The Lobster Schooner is the best meal I had the week of November 23rd, 2009.

For just $16 you can enjoy a toasted and lighter-than-air roll topped with butter, mayo and seasoning...and of course the freshest, finest lobster in the city...plus a Maine soda and bag of chips. The special seasoning "Ben's Secret Spices" is as close to crack as I will ever come. I'm hooked. If only the $16 bought you a seat in the 7 or 8 stool "dining" area. Be prepared to grab-and-go if there aren't seats available.

I love Luke's Lobster rolls! Definitely a steal given how much fresh quality lobster costs.

Delicious toasted buttery hot dog bun with loads of the freshest Maine lobster w/ just a touch of mayo. I like to sprinkle lots and lots of extra "Ben's Secret Spices" on my roll. (I swear they put a crack-like substance in this spice! It's located on the counter.)

Very small space w/ very little seating, so be prepared to stand. They accept credit card. Also they have Pumpkin Pie soda! Yum!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I ordered the seafood schooner that came with a lobster roll, Miss Vicki's Jalapeno chips and a mandarin orange soda. The lobster roll was perfection! The bun was toasted lightly with butter and the chunks of lobster tasted extremely fresh. The mayo and the seasoning were light enough to compliment the lobster instead of overpowering it. Thinking about that lobster roll is making me drool!   I would recommend Luke's to everyone!

The only drawback is the seating. There is only around 8 bar stools or so inside the establishment so if you see an open one, you better sit down before the others do!

Dude, Luke...you are not my lobster. We are not a good match. We will not mate for life. I refuse to fork over 5 dollars for something that is the size of one chickily nugget. That is why G. paid for me. She witnessed my anger and wrath and was so overwhelmed that she put her tip in the Business card jar. Yeah, I'm pretty scary. In math terms, if you put 10 crab rolls together, you would get a full crab. That amounts to 50 dollars. You can use that to buy 1 1/2 lobsters or a jacket on sale at H&M. Fashion is food too. Well, according to Devil Wears Prada. I'm going to ruin the ending for you- Meryl Streep smiles.

If you've had a lobster roll before in New England, think "Man! It's been a while since I had one."  and sorta think you're in the mood for one... then this is the place to go.

Never had a lobster roll before? Think of it as tuna salad except lobster meat comes in chunks, not shredded bits. They don't skimp on the lobster meat either. I had a few sizable chunks and the whole claw meat.

You've got the standard hot dog bun sized roll and the half a roll.
Choice of Shrimp, Crab or Lobster meat
Or go with all three!

I think it's kinda cool they call the two of each, "Noah's Ark"
Definitely worth a trip if you're curious

Now, that's what I'm talking about!

After my recent disenchantment with the lobster roll I received at The Mermaid Inn, I thought that perhaps they just weren't for me. (My sandwich had been less of a lobster roll, and more of a mayonaise sandwich with lobster.)

Now I see that's not true at all. Luke's showed me!

My lobster roll came on a lightly toasted and buttered roll.
It came quite full of delicious lobster claw meat.
I didn't taste or see any mayo on it whatsoever.
If it was there, it was in a near nonexistent amount.
Just the way I think it should be!

None of the flavors were covered up with seasonings or sauces.
For purists, it doesn't get better.

Of course, if you wanted mayo, butter, lemon, etc. they'd be more than happy to oblige!

As I was just passing by, I only got the small $8 roll.
But, I saw the regular sized one and think that was only $14, it's quite a steal.

Delicious!

WOW.

I would consider myself a lobster roll conoisseur.  I have eaten the sandwiches up and down the New England coast from Maine to the ends of the cape.  This place nailed it.

They have slightly modified the traditional recipe- this one is simple, hot dog bun- very little mayo- if any at all, little bit of olive oil/salt and pepper and lemon.  Its right on.

And to better the deal- they just applied for a liquor license and the meal with chips and a drink is only $16!  It's the sweet life.
Check out Luke's!

