Trust me.  You want the hand treatment.

Now, I've been buying soap and lotion and the like from Lush for awhile now, but for some reason, the hand treatment eluded me.  So when I was shopping here recently with one of my girlfriends and the sales girl offered me a hand treatment I started to say no, but my friend was like, "Yes.  She'll have the hand treatment."

Err... okay?

So off to the little sink I in the corner I was led and indulged in getting my hands scrubbed down, cuticles rubbed, lotions applied and all-around good smelling products applied below my elbows.  It was awesome.  My hands were soft and supple for days after the treatment.

Go.  Get a scrub down.  You'll like it.  And why you're there, buy yourself some soap.  They have a heavenly smelling lemon body soap that doesn't dry out your skin at all!  It's hard to justify paying $10 for a bar of soap, but seriously... it works.

Lush is my new addiction. I especially love this standalone Lush and have SWORN to forsake all those in Macy's stores.

The products- all vegetarian (some vegan) wrapped in environmentally friendly packaging. A wide array of solid products to make transportation easier, cut down on packaging AND nasty preservatives. I must say the only down side to little packaging is you have to REMEMBER what everything is or what it does. I am a HUGE fan of their emotibombs (so lovely to have on a Monday morning), bath bars/bombs, charity pot shea butter, toner tabs and angels on bare skin facial cleanser.

The sales associates- sweet, knowledgeable, friendly, NEVER pushy. I usually go in on a Saturday afternoon and its hardly EVER busy so they have tons of time to give you attention and do demonstrations which are super fun.

The atmosphere- so many wonderful things to smell and look at, such eye candy for all! Although a few individuals who are extremely sensitive to smells may not enjoy the store, due to the fact that there is little packaging the fragrances of the products blend into the air of the store quite easily.

GIFTS- they also have TONS of prewrapped gifts for the ultimate bath experience, and they offer tons of suggestions for building your own gift bag. If you cannot decide what you want to give, there are gift cards to be had.

The price- I must stay FAR FAR away from this place as not to spend every penny I own on bath products. YES this place is pricey. But I believe some of the products are worth it, mostly stuff I don't use everyday (like a facial mask or a bath bar) is worth buying here. Even though I love LUSH, I still buy everyday body wash and facial cleanser at Target. This store is generous with samples, so ask for one before you try out a product.

I was really torn over whether or not to give Lush 3 or 4 stars... and I love it there.

Let me explain:

I found Lush for the first time in London in 2003.  I was there on vacation, read about them in a Frommer's travel guide and popped in.

It was love at first sniff. I stocked up and brought it home. After I went through it all, I researched how I could get more and started ordering big batches from people on eBay and then eventually from them directly in Canada.

You can only imagine my joy when I heard they would be opening a store here.

Then I went in... and saw that the products are more expensive then when I was ordering them from Canada. I was given the whole "a store front in Lincoln Park is SO expensive" story as an explaination.

But it's gotten to the point where I'm older and can't rationalize spending $12 on a tiny tub of shampoo. Or $14 for a bar of body butter that will only last me a few showers. I have pretty much given Lush up because of it.

However, my favorite products there include You Snap the Whip... smells delicious but you have to watch out... it likes to stick to the sides of your tub. I am also a big fan of the Honey I Washed the Kids scent and the bombs and bubble bars it's inspired.

I will probably continue to use the shampoo bars because they're great for traveling but everything else is going to be strictly a birthday/new job/terrible day kind of splurge.

Rarely do my panties get in a twist over something, not someone AND above all rarely do my panties get in a twist over a big green ball.

The other day, after a trip to LUSH, I found something fabulous, a green avocado fizzy bath ball. It made my skin soft and made me feel relaxed in my tub. Funny thing though, not only do they have great bath products, they also have a wide array of soaps, shampoos, facial products. I cant wait to go back and pick up some other things to try!

Thank you wonderful Lush staff for your patience as I struggled to find a gift for my sister.  Believe me, when I return for things for myself, the process will be short and sweet - she is just so hard to buy for.  I love this place and wish I had one of those elaborate claw foot tubs to be worthy of the bath bombs - i actually take them on vacation with me sometimes when I know there will be a great tub!

