Lucky Vitos is really good when they remember to add enough sauce. I like the dough not too thin and not thick. The sauce is great , good flavor so please dont skimp on the sauce and they do use good cheese. I love their fries and bbq sauce
Great Logan Square Area Pizza, they are prompt on their delivery too!!!
ZERO stars...I too wonder what others see in this place. The pizza was horrible, I mean down right shameful. We ordered a large pizza (which arrived cold but I am an adult, I can warm things up) and a salad. When the the driver got to our place, Vito didn't give him a receipt for the total so I gave him 25 bucks and called it a day. The crack staff called me back 2 hours later EIGHT TIMES when we were sleeping for their 6 bucks. I know people need to make money but come on...
I promise I will never order from this dump again. I do blame myself however for breaking the rule of thumb...never order food from a flyer that is put on your fence, it means its awful...and Lucky Vito's is just that, awful.
Meh. Ordered delivery from here because I didn't feel like making dinner. I ordered the special which was baked lasagna and also a house salad. House salad was disappointing. It consisted of lettuce, two tomato wedges and about 5 croutons. Lasagna didn't have much flavor to it, the best part of it was the melted mozzarella on top.
Unlike others I did not have a problem with delivery. Grubhub said an hour and it took an hour.
I might get food from here again but only if I was in the area.
DIS-GUSTING! Hands down the WORST pizza I have ever tried in this city. WHOAH THAT WAS BAD! The crust tasted like it had soap in it, the pizza was lukewarm at best and the cheese was, well, god knows what was in that either! What a waste of money and time!
I'm sorry but this is the worst pizza in north America.
Everything tatses like it's out of a can. Crust is blah, sauce is blah, cheese is blah. But it's cheap so I guess you really get what you pay for.
I'm sayin though...
Wack!
They delivered fast to North Center, and they're one of the cheapest pizzas around. Still, you get what you pay for. It's good drunk pizza, good cheap pizza, but the salt and grease definitely make it hard to eat more than a few pieces in one sitting. Man, it was salty. I have to say I did enjoy the gooeyness of the cheese, especially when it was fresh and hot. I'd order from here again just for the price, especially if I wasn't in the mood for a really gourmet experience.
I ordered delivery from Lucky Vito's, and I was sure lucky they found my address after reading the other reviews. They said it would take an hour for delivery, and it did indeed make it to my place in an hour. Given the terrible road conditions, I was happy with that. I ordered a thin crust pizza with sausage and mushrooms. I'll have to admit, it was a pretty tasty pizza. The sauce had a zesty flavor vs sweet...which I prefer. The sausage was real Italian sausage vs that artificial stuff that Pizza Hut uses. The crust was thin and crispy for the most part. In addition, the pizza wasn't greasy like its competitors just down the street.
I'll give Lucky Vitos another shot the next time I order pizza. It's a solid choice.
They deliver steak, and it's actually GOOD. Need I say more?
This place is really meh, but not bad enough that I feel 100% comfortable calling it "Sucky Vito's." (Maybe "Barely Adequate Vito's" would be most correct.)
This is really unremarkable, ho-hum pizza. I could see it hitting the spot if you were drunk and needed a slice to settle your stomach, but that's about it. There are a bazillion places in Chicago where you can get more interesting pizza for around the same price.
This is my most favorite pizza place. I've been eating Lucky Vito's pizza for over five years now. I only recently discovered this location, but either one will not disappoint.
For me sauce is a big issue. I don't like pizza that is doused in sauce, but I don't want it to be completely nonexistent or lack taste. Lucky Vito's seems to have found the perfect combination of taste and amount in terms of sauce.
The staff is friendly and they offer delivery as well. They usually say it will take an hour if you ask for delivery, but I've never had to wait for than a half hour. Even if it does take an hour I think you'll find it was well worth the wait.
It's pretty easy on the budget too. They have daily specials and aren't shy about letting you know about them.
Be still my heart. No really.... Another place where I can legitimately eat pizza without looking like a freak. I'm in HEAVEN.
They have an amazing pesto pizza with goat cheese topping. It's great, incredible, spectacular. Need I go on? Really, I'm sick of people looking at me like I'm a freak when I tell them I'm allergic to anything with tomato, so, when I see a pesto pizza you better believe I'm ordering that heaven-sent gift and eating every piece of it.
