If you are looking for a terrible, $hitty, no-good-very-bad lunch, don't come here.
(if you are looking for those same things for breakfast or mid-day snackies, same deal, stay awayyy from the Lunch Box)
If you are looking for one of the best (if not the best) cafes EVS, you've come to right place. Here's what you can expect:
- a veritable smorgasbord of salads to choose from, including artichoke salad, antipasto, fresh tuna salad, wedge salad 3-ways, tabouleh, etc.
- homemade tortilla chips that are totally sinful and completely TDF (yummmmsville) & awesome, fresh salsa with a fresh, tomato-y taste and a little hint of a spicy bite that goes perfectly with any sammie, day or night
- homemade egg mcmuffins for those early mornings when you just don't have time to grab a bowl of Special K Red Berries before heading out the door
- fresh fruits & veggies
- taco bar!!!!
- create-your-own sandwiches with anything - literally anything - you would ever imagine having on a deli sandwich (grilled cheese, pb&j, cream cheese & pickles, whatever!)
- nacho bar
- ice cream in a rainbow of flavors (fat-free sorbets, vanilla, a new flavor daily (chocolate! nutella! mint chip! cookie dough! need I say more?!) and milkshakes!) that taste so super-fresh and creamy, they will melt your socks off!
- lines at peak hours to beat the band :(
Lunch Box is SO worth the wait. I give it two thumbs up, five stars, whatEVER... it satisfies my lunch cravings hardcore... AND the most expensive thing on the menu only costs $0.00, which is fairly reasonable!
... yes, I work at Google, so yes, the food here is free. If you don't work at the 'plex, find someone who does so you can be their +1 and indulge in a lunch filled with sliced turkey wishes and animal cracker ice cream dreams. Mmmm!

The Lunch Box is a cool little place basically made for desserts and snacking that also happens to serve meals. They've tacked up lunch boxes on the walls and use a fun typewriter font on all the signs.
There appear to be two main draws:
1) Made to order sandwiches (there are several selections on the menu or you can fill out a mini form to make a custom sandwich).
and
2) Ice cream and floats. The husband was excited about this place because they make mini root beer or Orangina floats. I'm not too into floats, but I was impressed by their ice cream selection (they make their own and they take suggestions for the future). I opted for the non-fat raspberry yogurt. I couldn't decide if the tangy tartness was from the fruit or the yogurt, but this yogurt was much tangier than usual (not a bad thing - just different). It was probably my favorite thing at The Lunch Box.
There is also an antipasto and composed salad bar. Unfortunately the curried zucchini slices, sherried mushrooms, and garlic carrots from the antipasto bar were only okay, and the fancy lettuce and walnut salad with vinaigrette was way too salty. The couscous was fine but nothing special.
Among the other dishes I tried:
Really Good
Turkey sandwich with hummus and red pepper (The husband really liked. I wasn't as into it as he was but it was still pretty good.)
Just Okay
Chicago style sausage pizza (It mostly tasted like a deep dish pizza but the textures were pretty off. Decent job though for a place that's not a Chicago pizzeria.)
This is located in the Crittenden corner of campus with a nice lawn for dogs.