Hype does wonders to ones expectations and Luke's Lobster has been very hyped by the Yelp community.  I went with great expectations that are almost unattainable.  I have semi-mixed feelings about the overall experience and am still debating whether this is a 3 or a 4 star review.

First off, if you've been to Maine, you know how a lobster roll should look and taste.  Luke's fell a bit short here.  While the quality of the lobster is on par, I didn't feel I got the full lobster roll experience.  The lobster roll is miniscule compared to that of Maine.  I wasn't expecting a double whopper, but still, I didn't think I was going to get a junior cheeseburger.  Maybe that wasn't the best analogy, but I was pretty disappointed by the size of the roll.

Yeah, the meat is fresh and tasted good, but I didn't get the best part of the lobster.  All the meat came from the claw.  I didn't get any meat from the tail.  Is that too much to ask?  With the price of lobster declining steadily, I would think they'll give a bit more for the 16 bux I coughed up.  In fact, my friend got one as well, and hers was all claw, and no tail.  Wtf?

Still, I enjoyed the overall meal.  The pumpkin pie soda was great.  Wow, pumpkin soda.  What a genius idea.  Anything pumpkin is great, and this went really well with the roll.  If you're in the mood for a light snack, Luke's will do the trick.  If you're hungry, I would go else where, unless you want to drop 40 bux to get the full course meal.  Wow, I can't imagine myself spending so much here.  Don't you just hate expectations?  It's like all the Harry Potter movies.  So much hype and after watching the movie, you wished you stayed home and read the book instead.  Ok, so this should be a 3.5 star review, but since I can't give half a star, I'm slightly downgrading it to 3.  Expectation blows, so suck it up.

Loved it. got the Noah's ark to split with my date. Yes the rolls are small and you feel like you could eat more but at the end of the meal, I felt full.

I have to say out of the crab, shrimp and lobster roll, I probably liked the shrimp roll the best for the seasoning but all three were really good. They were generously stuffed, fresh and even the buns were toasted just right. I felt I did not need to use the cocktail sauce that came with it but used melted better for the empress claws and lobster roll.

skip the pumpkin pie soda. It's okay but root beer's the way to go. If you're really still hungry, go get a butterlane cupcake for dessert; it's only a few stores down on 123 7th.

Like many of you, that damn picture of what looks like the morbidly obese lobster roll of my dreams has been taunting me for weeks. I finally went to Luke's a few nights ago, and while the roll didn't weigh the five pounds I was hoping for, what I had was pretty good.

I got the "schooner" meal, which is a roll (lobster, crab, or shrimp), chips, and a drink. We tried the crab ($11) and the lobster ($16), and both were piled high with really fresh, quality seafood. Would I prefer them to be bigger? Sure - like most delicious things, more is definitely more . . . but I wasn't shocked or disappointed by the size.

The quality of the seafood and the customer service is really what knocks these guys up to four stars, because I feel it's missing *something*. Maybe sides? Or desserts? And even though I am still really mad at Maine for being SUCH a d-bag last week, I think I'd probably go back.

The "local" sodas are cool, too - Pumpkin Pie soda?? What kind of fat monster came up with that idea?? I must meet him.

First bite of my lobster roll was ecstasy. I'm pretty sure there was some crack in there.

Had to try this spot since lobster is my favorite food. Didn't feel like thinking so i just got the Noah's Ark which includes 1 crab roll, 1 shrimp roll, 1 lobster roll, chips, and soda for two people. i got the lemon lime, my friend got the orange mandarin. both were real good. wasn't too crazy for the crab or shrimp roll so i know next time to just get the lobster. they also have a sign that says you can request extra lemon, butter, and cocktail sauce.

I don't penalize them for not having tables. I just picked up the food and we ate it in the car which we parked right across the street. One of the best meals i've had in a while...

CONS: pricey. i mean lobster IS supposed to be pricey but for the $42 i spent, it was like 2 kids meals

Generously-stuffed but bland.

