Who says gourmet has to be stuffy? I love the fact that this place is a gourmet taco shop with a sense of humor. Top on my list is the veggie quesadilla. The portions are generous, the price is reasonable, and you get to sit on chairs with wrestling masks on them. Awesome.

I agree that if you're not familiar with the area parking can be a little annoying, especially if you go on the weekend, but I think it's worth it.

Last time we were in there, they said they were going to be getting their liquor license soon, which in my opinion is the only way they could improve their already great menu.

I walked in here ready to wrestle someone in a skin tight leather mask for my food. And I soon found out first hand (mouthful?) it totally would have been worth it. It's good and it'll make you want to finish everything. There are salsas for every wrestling mask stuffed into the cushion of each chair.

My only complaints, I think I got that last of that batch of fries in my California burrito. The menu explicitly stated that they would be fresh and they were not. And the location is horrible. I hear you can park in the lot on the east side of the building. Still the location is not within walking distance of me which is the only reason I wouldn't go back more than twice a week. But you better believe I'll be going back.

Oh yeah, and the prices are great.

Fun place, great food! You have got to go!
About the only bad thing I can say about this place is that parking was a headache. I think they have some parking spots in the rear, but I totally missed the entrance and had to park around the corner. The people are totally cool. The Lucha Libre theme is both nostalgic (my abuelita used to love Lucha Libre!) and hilarious and makes the place fun. They even have a "golden table" you can reserve in advance. You have to see it to believe it. Everything we ordered tasted great. The place got busy while we were there and service seemed to be slow. Go there to eat good food, hang out, and don't be in a hurry.

OK, you can't get much better than amazing tacos for the same price as a Starbucks latte. And two words: Cilantro Salsa. This stuff is so good, it goes quick! i've been to this place four times and they've only had this kind of salsa available two of those times. Their burritos are the size of newborn babies. so be careful. you might want to split it with someone.

Great decor (love me some luchadores) and excellent food at reasonable prices. I love the fact that they only use white cheeses (jack, panela, queso quesadilla) in their food. Only loses a star because they have a hard time with substitutions (I prefer my burritos w/o pico).

Still, the food is excellent, and you should reserve the champion's booth at least once...

Remember the old "Dance Fever" show? They used to rate the dancers on originality, execution, and showmanship. Well this tongue-in-cheek taco shop gets it right on all three (that's a perfect "100" for you old enough to remember)! Completely ridiculous fun decor based on, you guessed it, Mexican wrestling. Naugahyde chairs with masks sewn in, mini-dioramas, looped (or was it live?) wrestling on the tube, and a special table you can reserve with fancy place settings.

The food was a gourmet-ish spin on basic Mexican fare. I had the "holy moly" burrito, with a delicious mole sauce and queso panela (that stringy Mexican white cheese).

The salsa bar had some really original creations, like none I've ever had.

Voy a volver pronto, lucha libre!

Perhaps I wasn't drunk enough when I came here for the first time (not drunk at all, natch), but I sadly didn't appreciate the goodness of the TJ hotdog at Lucha Libre as much as I thought I would. The quality and taste of Lucha Libre's definitely beats out the versions I've had in LA, plus I don't have to worry as much about dying from poor sanitation as I would at the street-side stands... but I think that I've associated bacon-wrapped hotdogs with a very specific experience (being drunk in LA with my girls and popping outside for a hotdog or three), and Lucha Libre just can't compare.

Or maybe I was bitter because they wouldn't let me sit in the Champion's Booth. That might have been it, too.

Still, I can't hate too badly. My taco was da bomb, and I guess after all is said and done, so was the hotdog. Now, if they could just fix the parking situation around here, I might be tempted to give this place five stars.

Long flight in? Hungry since the single peanut they gave you on the flight was not filling enough, want to grab something quick and delicious near the airport?
Want a quick, good byte, cheap and fresh?
Have friends that like tacos but don't want to visit you south of the border?
Have fond memories (albeit a bit blurry) of tijuana street hotdogs but now that you are older you actually care a bit about health and hygene.

Then Lucha Libre is the place for you!

Super authentic tacos and burritos, huge portions, innovative decor, great salsas, and the super Kitch of the gold vinyl 'Champions Booth' (make reservations 24 Hrs in advance) is the perfect place for a stress free very light hearted first date...Every female friend I have taken here or has been there tells me that they would definetly enjoy a date here... as long as the guy was not dressed as a luchador...
Funny thing, I think i like this place more than my usual TJ taco haunts... only wish they had tacos de tripa and tacos de suadero... Oh well...