I also love the freebies at the checkout - thanks!  And your gift assortments are wonderful - along with the cool wrapping paper they are in.  I think this store is so much better of an experience than the Lush locations in the department stores.....something about a stond-alone that just means better service.

I don't care for Lush in general, but I'm most familiar with this location, so I'll say this here: support businesses that make their own handmade cosmetics locally instead! Lush's stuff is ridiculously overpriced, half of it doesn't work AT ALL and it's mass produced/shipped in from elsewhere (Canada?). Not to mention, their employees can be a little, well, creepy in their zeal. Go to Mojo Spa on Milwaukee for much more reasonably priced and EFFECTIVE soap/skincare. Their Ambrosia facial serum knocks Skin's Shangrila, Skin Drink and even Gorgeous out of the water, their Medusa hair mask is a far more moisturizing and easy-to-use version of Jungle, their scrubs smell delicious and will give you much more for your money than Lush's sugar scrub bars, etc. As an ex-Lush junkie, I promise you: there's WAY better stuff out there. Not necessarily just Mojo Spa, either -- they're but one example of MANY other companies whose natural skincare products are far superior to Lush's. Break free from the cult! I mean, come on: jelly soap? Do you REALLY need that?

I first found Lush on one of my trips to London, maybe in 2001 or 2002. It was pricey but I even when you change $ for £ I don't remember it costing that much. On another trip to Amsterdam in 2002, I popped into yet another Lush down in Leidseplein. I notice from store to store the prices are fairly inconsistent. You can get a bar of soap in one location for $9 and for maybe $18 in another location, the same bar of soap we are talking. I love it so much, and I have to say I use the products from Lush sparingly because I don't care to spend that much on a routine basis for.... soap.

Before I moved to Chicago 3 years ago I would visit my BFF and totally use all of her Lush products. If I knew how expensive they are I probably wouldn't have used as much as I did, but she is my BFF and we share and share alike!

So, when I moved here visiting Lush was definitely on my list of places to go. Seems so simple, I know, but a girl will do anything for amazing body products, and Lush does not disappoint.

The staff here are always friendly and willing to tell you how their products work. If you are lucky you may even get a hand massage! I just love going in here and feel like I come away with a new favorite every time.

My favorite, though, is the Olive Branch shower gel and they now carry a solid perfume of Olive Branch, so I can smell like I just walked out of a Lush store every day! YAY!

What can I say, I'm a hussy for Lush!

I cannot pass this place without going in... and then I cannot go in this place without spending (at the very least) $100, and then I cannot get home fast enough to try out all my cool, new shiz.

This is the Lush that turned me into a believer. Prior to this locations fabulous staff, I had no idea how much joy was missing from my life. I don't know what I thought this place was... smelly, natural soap shop? No! It's every non-makeup beauty pampering/essential product all wrapped up in one convenient location.

I recommend the massage bars. You can use them all over your body and they seal moisture in. In the winter I rub them all over and into my hands so my skin doesn't get dry and cracked. I swear it has ultra, healing powers. And whenever I wear shorts or skirts I slather the massage bar on my gams to make them look sleek, slender, sexy, and shiny... AND I noticed that it locks in my body heat so when your legs are bare and you get a chill, little prickly hairs won't start sprouting up because you've magically sealed your legs with the massage bar. I think after using this you can even take a day off from shaving. And Earth to Lovers: they have an edible version of the massage bar as well.

For the men: My BF loves Lush products too- don't be shy. They're gender friendly, they won't make you break out, and theirs plenty of non-girly smells in there for all. I recommend their very manly shampoo bars... great for the low maintenance man or the rolling stone.

Dear Lush, I heart u always & 4 eva. xoxoxo

More times than I can count I've walked up and down Armitage trying to nonchalantly peek in LUSH without looking too stalky-creepy while trying to figure out what the hell they're keeping up in there. Is it cheese? Is it art supplies? Is it soap? A make your own soap store? That seems lame. And gimmicky. I gave 'em 6 months 'til until they became yet another B of A on a Lincoln Park corner.