The 'small' rolls are simply regular-sized rolls, cut in half, which is a great option to have if you are looking to try a few types of roll.

I tried the crab and the lobster rolls.  The lobster roll was the better-tasting of the two as its sweet flavor was more apparent. However, both seafoods were rather bland.  The crab and lobster rolls were both served up very plain - no dressing nor fillers, which is fantastic in concept.  But unfortunately, I felt that the seafoods (although certainly not 'unfresh') weren't sparklingly fresh enough to warrant zero dressing.

I may come back again for a second shot, but it's not high up on my list for the moment.

Lobster is expensive!

I split the lobster roll, snack size, with my friend and it was literally two bites! It was $8! But it was still amazing.

I probably wouldn't go back just because it's so expensive and a sistah is broke, but I would definitely suggest going and trying it out for yourself!

Enticed by the relentless Twitter posts about the new chowders at Luke's, I took myself over there the other night for a quick dinner.  Much to my dismay, the haddock chowder was being heated and wouldn't be ready for about twenty minutes.  I settled for the corn-- which ordinarily I love, but I had my heart set on that haddock....That  being said, the chowder was good.  Worth $5.50 for a small? No way.

I washed it down with a pumpkin pie soda.  It did, indeed, taste like pumpkin pie.  Which was delicious for about  half the bottle....and then I wasn't even sure what I was drinking.  (Actually, it might do well with a little booze in it.)

I won't deny that being in there made me crave another lobster roll; maybe when I'm in the money.

Decent. This review will be disjointed.
The food was fresh and it seems like they at least know how to prepare everything. Ask for extra mayo on your lobster roll, or it will seem like there is no mayo on/in it. I know lobster's expensive, too, but you can get a good lobster in New York, the whole thing, for $20. A lobster roll should not be $14. But people are willing to pay that, I guess - the place was packed.

The lobster roll seemed a bit small. It seemed mad small. The only other ones I've had were in Rhode Island though, so maybe I'm expecting too much. I have to give Luke's credit for the menu; they really have a lot going on shellfishwise. It's actually a brilliant idea to open this place, and I am not sure that they have any, like, any, competitors. The chick behind the counter said they are probably going to start delivering soon.

But the staff were basically the blind leading the blind. What are the chances that three sixth-year Hospitality Studies majors from the University of Vermont would be working at the same joint, on the same night?

I may or may not come back to this place. It's five blocks from my house... still undecided on whether that's too far to walk for what I got.

I am addicted to the lobster roll at Luke's Lobster. In the first week that it was opened, I visited an embarrassing three times to chow down.

I've tried almost everything on the menu -- the lobster roll, the crab roll, the shrimp roll, the Empress crab claws. Everything was delicious and seasoned to perfection. I recommend the lobster the most; however, the shrimp roll is very tasty and filling.

The place is very tiny, so don't expect to enjoy a comfortable, sit-down meal. It's best to think of Luke's Lobster as the seafood equivalent of Shake Shack --  the Seafood Shack. Sometimes there's a line at Luke's Lobster as long as the one at Shake Shack. Other times, there is no wait to get your seafood on. And like Shake Shack with its burgers, Luke's Lobster is not haute cuisine: it's seafood done simply.

Luke's Lobster has a customer loyalty card. Buy 10 lobster rolls and get the 11th free.

Minus 1 star because they were out of chowder at around 7pm.  I did appreciate the simplicity of the menu.  They specialize in seafood and they do it right!

My bf and I split the Taste of Maine for $20.  It's a great way to sample everything.  Although the portions looked small, we actually felt full after standing up to walk away.  My bf hates mayo, so it was good they allow that to be omitted.  Most places have it premixed in.

The tarter sauce was tasty to dip the Empress claws in.  Didn't feel like the shrimp or crab rolls needed any extra seasoning; they were already flavorful.  I also used the tarter sauce with the lobster rolls.  Opted for the root bear flavor of the Maine Root drink, figuring I couldn't go wrong with that and it was a winner!  I appreciate a good 'ole root beer.

