Review from Chuck T.
Hartford, CT
This is by far my favorite pizza place in West Hartford. Crisp, flavorful crust a great sauce.
I always stick with the margerhita as my go-to pie. Its not the cheapest pizza in town but you definitely get what you pay for! -

What's this place does, it does well. They have great thin crust pizza. They do a great job of giving you a crispy crust without spending the whole slice. The tomato sauce has just a hint of sweetness without overdoing it. Their grinders are also excellent, especially the eggplant Parmesan. It would be great if they had a slightly broader menu including some pasta, but kudos to them for picking a few things and doing them well. Harry's pizza is great as well, but it is more comfortable dining in at Luna especially if you have children.

The pizza is pretty good if you're looking to grab a slice or two for lunch. I like it. I don't love it.

Luna Pizza is the best place for pizza in CT. I have tried the other places, but always return to Luna. The pizza is just fantastic. It costs a bit more than some of the other places, but you definitely get what you pay for. My favorites are the ricotta, vegetarian, and the plain.

Review from Sarah S.
While the pizza my fiance and I ordered-- a medium margherita-- was deserving of four stars, Luna loses points because it's overpriced. $20 for an eight slice, thin crust pizza with basic toppings is excessive by most standards. We ordered a house salad to share, which was basic but reasonably priced, and one drink each. Our total was around $45, including tip. Given that we were only two people, didn't order a bunch of appetizers and drinks, and Luna is a glorified pizza pub, I felt a little swindled.
Our waitress was friendly and competent, and the service was prompt. If not for the fact that the pizza was so expensive, we'd probably make a return trip. -

Last night my fiancee and I decided to have pizza for dinner to celebrate the end of Passover. We got to Luna at 8:30 -- a half hour before closing, which is a bit early for a pizza place -- and there were two other tables of people eating there. The waitress ignored us and the cashier reluctantly "allowed" us to sit at a table. They very obviously were already getting ready to close a half hour early, and did NOT want to start a new table. I've never seen a business try so hard, on a slow night like Tuesday, try to turn away business. Looking back, we should have just walked out.
The service was surly, at best. The waitress did her job properly, but she was unfriendly and clearly resented our presence.
The pizza itself was fine (I prefer their thin crust over the usual chewy, doughy pies you'll find in CT), although the kitchen ran out of basil, which made our margherita pizza taste a lot less like a margherita pizza. It's also VERY overpriced. Two medium pizzas and two diet cokes for $41? If I hadn't used a groupon, I would have felt swindled. Given the price and the lousy service, I will not be going back. Especially since Harry's is right next door. -

This is a tough place to review, because I have nothing bad to say about the food. My fiancee and I split a medium margherita pizza and a house salad. I really enjoyed the pizza and the salad was fine, but $45 (including tip) for two people to have pizza, salad and one drink each is just too expensive.
Also, the pizza was listed on the menu for $17 and change, but when we got the check it was actually $19 and change. Two dollars isn't the end of the world, but it was kind of annoying.
Our server was very good, so no complaints there.
Decent selection of beers, which is always a plus.
Not sure I'll go back, but I don't regret going once. Great pizza, just wish it was a little less expensive. -

Was never really blown away by their pizza, but returned because we got a Groupon and...still wasn't blown away. Their large pies aren't very large, and while they're thin crust, it's more floppy than crispy. Pretty expensive, too. To be fair, in another town, they'd probably seem a lot better, but because there are so many fantastic pizza joints in West Hartford, they suffer by comparison.

I went to Luna this past Saturday for a little post Christmas/ post shopping pizza with my sister & brother in law. I've been here before and after this past visit, Luna is definitely just 3 stars good for me. I prefer the "other" West Hartford spot for pizza. Luna is good pizza, the cheese has that nice saltiness to it, the sauce is good but the crust, it's thin but... well, it's just not my favorite. It's a little too airy for me. The toppings are always fresh, the mozz, the tomatoes and they are not stingy on their clams at all.
They have a decent selection of sandwiches, salads and beverages and the service was on par. -

Okay, I live in California but visit Connecticut at least twice a year. I always make my family go to Luna to have a pizza. It is in my humble experience the best pizza I have ever had. Yes, I have tried the greats, Peppy's and Sally's in New Haven etc. etc.
In my taste Luna wins. Best damn pizza I ever had.
I go two or three times a year. Religiously.
Thin crust. Don't get too heavy on the toppings. I usually get just a plain cheese pizza and perhaps a bit of sausage. Even my wife agrees, although she hasn't spent years in search of the best pizza.
My only lack of excitement is the restaurant, it's nice but hard floors and walls, noise really bounces around in there. If it's busy it's a little loud. But I put up with noise to feed my pizza desire.
I LOVE LUNA. -

