I lived above this neighborhood treasure for 12 years and this slice is the one that all others are to be compared.  Hands down. Hot.  Cold.  Period.  This is the best there is.

Luigi's has been around since '86 and its good enough for Biggie Smalls' Mom (she lives down the street), Chris Rock, Rosie Perez and Jay Z (all peeps I've seen copping themselves a slice over the years) for them to come back to the 'hood, it's saying something.

I spent 3 months in South America recently and was jonesin for a slice from here when I got back- and it was.  As soon as I set my bags down, I walked over, bought two slices and ate them at the counter.

It's hard to describe pizza and I'll let the Slice Harvester blog describe the nuances, but this is the perfect pizza for the standard fold in half NY pizza pie style.  Perfect consistency, price is right, and I'ma have one on Tuesday.

"It's the best pizza place in the area", quoting my bf. Since my arrival to Brklyn, my guy have constantly raved about Luigi's every time we walk by or when we pass by on the B38. Finally I tried it and I see (or tasted) why!

The joint has no sitting area nor delivery service, yet every time we pass by there are customers. Price is fair and actually cheap. 2 bucks for a Sicilian slice (thick crust).

The staff are friendly and polite. Pizza is super tasty when its fresh out of the oven; thin, hot, semi crunchy crust is exactly the way I want my perfect pizza to be.

It makes me wonder if having pizza toasty is their trick, thus they don't even bother to do delivery. I dislike cold pizza anyways, I always heat the deliveries up again to make it crunchy and cheese melty (yes I'm a freak ok? )

I love good pizza...what else can I say? And when in New York, eating pizza is a must! Now this pizza was a real treat! Authentic and absolutely delicious! We ordered the combination pan pizza...yes, an entire pizza so I could take some back to California with me the next day (by the way, this pizza freezes well) Matched with a good California Cabernet (I brought good wine from home!), one experiences pure heaven. Only draw back, there is no place to sit while waiting for the pizza to bake. We sat on the curb for about 25 minutes. Definitely worth the wait.

Day 8 in Brooklyn, and I decided to walk way past a few pizza establishments near the apt. Luigi's was highly recommended and I was in search of the much vaunted paper thin pizza crust NY pizza places are supposedly famous for.

It only took 3-4 minutes to get my slice of pepperoni served on a paper plate, and it did not disappoint. This place has ruined me for single serving slice pizza, and I'll now be forced to walk the few extra blocks to get the goods.

The crust is thin as advertised, and the sauce sweet, but not annoyingly too sweet.

...and the price was right. I will return again and again.

Great price for a tasty slice. The service is fast and friendly.

I agree with a previous review that said Luigi's doesn't have a good cold pizza taste.  Make sure you eat while it's hot!

Oh, and in the evenings (at least on the weekday's) there isn't a huge selection.  Expect plain, pepperoni and white slices.

Far and beyond the best pizza within walking distance of Pratt and probably my favorite pizza I've had in Brooklyn. The place is small and unassuming, its obvious the focus here is the Pizza and this is where the place delivers in spades.

Perhaps it's the thin and crispy crust, or maybe it's the cheese which seems both plentiful and tasteful at the same time, or it could just be its sauce which balances perfectly between sweet and tangy. To top it off, the prices are pretty reasonable and the pie itself is quite filling depending on the toppings.

I also can't help but love any pizza restaurant that would have a poster for Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing over on the wall. Its almost as if they  completely missed the point of the pizza place in that movie. If only the place was called Sal's Pizza, they'd have to replace windows all the time with all the inevitable chair throwing.

When I was a student at Pratt, I use to treat myself to the sicilian slice from time to time. It is soooo amazing. I think it is was one of New York's best kept secrets. For $2.50 you cant go wrong. Stop in and support a local and amazing pizzeria. Thank you Luigi's for so many years of awesome pizza!!

the three luigi's are all really nice and the service is fast! prices are recession friendly too, like $2 or $3 a slice. i go here all the time with my boyfriend who goes to pratt since both locations are really close to the campus. and hey! if the G train pisses you off, just walk up a few blocks and grab a slice. sure to cheer you up, always works for me.

seriously superior pizza. show me a better slice of margherita and we'll talk.

I am a huuuuge fan of their plain sicilian. my friend converted me the other day.

When I first went there, I got the vegetable pizza but it was a so so. However, their sicilian is completely in a different level. the bottom part his nice and crispy and when you bite into it the dough just gives way.  Really not bad for 2.25 bucks.

but I realized that, their sicilian tastes better when re-heated than freshly baked. Its strange, I know. but when they re-heat it, they get that whole crispy bottom working with it. hmm~

You want great New York pizza go here. i use to live in this neighborhood and it is the best around. Sometimes the service is brutal, even by NYC standards. It is very good hot, but also good cold. Go here for sure.

So quick & easy & delicious!  Walk up to the window or duck inside & get a slice of almost anything.  Crispy crust (not very thin, but definitely not too thick), great sauce, fresh toppings - will put whatever you want on it.