On the pricey-side, but they were pretty generous with their amounts of seafood and everything tasted fresh and delicious!

I left here my first time in fist-pumping glory as I leapt and bound (tripped) back to the 6 train to head home, finishing my Maine blueberry soda along the 1/2 mile jaunt to Astor Place. I continuously licked my fingers, just hoping to get one last savory taste of the Maine meaty goodness that was the "A Taste of Maine" platter, which I had just recently decimated.

Hands down the best $20 I ever spent in Manhattan...on food. The girls at the counter were cute, too.

After reading so many great reviews, I can't help but stopping by for a mini roll before my ramen dinner.

Luke's didn't disappoint me. I shared my roll with my bf and another friend and all three of us were extremely impressed and we all wanted to get a whole one at that moment. The lobster was chunky, fresh, and delightful. It was not overpowered by mayo or any other seasoning.

I wish the roll was a little bigger!

It's hard for me to say "No" to seafood, so when we came upon Lukes after scarfing down arepas from Caracas next door, my stomach forced me to try some.

As I was followed my buddha belly towards the counter, I passed by other people stuffing their faces with shellfish on buttered bread. My mouth watered, and my tummy said "Yes please!"

The concept is simple. Fresh, cold seafood on a small, toasted buttered roll. This lobster shack is clean shack - but can only accomodate about 8 seated and maybe 4 standing along their countertops. The place is well decorated with Maine-lovin', seafood-related stuff...except for their fish tank, which has absolutely nothing in it (boo).

On our lil food tour of the East Village that night, we decided on the Taste of Maine (2 Empress Claws, half sized rolls of lobster/shrimp/crab, chips and Maine Root soda.) It was the perfect sampler plate.

-Empress claws: cold and meaty
-Lobster Roll: delicious w/ extra butter
-Shrimp Roll: I thought a little bland - def needed "Ben's secret spice" and an extra dose of the cocktail sauce
-Crab Roll: Nice & meaty, but again a little bland.
-Soda: the Pumpkin Pie is SO GOOD!!

I can't wait to taste their chowder and bisques, as their menu is expanding.

They say that "Butter, Mayo and Spices are optional!"
But I recommend at least 1 of the 3 to get your tongue a-waggin. Ben's Secret Spice is flavorful, but a little too salty. It'd be better to have it mixed in instead of just shakin on top.

So yes, you can go "au natural" with these puppies, but it may be a bit too bland. But this is coming from a firm believer that butter makes everything better.

This may also be why I might have a heart attack sooner than later...

Tucked beside the ever-packed Caracas arepa bar on East 7th, Luke's is exceptionally convenient for me.  I avoid the stools and narrow counters by just picking up my order and walking it home across the park.  As it happens, the order does not have to include a lobster roll, although Luke's roll inevitably provokes controversy.  People are suspicious of a bargain.

Perhaps the roll is not as big as what you might call the New York  standard lobster roll, as served by Pearl and Ed's and Ditch Plains as well as the now closed Tides and Black Pearl.  There is less bun, less filler (celery, tarragon, mayo, whatever), and possibly less lobster.  Possibly.  But the fact remains that it's half the price of those other rolls, but certainly much more than half the size.

Since the lobster - knuckle meat only - is good enough, what could be the problem?  Well, the complaints come thick and fast.  It could be a little bit bigger, there's not enough bread for the lobster, there's not enough mayo, the lobster meat is too cold, and so on.  For myself, I can rise aloof from such petty concerns.  By the time I have walked my roll home, the meat is no longer chilled.  I can add - and have - mayo, seasoning, even hot sauce to taste.  I am fine with the bun - it holds the lobster, that's its job.

But if you still have a problem, just forget the lobster, because I think the crab and shrimp rolls are terrific.  A roll bursting with juicy shrimp costs $7.  The crab roll, fresh and rich, $9.  That's $15 the pair, and it's a fine supper.  With or without a packet of Miss Vickie's Kettle Chips.

