Nothing special. Reasonably priced, service wasn't that great. But then again, it's hard to find a Chinese restaurant with really good service. I'd kind of rather go to the Japanese restaurant right next door.

The food isn't even edible. Everything is obviously old, and not made with fresh ingredients. The waitresses are mean and the service is slow. I never want to come here again.

This place has changed hands over the years and I started to go back here recently because the dim sum is cheap and the food tastes great.  The service is what you normally expect from a dim sum place-- people with trays of dim sum dropping it off at your table.

They use the ordering system here and you have to order your dim sum.  Although this takes more time, your dim sum is always hot and steamy and made to order.  Some of my favorite dishes here include the flakey fried ube roll and the porridge.

I do not, however, recommend this restaurant for dinner.  The prices do not justify the dish sizes and I think they kind of skimp on the portions.  There are other alternatives in the Sunset district that offer more for less.

Consider this a warning though-- it is extremely hard to find parking down there.  I usually have to park around Balboa in order to go to this restaurant.  If y ou don't mind a 3-4 block walk, then this should not be an issue.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite dim sum place in SF so far. I love dim sum.... especially CHEAP dim sum. Amazing. They are very nice and the service is always good and fast. The food is always hot and consistently delicious. You can seriously stuff yourself and leave with a $20 bill (or less) for two people. I highly recommend this place!!!

I guess this place captures its main crowd on Sunday for family dim-sum.  It's open the rest of the week for shmoes like me who want quick take out, but my experiences have been lacklustre.

The service is good, it's never busy enough in there during the week to worry about that.  The regular menu food is really just plain, standard stuff.  Nothing exciting or out of the ordinary.

It goes without saying that in San Francisco there is a dearth of Chinese food restaurants.  Finding a good one is the real challenge.

This is your typical dim sum restaurant, it's not bad. We were there at 11 on a weekday so obviously the service was super quick and good.

Pretty clean inside, dim sum is good, sizes are good/fair, and prices are cheap! The only thing that turned me off was the really crazy dirty-status kitchen I got a peek of on my way to the bathroom..I know Cantonese restaurants are all like this, but this one in particular kinda grossed me out.

oh yeah and it's not served like traditional style.. You choose your dim sum on a piece of paper and then hand it in. I actually think this is good and bad, it's bad in the sense that you don't get that "dim sum" experience, but then at least I know the dim sum I ordered are getting steamed/cooked/fried right now and they haven't been sitting out there for ages if you know what I mean.

Overall not bad, but not superb. Just slightly above average. I'd give it a B rating.

I will never, ever, ever eat here again in my life!  And I've been here two times.

Service = terrible and rude.  It was a slow night and they ignored us the whole time!  We had to flag them down to order, for water, for clean cups and chopsticks, and for the bill.

Food = terrible, flavorless, and just gross.  I see that they have dim sum here, but I did not try that, as I was here for dinner both times.

I was very appalled and disappointed with this place.

The food is great, love dim sum.  This place is almost near the Nazi dim sum place my family goes to but this one is my sis and mom's pick.  Trust me they don't need YELP to find a good place to eat.  I told her about yelp and she said "What the F is YELP?  Is it Filipino food place, Chinese, Japanese or Korean?"  I said ma, it's on line review site.  I said never mind.  Anyway, I told my sis already if she yelped this place.  She said I don't need to yelp it bcuz I know it's good place to eat.  I go here when I'm sober w/ my friends n cousins and I go here when I'm not sober.  We'll she ordered about 10 different kinds of dimsum from $1.85 shrimp dumpling to $4.00 a plate.  She even have the guts to order a small serving of steam rice.  Got to have to rice.  The service well it was slow at the beginning but once we are having conversation and eating at the same time, well, the food kept coming out of the kitchen.  We were eating for 1 1/2 hours.  Of course, we kept talking about Edward from Hair Republic.  Anyway, love the food, other customers next to us was talking to us about how she loves the place and that too  much competition and that mamas and papas are getting taken down by others.  No good place now a days still in business, she said.  I told her I'll yelp this place.  She said what's that.  Anyway, love the food and price.  One less star for parking.

