion hurt a quite a bit, but it was just stinging for most of it. It wasn't too bad. The eyebrows weren't either. I think that once I though about the pain from when I got my eyebrows waxed; comparably, it was a lot less getting them threaded. Since I was new at this, the lady who did my threading, Puja, was especially nice and asked if it was too painful when my eyes got all watery.

The aloe lotion and massage afterwards is really nice and makes the stinging go down. $14 for both was an amazing price.

I WILL BE BACK, I PROMISE!

I have been here twice now. I am able to go during the week, each time I have gone in at about 11am on a weekday without an appointment and have not had to wait. I am delighted with my eyebrows! Threading does hurt me a lot but I think I must be very sensitive in the brows as plucking them makes me cry - threading doesn't hurt that much...the lady who saw me asked if I wanted them done thin or just cleaned up (cleaned up for me) which was nice. The aloe vera massaged in at the end was very soothing. Today I got the upper lip done as well as the eyebrows which was $14.00. Good value!

Great threading here - over 15 years of getting this done, have had my share of cuts and lopsided brows but not at m&m. The younger woman who works on weekends is the best. Sometimes there is a bit of wait on the weekends but the threading itself is so quick and painless, it's worth it.

I love these guys.  I only discovered threading recently, and it's so much better than waxing.  You have to kind of contort your face (make a bubble, pull this down, hold this up) but it's painless and efficient.  I made an appointment the first time, but since then have just walked in and never waited more than 10 minutes.  The aloe and massage at the end are a nice touch.  Highly recommended.

Indrid consistenly does a great job on my eyebrows.

For a long time the shame of walking around with noticably different eyebrows has scared me from venturing out to try new places and new people. What if they take too much off? Too little? Get the shape wrong? Or they got it right the first time and failed the second?

I took a chance with M&M Thread Salon when bf bought me the Yelp deal. The first visit was great, I walked out with even brows! The second visit was even better, I started to notice how meticulous Indrid is with my brows. I love that she asks if it's okay (i.e. to trim) before she does it. Indrid is a solid go-to for threading needs I highly recommend her.

I just had my first eyebrow threading session ever, and I'm sure to be back.

I chose M&M because of the high Yelp reviews and the affordable pricing. Plus, I'm half Indian, and it sounded like from the reviews that the folks at M&M would know what to do with eyebrows like mine.

I've been plucking my eye-hedge for the last 15 years, with mixed success. Even when my pluck-fests came out okay, it still took too much time, concentration, and pain.

As for threading, I'm sold. Yes, it sounds like velcro is being pulled from your eyebrows. Yes, it stings a *little* - but SO much less than plucking, and within 5 minutes my eyebrows looked better than they have at any point in my whole plucking life. The aloe brow massage afterward was soothing, and I for one had no bleeding/redness/swelling at all after the treatment.

Round two today was yet another good experience. Now, when I look in the mirror and do the seductive eyebrow raise I actually buy it.

Again with the redness, but I think I just have to accept that my skin will always be sensitive to beauty. Little miss sissy over here still thinks it hurts a little, like waxing or tweezing, but you eventually get used to it.

Request having some aloe put on afterwards, it is very nice and a great way to end the "session." I also really like that there is free 30 minute parking just past the shop, but be warned, the meter reader folks are very prompt.

Really great place to go for threading! They spend a lot of time making sure that everything looks good, and were very careful with making it as pain free of a process as possible. They even did small cleanup areas with tweezers and massaged aloe at the end to ease any pain and bumps. Threading the eyebrows are $10 and upper lips are $7 but if you do it together, it is only $14, which is a great deal. Will definitely be back!

These girls really know how to shape eye brows. $11 for eyebrow threading and $3 more for upper lip. If just upper lip $7. I had both dome today. I always walk in and longest wait time has been few mins max.  I'm so glad I discovered threading vs waxing. The upper lip hurt alot more than the eyebrows but she assured me that was due to it being my first time having it done there and it gets less painful each time... We ll see. Waxing always left my skin red and irritated.  Threading is amazing. I still have no idea how they can be so precise with just thread!!

I went here recently and it was OKAY, not great. My eyebrows came out a lot cleaner but very very uneven. My right eyebrow had no arch and my left's arch was way too high. My eyebrows naturally look different but I told her about it before. My boyfriend actually laughed at me bc it looks like I'm purposefully raising one eyebrow. Luckily I went over them and replucked what was left so they would be more even.

The girl who did my eyebrows was very young. I suppose I just got the wrong person.

The price was great. But I'm most upset because I spent months trying to grow out my eyebrows. Now I have to start over!!!

I have been going here for about 9 months since moving to Berkeley from NYC.  I started going because the location was super convenient and the price was right.  I have probably been here close to 20 times and every time the service is consistent and good quality.  I usually don't have to wait at all if I go during not peak hours.  Both the women I've had take their time and always follow my requests (namely to just clean up and not over shape).  I would definitely recommend this place.