A well kept secret, for the most part, is that crab is often tastier than lobster.  This roll underscores that point and it needs to be touted - ahead of certain smashed, overcooked burgers - as one of the best new sandwiches in town.

Heard so many good things about this place that I actually planned to go with a friend of mine this past weekend. I must say that it wasn't what I expected.

I had the lobster roll which looked exactly like the pictures minus the distortion in size. The sandwhich was the size of a hot dog. Dont get me wrong, the lobster chucks weren't skimpy or shredded. The seasoning was just enough. The sandwhich was delicious...but for the amount of money I was paying, i expected to get something alot more filling. My friend and I got a roll each with chips and a soda and it came up to $25 bucks.

This is definitely a snack stop. I would go again to introduce someone else for the 1st time but may not go for myself unless its your treat. lol. Just being honest.

This is spot on and simple.  Get the "taste of maine" and you get to try little rolls of shrimp, lobster AND crab individually.  And trust me they will fill you!  They are not shy about filling and stuffing your roll, so don't get it twisted!  It's simply, pepper, salt, maybe hardly a pinch of mayo, we're just talking seafood goodness.  The lobster pieces are perfect, not too huge and not shredded.

Listen!  Escuchame!  Ismah!

Try it, love it, repeat.

Being a westcoast native and a NY transplant, we are not used to this type of lobster roll.

It is straight purist style which I love.. Great meat portions. Lightly seasoned, little mayo.  Perfect.   I was a little disappointed in the bread since it is literally one slice of buttered white bread  but whatever, it was all about the meat.  I had the Lobster roll and my girl had the crab roll, both schooner style (aka pickle, chips and drink).  Tab was $29 and some change.   I knew it was a very light meal goin in so, I ate mine very slow, stealing a couple bites of my girl's crab roll to trick myself into a feeling of rationalized satisfaction.

I had the blueberry soda with it so that just about made my day.

Definitely worth a try and I will be stopping in from time to time since I'm a purist, arrogant, hypercritical foodie and places like this don't come by too often.   You get what you pay for and I feel like its worth it, even more so if it were $2 less for either of the rolls.

On a side note, I don't understand how some of you cheap shits go into this joint and only order the half roll @ $8.  What are u a child? lmao, the full roll is more like a snack so a half roll has got to be the biggest tease this side of NY.

Also, note to the owner or staff if you ever get to reading this. I'd suggest just a half pinch more of seasoning and a sliver of fresh lemon to go with the roll which I think would enhance the flavor to perfection.

I'll def go to Luke's Lobster if I have a craving and can't convince my dad that we should go to Jordan's Lobster Farm on LI and grill some for dinner (its amazing...).  It lives up to the hype, but I guess I wasn't as enthralled with the lobster roll as I thought I would be.  It was good, and worth every penny, but not amaaaaazing.

Word of advice.  Read the menu before you order.  My friend messed up her ordering and just got the roll and a water, which was $16, where, for a dollar more she would have gotten a pickle and chips (the schooner).  So think before you order.  The "large" roll is just a regular hot dog bun size and the "small" is half of that.

I'm not exactly sure what was missing from the meal I had here recently...

They prepare the rolls in what is, I guess the traditional way in Maine: lightly-dressed meat, simple hot dog bun lightly toasted, half a pickle, a bag of chips (these, plus a drink, cost $2.00 extra).

How much are you willing to pay for a light snack? Because that's what this is: a -- very -- light snack. $11.00? $14.00? You'll be finished with one of the large rolls in about five bites.

It seems insubstantial not just because the serving size is small. The sandwich tasted so plain that it was almost like it wasn't even really a recipe. Just a bunch of (admittedly good) crab in a basic bun.

For those of you who like NO seasoning, you're in luck: I could discern no salt, pepper, mayo, celery, onions, or anything, really, in my roll.

What if they used a really good roll, added some spices and seasonings and some greens on top? It wouldn't be the purists' old familiar lobster or crab roll, but I think it would be a lot better...and might bring me back in.