Lucky for me though, my best gal pal Hilary P. is a LUSH devotee and has been singing the praises of their products for enough time now that I finally get it's not a make your own soap store... my trip into this beauty paradise even further proved just how much I've been missing out on!! It's so many things I never knew... hair care products, super rich skin care, body scrubs, massage therapy goodies, bath bombs, face masks, cleansers... shall I go on?

Every product is 100% vegetarian, made by hand and never tested on animals - it's even packed in recycled, environmentally friendly packaging that you can exchange for *new* goods. Just fresh, natural, earth happy ingredients that are phenomenal for your body!

It's true what they say, the products aren't cheap... but I can attest now after using them that they are high quality and they work! The Gorgeous Moisturizer is pure satin amazement for face while the Ocean Salt scrub is amazing for ridding your dying wintry skin everywhere, then finish yourself off with Dream Cream that polishes and smooths every inch of scratchy skin back to the healthy glow you know and love. Don't miss the famous bath bombs either - in either fizzy or foamy - they're fabulous fun with your rubber ducky!

I was so impressed overall by the quality of products but even more so by the staff in store - these shop girls rocked - super on top of their shit, really knowledgeable about products and ingredients and not one bit pushy. For the few items I wasn't sold on, I was sent home with generous samples and a hope that 'I'd be back soon'...

Hmmmm gushing 5 star review? Loving the goods? Yeah, I'll be back. Thank goodness they passed the 6 month test; shopping at Bank of America really sucks.

As Brett D. perfectly captures here, I am total enabler. Considering we've been BFFs for like half our lives, I know that she has the same weakness as me when it comes to all things beauty; makeup, lotions, soaps, bath bombs, etc. So I knew that Lush would become her new candy store as soon as we walked through their doors.

The staff here was just as friendly as I've come to expect from my Lush journeys all over the country. They always know their stuff, are anxious to let you try everything before you buy it, are super persuasive but never send me home with things I won't actually use on a very regular basis, and always treat you great whether you're spending $10 or $200.

I always love me some Lush but this store is definitely a great one with fantastic staff, an open and welcoming floorplan and come on...they sell a shower gel called "Sonic Death Monkey" (please tell me someone else loves that reference as much as I did) so you know you can't go wrong!

This is the only LUSH I have ever been in and I do love it. I am addicted seriously to their cold, live ace masks and everything from their Karma line. The employees are mostly helpful and really cool and nice, but there was one who came off as a bit snotty and I hate that when I am in a store about to buy something. But most of my experiences have been very positive and I love the products.

MMMMMMMMMM...the smell of this place has me hooked!  I'm going to have to come back here just to breath in the sweet goodness of this store!

It was my first time into the Lush store.  I've heard great things about their products, and being that I have super sensitive skin, thought I would give it a go, since my skin is so dry, and I needed to change up my morning routine.  The staff was very friendly, and attentive, AND I even got to bring my favorite guy, Ryno in!

I'll be back for sure, for the great products, and service!

I am a flight attendant, and I have been buying LUSH products long before they were available in the US, on layovers in Canada.  How lucky we are to have a LUSH store in Chicago!!!!

I love making the trip to the LUSH store on Armitage.  Everyone of the sales people there are awesome, and helpful.  That's why I go out of my way to take the brown line to the Armitage store, rather than walking across the street to the mini store in Macy's on state street!  They will let you sample anything before you buy it, and if you buy something and don't like it, bring it back!  Though I have NEVER had to return anything.

Over the years, I have tried pretty much everything that LUSH has to offer, and love everything.  Try the soaps... Just try them!  As I flight attendnant working 14 hours a day 3 days a week in recycled dry air, I can tell you this:  I take LUSH soap with me when I work.  It along with some moisturizer once and awhile is all I use to keep my skin from being dry.  If you want a fairly inexpensive way to treat yourself, try the bath bombs...  They make your skin super soft, and they fill your entire bathroom with wonderful and soothing scents.

****Getting around the 311 travel thing...  I use the solid perfume, soap, shampoo bars and solid conditioner when I travel for pleasure, and that frees up alot of space in my 311 bag!

