One of Lulu's Creperie Cafe's Favorite Reviews What's This?
What a cute place! After Yelping for a lunch place to take a half blind 88 year old great grandmother, I settled on Lulu's. It worked out really well! The staff was very friendly, the food was quite tasty, and great grandma had her very first crepe and was just raving about how wonderful it was and how she would have to take some of her friends there for lunch one day.
The prices were reasonable, sandwiches and crepes were all about $8-10. They came on these darling triangular plates, they have real tablecloths, and matching napkins. For a casual lunch, this place was perfect.

This is one of those reviews where I was WOWed by attitude and the reason I will come back. But I'll get to that later.
Lets start with the beginning. This is a very cute looking cafe. There is an outside patio where the majority of the tables are located, a handful of tables inside and also a couple of tables by the outside front entrance. The inside decor gives you a country feel. Or at least it did for me.
You are greeted by Lino (I believe the owner) I was given a choice of sitting inside or outside. I chose to sit inside. I looked over the menu but wasn't sure what I wanted and asked Lino for a recommendation. He gave a few and also asked if I like spicy, then the Cajun Crepe would be good. I gave my nod of approval for spicy. He also asked how spicy and I told him to bring on the heat.
A basket of bread and my ice tea were on my table shortly. The French bread was good. It wasn't fresh from the oven, but I could tell it was from a batch made that day. Also there was a mini muffin in that basket that was very moist and tasty.
My Cajun Crepe arrived. This crepe has shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken, onions, tomatoes and a Cajun sauce on top of it. ($10.95) The portion size of this crepe is on the small size and this was one of the higher priced crepes. Their savory crepes range from $7.95 - $11.95. This crepe was just okay. I wasn't into the Cajun sauce. The flavors didn't really do anything for me. It did have a little kick to it and the shrimps were a nice size though. 3 Stars for the Cajun Crepe.
After finishing the Cajun Crepe, I decided to give this place a shot with one of their sweet crepes. Since I'm a big fan of Dutch apple pie, I ordered the La Pomme Crepe ($7.95), which has caramelized apples & cinnamon with brown sugar, brandy & whipped cream. The apples were so warm and the brandy went so well with this dish. I polished this off pretty quickly. This dessert was 5 Stars.
As I was leaving, I mentioned to Lino that my dessert was fantastic. He then sensed that I wasn't thrilled with my Cajun Crepe. We then started talking about how they do things here, how other Crepe places do things and how traditional crepes are done in France. He pretty much told me I can have things done how ever I like because they are here to please me. I then told him, I will be back for sure because of this attitude and will try another savory crepe out. Attitude gets 5 Plus Stars.
So other than me not really liking the flavors of the Cajun sauce on my Cajun Crepe; all the other things about this place was good. My ice tea was always filled, the decor is nice, the sweet crepe was amazing and the attitude was what the book Raving Fans would call, "Expectation plus One"
So the attitude of giving the customer whatever they want is what will bring me back here again. I'm sure I'll find a savory crepe more to my liking on my next visit. I already have a winner here when it comes to a sweet crepe.

Yum! My guy and I rolled out of bed and wanted breakfast but all we had was a kitchen full of dirty dishes and a half a carton of eggs. Hm. So we ended up at Lulu's and we were pleasantly surprised. They brought us a basket of tiny little muffins of happiness. Both our crepes were delicious - well prepared and well seasoned.
The decor is like grandma's house, but it didn't bother me. They have a patio for outdoor dining that would be nice in the summer. I'm not sure if I would visit for anything other than breakfast or lunch - really seems like a daytime place to me. Service was prompt and friendly. This is definitely going into weekend rotation with Break of Dawn.