I went with my roommate to M & M a few weeks ago since she was getting her eyebrows threaded and I wanted to be there since I was curious about the process. She was really nice about letting me observe the threading process as my roommate got her eyebrows threaded. It was my roommate's first time and the lady took time to be gentle.

Today (Yes! They were open on Labor Day), I went back there to get my own eye brows threaded for the first time after being there for my roommate's experience. I was helped by the same lady who was there when I went before. She was really nice and made sure she knew how I wanted my eyebrows before she started. My arches on each eyebrow were different, but she fixed it for me! It was my first time, but it really didn't hurt too much at all. The aloe vera and mini massage at the end was really nice too!

I'll definitely be going back the next time I decide to get my eyebrows threaded.

yes, perhaps the 8 years past since my last threading experience has dulled my memories of threading, but this experience has turned me back to waxing.
As the threading began on my upper lip, I was thinking of what my lawn must have felt like when we used the push mower on it.  And though waxing still draws a tear from my eye, at least it's a quick rip, rather than enduring 6 minutes of a minature lawn mower on your face.
Dear Bhavna, I now thank you for your great skills.  You didn't hurt me this much.  You didn't make me contort my face.  You didn't make me hang my head back over a regular salon chair or pull on my face so you could get at my brows.  I didn't know how fortunate I was at the time, because if this was my first threading experience, I couldn't image any one wanting to be threading.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG, I LOVE my eyebrows!! For the past few days, whenever I looked into a mirror, I never failed to mention how much I love my eyebrows. GAWSH, they look good!! (I love them!!)

We just walked in (2 people) without an appointment and they were able to take care of us in no time. Monsoon, the young girl that did my eyebrows, is such a perfectionist! I love that she was so meticulous and wouldn't let anything slide! Don't let her age fool you - she knows what she's doing and she does it well. They ask if you want aloe vera on your freshly threaded eyebrows, and as my sensitive skin tends to flare up in humiliating redness, of course I obliged. They do a funny little massage that feels good and silly at the same time.

I did my shopping at Trader Joe's (directly across the street) while waiting for the redness to cool down. I was red the entire time and my sister kept making fun of me, but I didn't care. A little (okay fine, major)redness is nothing when you've got the best-looking eyebrows in the store! XD

Soooo since I moved to Berkeley I have been afraid to try a new threading salon. I've been going to the sameeeeee one since I started threading at 16 years old. And even through college I would only thread when I visited home so I could go to my same place.

Anyway! It was emergency status and I had to get my brows done and I quickly yelped a place and M&M sure lived up to the great reviews!

I have been threaded by 3 different women and all of them do a great job. They take their time, and listen to exactly what you want.

The best part is the aloe mini massage when they are finished. And the price is great for just $14 for eyebrows and... upper lip (eek).

It's always hard to find a place to do your usual beauty duties, especially when it involves your eyebrows.

I used to live in NYC and it took about 7 threading salons to find my one special place. So when you start some where new, such as the bay area, where do you go.

I asked a friend of mine for some recommendations, she mentioned M&M in Berkeley. Since it was on my way back home to Vallejo, I thought I'll  give it a try.

The lady that helped me, Irina ( I think that's her name) assisted me. Once she started, I was surprised by how painless it was.  Not only was she gentle, but she was a perfectionist!

I found my place and will pay my monthly visit to M&M , even if it's out of my way =)

I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time!  For those threading newbies (like myself), the threading process is as painful as tweezing and sounds like two pieces of velcro being pulled apart.  It's so sanitary and so quick!

The lady who took care of me was personal and helpful in providing future tips for maintenance.  She has soft hands too and is obviously very skilled :)  The aloe vera temple and forehead massage at the end was a soothing touch!

My first time trying threading as opposed to waxing and I'm hooked!  It's virtually painless, it's *way* cheaper (only $10. compared to the $23. I pay at Aveda every two weeks), there's no redness/burning/swelling after the treatment and from what I'm told it lasts longer than wax (I'll have to see about that).

The salon is a bit stark but it's clean, well run and Ieena, the esthetician and her husband who run the place are very friendly.  I told Ieena that I only wanted my current shape cleaned-up, but she noticed imperfections in the shape of my brows and asked my permission to change/fix them.  I walked out of there with the best shape I've ever had.

If you are a slave to wax I highly recommend that you go see Ieena for threading.  You'll never go back to wax!

This was my first time threading, and also my first time getting my eyebrows done professionally. I've always been afraid that they would go too thin and I'd have to draw on or fill in my eyebrows.

Luckily, I came out with my eyebrows intact, and the cleanest-looking they've ever been (Check out my pic if you'd like). Pretty good deal I think, for $10. It's also a super-fast process (Less than 10 minutes is my guess). How it works is that you lie down, pull your skin taut (above and under eyebrow) and she goes at them with a long white thread. She finished mine off with some plucking, minor trimming, and lastly--aloe vera lotion.

