As a guy with long hair, can I just say it is a BITCH trying to find a decent stylist who knows how to cut my hair properly? I tried different places for a solid two years before I met the answer to my hair prayers. Mickey at Lunatic Fringe is not only a great stylist, but just an awesome person as well. She is really attentive to what you want and makes sure that she does it right, even if it takes a little longer. I am very particular about my hair, so believe me I wouldn't be giving her the praise if she didn't deserve it.
My hair looks great for months because it grows out so well after Mickey has worked her magic and it honestly is not that expensive to get it cut either. Sure you can go to GreatClips and save maybe $20, but do you really want some amateur with a set of hedge trimmers going at your hair? I don't! Go to Lunatic Fringe, ask for Mickey, and enjoy an amazing haircut experience!
I got my hair done at Lunatic Fringe for the first time today. It is, by far, the best hair cut I have ever had and the color is exactly what I asked for. Like Adiel C. said, it's so interesting to watch what all the other stylists are doing because literally every client that walks in that door walks out looking way better. I would completely trust any of Lunatic Fringe's stylists with my hair.
I heart Lunatic Fringe and Zach! I moved here from San Diego and went here off of a recommendation from my boyfriend. I have NEVER liked a haircut in all my 27 years until I found Zach. The salon is trendy but not obnoxious, great music playing and the stylists are incredibly nice. They clearly get along with one another and always include you in the conversation. After getting my hair shampooed and my head massaged I felt like having a cigarette! Great star treatment for an incredibly reasonable price. Love it.
Dear Lunatic Fringe,
I love you. No really. I started going here about 4 years ago when I met Kevin Snow at one of my DJ gigs. He gave me his card and told me he could do so much with my hair. He was right. I have been going to him ever since. I even moved to San Francisco and FLY OUT just for his haircuts. They are so affordable for the quality. They grow out great too, which is important since I can't fly out as often as I'd like to get trims. People here ask me who cuts my hair and are bummed when I say he lives in Salt Lake!
I also love the design of the actual salon and that they named their shampoo room the 'lather lounge'. It's got music playing and the lighting is dim so you're not staring up into a bright light while you get a shampoo. They are great about offering you coffee or water while you wait, too.
My mother once told me, your hair is unlike clothes, because you can't take it off if you don't like it. You need to find somewhere that makes you love your hair EVERY time you go. I've found that in Lunatic Fringe. The place is full of great stylists. I love to watch them work because they all turn out fantastic hair on everyone they touch. They're super professional, but friendly enough that they make you feel like an old friend. If you're unsure of which great stylist to make you feel fantastic, I recommend asking for Zach Norman!
After moving to Salt Lake from Los Angeles, I was unsure of where to get my hair cut...I checked review after review of various salons (mainly on citysearch) and finally decided on Lunatic Fringe on Parley's Way. I read Maren C's comment about Kevin Snow and booked an appointment the next day. I couldn't be happier! He was more than capable of handling my naturally wavy hair and I walked out of the salon beyond happy that I had finally found the right stylist for me! Thank you Kevin!
