One of the smallest airports I've visited recently, Lynchburg (LYH) boasts a remarkable TWO destinations - Charlotte (US Airways, serviced by PIedmont Airlines) and Atlanta (Delta, serviced by Atlantic Southeast Airlines). Small planes - US is a Dehavilland Dash 8 turbo prop and Delta is a regional jet) - but at least short flights. All of eight arrivals and departures per day (7 on Saturday). One luggage carousel. My flight was remarkably expensive, though that is not completely the airport's fault.

The gate area is not open around the clock. After passengers deplane and make their way into the terminal, if there isn't another flight for a while (which happens often), the TSA closes the door and goes on a break.

There isn't much for services here. No food or shopping. Not even a bookstore selling magazines and postcards. The waiting area (outside security, of course) has a selection of vending machines and a television. They have a few car rental agencies with desks in the terminal and the cars are parked a walkable distance away.

It's easily accessible, the parking is fine and they have a free half hour if you're dropping someone off, though the local cops didn't seem to mind a few cars parked at the curb.

It's not the top destination in my mind, but it's a nice regional airport.

A small airport that's pretty decent, considering it's your typical small city airport that only has a handful of cities you can fly to(which to my memory + unless things changed, are Pittsburgh, Washington, DC(unsure which DC-area airport it serves), and to Charlotte). Security is pretty quick, but unfortunately since many flights are outta puddle jumpers, you often have to walk out onto the runway to board the flight.

Not many amenities you can find at this airport though, only reason why I won't give this place 4 stars. I still give it 3.5 stars, for being one of the more efficient airports I've ever flown into.

Nice, small airport, easy to get in and out of. They have several flights a day, which can be expensive, but are good if you've just got to get out of town.