Products to try that I love:

Soap:
Demon in the dark
Rockstar
Sultana of skin
Sexypeel
honey I washed the kids

Bathbombs:
Avobath
honeybee

Solid perfume:
Honey I washed the kids

Face products:
Emperialis
Sweet Japanese girl
Ocean Salt

Hair:
Squeaky green
Jungle
American cream
Synthia Silvia Stout
Big

Lotion:
Dream cream

Lush has no idea how grateful I am

Lush is a breath of fresh air.  Finally, a place that doesn't depend on chemicals for lather and fragrance.  If you like the scent of lush product, you're most likely smelling a real piece of fruit or flower. This place does not skimp on fresh ingredients that naturally improves the condition of hair and skin.  The only downfall, they also don't skimp on the prices.

If you're health conscious, eco-friendly, or vegetarian/vegan, you won't feel any guilt about your purchase.  This place is as unique as they come and you'll find that any product you absolutely love was designed specifically for you.  I've struggled with acne my whole life, but since switching all skin products to Lush (aqua marina, toner, and imperialis), my skin problems are finally starting to subside and reveal healthy skin.

Don't be scared of the raw, crude look to the products--they work!  They smell delicious too,  Enter LUSH with an open mind, and you will be so pleasantly surprised.

I absolutely love Lush and the Lush on Armitage is the best!  I first discovered Lush about 8 years ago while visiting London and when I moved to Chicago and found out they were here I sprinted over (ok, I took the train, but you get the point).

It's so much fun to look around, smell everything and just play with the soaps, bathbombs and buttercreams.  And the staff knows their stuff.  I hate going to stores, asking a question and getting a blank stare.  These girls (and guys) know what's in their products, what everything does and while they're great at making recommendations I never felt like something was being shoved at me.

My skin is oily and I've tried so many (expensive) products to get it to clear up.  When I went to Lush I was lucky to get Kelly, their manager, as my salesperson.  She listened, gave me some samples to try and now I'm totally hooked on Fresh Farmacy soap and either Gorgeous or Enzymion moisturizers.

Plus, during the winter Dream Cream moisturizer saves my dry hands from cracking (another big thanks to Kelly!)

If some apocalyptic event occurred and Lush Armitage went out of business I honestly don't know what I would do.  I've always been treated well and can't recommend it enough.

This is one of the most fun shops for BFF time or out of towners.   Great gifts for the gals in your life (which makes it boring the 2nd time).  The shop smells great & looks yummy, lots of milk & fruit & mud in the products.  Then there's the price.  You could blow your paycheck here so proceed with caution.  So...I've seen higher quality products, but Lush
are the most fun.

Mmm, bath bombs. Yes, they look pretty and the smell divine...but I can't eat them? That's the way you'll feel when you walk in this store that closely resembles the produce section of your local grocery. Only its more expensive. And of course these items NOT edible. No worries though, you'll purchase a $5 bath bomb, head home for a nice bath and thank your lucky stars that you can drift off and relax with your LUSH treat. All of the enjoyment and zero calories.

*Warning* LUSH may look like a fun place to bring your wee one but tell them the the rules of "please look but don't touch". There are many an item located at their level.

I just had my first Lush experience and I have to admit, I'm addicted.

It all started when I received their Wild Child (shower like a rock star) gift set from a friend. I loved the paper it was wrapped in, which was thick white paper with splotches of hot pink, purple, yellow. Think of it as a girly version of a Jackson Pollack.  Then inside the fun wrap were all these delicious smelling bathing products, such as, Chocolate Whipstick lip balm, Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel, Rock Star soap and a Flosty Gritter bubble bar.

Now, I can't wait to spend hours in the shower making my bathroom turn into a chocolate berry glitter bomb!  Now that's something to rock out to!

This is a fun place - cute and welcoming, full of friendly staff and pretty things to smell.  I was interested in trying several of the products... until I started looking at prices.

Friends, I just can't bring myself to drop $12+ on a big chunk of soap that I might not even like.  I had them cut me a small ($6) slab of one soap because I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.  It smells good and works like any soap, but I don't think it's really anything worth going back for.

I also picked up an Emotibomb ($3.95), which was supposed to make the steam in my shower smell nice.  It didn't seem to do much at all before it was all gone.

