Summit Ave/winchester St (Green)
i really wonder what this food is made of - its definately not made for humans - i suspect they shop for their products at petco
stay away unless you have the munchies and there is nothing else open - too bad store 24 closes @ 12 around the corner - what the hell is that all about
Damn it! Why the hell can't I find some good Chinese food!!
Their hot and sour soup tastes like pepper water. Just some goo that tastes like black pepper.
The peking ravioli (aren't they called dumplings?) were fine.
The general Gau's was icky. Why can't anyone in Boston make good General Tso's chicken?? ( If you're reading this and happen to know where I can find GOOD general Tso's - please email me) And while they're at it, why can't they call it General Tso's like everyone else in the country? What's up with this?
A one-star restaurant, but two stars because they delivered really quickly.
I expect Chinese food to be cheap and greasy, and Lucky Wah delivers. They also deliver it late which is awesome. I only get the 3 appetizer combination plate (pork friend rice, chicken fingers, boneless ribs, and teriyaki steak), and I've never had a problem with an order. My heart problem hates me for it, but I love this place.
Want to wait two hours for your food to be delivered? Then order from here.
The food is okay - it's cheap, greasy Chinese. The lo mein was decent, and the peking ravioli was nice and doughy. But in the ghetto of cheap Chinese food, there is something distinct that set this place apart: customer service.
I was getting delivery to my friend's place in Brookline, and about 10 minutes after we ordered, they called my phone. We looked at each other - was the food here already? No, as it turns out, but the guy on the phone sounded concerned. I had ordered the ginger scallion lo mein, and he gravely reported that they were out of scallions, and would onions be okay? Of course! I was genuinely touched by his efforts, especially since I've ordered from similar Chinese places that ended up not delivering, or delivering to the wrong address, giving me the wrong food, etc. And here's this guy, making absolutely sure that I'll be okay with onions.
Also, the food came ridiculously fast after that conversation.
Lucky Wah, I salute you.
The best budget Chinese Restaurant yet. Ok, Wah's is NOT gourmet, it is not a five star restaurant..but the best way to judge a Chinese restaurant is their broccoli (sounds strange but it's true). Most budget Chinese places have yellowish soggy broccoli. Wah's is fresh green and crispy. Their list of entrees is VERY impressive..everything from Mooshi, to Duck to Singapore style dishes..and at 2 am when you get the munchies, there is nothing better than their General Gau's, YOu can actually taste the ginger and garlic whereas most budget places, their General Gaus is nothing more than Chicken Fingers...Not every Chinese place does everything perfectly (those of you that are nit-picking over a particular item!). You have to try several dishes before you can truly rate a place, and I've been coming here for 12 years. The fact that Lucky Wah has been in business for decades while other plaves have come and gone is a testament to the fact that they are doing it RIGHT! Highly recommended!!
***This review is only referring to the bubble/boba tea.***
I stopped here for a refreshing bubble tea after having a satisfactory dinner at a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately, my tea was neither refreshing nor tasty. The green milk tea has barely any flavor at all, and the boba were very tough (barely chewable). I ended up taking 2 sips (to make sure I hadn't gotten some rogue yucky boba) and throwing the rest away.
For the boba tea at Lucky Wah, I've renamed this place the Yucky Wah.

Aw. I was really pulling for this place-- the crab rangoon used to be a favorite of mine: simple, slightly sweet cream cheese and some onion bits. Well, that's the way I like it. But even that's begun to dissappoint me and about the last things this place has going for it are late nite hours and humongo portions. I mean, enough to last you 3 or 4 days (especially the very garlicky low mein). So... take that for what's it worth. The food will certainly pass, but not for anything spectacular.
I was a regular at Lucky Wah during my Boston days. In fact, I still remember their phone number.
Lucky Wah is the place to go if you need food at 3am. The little lady you see in there has been there for years, and although she sounds a little scary, she's quite nice. Their dinner specials are awesome. You get a plate full of rice (white or fried), an entree (they have millions of them) and an appetizer (stick to the beef teriyaki, trust me). The best part is that the dinner special goes for about $7, and is ginormous. So large, it could feed two people. I always recommend the schezwan spicy chicken (they are a little heavy on the celery though) and chicken with broccoli. They even a dieter's side where they will just steam vegetables and chicken for you.
Delivery is wicked fast too!