I think it's above-average pizza, but definitely not THE BEST end-all be-all pizza in New York or even in Brooklyn. The sauce was tasty (not too sweet, not too thick) and the crust was nice and crispy, as a good NYC slice should be, but it wasn't mind-blowing. For $2.25, it rates with most pizza places with no seating. It is nice and close to Pratt though, so I suggest grabbing a couple slices and sitting on their lawn.

Very good pizza made by real Sicilians.  Fair prices.  I think based on that differential, it's better than Graziella's nearby.  Don't expect epicurean brick-oven style though, this is down and dirty Brooklyn pie.

Solid.

I've been coming here since I was a wee lass... and I usually make this one of my stops on my way home from work.

The guys that work here are friendly. Their pizza is great. Good balance of cheese and sauce. Their garlic knots are ok... but I like bread... and I like garlic, so why not?

Oh, yummy sicilian slices! mmmm mmmm!!

this pizza takes me back to the good ol' days when u could fold a pizza in half and just causally munch on it like no ones business. This place is considered best pizza in NY. Reasons for it- theres no glam and extravagant presentation just a slice the way u like it. Ur getting what u piad for, an original piece of NY

This is my favorite pizza place, it's so close to campus and I can't resist getting a slice when I come back home from the G train. They are always very fast and super nice.

But really-you have to try it, the crust mmmmm, the white pizza is my favorite.

Another astounding pizza place found on our visit to the Big Apple. If you are from Chicago like me, don't travel to New York and go to just any old pizza place. Go to the top dogs in Brooklyn/Queens and see what the buzz is about.  We are so glad we did.  This pizza just tastes better than Aurelio's or Home Run, which I assumed were the greatest on Earth. Luigi's has pizza down to a perfected craft.

What a plesant surprise. I came to this modest walkup pizza place with the solo purpose of grabbing a quick slice after work. I didn't know anything about this place and their Neapolitan pizza was one of the best slices i've ever had. I had to grab another, this time I got a pepperoni slice, which was terrific. The ingredients are what make this pizza, good quality cheese, sauce and pepperoni. There really isn't anywhere to sit so be prepared to stand or bring it home.

Great for a slice or two.

As for getting an entire pie, well, do it only if you've got a company to feed.  The other day I got a large pie just for myself and after two slices, I realized that there's a reason why I've been stopping by for slices as opposed to entire pies.

It's a lot of pizza, and to be honest, Luigi's don't have the great cold pizza taste.  I like it reheated in their oven and that's the only way I'm going to, from now on, do Luigi.

Luigi's has been there for me through thick and thin. With a crispy crust, delightful sauce, and juuust the right amount of cheese, it has the power to melt troubles away.

No bells, no whistles--it's the pie you envision when you dream of NY pizza.

Simply the best Pizza in all of New York.  If you want real New York pizza, this is the spot.  Living in NY all my life, I never had better pizza than here at Luigi's.  The guys there are very friendly and work fast.  I always tend to drop by and talk about calcio (soccer) with one of the owners.  I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

Luigi's or Waluigi's as I like to call it, offers exceptionally delicious slices from a window on DeKalb. Always a good slice. Don't forget to hit up the bodega next door for a tasty beverage and to play with their cat.

Honestly, I've walked by here not even hungry and have thought about buying a slice just cause I knew it would be so good.

The place has some of the best straightforward pizza around. Good crust. Good cheese. Good sauce. Sweet guys work there too. They don't deliver and there isn't really anywhere to sit, but they don't mind if you hover by the counter and you can always call ahead before you drag your lazy bum over there.

Oh Luigi's, you fed me and all my friends through our college days! And how! All through college and since I moved back to the 'hood, Luigi's has kept me alive with their cheap delicious slices. How I'm not morbidly obese, I have no idea. They've recently added new toppings like pesto and tomato basil to boot! I recommend just a plain slice or Sicilian (both only $1.75!) if you're feeling carb-crazy. The dudes are really nice too. They don't deliver, but they don't need to. Errrboday knows Luigi's is the best.

simply some of the best and freshest NY style pizza i've ever had,  less than three bucks for any slice you want, served up quickly, expertly, and friendily by the local staff. thin, perfectly crispy, but still foldable, crust that  is nearly impossible to find outside NYC (and not too dependably found in the city either). try the tomato slice with crushed tomato chunks cut with spices and a heap of cheese,  go to town with the killer italian sausage, or just grab the ol' reliable cheese or pepperoni with the house margherita sautce.  the calzones are also "dank" (as a friend could not stop repeating). if you're in the area, stop by without hesitation. just don't expect a seat . actually they do have a small plastic table with one small plastic "stool" out on the sidewalk. which you won't need anyway, since you'll be devouring your pizza before you can think about moving. yup, there's no losing here. except maybe your life. just kidding: unless you're a twit, the projects aren't that scary.