Wow,
Really disappointed by this place. Had dinner there last night and it was rough. It is restaurant week in Orange County and some of the local establishments are offering Pre Fix menus which we happened to take advantage of last night to the toon of $20.
Appetizer: Started well, the smoked salmon tomato and onion slices with capers were all delicious and fresh tasting, I was looking forward to the rest. (The lone reason they get a second star.)
Soup: Hmmm, swing and a miss. I had the butternut squash soup and it tasted as if they whipped the squash with cream, a hint of cloves and sugar. Extremely rich and at the same time bland. I don't mind the potential of a heart attack from a dish as long as I know I could die happy if it were the last thing I ate in the world. In this case, I would be haunted by my folly.
Main Dish: Crepes La Mer: The shrimps were delicious aaaaaand that's all. The scallops didn't taste fresh, the crepe was like a lead wait and the sauce tasted like cream mixed with flour and salt. Read above for how I feel about rich bland food. What the hell? I'm not sure what was worse, the bland flavor of the sauce or the chalky texture caused by too much flour.
Dessert: Apple Tart. Fair enough, Caramelized apples in a pie shell. I don't even know if I liked it. By the time I got to the dessert, it all felt like a chore.
Next time, I am sticking with the Creperie in Long Beach which has never disappointed me.
Fin!

The crepes are good, from savory to sweet. The salmon and mushroom crepes are perfect triangles of goodness and the dessert crepes are...well, absolutely delicious. I had the one with bailey's, and it hit my coffee love spot.
The decor reminds me of a grandmother's house, but I guess lulu could be an old grandmother's name. There was a live jazz singer, but late at night on a weekday we were one of a few couples in this small restaurant.

Went here for OC Restaurant Week to try out this place for the first time! We were feeling French this night.
THE GIST: This would have gotten a 3 star but the Rack of Lamb and Filet de Boeuf au Poivre made it a 4 star. Go for the Entrees!
RECOMMENDATIONS:
--RACK OF LAMB (cooked medium): Seriously the best lamb we have had in years, fresh, not too gamey, just enough spices, the haricot vert (sauteed vegetables) was sauteed to PERFECTION and greaty complimented the lamb. Home made mashed potatoes were delicious too. Highly highly recommend it for you lamb lovers.
--FILET DE BOEUF AU POIVRE: Beef with pepper sauce along with haricot vert and home made mashed potatoes. Beef was very soft and sauces were just right with the meat.
--SKIP THE STARTERS/APPETIZERS (and just go for the entrees): If anything, try the squash soup with some tobasco and dip the bagguette in for a great bread dip! Maybe it's just us not being used to French food, but the escargot was a bit "earthy" tasting and not enough seasoning, the french onion soup was bland, the smoked salmon you can get at any grocery store.
--ESPRESSO: This place knows how to make a mean espresso. Excellent flavor, no bitter after taste. Superb!
-- APPLE TART TATIN: Okay folks, if you like homemade apple tarts, you must try this! The apples were baked to perfection.
SERVICE: Owner was super nice, staff was a bit slow but they may not be used to the high volume of customers due to OCRW.
ENVIRONMENT: Outside seating is enjoyable! The back table next to the bathroom door inside is just a bit to close to the door for anyone who is seated there.

Goddam this place is amazing. I understand why you might think I'm an exaggerating reviewer...but if you had the corned beef had I'd had, you'd happily admit your confusion :) lol I hope that explains it.
I had corned beef and hash, some garlic fries, and a cappucino. Let me start with the cappucino....I'm a big coffee person, everywhere I go I love to stop for cappucino's, lattes, frappucinos, shit I joined businesses with my daily coffee shop! So when I say their cappucino's were phenomenally different from the rest, I mean it. They had a specially ordered froth and milk machine, which transformed the taste of the cappucino. It had a sense of harmony to it.
Fries: they weren't deep fried! That's hard to find these days...He literally took out a skillet, poured a bit of oil, and cooked those babies up. Now the sticklet were skinny...which I like to crunch on the most. yum
Corned beef hash...typing the words made me salivate...it's the shewolf of shakira. the best yet!
Oh yeah the design is probably the most adorable and detailed restaurant I think i've ever seen.