It's 10:30 a.m. and I've been at work for two hours, which means it's time for a break. So I pick up the Union-Tribune and become fascinated by what I read. Lucha Libre? TJ hot dogs? Intriguing! A quick e-mail to Nicole, my co-worker-in-crime, for her opinion:

"Oh my God, the TJ hot dogs are AMAZING. They're wrapped in bacon. We have to go," she says.

*scratches head* Hot dogs wrapped in bacon? *thinks* YUM!

"Dude, I could go for a bacon-wrapped ANYTHING right about now," I replied and sent.

And back to work we both go.

Well, Nic, you're reading it here first: I cheated on you and had my first TJ hot dog without you but if it's any consolation, it was utterly amazing.

The rumors are true: the salsa is incredible. I also tried the Champion's Nachos - so super fresh, so amazingly delicious.

This place rocks. Good food, great prices, awesome decor (I will sit in that gold booth next time!).

Believe the hype.  This is no ordinary taco shop, not by any stretch.

This tiny place is shamelessly guady and decorated with reckless abandon and that only adds to the experience.  Although I'm not a fan of pro wrestling, either north or south of the border, it is obvious that someone here is, and eating here and just looking at all of the decoarations is a bit of a mind twist.

On to the food.  The TJ hotdog was cooked perfectly and the toppings--and there are so many--were all delicious.  At $1.50 or so a pop, two of these would be a very nice and very affordable meal.  The queso taco (with steak) and and the tap out (chicken) were both absolutely delicious but, believe it or not, one taco is a meal and it shold be for 3 bucks or so.  And all of the many salsas on display were fresh and ridiculolusly good.

Next time, we will give the burritos a try.  And it's always a good sign when you want to return to try other items on the menu, just to see how damn good they may be.

Oh yes, as others have noted, unlimited horchata.  It's like heroin for some of us and reason enough to return.

I happen to agree with everyone here. After an "eh" experience at El Indio (not that my expectations were high), this place is much better. Their asada is good and they have a great selection. Plus it is hardly crowded for this small place. Love the ambiance too.

Down on Washington Street, a block east of Interstate 5 and next to Bar Dynamite sits a little taco shop called Lucha Libre. In former times it was a branch of Valentine's Mexican Food where my band mates and I would eat in ritualistic fashion after our Wednesday night practices. Sure the atmosphere there was, in a word, grungy, at least the Orange Bang/horchata/jamaica fountain usually worked. The food there was pretty good and although they didn't take cash, they had an often out of order ATM which forced you to walk to the liquor store two doors up. Oh yeah...and the aquarium was really cool...when it was clean and had fish in it...otherwise it was a gross slime canister.

In mid 2007, Valentine's closed and Your Favorite Band was sad. We bounced from eatery to eatery ranging from the great but early closing El Zarape, or the hot and tasty Woodstock's Pizza (also located in several other cities along the West Coast) to the very mediocre Santana's in Mission Hills. For weeks, months (years?) we waited for whatever new thing would be put in there. Signs of "coming soon" began to appear and the rumors of a lucha libre (that's Mexican wrestling to you, gringo) themed restaurant abounded.

Finally in late January 2008, Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop opened. The first thing that stood out about the place was the very obvious lucha libre theme. Luchador masks, posters and figurines are everywhere. There's a television showing luchador movies and even a "Champions Booth" with gold plush that you can sit in if you call 24 hours ahead of time. The bathrooms are also fantastic, graffiti free and a perfect fit to match the seating area. If you visit Lucha Libre make sure you go in both bathrooms!

Between the three guys in my band and our significant others, the entire menu at Lucha Libre has been consumed. I have to say that my personal favorite combination is the "TJ Hotdog" and a cheese quesadilla. The cheese quesadilla by itself has enough cheese in it to be a meal by itself, but I've found the TJ Hotdog, with it's mixture of hotdog wrapped in bacon, grilled onions, mustard, ketchup and mayo to be a nice side. Of course, a hungrier person might go for the "DDT Loaded Baked Potato" or "Champion's Fries" instead. Lucha Libre offers some of the typical taco shop favorites like California burritos and carne asada tacos. You can check out their menu here.

So if you're in San Diego and wants some Mexican with a gourmet twist, head down to 1810 West Washington Street to Lucha Libre. They can be found on Myspace or their website. If you're down on a Wednesday night after 10PM, there's a pretty good chance I'll be there with my band too.