As another reviewer mentioned, the presentation is pretty lacking. As a matter of fact, it's pretty depressing. My poor order was just rattling around a to-go box, wrapped in no-frills aluminum foil with paper plates. That's fine, that's perfect at the beach but doing the same thing in a walk in restaurant in a city kind of honestly bums me out.

I need prettiness in my life!! I need some beauty!! We need bread, but we need roses, too.

When I stopped by, they didn't yet have the lobster bisque, but I want to try that when it's ready. It might just be the best thing on the menu, with fall/winter approaching.

Hands down one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had, and I'm from New England.  The meat is so thick and chunky and drenched in butter.  The bread is lightly toasted so it holds up well with the soaked lobster meat.  The large lobster roll is on the pricey side, but it was well worth it for a first time experience.  I definitely want to head back to check out their shrimp and crab rolls next.

The latest buzz is for a tiny new eatery in East Village offering lobster rolls on the cheap.  Opinions vary considerably, but I'll weigh in.  These are the real McCoy!  Those who were disappointed seem unfamiliar with what a lobster roll is.  For example, I never seen so much disdain for a hotdog bun, even though that is a traditional component of a lobster roll.

What to expect:  a broom closet with a counter, a cash register, and a very limited menu.  Just go with the obvious, $16 for the lobster schooner which includes a 4 oz. lobster roll, a bag of Miss Vickie's chips, and a bottle of Maine Root soda.  Anything smaller than that will leave you unsatisfied.

The lobster is large in size, very fresh (delivered directly from Maine), and flavorful.  The lobster meat is lightly adorned with mayonnaise and Old Bay seasoning.  Just barely enough to realize it is there, but enough to enhance the taste and make it addictive.  I really wanted to savor each bite.  I have traveled along the coast of Maine and have had real lobster rolls in the past, and this is consistent in quality and presentation with what I have had there.  So it is wonderful that I can have such great regional food without having to travel for it.  Definitely recommend!  And if price is a concern, consider the fact that lobster is being sold at record low prices right now; it's actually a concern for the industry.  It is indeed a bargain, and it is better than anything I ever had at Mary's, but that's another review.

Noah's Ark for 2 people.
Sampling of the Lobster, Crab, and Shrimp, with Empress Claws, chips, and flavored soda all for $38.
It was good esp the bread they use bc its kinda like Texas Toast.
I guess what threw me off a little is that all the meat is cold but liked the fact that they dont use alot of mayo.  The rolls are half of what the regular sized ones are.
I liked the blueberry soda and the pumpkin one grew on me.

I was all set to write one of my goofy, musical and delightfully corny reviews, but I wouldn't dare disrespect Luke's with a mediocre review.
This place is tiny as heck and the decor was kitschy, but what it lacks in space and interior design it surely makes up in tasty rolls of the seafood persuasion. I decided on a small snack sized lobster roll, a decision I soon regretted once I took a bite. Lightly seasoned, a more than generous amount of lobster meat, no nasty mayonnaise and reasonably priced. I'm convinced these rolls are made by cherubs that smell like Love's Baby Soft and sing ocean-themed songs as they prepare these rolls.....okay that might be far-fetched, however my new found love for Luke's Lobster isn't.

They're good but I don't quite get the fuss.

The lobster rolls are cheaper than many places, and not overdone with mayo, etc. I liked that the lobster was very chilled, and it was nice and classic like they make them on the north shore of boston  on a toasted hot dog bun.

The seasoned salt was a little over-sprinkled on mine. I was still quite hungry after eating it.. They could come with at least something on the side (that you're not paying extra for).

Oh, and where's the beer?

Luke's keeps things simple from the rolls to the restaurant set up. The place is small with only counter & stool seating so be prepared to take out in case you can't get a spot.

The rolls have a clean flavor with just a smear of mayo on the roll. They let the seafood speak for itself with just a sprinkle of seasoning (pepper and celery salt?). The lobster is tender, chunky and fresh. The crab roll tastes fresh as well, but not as good as the lobster in texture.