Lucky Fortune is my favorite dim sum restaurant when I oversleep, and am too late for Koi Palace in Serramonte, or Joy Luck in San Mateo.  It's also an option if you want to avoid the crowds at these other locations.  While you have to order dim sum from the menu if you arrive late in the afternoon, this restaurant never disappoints me.  They offer a good selection for the size of the restaurant, and the quality is consistently above the many other choices in the city.

When you are in the mood for good old classic Cantonese dishes, this is the place to be.  You can expect clean, comfortable seating and pay very low prices.  My boys and I recommend Beef Chow Fun, Salt & Pepper Pork, Black Pepper Short Beef Ribs, and any kind of Mushu.  (Gotta get some veggies in there!)

I go here for Dim Sum almost every weekend. It's not the nicest restaurant (i.e. I wouldn't say I go there for the ambiance), but the food is great and definitely well-priced! The tables are always full and there is always a wait when I go, which is annoying when you are hungry and your stomach is demanding to be fed, but I can be forgiving since the wait says a lot about their food. The Shu Mai is perfect, Ha Gow (shrimp dumpling things) are good because they don't put water chestnuts in em like most other places do, and their pan fried noodles with chicken are yummy! Mmmm...I'm getting hungry thinkin about it...Just be forewarned, the lady who owns the restaurant can develop quite an attitude when it gets really busy and everyone is asking her about getting a table... (Understandable, but not acceptable.) Other than that, Lucky Fortune is your best bet for great dim sum!

I came here for a family dinner and was pretty disappointed. It was the kind of dinner that you eat just because you know you have to pay for it and you gotta eat sometime. Everything was sub-par to average. Nothing disgusting or horrible, but nothing fantastic or memorable enough to write about right now. Overall, super disappointed and surprised that I was.

Why? Because this place serves FABULOUS dim sum! You have to regard my dinner review as an indicator of when exactly to come to Lucky Fortune, and your only reason and time and purpose should be: dim sum. The service is so-so - the waitresses don't exactly always offer service with a smile, and the wait isn't always a comfortable or quick one, but let's be honest . . . it's San Francisco and this is a thriving dim sum restaurant, it's to be expected.

Everything on the dim sum menu rocks my world. The prices are super reasonable and there are little to no items that I don't enjoy to the fullest. Some of my favorites are the shu mai, har gow, chicken feet, salt and pepper calamari, shrimp rice rolls, and deep fried tofu. Their mango pudding is definitely worth ordering if you're a fan, as well. Considering I didn't know it'd be hard to mess up, it's never done right at neighboring restaurants/establishments that I'll disclose names of, but Lucky Fortune has awesome mango pudding - firm, rich and flavorful and drenched lovingly in every Asian dessert fanatic's favorite - condensed milk sauce. The perfect way to top off a potentially  grade A dim sum experience. :)

China town for dim sum? No need! My advice to anyone who comes here is come before the lunchtime rush...get the dim sum. I always look forward to coming back to this place. I also recommend the "FUKIN" friend rice. Pronounced 'foo-kin' as far as i know. i dont have much to say because i enjoy it there. If you're a stickler on A+ customer service then i wouldn't recommend going to any asian restaurant. If you want great food at a great price come to the Lucky Fortune.

This place might not have the finesse of a Yank Sing or a Ton Kiang but you can't argue with taste!  Sure, you may not know (or want to) where some of the ingredients really come from and the service is gruff on a good day but Lucky Fortune serves food that's almost as good as the top-drawer dim sum places in the city, without the pretension and at one fifth the price!

Faves:
turnip cake, sticky rice in lotus leaf, noodles in xo sauce, steamed shrimp and leek dumplings

Price is right ($1.80 - $4 per dish). Unusual for dim sum in that you pre-order your selection on a piece of paper (checkmarks, like ordering sushi at some sushi places). Portions are good. Shu mai is salty. Parking is a pain (this is the Richmond). Show up early (pre-noon) or wait in line. Waitstaff is courteous, and English-capable.

No push carts takes away somewhat from the usual dim sum experience, but I like it:

* No repeated instances of carts banging against your chair.
* Noise level is lower, since there is no more yelling-your-order-at-the-cart-person noise.
* You can always order more food, and they will bring it out as soon as they can make it.
* No surprise bills. The menu is clearly marked with the difference price categories and items. No cryptic bill with lots of little red stamps on it.