Had dinner at this hidden away cafe on 10/20/09 and was very pleasantly surprised. The decor was charming, the service very attentive and the food, delicious. Great down home cooking with a gourmet touch & quality ingredients. They also had entertainment on a Tuesday night. Very talented jazz vocalist that created a soft romantic atmosphere. I had the poached salmon and loved it. Can't wait to go back to try some of the other entrees & enjoy the entertainment. I thought the prices on the menu were in line with the quality of food & entertainment.
I never would've known Lulu's Creperie Cafe existed if it wasn't for OC restaurant week. Tucked away from sight off the main road in Laguna Hills is this cute little place with an amazing 4 course dinner deal for $20: http://www.orangecount...
We arrived at 5:45pm having come straight from work and it was fairly quiet. Only 3-4 tables occupied the whole time we were there. Lulu's is a small, quaint café filled with smiling faces. All the staff were so friendly and pleasant that we were instantly comfortable. We sat on the patio and ordered off the restaurant week menu.
We both had the smoke salmon appetizer which was served with sliced tomato and capers and purple onion. It was a fresh, light dish that went well with my sauvignon blanc and his Kronenbourg beer. Next I had French onion soup which was delicious! It wasn't salty at all and the broth, cheese and bread was really good. My husband had a rocket, feta, cranberry salad with balsamic dressing which he really enjoyed. We both ordered Crepe La Mer for our entrees and they were rich and decadent with a generous portion of seafood, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes. By this point I was ridiculously full but I didn't know the best was yet to come in the form of dessert. Banana Fosters Crepe! Usually I'm not a fan of dessert that doesn't include chocolate of some kind but this crepe was so freakin' good I could barely stand it. The bananas and sauce were so delicious. I could taste cinnamon and rum and caramel...it was so good I almost forgot to sample my husband's crème brulee. With a perfectly caramelized crispy top and a perfect consistency underneath it was really good. Both of us were bursting but unable to waste a single drop of these amazing desserts.
Service was very good. We were constantly checked up on, water refilled, drinks brought quickly and they kept offering more baguettes. At around 6:30pm a singer showed up and started singing which added even more to the charm of Lulu's. I'm so glad we discovered this gem and we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Dinner was fine.
We both had crepes. His was with seafood and mine was with sausage. While the food itself was fine, I think we let other factors shape our opinion.
Ambiance: Live violinist was a nice touch. There were speakers set up in the patio area, and the volume was such that it was not easy to hear each other. It could also be just us, since we were the youngest couple by far in there.
Management: The person we perceived as the owner/manager chatted with all the tables outside except for us. This might be because we didn't have our entrees yet, so perhaps he couldn't ask us about food. We did feel a little ignored, though.
Cleanliness: I didn't notice it until we got up to leave, but there was a tub of dirty dishes on the ground behind me. I mean, really? Could you at least draped a napkin over that or something?
Service: Cordial, but he thought there were moments of abruptness. I'm going to attribute it to the glass tabletops. When our drinks are placed in front of us they made a loud 'clank'. Awkward.
So those are my reasons. Maybe your experience will be better?

I really liked Lulu's. I loved their quaint and cozy decor along with the live violinist that played every Disney and Sound of Music song I know. The atmosphere was very lively and the wait staff was extremely attentive.
My friends and I came here for OC restaurant week and ordered the $20 4-course dinner (excellent deal). Here is what I ordered:
Appetizer:
Escargot
Soup:
Harvest Squash soup
Entree:
Breast of Duck a l'Orange
Dessert:
Brittany Crepe Suzette
It was actually my first time trying escargot, and I must say, I have definitely tasted worse. The escargot was drenched in a pesto and garlic sauce and it was pretty tasty. The escargot was extremely chewy, and after getting over the fact that I was eating a snail, I was able to enjoy it. The Harvest Squash Soup was ABSOLUTELY amazing! The BEST butternut squash soup I've EVER had. It was so rich and creamy and I wish I had the capacity in my stomach to finish it =-(. The Duck A l'Orange was decent; the portions were pretty generous too. I really liked the sauce but when it arrived at our table it had already noticeably cooled down (nothing worse than less than luke-warm meat). The duck was very soft (was able to cut through it like butter) but not as flavorful as I had hoped for. Lastly for dessert, the Crepe Suzette was amazing! Definitely the right choice. I loved the tanginess of the Grand Marnier orange liqueur and it was actually very surprising how well it went with a crepe.
I give Lulu's 4 stars for great service, the amazing violinist, and the new and exciting experience.