A Lucha Libre themed taco shop? Oh yeah.

Le decor? Bright pink paint mixes well with the sewn masks of luchadores (Octagon was my fave) on zebra print chairs and "mascaras" hanging as you enter the restroom. The best part? The special gold booth in the corner. The cashier told me if you call 24 hrs. in advance, you can reserve the booth and receive full waiter service. Will the food cost more? Nope, you get the extra perks without the buck. Nice.

Le food? For about $6 I attempted to consume 5 monstrous rolled tacos, beans and rice. By taco #3 I needed to tap out and have someone else take over. It's hard to stop eating when they have the salsa of gods: CILANTRO SALSA. I don't know what's in that, but it's good...really good! If you eat nothing else, munch on cilantro salsa and chips. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed.

So my first trip was stellar! The second one? Not so much. When I ordered my rolled tacos, there was a distinct taste (and slight smell) of fish. Now for someone who doesn't like the taste of fish (ahem moi), it wasn't good. -1 star for breaking one of the cardinal rules of cooking: never EVER use the oil where fish was fried to make something else. Yes, recycle-reduce-reuse but taste should NEVER be compromised.

Ahem, cilantro salsa rocks!

A great place to eat that combines my love of burritos and wrestling.  A bit on the pricey side for a taco shop but well worth it for the food, the decor and the awesome staff.

Ordered a Surf and Turf burrito and a TJ hotdog.  Both were excellent and worth the price.  I'd like if they carried green Jarritos.

The champions table was a nice touch.  The TV playing Luchador action movies is one of the coolest things I've seen in a taco shop.

There's a box full of luchador masks behind the counter.  Ask and they'll tell you who wears the masks and let you take pictures wearing them.

I'm going back next time I'm in San Diego.

This is one cool place.  It's very fun inside, and people don't take themselves to seriously here.  I love taking friends here to hang, it's always a good time.

I've ordered the most of their tacos.  The queso tacos are a cheese lovers dream!  But I have to say, the flavors go up a couple of notches once you add the peach salsa.  But most of the stuff on their menu is pretty average.  It's hard, they've got some major competition.

Their salsa bar is by far, the best I've ever encountered.

Great decor: okay food.

My husband got a Tap Out taco, which he enjoyed immensely.  I had some unique flavours and a huge slice of avocado.

I had a bean and cheese burrito, which was not so great.  The cheese was unevenly distributed so I tasted only bland beans for most of the bits.

The meat items on the menu seemed really creative but as a vegetarian there was not a lot besides the boring basics.  The veggie burrito wasn't even Mexican-style, which I prefer (salsa fresca, beans, rice, lettuce, guac, etc).

The staff was helpful and the prices were great.

Been there twice and the first time was love. The cilantro salsa is a must and must say that I was disappointed when they didn't have it during my second visit. Other than that, the food is always good, service is great, and again..cilantro salsa. Get it! The TJ hotdog was delicious.

I finally got to come here last night after hearing all the hype on Yelp and on Channel 933 when Erin from CitySearch comes on every Thursday morning. I love the tacky decor... hot pink, zebra seats, a gold champion booth! I ordered the TJ hotdog, surf and turf taco and horchata. I was only able to eat my hotdog and one bite, seriously, only one bite, of my taco. I was beyond full at that point. I've been eating smaller portions more often so that's why I probably couldn't handle my order, but I would like to justify I got too full, too fast because I ate all the chips and finished a glass of horchata before my food even came out. Sorry, I got a bit off tangent, but needless to say, what I ate was pretty good. The Tj hotdog is not as good as the hotdogs off the carts in LA, bu then again, I'm usually quite a bit inebriated when I'm eating them in LA.

However, I love, love, love the variety of salsas they have. I didn't even know what were in some of them, but good nonetheless. I did leave the place leaving overly full and not feeling quite so well.. it was probably because that's the first greasy food I've had in a long time. I would like to come back and try some other items. The cashier, server, busboy guy was very nice.

The Cilantro Salsa says it all.  Not only is it good food, but the decor and just general feel of the place is incredible.  A taco shop themed in Luchador attire... NAACHHHOOOO Libre!

There were only two negatives:

1. The rice tasted like it had some type of cleaner in it... maybe it was an off night.
2.  The security guard working for the liquor store next door was way too much to handle.  The guy literally seemed like he was creating "situations" so he could "solve" them.  I am sure he is a nice guy... but lay off bro!  You are a rent a cop.

big hug, little hug, little kiss, big KISS...