The dim sum is pretty good here.  Came here around noon on Sunday, and it was crowded with Chinese people, which is a good sign.  We had to sit at a round table with other people, which was kinda fun.  I got to hear these guys talk about hitting on girls at clubs.  Anyhow, the fried rice was okay; nothing that knocked my socks off.  The lemon chicken was tasty, but a bit heavy.  I did enjoy the dim sum however.  I was sitting in the back by the kitchen, and I saw an employee "wash" the chopsticks, which really grossed me out.  There is a reason that I ask for wooden chopsticks.  Anyhow, this place is very reasonably priced, and a great dim sum joint.

Cheap cheap for SF dim sum standards. 1.80 for small, 2.50 for medium, 2.90 for large. For 7 people, we all spent less than 10$ each  - good deal!

So now on to the food... it's quite decent. The variety is much the same as any other dim sum place in the area. Unlike Ton Kiang one block over, this place wasn't so crowded, and definitely had more Chinese people eating here (we checked out TK but there were so many non-Asian people, hence made us think taste might not be what we're accustomed to).

3.5 stars for me.

So I've been coming here for 5-6 years now. Mostly for dim sum but couple days ago, my family and I came here for dinner and we were ALL surprised at how good the dinner was. Dim sum was good in the beginning and I always suggest to come here but after the remodeling, the dim sum started to go downhill. I stopped coming here for almost a year and finally came back. Dinner was awesome!

We had the:
Crispy Chicken- This was the best chicken (in a Chinese restaurant) I've had in a while! The skin was super crispy and the meat was very juicy. It was squeezing out water like it had been injected with their juice or something.
Sweet and Sour Pork with LYCHEE- Has anyone ever even had Sweet and Sour with LYCHEE instead of the typical pineapple? This was so good. There were not one but plenty of lychee in the dish.
Flat noodles with egg whites and shrimp- Makes you feel like you're eating something healthy since it's egg whites and it has a really creamy and smooth taste to it. Big shrimps!
Crab-Didn't want to eat it since I hate peeling the shell but my mom ended up peeling it for me and boy I'm happy that I didn't miss out cuz it was really fresh.
Squab-They are known for their squab so this is a must order when you come. Make sure to tell them not to make them dry. Meaty, juicy, yummy.

I agree, service is horrible, that's why there are less stars but the food makes up for it. You can never get their attention but sooner or later when you scream for them, they'll notice you. =)

Mmm dim sum for Christmas; it doesn't get much better than that!  Lucky Fortune Seafood is pretty small so be prepared to wait, but the staff is very friendly.  The steamed BBQ pork bun is delicious, as are all of the steamed dumplings.  Unfortunately they only have one or two baked buns and I didn't see any anin dofu, but it was a very tasty dim sum experience!

For our anti-Christmas holiday, my Jewish friend and I followed his tradition of getting Chinese food for dinner. We wanted to go for dim sum but the place was packed. After a pretty long wait and massive confusion, we were finally seated and treated very kindly by the owner and the staff. It was definitely hard to understand what was going on since everyone was speaking Mandarin and I'm as American as can be. I think aside from my friend and one small table, the place was packed with other Asian families.

That's when you know the food is good. Huge tables holding huge families of all ages. The staff was incredibly awesome. When we left, they gave us huge smiles and thanked us.

The food was good. Fresh. Cooked well. Mmm. We ordered:

Peking Duck ($20)
Salt and Pepper Shrimp
Sauteed Pea Sprouts
Veggie Chow Mein (they ran out of Chow Fun!)
Rice
One Beer
One Coke

All for under $50 bucks total. We had so many leftovers. This place is great. Next time, I'm coming for the dim sum!

I go here during weekdays for dinner - when they give a bundle of 3 regular dishes + cheap crab. Then the bill comes out like 40sh, but it's a lot of foods and they taste actually good.

The service is moderate, which is to be expected for most of Asian places, and the cheap crab tastes pretty good.

I usually get Sweet and Sour Pork, Some vegetable with Beef on the top, and Clams in Wine soup. They are all pretty good, and their chicken is also good as well. This place tastes much better than most of Chinese place you can find on Clement (and between 3rd Avenue and 12th Avenue).