I loved Lulu's!! My friend and I ordered two savory crepes and one sweet one and couldn't eat the rest of the day!! I loved it all...from the decor and ambiance to the owners awesome frenchness! And the food was great! I am obsessed with crepes and love that I found a place in Orange County that serves up such a treat!!
Hey, it's a French restaurant in a strip mall in Laguna Hills. What did you expect, foie gras? Go back to Lyon, Jean-Pierre.
I got the seafood crepe and the sauce was creamy and rich, probably to my arteries' chagrin. The quality of the scallops and shrimp was pretty standard, nothing special. Co-worker got the Mission Crepe, said that it was bland. The other co-worker got an omelet and said that it wasn't that good.
This would maybe be a good choice for lunch about once a year, probably not more. Perhaps breakfast is better.
One note: an old lady was smoking on the enclosed patio which was oddly charming and pretty much the most French thing going on here.

It doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in a old strip mall just off the freeway. But they do a decent job of trying to decorate up the interior to resemble a French café.
However, the food is quite good. I had the Zorba crepe with spinach, tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta, and red onions with a light creme sauce. It was very good.
But it isn't a bargain by any stretch. The crepes are medium sized, but every one is $8 or higher. Some well over $10. Not horrible, but after spending $12 for a crepe and iced tea, I was still hungry. But I wasn't about to drop $20 for a simple lunch at a strip mall. It would be nice to have larger portions at this price.
They also have other items like sandwiches, omlettes, etc. all priced in the same vicinity... $8-10 and up per item. Most items on the menu are al a carte as well. So don't expect a lot of side items included. All I got with my lunch was 2 small slices of French bread.
But that being said, the food is good quality, and although I felt it was a little pricey for what you get, I've seen much worse.

Lulu came to greet us when entering the restaurant. The atmosphere is very French country style, same as the cafes in France.
The crepe served here are freshly made the French style, not like the typical dessert crepe available in this part of the world.
All our crepes tastes great - the ingridients are fresh and tasty. The complimentary muffin basket all tasted delicious! Coffee is fresh, smells refreshing, not burnt.
The live jazz pianist and singer adds life to ambiance and creates a very entertaining braunch experience.

portions too small for the price. my cajun crepe was just crepe with the meat sauce over. wasn't like a stuffed crepe. don't think i'll come back.
After reading reviews with this place, I thought this would be a great restaurant. I went there today with my husband, and although the staff was very nice, the food was absolutely awful! It was so bad that I asked for a to go box and said my husband wasn't feeling well and we threw away the meal in a trash can at our local coffee shop where we had to get the disgusting taste out of our mouth. I tried the La Galette and my husband tried the La Cajun. May be its because I don't like french food?? I would go to Mimi's Cafe (The Chain Restaurant) over this place any day.
5/15/2009: I am editing my review because the owners do care about their service and customer service, and they refunded my money. Although I don't think I would go back for Lunch or Dinner, I may go back and try their desserts.

I knew I was going to have a great meal the moment I stepped into the restaurant. The restaurant is small and homey and feels really comfortable. There was also a live singer singing throughout the night. My sister and I got the four course dinner for OC restaurant week (today was the last day and I have been wanting to go to Lulu's for a while). I got the smoked salmon appetizer, mixed salad, rack of lamb, and banana foster crepe for $20. I easily would have paid $40+ for this because the portions were generous and the service was amazing. I have had really good service from other restaurants but I haven't receive service like this. I think the owners served me and were so attentive, wondering if the food was okay, if I needed anything, if the lamb was tender. They were so genuine and I think it's rare to get that from restaurants these days. The food tasted like homemade food that your french grandmother would make for you, everything was good and simple and I left feeling very satisfied and happy. I only drawback is that I live half an hour away!