Man, took some friends here the other day and it was not as good a dining experience as before.  I had the surf and turf with a TJ dog and the taco was just OK.  Felt I got a little skimped on the shrimp and they were over cooked and tough with little flavor.  Given the price I can deal though.

What wasn't impressive was my buddy's girlfriend's rolled tacos.  Rolled tacos seemed easy enough.  Well, she didn't eat much so I asked if I could try one.  It tasted like honest to God FISH of all things.  I thought I knew what the problem was- they cooked the rolled tacos in the same oil that they cooked the fried fish fillets in.  Cardinal sin guys and VERY lazy in my book.  I then checked the menu and realized that they don't have fried fish on the menu!  So much for my Columbo detective work.  Looks like good ol' RANCID cooking oil to me.  YUCK!  I would have said something but there were a bunch of patrons at the front ordering and I didn't want to be too much of an asshole.

I still like this place, but honestly...  A beef rolled taco tasting like cod is NOT an appetizing thing.  I hope this was just an isolated incident and some lacky poured bunk oil in the fryer by mistake.  Maybe next time I'll just stick with the TJ dog for $1.50, IF I come back here.  Sorry Lucha Libre, but not an impressive show this time out and a borderline deal breaker...

Decent food (better than decent salsa selection), and great job with a catchy theme, but it's just a taco shop. I tried the TJ dog, sampled my wife's rolled tacos, and we split a carne asada quesadilla. All of it was good, but none of it made us sit down and calendar our next visit.

Clever theme might help them stay afloat in a really terrible location.

So after hearing for weeks that this place boasts the best burritos in town we finally checked it out after picking up friends from the airport. I'm happy to report that the group uninanimously agreed that this place is awesome for many reasons. Allow me to expand on a few of those reasons:

1. Its cheap. Seriously, you can't beat dinner for less than five bucks. Granted, I generally don't eat huge meals, but the potato rolled tacos, some shared chips and salsa and a soda filled me up for under a fiver.

2. Its good. Other items ordered included the Holy Moly burrito, the beef rolled tacos, and a been and cheese burrito customized con pollo. All were consumed in their entirety and thoroughly enjoyed. And the salsa selection was que bueno.

3. Its got ambiance. Luchador decor, pink walls, and zebra print chairs. What, that's not enough for you? How about if I throw in some extra eye candy such as a pair of flip flops hanging on the wall disguised as a luchador mask? A sparkly gold "champions booth" available by reservation? How about something interactive, say a portable thumb wrestling ring?

The bottom line is, the food is yummy, the staff is super friendly and Mama Testa has a serious rival in the supergood Mexi place with character arena. I wonder what the throwdown would be like: The Mama Testa luchador vs. the Lucha Libre Taco Shop luchador... As long as the Lucha Libre Taco Shop doesn't go the route of Mama Testa's and convert to a sit-down-and-I'll-take-your-order kinda place, I think they'll have an upper hand.

My friends showed me this place over the weekend. It was quit interesting. It's decoed as a mexican wrestling arean. With almost everything related. It has posters, small prints, TV showing wrestling movies and even the bathroom signs are displaced with wrestling masks.

The food was not bad either. It tends to be a bit more expensives than any south bay taco shops. However, for its the funny/interesting decor, i would pay for the difference.

CILANTRO SALSA. That's all I have to say.  Go there specifically for that! I swear it's that good.

My fave is the Tap Out (Chicken taco with peppers, avocado, and a yummy creamy green sauce), my boyfriend is in love with the Surf and Turf Burrito.  I also like the Enchiladas Verde, but I usually can't eat it all.   I've never tried their rolled potato tacos, but a friend tells me they're the bomb.

Great food, affordable, and original (and amusing) decor.  Not to mention HUGE portions. On a normal day I can eat just one Tap Out and be full.  If I'm super hungry I'll add rice and beans.  Oh, and they have REAL mexican Cokes there for those who like them (I'm not a big fan, but I know many who are).

But seriously, back to my main point.  You need to go there for the cilantro salsa.

Last night we visited Lucha Libre Taco Shop. This place is like no other taco shop in San Diego. A taco shop themed after Mexican Wrestling... awesome! Yes, the decor is hilarious but the food is amazing as well. We went with our neighbors and tried the nachos, potato rolled tacos, Veg Out burrito, a veggie quesadilla, street style tacos, and the good ol' bean and cheese burrito. Everything was delicious. Seems like they have a good juke box selection and a screen up on the wall plays Mexican wrestling movies from the '70's. Awesome. Check it out!