I've also heard that their dimsum is pretty good, but I've never had so far since I live closer to May Flower or Ton Kiang.

Go here if you want good "regular" Chinese food... and it's a great place if you are in the neighborhood, especially. Not a place to travel from far for a great food, though.

Preface: This is a composite review which includes (mostly) my view as well as my roommates and my girlfriend.  It is only intended for the Dim Sum.  And I'm not Chinese-which matters, I'm usually a little wary of non-Koreans reviewing Korean spots.

The Players: one Russian, one Korean, one Chinese, half a Filipino and half a Cambodian bring their judgments to the table.  The Russian cannot tolerate any spicy food (ketchup is almost too spicy for her). The Korean eats in mass quantities and wants more.  The Chinese-Cambodian eats in small quantities.  The Chinese-Filipina has a mama that can make most things in a Chinese restaurant and knows how it's supposed to taste.

Food here is damn good. For the longest time, I only had cold leftovers my friends brought me while I was still hungover in their apartment.  Actually sitting down and having a meal was almost like...like... having sex for the first time-you realize how insufficient jerking off really was.

Stuffed green peppers,  stuffed eggplant, steamed spare ribs, fried shrimp, dumplings and siu mai is always great, turnip cake is good-we always get these and they never disappoint.  Chinese-Filipina says it's like what her mom makes, Chinese-Cambodian says it's a lot a food and can't finish, Russian also likes the decor, I eat whatever is left and I think it's great-a little salty, but there's beer for that.

But I never get here early enough to get the rice roll...but I heard I could get it at Golden River...dun dun dunnnnnn.

My boyfriend and I like to get dinner take-out from Lucky Fortune.  The jah gee guy (fried chicken) is delicious, the beef chow fun is hearty, the veggies are always fresh, fish and fu gwah (bitter melon) is a favorite, and the soups are comforting (Westlake soup and the wonton soup are recommended).

Twenty dollars gets you a lot of  tastey food.  There is always a fair amount of yummy leftovers for lunch too!

I went to this restaurant because of the great Yelp reviews about good and cheap dim sum. Mainly because a Yelper said the dim sum had "GREAT prices! $1.90. $2.50. $2.90." Well, we had two orders of har gaw (shrimp dumplings) and 1 order of egg custard bun and they charged us $10 for that order. The bad thing is the waitress told me the dim sum was 3 orders for $5 BEFORE ordering. I'm definitely not going back! Hmmmphhfff!

Tasty and clean. The dumpling-type items (e.g., xiu mai, xia gow) here all seem to be 50% larger than what you would get in a Boston dim sum house. We stuffed ourselves silly on 10 dishes split three ways for $30 total, and probably could have ordered only 7 dishes and walked away full.

Food:  B+
Value:  B+
Service:  A
Decor:  simple small Chinese restaurant
Return Rate:  Occasional (when I'm in town)
Best Time To Eat:  anytime for the dim sum

This review is lap three of the "dim sum run" from the Golden River Restaurant.  Please be advised that we ordered the dim sum to go and ate in the car.

Lucky Fortune is not your average dim sum restaurant.  The service is friendly and the owner seems to know everyone.  She continuously checks on all the tables for quality control.  She also smiles quite frequently and says thank you with eye contact.  Being a Chinese-Vietnamese-Asian-American myself, this type of service is a rare experience for me.  Although the wait time was 15 minutes, the food was well worth the wait.  You could feel the piping hot dim sum through the containers and the plastic bag.  The flavors were very good and the dough was dead on (not hard, but soft and a good chew) ... I can go on the record to say that the dough could have been made fresh that day ... you'll hardly find good chewy dough in America.  I'll definitely return to Lucky Fortune to update my review with the full menu.

Here's what we ordered (08/31/07):

* SHRIMP W/ PEA SHOOTS:  B

* SHRIMP W/ CHIVES:  B+

Another pro is that the shrimps in the dumplings were huge and I hope you'll read my review for the last lap at Ton Kiang restaurant.

Pretty damn good dimsum, not to mention many other dishes. No longer do I have to go to LoonWah  in Cupertino or Dynasty in San Jose for overpriced dimsum or all the way over to Chinatown for cheap eats in hopes of authentic high quality dimsum!

Found this place through Yelp since I knew SF meant dimsum!

