Mmm, I just had their Prosciutto and Brie on Ciabatta, then they gave it a little grillin on the panini press. Thick slices of brie with just enough prosciutto for flavor not over-powering the cheese.
Small but cute cafe in shop. Fresh and tasty. Such a different feeling in there than the norm in the area. Nice change of pace for a Sat late nooner.

Who can turn down a vintage-y little ice cream and sandwich shop with a nine-foot tall giraffe on the front porch?
Not I says the wise woman.
My beautiful two year old sidekick and I hit up Lunchbox for the first time last week and I was not only in love with the wonderful kitsch inside the store, but my daughter had a killer clearly homemade ice cream in an old-school cone. The food reminds me of Auntie Em's, but it's much more boutiquey and intimate. The only seating is outdoor to accommodate the fun merch inside, but don't let that deter you. It's perfect for an afternoon soda or sandwich and a cone or cup.
And for those LA insiders, I found out from the cool gal working that day that Lunchbox is owned by the original owner of Y-Que (she had long sold out of there by the 90s, I believe). Nice to see she's back in action in a great Silverlake spot.
P.S. get a look at the hand painted Indian-inspired chairs inside. They were somethin'.

I LOVE Lunchbox - let me count the ways... excellent and inspired sandwiches, soups and salads... the sweetest waitstaff, who also are talented baristas, working with delicious coffee... it's nestled within the charmingly eccentric giftstore Zanzabelle... it's located in the most unpretentious little nook in Los Feliz/Silver Lake... cappuccino crunch ice cream for dessert! This is a place to enjoy a serene, blissful day and be thankful to be a grown-up little kid with an appreciation for life's little pleasures.

Such a good find! Had an amazing Cuban sandwich and a coffee, sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine... The menu changes constantly and is always fresh with plenty of carnivorous, veggie, and vegan choices. The staff was friendly and helpful and put up with my roommates and I tasting spoonfuls of salty caramel ice cream and pondering over their giftshop full of books and random goodies.
Ever since The Backdoor Bakery closed under highly dubious circumstances (I smell a Modem Salon/LaMill conspiracy, personally), The BF and I have been casting about for a great coffee/munchie/hangout spot in Silver Lake.
I hesitate to even mention fantastic, wonderful, adorable, delicious, accommodating Lunchbox for fear that it will become overrun with hipster-poseurs, however, ultimately I decided that Jon & Matt deserved the support. And also, that even the greatest place requires critical mass to stay open, and I'll be damned if I'll be forced to pay $4 for coffee at LaMeh or any money for anything at Coffee Table, who can't seem to pull a decent espresso or master the rudimentary basics of egg cookery.
To be fair, I have not eaten anything there yet (outside of the Salty Caramel ice cream, which was insanely great). But I see people coming in for sacks--gigantic, enormo-sacks, I tell you--of fresh salads and sandwiches every time I'm there, so clearly, that's a draw.
The biggest selling points to me are the fantastic service and possibly even more fantastic outdoor patio, with lots of shady tables (and free wifi, although thus far, I've resisted.) The owners and all of the people who work there are friendly, courteous, charming and work their butts off to provide a pleasant dining experience, even if the only thing you're dining on is an Americano (expertly pulled, with perfect crema!)
As someone else pointed out, Lunchbox is also extremely dog-friendly, which one appreciates once one has a dog.
I still love Cafe Tropical and their hearty Americanos, but the mellower brew and patio and, let's face it, proximity, make it my new-fave coffee hang. Sort of like the casual-excellence version of the always-superb Blair's, just across the street. Truthfully, I think I could ping-pong between them and nothing else, and not miss much.
Just got back from *Lunchbox* and had to Yelp about it! So cute. So cozy. I ate the Tomato Sage Soup w/ Quinoa Salad, and Coffee & Cream Ice Cream! YUM! A wonderful little place to grab lunch and enjoy the weather. I highly recommend it. Great place to grab a fun, unique gift too. They have lots of cool books, journals, nic-naks and such. Go here! My lunchbox never tasted this good!
Convenient to the Silverlake dog park via short car ride with a dog friendly patio out front, this place is a treat for pooch and human alike. I went there today with my neighbor and her dog and they gave us free water just for the thirsty canine. Awww, how nice.
We were originally going to head to Coffee Table but they insist that you tie your dog to the front mini gate by the liliputain outdoor eating area up front. "What about the back yard patio, can I take her there? " The answer was a resounding no. With that reply, we headed down to Lunchbox.
I had the quinoa salad and a bag of pickle flavored (yes, I haven't seen one since my trip to Canada) potato chips. The salad was oozing healthiness from the pine nuts and shaved parmessano reggiano to the healthy bundle of spicy greens (arugula?) My neighbor enthused about their tomato sage soup.
The Lunchbox was soccer mom central because we were there around 3PM- just when Ivanhoe School got out. Further evidence of the soccer momness was their super cute selection of books, cards, games and toys- high quality stuff.
Just as we were about to leave, my neighbor spotted the Fosselman's imprint on the ice cream trough. We both thoroughly enjoyed our chocolate and vanilla cones (I'm all about the real vanilla bean) and vowed to come back when I get my adopted pooch.
Hell yea this place gets my vote!

Talk about an intimate, delicious, special place. In the best way, this is the antithesis of corporate-dining (not that an occasional meal at CPK with the kids isn't fun). The perfect neighborhood place.
Sweet little find in Silverlake. Hard to imagine Zanzabelle gifts could have a cafe equivalent, but alas.... here she be. Great sandwiches, amazing coffee, desserts, everything inventive, PLUS the outdoor seating, so charming. Well done, a great addition to the neighborhood.