Oh, and let's not forget the roll. They're some kind of hot dog bun, but not the boring white ones. These have a little sweetness, and are toasted with a bit of butter that just makes the roll even better.

In comparison to other places with solid lobster rolls, Luke's is a good deal. It's lobster after all, not a hot dog.

The fifth star is because Luke's gives back to the industry from which these tasty rolls come from by donating to the Maine Lobsterman's Association. http://www.lukeslobste...

Indeed it was the lobster roll as it should be: Good meat lightly seasoned in a warm toasted bun. No extra mayo, no extra salt, no extra anything...

But it was rather pricey for what you get. I think itw as cute that they had a sign that said: From ME to you! hahaha.... but still it shouldn't cost that much for a light snack.  I guess, sometimes you just have to treat yourself :) A trip to maine would cost more in gas.

East 7th St in the East Village is quickly becoming my happy place. A block away from Blue & Gold and sandwiched between Caracas and Caracas To-Go is Luke's Lobster. A tiny place, more of a lobster stand than a restaurant, is yet another excellent choice in this area. It's great for a quick bite or an order to go, it's not somewhere you would "dine" for an extend period.

The lobster roll ($14) was excellent. It's served on toasted and lightly buttered bun, without mayo and minimal to no seasoning. What you get is pure lobster as opposed to lobster salad. I'm not a big fan of mayo so this was perfect for me. The lobster meat was delicious, it needed no additional seasoning and didn't have that rubbery frozen taste. One was satisfying, but I'm greedy, I could have eaten a second one.

Considering I paid close to double this at Mermaid Inn and wasn't thrilled, I'm definitely a fan of Luke's Lobster.

Although Luke's is a little far from my office and not even my borough the trek there, getting lost and sitting in close quarters was so worth the lobster sandwich and for only $2 more you get authentic Maine soda, pickle and chips! The schooner.

This was my first time eating a lobster sandwich and it did NOT disappoint. It was all about the lobster. Fast, fresh and not over sauced or spiced. The buttered and toasted bread was a perfect accompaniment. It doesn't need anything extra! At all! I could taste the meat. It was not doused with mayo. As I heard these sandwiches can be.

I was quite happy that my dollar went into getting a lobster and not a horse and pony show. It's about the food people. Come on. And I was satisfied. Have we become a nation of such overeaters that we are not full with a generous portion of lobster?

Plus the service was excellent.

Actually -- I really, genuinely don't know what all the Hate is about... And, actually, I seriously, honestly don't know what all the Hype is about...

I got a large Lobster Roll, a large Shrimp Roll, a large Crab Roll, some Miss Vickie's Chips, and a root drink... My friend had a large Lobster Roll, a large Shrimp Roll, a large Crab Roll, some Miss Vickie's Chips, and a root drink.. And we shared 4 empress crab claws.

It was a special occasion, an early birthday (present?) dinner for me at a place of my choice -- the food was just okay, fine, acceptable, whatever -- I had a (COUGH COUGH COUGH) limited seafood encounter / experience while in Maine, but I'm extremely well-versed otherwise when it comes to seafood in general... The food here is mediocre, but at least gratefully and thankfully it's priced  very accordingly -- I've actually been to places serving similar food (recently, unfortunately) and it was (DAMN IT ALL TO HELL) twice as much.

Find somewhere nearby to sit down and eat, or come early, or come late -- but avoid prime-time... Service is whatever, but if you have a craving, I can't help but giving this place an entirely whole-hearted recommendation, because it definitely scratches the itch without causing too much harm on the billfold.

Wonderful! A great, delicious deal.

The space itself is tiny and seating is only stools for 8 or 9 people. The decor needs a little extra love too.

But what Luke's lacks in space and ambiance it makes up in amazing fast, friendly service and delicious, affordable lobster rolls. Don't tell anyone I said so, but these lobster rolls are even better than the ones I grew up with on Lawng Island!