OK service. This is due to a big mishap with the crab we ordered! Ended up NOT having it because it had been an hour into our meal and we still didn't see it..we asked and the lady ignored us..and never acknowledged the whereabouts of our anticipated crab. We had finished our 9 orders of various dimsum and sat around waiting..hoping it would eventually come out..we were pretty patient...but finally decided to leave.

We went up there and were charged for the crab. Told the lady nicely that we never received the crab so would not pay for it. She told us that oh it is coming! Okay...why didn't you come over and tell us..or have one of the servers tell us? We tell her it is too late and we have to go. She asks us to wait 5 minutes for it and that it's cooking..STILL..does it take ONE HOUR to cook a crab and dress it with ginger and scallions? No. I don't think so. And I am not exaggerating because when we got to the car..we got a ticket for an expired meter which only had 1 hour on it but we were gone for 1.5 hours.

I still don't know if she forgot the order and rushed it or what! She asked us to come back and sit down and it would be out. In the time that we had this lengthy discussion with her about how we could NOT stay and eat because we were running late on the meter already and we can't take it to go because we will be in hot weather exploring SF the whole day...the crab STILL wasn't there..oh yea she even offered to pay for our meter..so maybe that makes up for it..but not for the ticket we ended up getting which perhaps we would have been able to avoid if it were not for the crab mishap.  Oh yea and because they were somewhat packed during lunch and all the small tables were taken..we were seated at a round table..then they kept on trying to seat strangers at our table..I felt uncomfortable!

Okay, sorry for the rant but it was so annoying and exhausting having to explain to her WHY we felt we didn't need to pay for this crab we didn't want anymore because of their poor kitchen timing/customer service.

BUT..I WOULD COME BACK!! Yes..I am a baby..I complain..but I can't resist their yummy dimsum!

WAY better quality ingredients than most places. Big chunks of fresh shrimp. Fresh meats. Nothing questionable. Not too oily. Perfectly cooked. Large variety. GREAT prices! $1.90. $2.50. $2.90. Typical chinese main dishes for family style sharing as well.

The bill only came out to $22 for 9 dishes!

SEE PICS!

I full on love the dim sum dishes at this restaurant!
It's much better than Tom Kiang, which is overpriced and overrated.
The service is a bit lacking at times and one does have to ask for water, but in the end it's all the about the food.

It's a pity they don't have dim sum carts, but they do have colorful menus which pretty much make ordering pretty simple. Remember service is bad so don't be afraid to just ask for everything. Water, more tea, napkins and if you must, don't be ashamed to ask for a fork...No one's judging...

The second stop on our Dim Sum Crawl was at Lucky Fortune, where we hoped our luck with Dim Sum ordering would kick in.

The hostess gave us a giant grin and pointed us in the direction of our table, which wouldn't you know it? Was in the far back corner, AGAIN! I think the Dim Sum motto must be "Put whitey in the corner so we don't have to deal with them."

With our new Dim Sum ordering knowledge we took the bull by the horns, or rather took the paper menu and pencil by the hand and started going to town.

Shrimp dumpling, oh ya! Two please

BBQ Pork Buns. Can I get a hell yes? Two please

Pork dumplings, and egg rolls, and pot stickers, oh my!

And to top it off sticky rice wrapped in some kind of leaf, fried tofu stuffed with shrimp, fried shrimp balls, another order of pork buns and mango pudding.

Holy Dim Sum Batman! The food was delicious, especially when doused with spoonful after spoonful of red chili sauce and sweet and sour.

The food was a hit, although I hear the sticky rice isn't going to be winning any sticky rice prizes anytime soon, but the rest of the eats were gobbled up in a nanosecond.

I was a little disappointed when our Jasmin tea wasn't refilled, therefor inducing a major food comma in all parties involved instead of the requisite caffeine high needed to keep crawling.

The staff was attentive and sweet and the price was right, more than right! $30 for 8 people to stuff themselves like Jared the Subway guy. Fuck a whole bunch of $13 egg plates at Ella's! I'm heading my cheap ass over to Dim Sum for Sunday breakfast/lunch/dinner.