As far as pain goes, it was some very minor stinging for me, perhaps because I am used to tweezing my eyebrows. One of the girls before me scared me though...she was literally writhing and whimpering each time hair was threaded. Freakin' horrible.

When I came, there was only one lady working, but she went through each person super-fast. One thing I really liked was that she didn't pressure me to get anything else done...I've had that experience with haircuts and such and it can be rather annoying. She did say..."See you in 2-3 weeks." I think that's a bit too high-maintenance for me, but I'll likely return in a few months or so.

Just moved to Rockridge from Chicago, where I left my kick-ass eyebrow threading salon, Deeba's. $5 for eyebrows, plus a killer lotion face massage at the end. Oh, and it was a Pakistani-run place. Personally, as a hairy brown person (from India), I prefer having another fellow hairy brown person do my eyebrows, because they know how to make them look perfect. Not trying to be racist, just trying to be real.

Indira from M&M is from Nepal, and she did a great job on my brows. Most threaders do it in 5 minutes, but she took 10, was very precise and did not hurt at ALL. For reals. Most people tear the fuck out of my face--not Indira. She was also nice and ask me before doing anything too crazy. Aloe face massage at the end, and only $10!! Please go here. She rocks.

I went here and it was my first time getting my eyebrows threaded. I've gotten my eyebrows waxed a million times, and I wanted to try something new.  I didn't really know what to expect and the lady who was working made me feel at ease and did a great job. She walked me through the entire process and asked me what shape I wanted my brows to be etc. She was very thorough, which was much appreciated. She also gave me a mini massage thing at the end.

The shop is small and low key. It's nothing fancy, but the actual threading was cheap so I can't complain. An overall pleasant experience. I will go back.

Wow - what a difference from my usual place on Durant Ave.  I won't mention any names but you know the spot.

Riya (sp?) is an absolute gem.  She took the time to discuss the shape of my brow(s) and how the two aren't matching.  I feel like I knew this but never had the opportunity to "discuss" anything at my other spot.  The most conversation I'd had was "stretch it" and maybe a nod of the head, if I was lucky!

For one(1) dollar more, and cheap as hell, at $10 bucks I left feeling like I'd had the royal treatment.  Honest, if you've been looking for a place in Berkeley to get your brows done....this is the ONLY place I'll come from now on.

It's makes me sad to know that I've been walking around with half-ass eyebrows since I didnt know any better.  M&M is top of the line yet affordable!  Thanks yelp, for once again, leading me down the right path.

Cheap. I like my right eyebrow.

But my left one looks like I'm raising it.. I'm not.  'Nuff said.

A big thanks to fellow yelpers. You introduced me to Reema and I'm in love! Although I did feel like a bit of a cheat. My go-to-wax gal Meena (see review of Annahita's Salon) went on vacation. I was desperate to get my eyebrows done so I got on yelp and I was matched with Reema.

It's true - this place is a gem! Eyebrow threading just $7!! GASP. And she has a combo special (brow and lip) for $10.  There's also a jar of change, so she knows folks may need to run out and feed the meter.  Reema is not only good, she's talented and she knows it. Very conscientious and incredibly proud of her little shop.

That said, I need to warn folks that this is an absolute no-frills, no-thrills, no-nothing type of "salon."  It makes Annahita's place look like a five-star spa. It looks like they just moved in although they've been there for seven months or so.  Honestly, don't think "salon" in the Berkeley "spa" sense. Think "salon" in the beauty shop (get'cha shit down and leave) sense.

One other confession - since the brows went so well, I asked if I could get my legs waxed too. This is when I really missed Annahita's place. It took her over an hour and a half to do my legs. It has never ever taken that long and I've been waxing my legs for years. I thought I was going to take a nap. I wished I had brought a snack. Yes, it was good but so not worth the long wait. For legs, bikini, etc., -  stick to Meena at Annahita's. She waxes at a turbo speed.

Overall, the brow service was EXCELLENT. The prices AMAZING. I make this yelp recommendation for BROW THREADING without hesitation (but think twice about the legs).

10 dollars for a good eyebrow job?  It can't get better than this.  I've had my eyebrows waxed before with wax and the skin around my eyebrows were bleeding and pieces of skin were missing.  At M&M, ten minutes of relatively painless threading revealed a more feminine and classier arch.   There was no bloody mess afterwards.

This was my first time and threading is really an art--  it's amazing what a string can do in the right hands.  I had to lift the skin on my eye for the threading to work and it was interesting how much of a team effort it is to thread an eyebrow.

They don't have much change here so make sure you bring cash and change.  However, they do accept credit cards.  When I was there for ten minutes, they were serving three people on a Sat. afternoon.  If you have never tried threading before, you have to try it at M&M.  You might just be hooked like I am now.

Clean, affordable, and works!  :  )