I went to this place JUST today and I had a great meal!
The cute little patio is the best place to eat.
Everything on the lunch menu was around $8-12
I've tried their omelettes and sweet crepes.
Both very delicious!
There is also a French lady who I think is the owner.
She is so sweet!
I would love to go back there again!
First of all- was that French woman LULU? Never the less I'm taking her home so she can answer my phones and play hostess in my time of need. She is adorable in her euro chic black & white zig-zag top, and that hair cut!
The prices were good, and the service was great. I don't think they charged me for my OJ. The fruit cup could use a little work though. And bumping into old high school friends from at least 7 yrs ago from back home- priceless!
It was an experience.
Good crepes, extremely filling, and very creative.
I had the salmon and cream cheese crepe - pretty much whatever you have on a bagel, was in a crepe. It was a delicious treat.
The owner is friendly and the place is charming.
Next time I hope I have room for dessert!

After reading awesome reviews on this place, my honey and I decided to forgo extra sleep on the weekend, wake up early and have breakfast here. We did not miss the extra couple of sleep after they brought us the basket of complimentary mini muffins.
We decided on a savory breakfast crepe (Parisienne w/ spinach, gruyere, and bacon in a white creamy sauce) and eggs benedict (one of our favorites). I totally wanted the brioche french toast, but decided we will save room to have a sweet crepe for dessert instead.
When the Parisienne arrived, I was so so excited. I couldn't wait to dig right in. I was a little bit concerned because it looked like the crepe was swimming in the white cream sauce. When I cut into the cheesy center, and took a bite, the combination of the gruyere, spinach and crunch of the bacon really made me smile. There was just a bit too much sauce...if the sauce were drizzled and then more served on the side, the texture of the crepe would have been better, I think.
The eggs bendict were perfect. The English muffin had great texture/ good bite to it. The canadian bacon was just salty enough and the eggs perfectly runny without being too wet. Better yet, I never like the potatoes/home fries that are served with breakfasts, but these potatoes, were beautifully crispy without the usual oil or grease. We were wondering how it was made and made so well!
By the time we finished our breakfasts we were so so so full that we had to skip the sweet crepe. We vowed to come back and try it tho.
The ambiance was good - it's such a cute little place. The service was also good.
NOT ONLY DO WE WANT TO COME BACK AND TRY OTHER BREAKFAST ITEMS, BUT ALSO WE CAN'T WAIT TO TRY OUT THEIR DINNER SPECIALS AS WELL AS THEIR FRENCH ONION SOUP!!!

mmm my friend took me here for brunch and it was better than i had expected.
We ordered a coffee, orange juice, eggs benedict, and an omlette. I want to say it was named something sante fe??
The service was good, but it wasn't that busy in the restaurant.
We were sitting outside next to a heater and we were fine. But another woman came outside and was not happy about sitting outside. So the waitress let her sit at the outside table until a table inside was ready. i thought that was above and beyond the call of duty LOL

Went there for restaurant week. I plan to go back again. The service was nice, and the chef/owner and the owner/hostess were very friendly and not snobby or stand offish. The quality of the food was a little bit uneven, (I think my rack of lamb wasn't evently cooked.) But overall, I liked it! I like the idea of supporting mom-and-pop shops.

My husband and I LOVE this place! He always gets the Eggs Benedict and I get the LA SICILIENNE Crepe (SO GOOD!). I've NEVER been a breakfast person, but Lulu's changed all of that! The fresh mini muffins that they always provide before the meal is so delicious and we always order a cup of coffee and fresh oj. Lulu is very sweet and so adorable! She's always greeting us with a enthusiastic hello and especially loves it when we bring our baby. Sometimes they have live music, which we really enjoy. Service is great and the food is always served quickly. Definitely our favorite breakfast place!