I guess having only been to one dim-sum restaurant before this, and that being a not so fantastic experience, had me a bit worried when our clan walked in the door.  Again, the only white people in a sea of dim sum experts, I was a bit intimidated, but the second we sat down at our table (again in the back of the restaurant), and I saw the disco-sparkly lazy susan in the middle of the table, I knew that we were going to be much better off than before.

We quickly filled out our sheets...we knew what we were doing this time.  No gelatinous blob tarot stuff...oh no, we were going straight to the pork buns, the shrimp balls, the shrimp dumplings, the egg rolls, the heart shaped mango custard, and the list keeps going on.  The waitress asked if we were ready, and I quickly handed her our sheet, shocking her a bit.  "Oh!  You know what you are doing!"  Surprisingly, we had learned from experience, and were ready to show off our new found expertise.

Everything was awesome....and the biggest surprise was when Tim Sum (new nickname appropriately given at the table), picked up the check, and with a look of complete shock asked us to guess how much the check was. We had ordered twice as much food, and had 3 more people than the first place we ate, and the check was the same price!  I left there totally full, and bloated, and spent a whopping $7.  Awesome.  This experience however did have us cut our dim sum crawl down one restaurant, cuz the idea of more dim sum was just silly.  Ice cream.  Thats whats next.

before I write this review, i'd like to just say...i might be a bit biased to this place...i mean, you roll in with a crew of yelpers who are hungry as hell (see future reviews of the desert-not dessert- of dim sum- aka Parc Hong)- and you walk out with a new nickname.....good times.

Ok, the service here was super friendly- and even answered some of my whitey mcwhiteboy questions about the dim sum with a smile. Second, the dim sum was crazy, crazy tasty- i mean fried tofu with stuff (i can't remember the actual name)- tasty. Pork buns 3 ways? out of control. like explosions of supernovas of porkular goodness. seriously that good. Now if I can just get their dim sum cart to roll all the way to the inner sunset......

it's amazing how far $25 can go with Dim Sum. We had a fantastic breakfast/lunch here today. I have to say, some of the most friendly service. Polite, attentive, and fast.

Excellent pork buns, lotus wrapped rice, pork shu mai, and so much more! We had a couple of the "weekend/holiday" only kitchen specials, both good. I really liked the pork puff thing.

I wish they had more steamed dumpling offerings. We contemplated the meat balls, but didn't get them. The picture on the menu wasn't appetizing. They were a gray/green blob. We were seated at a large table, shared with another couple at the other end. They had the meat balls, and man-I wish we would of had them too!

The mango pudding was a little to sweet for me. I think I would have liked it more if it didn't have the sweet milk on top. And for the brave, I noticed a LOT of tripe orders going out. It smelled great.

Go, eat until you're about to vomit. Then go down to ocean beach and walk it off!

Crashed in the door with a band of ne'er-do-wells. A ship of fools. A slew of hungry lunatics. We were fully intent on eating this fine establishment clear out of fish, but fell a bit short, fortunately (you gotta leave room for Joe's ice cream afterwards).

Now, I hadn't eaten dim sum in about two years, so I can't speak for how this place stacks up to everywhere else in terms of food quality. But it was fairly crowded & everyone else seemed equally happy & the wait-staff were really friendly & it was CHEAP! We're talking bargaintown, here. Seven of us spent $6 each, which covered the entire meal plus tip. That's practically ludicrous!

Big props to Lucky Fortune.

I give this restaurant a one star. I agree with the other fellow who will never ear there again. I won't either and you shouldn't even try it.
The service was horrible rude, they did not even greet us to give us seats so we just sat down ourselves. This was a Thursday Night around 6:30 empty restaurant with only two tables.
The server never came back to clean any dish or take anything. Never even refilled tea. Was very rude when we were ordering. Then i got a plate seafood something with lettuce wrap and there were HAIR in the meat and i called the waiter over. He looked at it and said are you sure thats hair, then walked away... Then i told him to get his *** over here and take this shi*t away and he did. I told him i did not want it but he ignored and gave us another cooked one.. We did not touch that plate...
He then refused to serve us and told the other waitress to give us food. So when i got the bill from him in the front. I gave him a 1 cent tip and i made sure we made eye contact. Horrible restaurant. The hair part was disgusting but when the waiter did not even apologize it was over the line. I wish i could give 0 stars. Never again going back.
