If I ever find myself back in Cannon Beach needing some good beers, this is where I'll come.  According to my brother (beer connoisseur), the selection was surprisingly well edited, with many Oregon brews available.  What surprised me most were the prices.  Pints here are cheap - even for the good stuff.

I wish the food had been as reasonably priced, since I picked up the tab, but $10-15 per person for lunch isn't outrageous for a sit-down meal in a tourist town.  I got the Rotisserie Turkey Club and I thought it was delicious.  Turkey, bacon, sourdough bread, avocado, honey mustard - all sorts of deliciousness.  It was one of those meals where you are stuffed but want to keep eating because it tastes so good.  I wish I could get that sandwich again.  The fries were also really good - thin and extra crispy, like I like 'em.  My niece got the kids mac and cheese with a side of the homemade applesauce (also offered instead of fries).  I'm glad I didn't order it, but it was nice to try - definitely homemade but with some sort of sourness that I couldn't place.  Definitely not the super-sweet stuff you get out of a jar.

Others ordered the pork sliders and the halibut burger, and finished them off with no complaints.  I'm a bit surprised at some of the really negative reviews about the food.  Maybe we just ordered well, or maybe there was a change in the kitchen.  Regardless, I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before we went, since it might have turned us off to this place, and I would have missed out on my sandwich deliciousness.

The atmosphere isn't anything memorable, but it is very kid-friendly, at least during the day.  All the tables I saw from my vantage point had kids, though it wasn't loud.  Our server was appropriately attentive and took it in stride when the 4-year old had a meltdown.

When it comes to Cannon Beach restaurants, there are a handful of viable options, but none as holistically good as The Lumberyard. Perhaps it's competent management team at Martin Hospitality, the knowledgeable staff or quality ingredients, but The Lumberyard delivers.

I started out testing a few new beers from Fort George Brewery in Astoria. I highly recommend the tasty & potent IPA. I also tried a sample of the Blackberry Lemondrop, which is dangerously delicious. Forgoing happy hour, the family joined me for dinner. I had a flavorful burger and the ribs were a huge hit with the family. The servers were attentive, professional and friendly.

If this place were anywhere else, I would probably give it 2-3 stars.  But, in Cannon Beach, where the food options are surprisingly lacking, it gets 4.

The place has kind of a Chain restaurant feel to it, and it might just be in OR.  The food is decent, the place is clean, I have always had good service.  I guess I like it, not because it is amazing, but because it is predictable.

Yes the price is high, but you are in a tourist town, get used to getting gouged or cook at home.

Yes I did, I gave this place a 1 star.  Sadly, the only thing I enjoyed here aside from the fact that it had A/C which pointed at my feet while I stood next to the seat (I wonder if people just walk in with smelly feet after the walk through Ecola State Park) was the Beer and the fact that for a 25 oz stein of their IPA for $6.50.  Other than that, everything was crap.  The menu was very unattractive and the prices farrrrr beyond reason.

I would never in the right mind choose to eat here, but the fact that we arrived into Cannon Beach late just forced us into the situation we were presented, that is............eat here.

Surprisingly, we were a party of 5 and all we ordered were salads and soups with beers.....so cheap....so asian.   I bet the server had in her mind that we were a bunch of cheap asians.  But with a burger costing $13 in Oregon??  a side large salad for $9??, this has got to be the biggest rip off in the Oregon Coast.

For the 5 of us, we had the following:
-Grilled Chicken Burger with Cole Slaw and a side salad (for $3)
-Side of Tillamook Mac and Cheese - you have got to be kidding me if this is cosidered Mac and Cheese.  It's just mushy pasta, water, and a sprinkle of salt and dash of butter.  Where's the taste of cheese?  Where's the creaminess?  All these questions yet nothing can be done to replace my wasted time and stomach space for such a sad side dish bearing the name to such a great cheese making establishment (one that I had come from just prior to this visit)
-2 Bowls of Rotisserie Chicken Noodle Soup - the Bowl is just a way to make 1.5x the Cup sound bigger; and the noodle was mushy, and I'd like to get a test on that so called "Rotisserie Chicken"....exactly how much of that chicken is rotisseried?

The rest of my family had other salads too, but just seems that even for a backup place with low expectations (compared to our targeted Ecola Seafood Restaurant) it really came back surely less than our low expectations.

My honey and I tried this place out on our visit to Cannon Beach for dinner and the outcome of our experience was great! We ordered the hot wings and beer battered onion rings for appetizers and then decided on the pork loin chop for our main dish. I wasn't too impressed with the pork loin chop's presentation. It looked like someone just slapped the meat onto my plate and called it "done!". The meats' thickness was like 3 pork chops stacked all into one & it was a bit under-cooked.

I'm giving it a 4 star just because our appetizers were awesome and the service wasn't bad. The waiters were friendly and stayed very attentive throughout our dinner. I would definitely try this place out again with a different choice for my main dish though.

Great food, enjoyed it and had a great time.

We arrived during what seemed like peak hours, but we were seated immediately at the bar area, which consisted of the two of us at a high table with tall stools.

The server came right away and was pleasant and attentive.

We got a house salad to start out which was average to good. It had sunflower seeds on it which was a nice touch.