After volunteering on Sunday at A Snails Pace's Nike "Virtual" Women's Half Marathon on Sunday, my friend and I walked over to Lulu's for some breakfast. This place does some business on Sundays, and it seemed like most of the people were regulars. It was so busy in there!
My friend started off with a hot chocolate with real whipped cream, and then ordered the Huevos Rancheros. Normally this comes with eggs over medium, but she opted for scrambled instead. It also came with potatoes, which I tasted. They were delicious. She enjoyed her meal very much.
I had the Pain Perdue, which is French toast made from sliced baguette. I would have never thought to make French toast from this type of bread at home, but it was surprisingly very good! The baguette didn't absorb too much syrup the way softer bread does, so my breakfast didn't seem overly sweet. I also had a passion-fruit iced tea, which was good, but there wasn't enough ice in it, and I wasn't offered a refill.
Next time we want to some back to try the dessert crepes. Might be a good treat after an evening run with A Snails Pace Running Club!

I went here once for breakfast. Ordered a crepe with fruit. When it came, it was missing strawberries, even though the menu said it came with them. They were busy, and I saw 1 person running around serving the diners, and doing take out orders. The crepe was ok, better than some other crepe places..but far from the best. There was an odd taste to it as well. There was some good sauce on it but..
The place was DIRTY! My guest found stains, and some nasty stuff on her plate/silverware. I should check their report with the health department. I bet they have some marks against them.
She also didn't like her drink she ordered, and the server gave a little attitude when taking it back. We asked for the silverware to be replaced.

I've been meaning to try Lulu's for over a year now but whenever hubby has a day off it's always on Monday and Lulu's is closed on Mondays. It's been my list of to-try restaurants and I'm glad I finally got the chance to visit.
Located across the way from Jordan Market, this little place is really popular during lunch time. There is patio seating outside as well as inside.... no brainer there .... we're sitting INside since it's scorchingly hot out and I am in no mood to eat lunch while sweating up a storm.
The lady who served us (I'm guessing the owner) was very personable. Hubby noticed her accent and whispered to me "oh she's really French". HAHA.... yeah she's REALLY French!! We were seated quickly and our drinks order taken. Word of warning.... iced tea here is not freshly brewed but from those Nestea powders, so if you don't like that kind of iced tea, don't order it.
I'm not a fan of crepes so I was glad to see they had other options on the menu. Hubby got Lulu's quiche with fruit -- you can also opt for salad. French onion soup is a must in my book so I ordered that with half a sandwich -- I chose 'jambon' or ham!
While waiting for our food, I noticed how quaint and cozy the restaurant is. It's one of those places your mom, aunt or grandma would really enjoy. It's one of those places which makes you feel like you're dining in someone's house.
Our food arrived and I tasted hubby's quiche.... the ham and cheese were delicious enveloped around the eggy filling and the crust tasted homemade. I would order this if I was feeling like quiche but it wasn't what I was wanting.
My French onion soup arrived in a little pot and obviously straight out of the oven -- very very hot!! It looked awesome and I could smell the gruyere cheese a mile away. I took a taste of the broth and it was just delicious -- not salty! Impressive. I hate overly salty French onion soup. I mean why would you over salt onion soup when the toast on top of the bread is sprinkled with cheese -- which incidentally, um, is .... SALTY! -- so you're getting salt on salt. The balance of the saltiness of the cheesy toast with the flavors of the onion soup was perfect. Hubby even commented on how I actually ate the bread portion of the soup when I ordinarily leave it. Hey, it was good!!
My half a jambon sandwich arrived and guess what? It was actually jambon and not ham. What I mean is, the ham is very thinly shaved like how they serve it in France. They didn't make the sandwich with American slices of ham. On top of that the bread was nice and crusty, which in my book, is vital to a great sandwich.
Portions are European which means nothing ginormous. You don't need a massive portion to enjoy your meal. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and plan to come back again to try their dinner soon.
I'm just sorry it took me THIS long to try Lulu's out!