One of the associates cut me a piece of Aquamarina cleanser.  I don't like this at all.  You have to put a little piece in your hand, get it wet, then work it into a mask-like consistency.  Are you kidding me?  I don't have time for that crap!

I tried some of the chocolate lip balm in the store, too.  I thought it felt grainy on my lips and smelled OK for a minute but didn't taste nice at all.

So I guess the moral of the story is:  cute place, fun to explore and smell, but the products just aren't for me.

I've heard the name LUSH uttered on the lips of a number of friends, but had never experienced, well ... the experience, for myself. When I saw the storefront I grabbed my boyfriends hand and rushed in before he could utter a protest.

Once inside there was no protest, but only exclamations of "Oh, look at that" and "Ah, smell this". I hovered over the bath bombs for a good 5 minutes trying to decide what to buy, until the boy found something called "Sex in the Shower Emotibomb". I can only imagine why he picked this out, and we have yet to see if it's going to be as much fun as it sounds.

The sales staff was exceptionally friendly, and I was offered a "hand treatment". I knew that this would be a ploy to sell me some junk that I didn't want, but I took the bait anyways. The sales girl put numerous scrubs, soaps, and lotions on my hands and I must admit they felt incredibly and shockingly soft afterwards. So soft that I did buy a small slab of soap to rub over the rest of my body.

I appreciate what LUSH is doing, by trying to eliminate packaging waste. Most products are bought in slabs and they even have shampoo and conditioner in solid form. Things that are in bottles have a neat little sticker on the back showing you who, when and where you soap was made.

The sales girl that gave me my hand treatment also rang me up. While we were checking out she gave me a free sample of lotion. I know that free samples are probably common place, but she specifically remembered that I mentioned how I got awful dry hands in the winter. It was that extra personal touch that hooked me.

The first Lush storefront in Chicago was this one. And believe me, I was calling practically on a daily basis a few years ago when it was in the process of opening. I've been a Lush fanatic since I first bought their (now-discontinued) Red Rooster soap at a store in England back in undergraduate. That was before they opened up any stores in the U.S.

Staff has always been friendly. I'm a pretty independent shopper, so sometimes I feel a little too smothered by the sales associates. I know they're doing it because it's the job, so ...! I've gotten far too many of my friends hooked on Lush. Half the time, I know more than the associates simply because I've been a Lush consumer for so long!

Yes, very "granola" type business. Definitely also on the pricey side. This is a "treat" store. Seriously, don't plan on escaping without spending at least $50. The large size shower gels are nearly $25 each, depending on what you're getting!

Love so many of their products. Current favs: Olive Branch shower gel, Buffy scrub bar (smooth, like buttah!), the Comforter bubble bar, and the Vitamin E tab ($1.50ish? Seriously, it's the best cheap home facial you can give yourself!).

If you're an old-timer, like me, you know you can shop Lush online for the "Retro" products. Fabulous!

I love this place. It's heaven. From the smell to the sight! This store is quaint and it's not open in a mall like another Lush is - although that Lush is great too, I love Lush no matter, I just love this Lush better.
The staff is ALWAYS super nice and funny and they want to touch your hands and give you great hand smoothness - which they always accomplish. They basically scrub your hands then wash then moisturize. Pretty basic but wonderful!
I love everything here, can't really complain. Try Lush. Just go once and you'll be hooked. You can walk around the store and pick up the yummy smelling balls of stuff and sniff. Sniff, sniff!! Mmm, Lush.