The entrees were excellent. My dad had the BBQ'd pork ribs which were amazing. He got a full rack and ate almost all of them. They were perfectly cooked and the ribs were meaty and tasty. The half order is still a lot of meat, he just enjoyed them so much he kept going on the other half.

I got salmon which was served on an alder plank with aioli sauce. The salmon was moist and flaky.

The vegetables were were green beans and carrots which were very good.

We both got strawberry lemonade and it was refreshing! There were pieces of strawberry in the bottom of the glass.

The prices were fair for the food. The plates were a bit over $20 each, but that's about par for a tourist town in the middle of the season. We felt like it was worth the money and the drive from Manzanita.

I was simply amazed at the quality of food, beverages and service. I had the BBQ ribs, and they were fantastic... feel right off the bone. The Blackberry Lemondrop was also delicious. The service was friendly and the live music was excellent. I highly recommend The Lumberyard to anyone, particularly families and those interested in a fab dining experience.

Nothing wrong with this place... they were able to seat our party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids) in a booth near a TV to catch the last game of the final four. Service was extremely attentive and the food was decent (although I thought the coleslaw JP had as his side was incredible).

Great selection of beer...I tried the Vortex which I really enjoyed.

Cornbread and onion rings were ordered for the table to share... I normally don't like onion rings but these were pretty tasty (BBQ and ranch were served as the sides).

Entrees ordered ranged from fish and chips, the 2x4 burger, pot pie, ribeye, cheese pizza, peanut butter and jelly (which was apparently too heavy on the jelly! ha) and a quesadilla. JP enjoyed the burger, but it was huge and he couldn't finish it. (which says a lot).   My potpie was okay... definitely more soupish than creamy (and could have used some more salt or seasoning), but it hit the spot after a long day of hiking. I substituted a salad for the applesauce so I can't comment on that.

Downside:  the kid's cheese pizza order didn't get placed with the rest of the entrees so it came out after everyone else had been served and was eating.

Prices were high on some items, but this is a tourist town after all. They have outdoor seating which would be great in warmer weather. All in all I would say not a bad place to end up with a group, especially if there are kids involved.

Great food & atmosphere.  We came here with a group of 22 and it was a pleasant experience for all.  Pork chop was not good though - I would advise against ordering it.  Dry inside and embarrasingly huge.

Our meal here was very good.  Our server was a little bit distracted, although it wasn't busy, and forgot about refilling our drinks once or twice.  That said, she took our orders and brought our meals out quickly, and was very friendly.  I had the seafood salad, which was surprisingly delicious, especially with the honey-Dijon vinaigrette and artichokes.  My only complaint is that, while there was abundant fresh crab, there were only 4 prawns in my salad.  :(  Everything else was good, though, and we'll definitely come back here the next time we're in Cannon Beach.

The food here was mediocre at best.  The service was ok, but the food was really terrible.  I ordered the Grilled Chicken Burger and it was absolutely flavorless with the exception of the pesto mayo.  The menu offered french fries, coleslaw or apple sauce as options for a side.  I decided to choose the apple sauce and that was quite possibly the most flavorful and tasty part of the entire meal.

J ordered the pot pie of the day (turkey) and it was more like cream of turkey soup with a piece of dough thrown over the top.  Nothing like a traditional pot pie that we both had in mind.  There aren't many options in the area, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.  Not only was the food "eh", their prices really aren't worth what you get in return.

Went off season so there was no wait for a table. Food was ok nothing spectacular. Seafood salad was pricey at 17 bucks! Burgers and sandwiches were a bit pricey as well but the portions are big! Fun atmosphere though! Kid friendly!

The Lumberyard lives up to its name, offering a variety of rotisserie and grilled selections. We ordered out from the Lumberyard while staying at the Ocrean Lodge (it was hard to leave our oceanfront room to eat out anywhere).

My Yard Rotisserie Prime Rib was cooked just right (medium rare) and had a nice spice rub. The mashed potatoes were nothing special (they rarely are anywhere), but the vegetables - carrots and green beans - had just the right seasoning and were cooked perfectly (al dente - still crisp and flavorful). The side salads were very good, too.

The other three members of the family skipped the specialty items and had hamburgers, which they also reported were quite good.

Although we didn't eat there, the ambience might be described as "clean and rustic" (lots of exposed wood in a very open space), the service for takeout was quite good, the wine selection looked OK (and reasonably priced), and the draft beer selection was excellent.

We went there after trying Cranky Sue's and finding out that with the restaurant half full, and no one else waiting it would still take over an hour to get seated.

So the lumberyard was our savior and friend.  We were seated right away by an attentive and friendly waitress (Kathleen I think).  They had a wide variety of seafood and other tavern fare.  We had plank-roasted halibut and salmon, and a seafood salad.  The kids had fish&chips.  Most of the food was good.  The halibut was delicious, the salmon was slightly overcooked, and the salad was decent.  The vegetables served with the fish were just right.  Overall, a good experience in a town where cuisine is pretty spotty.

Another blah chain restaurant that offers nothing special at high prices. I had a simple chicken breast sandwich that was very dry and too tough to cut. The decor is routine mall steak house wood that makes the restaurant loud even before the screaming children get started. There is no view and you could be in any suburb in the country here so I recommend moving along.

Good kid friendly environment.  Feels a little like a tourist trap, but the seafood is good, the deserts are great.  The kids enjoyed it, the wait was short and the peanuts were good.