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try. It's a nice quaint place hidden in the back of a strip mall ... I didn't even know it was there, as I've been to the Wendy's, also in the strip mall, many times. They even have live music on certain days, like today.
The food was quite good in terms of flavor and quality ... the crepe's are a little small, but what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality ... so if you have a hearty appetite, I would recommend the omelette. The omelette's are for bigger eaters ... since the omelette's come with toast/muffin and potatoes or fruits. The sourdough bread was really good, taste fresh.
Price is very reasonable ... $8-$9 for crepes, and $10-$12 for the omelette ... most of the omlettes were $10, but I think the seafood omelette was $12.
The servers were very friendly ... and definitely a place I will go back to for a weekend brunch for a light meal with a relaxing ambiance.

Went here with a bunch of friends for a little get-together sunday brunch. The personal attention from the waiters/waitresses was excellent. Not a few minutes go by without someone asking if we were doing ok.
The omlets were good, but not great. The dessert crepes are very tasty.
When we left, we got thank yous from everyone who worked there. Talk about appreciation for the customers. Will defintely go back.

Food was good, and the service was generally good. The day we went, I guess they had decided to do some loud building work which kind of ruined the meal (couldn't wait until closing?). Another thing, there was a small putt off, my lunch date and I had put our order in, and then what I can only assume was the owners daughter comes to talk shop with him, and he put in an order in for both of them. They received their food very quickly before we had, it's no big deal, it just added to the oddness and un-enjoyment of the meal.
The food is good. And the service is pretty decent. The place was clean as were the utensils. I will go back again; hopefully it will be a more enjoyable experience next time.

My husband & I went to Lulu's for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The service is ok, kind of slow. My husband had the Rustico omelette & I had the eggs w/ bacon. The food was good, a perfect amount of food, nothing to rave about, but good. But it's always nice to try some place new.
Lulu's is like a family owned small restaurant, not too big.
I would prefer to give it 3.5 stars, but it's closer to a 3 star than a 4 star. This is a decent place for breakfast if you're nearby. There aren't a ton of options in the heart of suburbia.
First of all, this place is totally chick. No, not "chic"..."chick". There is a decidedly estrogen-induced ambiance here. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it's worth noting. Lulu's location in a strip mall was a bit of a disappointment, though.
I had a pretty stacked omelet, called La Normandie (sausage, bacon, green onions, bell peppers, cheese), the size of which surprised me. French food and good sized portions don't usually mix. Taste-wise, it really did taste like something from IHOP, though, so nothing outstanding.
Their crepes were delicious, however. The Wife, once again, bested my order when she went with the La Galette crepes (ham, mushroom, spinach, topped w/ poached eggs). Definitely NOT something that you could order at IHOP.
Overall, above average place for breakfast, but holds limited appeal for me due to the ambiance and location. Do give it a try, if you're in the area, but go w/ a crepe for breakfast.

An excellent creperie in Orange County, who would have thought. I came across this restaurant by accident one day and now I try to go there at least once a month.

Yelp came through again!
Food wise Lulu did not disappoint. We had some very nice dishes here recently.
Pate Platter: Rich, delicious, wonderful.
Crepe La Fracaise: Mrs claimed that it was very good.
BBC sandwich. Bacon, brie, chicken. Very nice combination of flavor. it worked. Period.
Service was a bit lacking. It was like pulling teeth to get my water refilled. It was not busy at all, just lack of attention.
Will return soon to give it another chance. Great food, slow service.
best potatoe salad I have ever had in my life. Awesome pastries I am one picky eater but we all remember the potatoe salad here!
This place is so cute! I love it! Went here with a friend and it was the first time for both of us. It's a cute cafe in a shopping center right off the freeway. They even have a nice outdoor patio which is where we sat.
Each entree comes with a starter salad with a house vinaigrette, which was very tasty. I ordered the La Mer crepe as my main dish which had scallops, shrimp, shallots, tomatoes, and mushrooms with a light cream sauce. I forgot what my friend ordered [it was some meat dish, not a crepe] - but I tried the potatoes and the vegetables on his plate and they were good. What a bummer though, since we didn't try a desert crepe since we were so full! I would definitely come back here and try breakfast along with a desert crepe.
I didn't give it five stars since the service was a bit slow and they weren't a lot of people in the restaurant.