My friends have tagged me as a "Watino" (stands for White+Latino), and with much justification.  I'm a Caucasian guy who speaks Spanish fluently, did his undergrad in Latin American/Latino Studies & Spanish, talks constantly about his travels & experiences in Latin America and just simply wishes he were Latino.
Well Lush made mine and my friend's dream come true, well 95% true.  I went in to Lush hunting out a body soap that didn't have any coconut extractions in it due to skin allergies (yes, it's in practically any product that bubbles or cleans--often in tiny print beginning with coco/a).  The lovely employee Kelly there found me two possible options: A Ring of Roses or Heavenly Bodies Buttercream.  The first option would leave me smelling extremely feminine, not saying that's a bad thing.  But I preferred the second which reminded me of that old radio commercial promoting "hheeeeavenly bodies" for women to strip for extra money to cut down on their reliance on men (except it's an oxymoron).  I liked Chocolate truffle scent and even more so with oranges in it.  I paid my $12 for the tiny trial piece of soap and jumped on the brown line back home to try it out.  And honestly, I was surprised I made it home without chewing a chunk off to taste it.
That's where the Latino part comes back in to play.  While I smelled good, it covered me from head to toe in brown "chocolate" dye!  Not only that but my bath cloth, body towel, shower curtain and bath tiles were all discolored!  So I'm all for organic, aromatic products with cute names but when I spend good money on something, I expect a little bit more.  I will give it to them though because my skin did not break out or peel and I say they need to come out with a white soap that smells like Suavitel to make me Latino without the Michael Jackson attempt.

So in the end:
-If you bring me or probably any of your friends in here, it'll flatten our wallets instantly just by taking a whiff of the organic soaps and products.
-Do not eat the products even though they look like their out of a toy store (It's not Play Doe!).
-Avoid any dark/brightly colored products (brown, black, green, red, etc).

Lush is almost as addicting as Yelp, but a lot more expensive.

Darn them, and their "Karma" creme, their "Karma" soap, their "Karma" everything!!!

Bath Bombs, and Massage Bars, and Body Butters...oh my!!!

Cute, knowledgeable, perky staff.

Just walking by the open door and taking a whiff puts me in "bubble heaven".

How to Seduce Clueless Man (using appropriately named products from Lush):
Fill bath with warm water and deposit one Lush bath bomb in "Sex Bomb" scent.
Retain second bomb for later.
Display array of Lush soaps (Sanadalwood bar and King of Skin Bar)
Light Candles.
Pour Drinks.

Answer door in towel.
Boy walks thru front door, raises his head and sniffs the air air "What's that? Mmmmm... Wait, a bath?  Is that for me? Do I smell?"
(Raises arm and sniffs himself)
"I don't smell! But that smells... nice... really good... can I have the bath? I can! Cool! Wait... You're coming too? This is AWESOME!"

If I had all the money in the world, aka, a disposable income, I'd spend a ton of money here.  Staff is friendly, and it's wonderful if you're looking for something as a "thank you" gift... or just because.  What lady wouldn't love a fizzy bath bomb to relax in?

When I discovered this place 4 years ago, I became hooked.

BIG shampoo is where it's at...

And of the facial cleansers are great.  Not harsh on the skin and they have something for everyone.

I'd buy stock if I could.

PS-- My other favorite products:

*Snowcake soap (usually only available around the Holidaze)
*Any of the dusting powders
*The solid perfume in 'Potion' and 'Flying Fox'

I could spend hours... and you should to!

Aside from the fact Lush has their staff frolicking outside with bubbles like out-of-date hippies straight from a clown funeral- this place is great for the fragrance tolerant. The company has sucessfully brainwashed their low-wage employees, probably through exposure to the Sex-bomb bath ball, and as a result they have a Lush cult. I realized this when I went a few days without my fix of "Fever Solid Perfume"-
Super sexy floral bouquet makes inhibitions vanish. You have to drop our inhibitions to pay their prices...

Honestly, I love Lush. The chocolate cupcake mask is an aromatic delight and pore tightening! The facial products are the best and actually work.
I recc:
Fresh Pharmacy
Herbalism
Ocean salt (there's Vodka in that--wowze)
lip balms great too!
I minused a star...because the staff is just a bit Jim Jonesy. :)

Everyone loves Lush! nothing I am going to say is going to be a surprise at all- so I'll just say - try the oh la la soap its smells like a slutty angel.
The only thing I hate is that they don't have an entire line of products with that wonderful smell. Im going to have to go to one of those 'make your own scent' places to get it.

I really love Lush- love the concept, the products, the packaging and the store.  The only thing I don't love is the prices......

The first time I saw a Lush store was in Budapest, Hungary and it was much cheaper.  So when i saw the prices here in Chicago it was a bit shocking.  I do think the products are worth it though, and they make great gifts.