And don't even try to stick your hands in to try a piece, cause chances are you'll get a stump back.
This is MY pizza, MINE!
We ordered it in yesterday for Da Bear game. I can't agree with the comments regarding poor delivery. My order arrived right when I was told it would, it was piping hot and very good.
I think what sets Vito's apart from other Logan Square pizza joints is it's sauce. It's got a little zip to it. The crusts on these pies were also very good, perfectly cooked. The sausage is good, as well.
The pizza reheats pretty good for dinner too.
Lucky vitos has good pizza if you eat IN the place!
dont even get delivery, I live 2 blocks from them and they always get lost trying to find my house and by the time the pizza arrives its cold.
I hate cold pizza
Their Pizza is EXCELENT!, WHEN its hot!
They have good service when its the Family.! sometimes they have some not so smart girls working the counter who kinda look at you like your a moron, for expecting service.
Great resturant, great service, great pizza, BAD delivery!
Love the pizza, good sauce, nice crust. Especially love the football sized pizza when I have a crowd of drunks over at my house - it'll feed a mob. Have I had better pizza? Sure - but not at this price that will actually deliver to my house.
Salads are fresh, but they use a really weird ranch dressing - not bad, just weird. Sandwiches are good as well.
Delivery is fast (always w/in 20 minutes of me ordering) and the delivery guy is awesome, I agree with Erin S. - I LOVE that delivery driver. He's been bringing me pizza for years and is absolutely hilarious. He was also in the Bob Inn the night the Sox won the World Series, so he's all good in my book.
Speaking of the Bob Inn, they deliver there. Yay!
quick walk in/walk out. sausage pizza is the best!
great bang for your buck!
Basically, I come here for everything but the pizza. The pizza is cheap as hell, but the pizza is also very disappointing. Pan pizza fares better than their thin crust. Ask for extra sauce.
The fried chicken is awesome! Seriously good breadcrumb crust fried-chicken. The kind of chicken you would expect someone's mom to make and that's cheap too. The pastas are surprisingly tasty for their simplicity and the fact this place isn't all that Italian to begin with. The sandwiches are what you'd expect out of a pizzeria.
I really like their fried chicken though. . .
They have the best damn pizza slices in the world, ever, ever, ever. They are cheap, filling, and of course delicious. If you love thin but flaky crust with a thin but greasy set of toppings, then this place is for you!
So one might ask, "why not the fifth star?" This may sound absurd and something that is psychological, but whole pizzas aren't as good. I was going to write more about this to justify myself, but I can't. They're just not. In fact, when delivered as a whole pizza it doesn't even taste the same! So just get the slices cuz they are off the hook.
Did you guys eat the same pizza I did?
Let me preface this by saying that pizza is a lot like bacon in that bad pizza (and bacon) is still pretty great. I mean, you're talking to a girl who thinks Totino's Party Pizzas are the height of tastiness.
But two friends and I ordered a pizza from Lucky Vito's. We dug in and watched TV. Midway through my first piece, I began to realized that the dough was a touch raw in the center, the cheese was rubbery, and the scant sauce was tasteless. "Surely I must be mistaken," I thought. "There isn't really such a thing as BAD pizza." Silently I soldiered on, but each subsequent piece was grosser and grosser. Embarrassed, I remained mum, until one of my friends sheepishly said, "Is it just me or is this pizza terrible?" My other friend and I, relieved that someone had finally said it, put down our slices, and agreed.
Never before (and never since!) have a been unable to finish some pizza. LV's isn't as bad as middle school grade-Q-government-cheese-and-brain-texture-crust pizza, but it's close.
I ordered delivery for the first time from this place the other night. The hostess was a bit abrupt and not very friendly. We were quoted one hour for delivery and they made it in an hour and 15 minutes. We are in a hard to find street so it's par for the course.
I had a calzone and my wife the ravioli. The calzone was cooked just right unfortunately, there was more crust than anything in it. Same for the raviolis, 5 of them swimming in sauce. We also ordered a pizza on the side for later to try the special. The pizza was fairly good and being the special, it was a pretty good deal.
Overall, I'd say the food is OK and if we order again from there, we would stick to the specials (one different each day of the week). The rest seems a bit overpriced for what you get. It's really too bad because the crust on that calzone was tasty and perfectly cooked, it was just empty.
