Wow. My first reaction when I walked into this place was "man, this place has really really gone to the hippies." It's always been a haven for dreadlocks and organic beer, but it seems to have gotten even more hippie-ish with the addition of organic ground beef and organic ham on the toppings list.
Thankfully, however, nothing else changed. The ordering system is quite the same: order at the counter, pay up front, take a number, fill your coke cup, sit down, and wait. Side note, the beer selection got even bigger, if that was possible. The wait wasn't long, the pizza was as delicious as ever. We split a medium, with cheese on her half and ground beef, ham, and bacon on my half (nice and healthy). The crust is very thin, with just the right amount of crunch, the toppings were plentiful, and the sauce is simply to die for. It's like P-Johns in the sense that it's very sweet, but it also has some tang and spice to it. Also unlike P-Johns, it's fresh-made in house every day.
Overall, a great experience and consistently one of the best places for pizza that I've yet to experience.
I fuckin' love this place! YUM! Great pizza, and cute, eclectic atmosphere. Lots of toppings to choose from. I really miss this place since moving to Knoxville, none of the pizza here compares!!

I love Lupi's. Not only can you choose all toppings and crust, even if you just get a slice, but they will let you top your lasagne with whatever as well. Veggie or traditional lasagne! Also, really great employees. Always helpful and friendly. Been to all the stores, and I'd say Hixson is the best. Worth a try again and again.
I'm a sucker for Christmas lights year-round, which elevates Lupi's to a special place in my memory. I'm certainly a fan of customized pizza, and this place has a great selection of toppings. Though there are other pizza joints I might prefer, none of them are in Chattanooga. This is my pick du jour for pizza whenever I'm in town!
Lupi's is my absolute FAVORITE pizza place in Chattanooga. The calzones are amazing. Not sure why other reviewers don't like their crust because I think it's delicious. All their toppings are incredibly fresh, and there are lots of choices. The service is really fast, especially considering how busy they are all the time. The other pizza places in town seem to have lazy and slow staff consistently. Try their garden salad with the herbed vinaigrette. That and a slice of pizza with Italian sausage, roasted peppers and blue cheese kills me every time. This a fantastic local spot!

The sustained popularity of Lupi's consistently befuddles me. I've been here at least a dozen times when I used to live in Tennessee, and I was never impressed. The interior is poorly lit. Do customers like not being able to see well? The edge of the counter around the beverage dispenser is sticky. Is that fun to deal with right before you sit down to your pizza? Each booth has an industrial-chic metal table and a dimmer switch for the light. Are these features more important than a quality pizza?
The crust of a Lupi's pizza is thin, floppy, slightly gummy, and lacking in texture. The toppings aren't bad, but the moisture and weight of the toppings will completely overwhelm the thin, puny crust. (If you can call it that.) Often, the cheese and toppings will slide right off when you pick up a slice or try to cut it. On the whole, the pizza could hardly be called bad (the sauce is actually nice and zesty), but there are so many better choices!

If you want pizza in Chattanooga, there is no better place than Lupi's.
In fact, if you want pizza in just about any city I've ever been to, you'd be better off getting in a car or on a plane and heading over to Lupi's.
There is a wide selection of awesome beers. Not just a wide selection of beers.
The list of toppings is long and full of great stuff - you can get peppers, of course, but can also get roasted red peppers; if you order the garlic, you get big ol' garlic chunks on the pizza; the basil is fresh and perfect. Sun-dried tomatoes? Pesto? Whatever. They have it and it is very, very good.
The bread loaf and salads are well-made and excellent compliments to the pizza itself.
Home-made cookies and deserts are always available.
And the people that work here are FOR REAL FRIENDLY. No snooty, downtown-cool-place-to-hang-out attitude or anything. The place is unique and beautiful and just gives off an excellent vibe.
100% love here. Zero problems.
Also, they have a Mrs. Pac Man machine!! YES!
This place wasn't too bad, but it did fail to impress me.
A group of us headed here for dinner on a cold and rainy day, looking to refuel. Our group mostly ordered pizza and calzones, but I had the veggie lasagna.
The pizza eaters seemed pretty happy and there weren't any leftovers. The calzones were monster-sized and looked impressive, but nobody really thought they were that great. My lasagna tasted okay, but was sorely lacking in veggies and was mostly just drowned in cheese. The fresh-brewed iced tea was good.
Overall, the menu is really limited in scope and most of the food fails to impress. I guess this is a good pizza-only stop, but I'm much too loyal to Silvio's of Ann Arbor, MI to eat pizza anywhere else.
Calzones as big as your head.

My friends and I always go to Lupi's after rock climbing at nearby Foster Falls. Lupi's has great pizza--tons of fresh toppings piled on a thin crust. I'm partial to the whole wheat with spicy chicken or anchovies.
They've also got great calzones and lasagna, as well as an extensive bottled beer selection. There are always tons of young people there, so it seems like a pretty cool place to be.
We were driving through TN and decided to stop someplace to catch a quick bite. I used Yelp on my iPhone to search for a spot in Chattanooga and found several spots. We agreed to go to Mellow Mushroom just down the street from Lupi's. We showed up and were told that there was a 30 minute wait. We didn't want to wait the 30 mins. I jumped back on the iPhone and Yelp and found Lupi's. We went in and I fell in love. You can make your own slice of pizza or calzone. I made my own calzone. The sauce they include was fresh and tasty. This place was so good, I made it a point to return on our way back through TN. I didn't get a chance to try any of the beers as I was the main driver, but the beer selection is excellent.
I ate here for lunch while in town on business. I had a slice of pizza and I like that you can order whatever toppings you want and a whole wheat crust even if you are only ordering once slice. Overall not too bad.
I've only eaten here once. I ordered a slice and it seemed to take forever. When it finally came, it was very good. I would recommend you go here instead of Mellow Mushroom. I will return whenever I'm in Chattanooga.

Good but often the bottom of the pizza will be burnt or the top undercooked. Go to the hixson lupi's.
Lupi's is the place for pizza in Chattanooga. Unlike a lot of places, you can order by the slice and get exactly what you want. Fresh toppings and the whole wheat crust option makes for a somewhat healthy meal. The red sauce is also really good. It has a bit of a kick, can't tell if it's heavy on garlic or pepper, or maybe both. They are a bit conservative with the red sauce, so if you're like me, you may want to get some extra on the side. I also really like the Lupi's salad with dried tomato French. Yum.
Lupi's kicks butt. They have been around for 13+ years and still have a line out the door for a reason... Its good. First timers.... be patient.. there is a method to the madness. You WILL get a table. Suggestion... if you have a group of people order small pizzas with different toppings instead of '1 large pepperoni.' (1 small for 2 peeps) If you are alone... don't get a slice... get a Calzone.
this place has really good calzones, and a decent pizza. They would get an even higher score if they had better pizza. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's just not phenomenal (I think mellow mushroom has better pizza). Their calzones however are really thick, and packed with cheese and 'toppings.' They're also pretty quick. I'd say you're looking at about 30 to 45 minutes here at lunch time. They are really popular, and there is good reason for it. I think everyone visiting should try it at least once. The only thing is the last time I went there they were still closed on Mondays (I don't know why).