The best pizza in Connecticut.
And miles better than that place in New Haven...What's it called?
Luna is outstanding. Great location in West Hartford Center. -

Very good pizza, but we probably made a mistake to eat here rather than take the pizza home. The restaurant atmosphere is almost non-existent, a long dining room, with little decoration, unflattering lighting, and an empty echoing sound if not many people are in the place. On the other hand, the food was great - and maybe on a more happening night, the place would have been more of a "fun" night out than it was for us.

Halfway decent pizza ... Poorly run deliery...waited 30 minutes for the driver who forgot my cc receipt and said he would be back, then I finally called and had them tell me don't worry about it... waste of time for under-cooked , sub-par pizza

New York, NY
One of my favorite places to go for pizza and that includes New York City. Thin crust and just the right combination of tomato sauce and cheese. I always takes the kids here. We get the large pie with half sprinkled with pepperoni and the other half regular.
The setting is in West Hartford Center which as small cities go, is rather nice with pedestrians first attitude, much more esthetically pleasing then the endless strip malls in Northern Virginia where I regularly work and spend most of my time in.
Has waiter Service which is plodding to say the least but the usual one waitress is at least amicable. -

That Rastaman from Bensonhurst opened his first one at the Farmington Valley Mall. He uses FRESH mozzerella (light...) and crushed tomatoes for the sauce. Slices are crisp and thin...
The white pie is fantastic as well. Websters definition of a good NY 'za -

I live up in West Hartford during the work week, and on Wednesdays my roommate and I have ordered in pizza from this place. I've never been inside, but I drive by every day and it looks like a very clean, cozy space. Outside seating looks adorable.
However - the pizza. Not a bad pie, but thin crust does not a good pizza make. The crust is dry, with no flavor. Last time we ordered a plain cheese pie, and also a white pie. The sauce/cheese on the plain was fine, though nothing special, but the white pie was practically cardboard. I'd be willing to bet that something with a little more moisture would make a better meal - vegetables, maybe? -

Went here only because I got a half price gift certificate from groupon. http://www.groupon.com...
The pizza was very good. We got the margarita. My only complaint would be the service. It seemed like they were well understaffed on the front end--one waitress for the enter dining room. So she was not very attentive. Also, the food seemed to be kind of expensive. There was 3 of us in my party so I didn't think we would use up the whole $40 gift certificate, but we went over! -

Good pizza, but expensive. The portions aren't on par with the price.

I love the thinness of the crust - it's just right! Mmmm. It's one of my favorite Pizza restaurants to visit when I'm in the area.

tasty!
it's my fallback for "i dont know where to go for dinner" and "hey someone order us a pizza!" nights. pizza's good, delivery is relatively quick. i recommend. eating in is loud/a little slow, but delivery is super worth it. -

When ever I had enough money during school I would come here after classes to start the weekend with friends, cold beer, and the best pizza money can buy. I don't miss CT all that much, but this place is definitely one of the things i do miss.

I came here a couple of years ago with my friend and man-oh-man I am regretting not making a return trip before I moved out of Connecticut! Ten times better than any delivery chain, hands down.

Top notch pizza! My favorite is a white pie with chicken cutlet and broccoli and heavy dash of red pepper and Parmesan. I knock off 1 star for price because the last time I ordered 2 large pies it was almost $50.

I used to be convinced this was the best pizza north of New Haven; even with a New Haven-style place open in Manchester, I still think it might be true. It's thin crust, with just the right amount of everything. (Just don't order it with too many toppings or you'll throw the whole thing off.)
Everyone wants to call their pizza "New York style" but this is honestly better than some I've had in New York. Worth fighting the crowds around West Hartford Center for, if you're in the area. -

Good pizza, and garlic bread (with bits of wonderful fresh garlic, yum!). Service, ehh. I'll go here for the pizza, but maybe I should just get it delivered in order to avoid the lackluster service.

West Hartford, CT
I go here for lunch sometimes, great atmosphere. the staff seems really experienced and isn't overly pushy (i.e.: they don't make their presence constantly by my table side). Great pizza, reasonable prices for WH Center, they also have some sandwich platters which make for a pretty filling meal at a nice price point.
