OK, this is a complete and true hole-in-the-wall - a liquor store with a little counter in it that sells Salvadorian fare on Eastern Ave at Anglesea. Another fave from our latest immigrants.
Great tacos consisting of 2 tiny homemade tortillas, meat, onions, cilantro, and lime - essentially, what we call street food. They come in chicken, beef, tongue, and pork - personally, I like the chicken. They come with sides of salsa to spice them up a bit if you like.
They also have good pupusas - again, handmade by the ladies in back and stuffed with cheese or lorocca, served with a wonderfully tangy cabbage slaw.
Finish off your meal with an order of plantains served with crema and a sweet bean puree.
They have other simple fare, but the best I've had are the tacos and pupusas. And CHEAP!!! Lunch for less than 5 bucks. If you're so inclined, they are a liquor store, so you can always top it off with a swig of tequila if needed. Worked nearby for awhile and this was standard lunch fare for us (minus the tequila of course) - yum, yum, yum, yum!
