This is the best pizza in Beverly, by a wide margin.

As every other review will tell you, Luigi's has very distinct sweet sauce; this plainly isn't for everyone, and a lot of the poor reviews listed here pretty much hinge on the author not liking this style. But for those of us that think the flavor combination is irresistible their pizza and calzones are second to none. Their service is friendly and down to earth; on a particularly busy night my friend and I had to wait an extra ten minutes for our pizza (not usual, but perfectly reasonable on a weekend) and the owner made up for it by giving us a small cheese pizza on the house.

Touches like that and the outstanding quality of their food (plus the fact that it's right up the street) definitely make them the best.

EDIT: I just wanted to point out that for some reason a huge amount of their positive reviews on this site are automatically filtered out; almost every one of the ~25 filtered reviews are positive five star. So check out the filtered reviews for the majority opinion!

Decent slice.  Be aware that they are known for their sweet sauce, so if that's not what you look for in your pizza, think twice.

This tiny place gets LOUD so get your pie to go.

Luigis is amazing enough that, if you're ok with sweet sauce (which I love), it is a place you must try at least once.

The pizza slices are huge (1/4 of a pizza) and, in my opinion, underpriced.  Usually, cheese or pepperoni is ready but for a quick reheat and there's almost always a daily Boston Herald to read while you're waiting.

I only gave it 4 stars because it's very small inside and not the kind of place to really sit down for a lunch unless you're a single warrior, or a couple that is used to living on a shoestring budget. ;)  Anything over 2 and it starts getting crowded.

As for pizza, though, MUST TRY.

First off $5 delivery fee and no take out menus available. Menus have not been available for months. We've stopped by when we walk our dogs asking for a menu on several occasions. No website to look at for a menu either.

After picking up the pizza and opening the box I'm hit with the smell. Holy crap it smells gooooooodd. Most of the veggies are freshly sliced and looks good. The mushrooms are from a can. The slices are large, 6 slices to the large pizza. The cheese is melted and golden brown in areas, the crust is slightly charred in some areas and golden brown in others. Onions are wilted and per our request no broccoli.

I notice the dough is hand formed. Score a point. The sauce as all the reviews state is sweet and a tad spicy. The crust is good too, chewy inside and crispy outside. There is a touch of charring on the edge of the crust, which I'm all for, it was tasty.

The sauce is good but its DAMN sweet. The sauce almost needs a foil for it's sweetness, it'd be good with sausage or even hamburger. The cheese was also very good too. I'm not sure I'd order another veggie only pizza from them becuase the sauce is too sweet with the veggies.

The service is good and fast but not overly friendly, particularly over the phone. However they got the order spot on, so I suspect that if I asked them to go light on the sauce they'd do it.

Over all a very good pizza at a very good price, particularly if you like sweet sauce with a touch of heat. I will order more pizza from them, with a request to go light on the sauce, provided I'm not to lazy to go for pick up.

After running the excellent Little Italy for years, these folks retired. The people who took over kept the distinctive sweet sauce, and let the rest of the quality control drip down the drain.

Thank goodness these originals came out of retirement to open Luigi's.

Whenever I return to Beverly I try to get me a pie from here (minus one star because I am often thwarted by the odd hours). I think the eggplant goes best with the distinctive sweet sauce. It's not for everyone, but in a town loaded with pizza joints, if you don't like it, don't be a hater -- just go quietly elsewhere.

I was unaware that these people ran Little Italy in the past as I've only known of that restaurant for a few years now. I went to Luigi's after hearing about them online and that they had "sweet sauce" like Little Italy.

The man working there was very nice and upon first taste it tasted nearly identical, but I soon discovered it was much different.. More spices,  worse tasting sauce..  It was good, but not as sweet and with a slight bitter taste.

Little Italy is still my favorite, though I'd say try both... People have different tastes after all.

The slices look very good, but I didn't care for it.  I knew they had a sweet sauce, but this sauce was way too sweet.  I thought it was gross.  I prefer Sebastian's in Gloucester for a sweet sauce.  The staff is very friendly.  I had a chicken finger calzone and that was decent.

Terrible. The sauce was so sweet I thought they had accidently poured a whole bag of sugar in the sauce and just said "oh well, lets use it anyway." I couldn't eat it. It was like saccharin. Blech. I mean over the top sweet. Not a little sweet.  Ridiculously sweet.

Looks pretty good, smells good but 1 word SWEET. Way too sweet for a pizza sauce for me. Sugary sauce over-powered everything else on the pie. Newer small restaurant so I'm sure he is going to do well with other items, and hey I'll give it another shot as maybe it was a fluke or maybe some people like their sauce sweet; if so here's the place for you.

This place closed and re-opened at 38 Rantoul St. where Theo's used to be.  I tried it for the first time tonight.  I'm all about supporting the new local businesses but I can't say that I'll go back.  To describe their pizza as sweet pizza is an understatement. Wow.  I'm familiar with sweet pizza like Sebastian's in Gloucester but this is way to sweet for my taste.  In addition to the pizza, they close early, 9 pm on Saturday nights, no website, no take out menus.  Best thing about this experience was the price.

Awful pizza I made the mistake of going here without reading a review and I thought I'd give it a try. Pizza was cheap but I'm not sure what I paid for. Sweeeet sauce is the understatement of the year. Tasted like sweet-tarts. The staff wasn't even friendly. It's not closed...yet.