This is going to be my new breakfast spot for those rare times I decide to come back home... I'm sure grabbing $20 pancakes at the Ritz or $30 Crabcakes at the St. Regis is great, but I'm looking for some good food at decent fare, and this place totally fits the rubric. It's charming without being pretentious, and most importantly of all, delicious.
We went for Sunday brunch and it was PACKED. I definitely wasn't expecting a 25 minute wait for this small inconspicuous restaurant. To make things worse, it took our food a long time to come out.... so long, in fact, that I should dock them a star on this account. However, the owner came by and apologies were abound; she passed out a wide variety of pastries to sooth our appetites while we waited. It was a nice gesture and it definitely made up for the long wait.
The food was wonderful. I got my usual Benedict. The homemade Hollandaise sauce was amongst the best I've ever had and all my friends loved their crepes. My only complaint: the egg was over-easy instead of poached.
Most importantly: It's all about that patio. It makes you forget that you're in a suburban wasteland of strip malls and SUVs...Anything that makes me forget that I'm stuck in South County is a place worth visiting.

I found this place because I love me the French food.
Gotta say, I was a little disappointed - I tried the bacon, chicken, and brie sandwich and the croque madame. It's never a good sign when the best part of your meal is the garlic french fries, although I will say that the fries are GREAT. The idea of bacon, chicken, and brie on a croissant sounded great, but there was too much cheese, they didn't cut the wax off the ends, and the chicken was dried out. Made properly, I think this would have been better.
The croque madame was also just ok. The croque madame is my favorite sandwich, and I pretty much will judge a french restaurant on the quality of this sandwich. I've never had a croque madame with the egg on the inside of the sandwich, it's supposed to be served on the top, covering the entire sandwich. The best description is that this sandwich IS forgettable.
I am going to give this place another try, for their crepes and dinner dishes, and will bump up the rating accordingly if they deserve it.

UPDATE: So after posting this review around 2am (I'm a night owl, sue me), I received a reply from the owner first thing in the morning. She apologized to me for my visit not being up to par and offered me a replacement meal.
THAT is what I call customer service. Another reason why I prefer hole-in-the-wall restaurants where you actually meet the owner, instead of a place like El Torito or Chili's...
I will definitely take them up on their offer and give this place another try! Update coming...
Not bad. I've not eaten too many crepes before so I don't know how they compare. But generally, the crepes themselves were done well, soft and flavorful. The sauce they used was also done well, not too heavy.
The only complaint I have is that they just use too much sauce. As you can see from pictures posted by other people, the soft folded crepe is drowned in sauce. I'd prefer less sauce. There was enough topping (mushroom and chicken, etc) to go with the crepe, but just too much sauce. Specificially, I order the LA FRANAISE $7/$12 (Choice of ham or chicken, sun-dried tomatoes. portabello mushrooms & gruyere cheese in a bchamel sauce). I had friends who similarly ordered savory crepes and those were similarly drowned in a cream based sauce.
I also tried the banana crepe. I think it could have been done better. Maybe it's the style, but I would have preferred the sauce to be a little more caramelized to give it a rounder taste. As it was, it was a bit of a dull sweetness and didn't blend together enough with the banana taste.
Not bad, but I'd like to try and compare to other frech creperies to compare. Since it's close to work, I'd go back to try some of their other dishes.
Decor and atmosphere fun and cute. The service was friendly, but I did notice it lagged a bit once the lunch rush hit. It took us forever to order the banana crepe and forever again to get the bill. Sitting on the patio is really nice. I saw Don Johnson there... i think. At least it was someone that looked and sounded like him.