I rarely eat Chinese food but today my lovely Shwarma King was closed so I decided to check out this place which is a few doors down. What a hole in the wall but I just got some pretty good sesame tofu as a lunch special from them (I am super picky with my Chinese restaurant tofu- and my tofu in general) and some really good bubble tea. It was pretty cheap and I am sure I will have a lot left over. They had a lot of vegetarian options in general, many of which were also on the lunch specials and combination plates menu (which is often not the case at many other Chinese restaurants I have been to). I think it's great that they are open until 3am most days, wish I had known about this place when I was (practically) living around the corner on Marion St.
It's a good step up from Panda Express, which isn't saying much, but if you're feeling like that kind of food, Lucky Wah is your best bet. HUGE PORTIONS, and I mean, BIG! I got the Orange Chicken Combo Plate, which comes with an appetizer, and no joke, the biggest pieces of orange chicken I've ever seen!!! The price is right, too. Here's their menu because you're going to want to get take-out: http://boston.menupage...
This is certainly the most fresh food in the area. Not to mention that their delivery is lightening fast. I was somewhat dissapointed with the fact that my last delivery order was not quite hot, but considering all the previous times were excellent, I have to give them a great rating.

When you get right down to it, my standards for Chinese food are pretty low. If you can fry up a good egg roll and serviceable General Tso's Chicken, you're all right in my book. Thus, Lucky Wah is all right in my book. Pretty cheap fare, and you get a lot of food--if you ever have a hankerin' for fried fare at 2 AM, rest assured that they're the only place in this miserable town that hasn't closed up shop yet, and for $16 you can get the Pu Pu Platter for 2, which I once ordered for myself and was able to eat for four consecutive dinners before running out of crab rangoon and fried shrimp. I can't really gush too much about their exquisite food, because it's not like they're a gourmet restaurant, and for $6, what more do you want than some tasty orange beef?

This is the place that I regularly order chinese from. It's pretty good and the portions are relatively large. The crab rangoon is delightful, as is the orange chicken.
Yummy Chinese + cheap prices + fast service + open late + big portions = Recipe for success.
Love to come here for take-out.

I thought I am ok with this restaurant, but this is kind like really really bad Chinese. I don't like their dumpling at all. I don't feel any taste from it. I usually like wanton soup but I don't like their soup. It is probably because I don't like their skin of any kind of dumpling or wrapping staff.
A little note, take out wanton soup and boil 5 more min in you home makes huge difference.
I think you should order from entree. I think their entries are pretty good.

They have over 200 kinds of menu. I got the take out menu to learn what kind of foods they have. Price also not expensive.
I am not the bubble tea person because my stomack is too small for that but there are bubule tea as well.
They also offer diet special menu. Those are not fried but steamed foods. A lot of choices!

Lucky Wah is decent, greasy Chinese food. If you are looking for the appetizer variety foods this is the place. Good chicken fingers, crab rangoons, teriyaki etc. Unfortunately I am not a fan of their General Gau's chicken which I find to be substandard.
Pretty good Chinese food, HUGE portions. Open really late. Plus, they deliver. If you go on campusfood.com they have specials, like a free egg roll with an order over $20. And those egg rolls are HUGE. Check it out.
ick.
the crab rangoon are severely disappointing. i should have stuck with new hong kong for that.
the diet menu was interesting, but diet low mein is not very good. just fyi. i don't think it's their fault. i foolishly thought low mein could be made to taste good and still not be bad for you.