I love the sea salt face scrub, I think it has magic ingredients because it makes your skin so soft! Wish they'd come out with a total body version. I'd buy it!

Luscious luscious indeed. I could go on about Dream Cream and their face moisturizers, but I'm here to go crazy about one product;
Buffy the Backside Slayer soap. I mean WOW. It exfoliates and leaves this moisture layer behind, making it perfect for those with very dry skin in the winter. You could even skip the shaving gel with this little beauty. I'm not usually this wowed by a product but this one blew me away.

Wow.

I LOVE Lush. The bath melts are amazing. They just smell so good.

This place has such a wide selection of bath and body products that you really can find something for everyone. The array of scents/varieties is amazing. I could spend all day (and all my money) in here. It IS pricey. A bath melt (yes, a one time use bath melt) is around $6.

It's a lot of money for one bath, but it's worth it once in awhile.

Years ago, when I was on vacation I went to Lush for the first time.  I fell in love.  Now that it's here, I still love it, but since I'm not on vacation and I'm back in reality, I realize I shouldn't spend $15 on a bar of soap.

Still, it's a great place.  Their staff is enthusiastic, helpful, and always willing to give product demonstrations.  Most of the stuff smells wonderful (Lemony Flutter, Rock Star Soap, Therapy Massage Bar)... but, some has too much of a hippie dippy scent for me (i.e. Dream Cream... thanks, but I'd rather not smell like chamomile tea)

Okay, so I'm a sucker for bright packaging and that "we're from the U.K." allure--but I am not such a fan of tie-dying my tub.  Or cleaning it more often than necessary, to be more precise.

Sure, a glitter covered hot pink bath bomb might look appealing on display at Lush and it might make some fun bubbles in my bath, but what's supposed to be a relaxing experience turns into a pile of work when you have to whip out the Comet as soon as your pink glitter water swirls down the drain.

I do like the friendly folks at the shop and I appreciate that their products aren't tested on animals, but maybe they should be tested on porcelain...

So three stars for friendly service, fun-looking products and for "Happy Hippy"--the citrusy body wash/shampoo that isn't artificially colored and doesn't make a mess of my shower and tub!  And kind of maybe a little bit more of a star for their "Happy" soap--it smells awesome and scents the whole bathroom.  But only a *little* bit more of a star because its bright orange suds make me dread another tub cleaning.

I would give this place five stars if it weren't charging so much money for soap. Soap that is made up the same components found in your everyday dish soap! But....it's extremely interesting to check out all of their interesting cobinations of leaves, seaweed, and even avacados!
I admit....it's a bit pricey but I can't walk out of there without getting something. Everyone is super helpful and although that bath oil is only going to last you one bath....it's still worth it.

I love to try a new bar of soap every time my last one runs out.  And Lush has plenty of soap for me to try.

My only gripe is that the soap is pretty expensive for something that lasts only a week or two.  If you're looking for a bar of long-lasting soap try Fresh.

Everything else though is amazing (and while the soap lasts, it's usually pretty great)....

It smells! It smells profoundly....of flowers and herbs and spices and musk and all kinds of smelly things girls like.

Lush, I liked you better when I had to mail order products from Canada. Who would ever think the great white north would get Lush before we did?

Glad to have you here. Even if your sales people brainwash me every time I go in.

Skin care is my business. I pride myself on researching all the popular brands so that I can help my clients make educated choices. This is how I justify the fact that I am a product junkie.

I was very excited to try Lush products after reading so much about them. Oof...was I disappointed. I found their body products to be too emollient (and I have dry skin). Seriously - I felt as though I was coated in Crisco. The bath fizzies are nice but cripes- they are a lot of money for sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. Besides - who the hell wants sparkles/glitter in their bath fizzie?? That is a royal pain to clear up, not to mention you look like a stripper named Kandy when you rise out of the tub.

Finally, their face products were insane. They have a product that is made of sea salt. For the face. Ouch. Do they want you to follow this with a battery acid toner?

My expert advice - save your money and go buy more effective products at a fraction of the cost at the local drugstore. Or, if you want to splurge, there are plenty of effective products to pretty you up at Sephora.