Mass quantities-
It's like $20 bucks for a pizza that can serve (seriously) like 7 or 8 people/ We have parties at our house for football with 20-30 people, buy 2 bags of chips and 3 of these pizzas, everyone is stuffed and we have leftovers. Not the greatest pizza in Chicago, but a higher quality product at an unbeatable value.
This is the best pizza that delivers to the Logan/Humboldt/Bucktown area. It's consistently great. The sausage is scrumptious! Be sure to keep the menus because there are awesome special coupons. The one my husband and I just used was for a medium pizza w one topping plus a free appetizer for only $11.50!!! mmm mmm good : )
I didn't hate it, but didn't actively like it either. In terms of the pleasure it gave me, I would put this about on par with a Jewel Chef's Kitchen pizza. Keep in mind, I like Jewel Chef's Kitchen pizza. But it costs me 4 bucks and not 10, and the Jewel one has more sauce which is actually tangier. I can't call their pizza bad, but if I am going to go through the process of ordering pizza I wouldn't necessarily go for this one. It's cheap as pizza places go, but if you're ordering take-out then you're obviously not that worried about cost. That being the case, you can do better.
It's a shame, they really make good pizza, but now I have to give them one star because the people who run the place are just common criminal garbage. A few weeks ago I ordered a pizza. After waiting an hour and a half the delivery driver finally gave me a call. He was mumbling in spanish but I figured he was out side with my order. When I got down the stairs the driver who was wreaking of fresh weed smoke handed me a few bags of food and took my credit card. Something felt strange but I was starving and it was freezing out so i was in a hurry. I asked "is this the right food?" and he nodded affirmative. I asked again and got a "yes" out of him. When I got inside I looked at the order to find cheeseburgers and a sausage pizza, not the vegitarian pie and french fries I had ordered. I called Vito's back and finally got the driver to return with my food which was way less than edible at this point. The little degenerate driver also tried to get more money from me too on the second delivery. Luckily I was able to contain my anger enough just to shut the door and not beat him to a bloody pulp on the sidewalk out front of my house. I called back and was offered a refund when I requested one. I would never get back the 2 hours I waited for this 'food' but I thought it was resolved. Later I checked my bank records to find no refund. This has resulted in 3 rounds of phone calls over the last two weeks and several promises that my card would be credited. As you guessed I still have not been refunded. Now I'm going through the hassle of having to dispute the charges through my card provider, and reporting a consumer fraud complaint, quite an unnecessary pain in my ass. Any way like I said the pizza is good but not worth any of this. Call someone else.
Hit or miss Pizza joint, Mostly hit, But a couple of misses pissed me off as I was kind of lit @ the time.
Love it...Thin or deep or pan or stuffed...whichever way...I love lucky vitos...However, The service can be irritating...They put you on hold and forget about you and then seem annoyed that you're still there...We also get a pizza delivery at least 2x a month and we still have to give directions to our street (which is 3 blks from them!)...But, all this is overlooked....The pizza is yummy!
While I have never tried their pan or stuffed, I can report that the thin crust is not only a great deal but a great pizza. Make sure to check out their daily specials, which saves you even more money. And, if you're adventurous, check out their extensive menu which includes sandwiches, pasta dishes, and buffalo wings. While there is a dining area, this appears to be more of a take out establishment.
Lurrrrrve. This. Place. Their thin crust is kinda more like a thin-ish hand-tossed style, but it's so good; crispy and chewy. Mike's right: great sauce. Also good, timely delivery (esp flirty older Latino man driver, I'm liking you muches), and I have never spoken to anyone there who was anything less than kind and professional. I (heart) Lucky Vito's.
I find it hard to believe that I ate the same pizza the rest of the reviewers ate. The pizza I got was terrible. Skimpy on the cheese (and about a three inch gap of sauce between the cheese and the crust), terrible sauce, and if that's thin crust I must have been eating non-existent crust this whole time. The only topping I got was garlic, and the garlic that arrived had the worst flavor possible in the nasty canned garlic you can get. It was somewhat sour and rotten tasting; really horrible. There was plenty of it, but the whole effect was basically inedible. Thick, stale tasting crust; bad bad garlic; sweet sauce; not enough cheese. It arrived hot, so I'll give it that, and it didn't take very long, but good god. I'll certainly never order from there again, and god help you if you do.