I went here based on a spurious mention in our Mexico thread name-checking Tijuana-style bacon-wrapped hot dogs.  I haven't had one in over 10 years by my estimation and that's probably been a good thing.

Lucha Libre is best described as a taco shop with a decor inspired by someone's intense fascination with the masked Mexican wrestling experience.  This is not as bad as you think.  No crazed psycho named Machine will leap out and kill you for a snuff film like in that Nicholas Cage movie, "8mm".  Rather, the shop is filled with wrestling posters and memorabilia celebrating the fine tradition of these masked masters of the squared circle...  The Luchadores, from Parts Unknown, no doubt.

The crown jewel or rather the "Undisputed Champion of the World in Lucha Libre Land" is definitely the "Champions Booth" which with the simple reservation of 24 hours time will get you table service, your food served on fine china, your beverages in glimmering golden goblets and the finest seat in the house in which to view the Lucha films constantly playing on the TV.  I think I just missed out on seeing someone about to be seated there because they were tidying it up and making it ready for the next crafty ring veteran to leap over its top ropes.

Ah, such is life.  The travails, the sadness, the unbearably French existential pathos of it all.  I belch lustily in their general direction.

Anyway, back on track.  What I went there specifically for was the infamous "TJ Hotdog" or the gustatory delight 2nd most commonly used to soak up the tequila in your belly while "visiting" Ave. Revolucion during your internment @SDSU.

My meal consisted of some fresh tortilla chips offered gratis by the friendly cashier, a healthy sampling of their salsa from the cart, the aforementioned TJ Hotdogs... and the obligatory Diet Coke.  They have a pretty good variety of items to choose from as seen on their menu here: http://tacosmackdown.c...  but I was on a mission, like the A-Team, only I was alone.

My TJ Hotdogs arrived soft of bun, bacon-wrapped and slightly crisp to the teeth, covered in condiments, grilled onions and some slices of bell pepper.  This is not a meal for the weak, the faint of heart, or even a man in the late stages of metro-sexuality.  This is the grub of the Luchadore!  A man skilled in the many ways of making you squeal for mercy as he crushes the very life out of you betwixt his manly spandex sheathed thighs!  I'm halfway surprised they didn't demand that I show them my "War-face" before they allowed me to pick-up my food.  I highly recommend the judicious application of some of their pineapple salsa on your hot dogs.  The sweet note of pineapple goes well with the bacon.

The folks there are really nice and the cashier fairly beamed at me when I asked if I could buy one of their T-shirts which proudly proclaims their demand to "Face Punch Your Taste Buds".  No doubt it will become the talk of your next formal soiree as Chas & Buffy golf-clap your rebellious nature.

Anyway, Lucha Libre was all I expected it to be.  Not quite 5 stars but oh so tantalizingly close.  The only thing that I dinged them on was that it took just a little longer than I thought to get my food to me.  Of course, I was on the verge of starvation at the time but even so it was just slightly long enough to be disconcerting.

I gave Lucha Libre another shot today and all I gotta say is "Holy Moly"! Their chicken mole burrito (called the Holy Moly) is awesome.

An extra star for that alone.

tap me!!!

i love the luchador experience. i think the guy who takes your  food orders/cleans the tables/brings you your food once the bell rings/etc. is one when the night falls. that fool was running the whole place without a sweat! i lie, he did have a little rag on his shoulders at one point, so maybe he was glistening. but still, talent.

i was only disappointed b.c the champions seating spot was already taken. other than that, the place is cool. sitting on luchador masks and zebra print while enjoying a nice meal is never a bad thing.

i can't really judge their mexican food b.c i had their version of dirty dogs. good stuff. i like the grilled onions and bell peppers. la just supplies you with onions, but their wieners are twice the size. sometimes size does matter! but for a buck fifty, i'll order two of these and have the same fill as one dirty dog from the street vendors of the city of lost angels, which runs you about four. i like that this place won't "pack up and run" when the cops roll around the corner. and this place gives you free chips along with your meal, score!!! they've got an array of salsas to dip your chips in, and they're pretty damn tasty.

i just wanna give props for the fool who thought, let me wrap this hot dog with bacon, and then cook it. motha fcuking genius!!!

I love this place.  You can thumb wrestle for a prize (one of the cashiers sucks at this sport of champions, makes me feel agro bro powerful). You can reserve the golden booth and dine like royalty.  Actually the golden booth is my dream first date.

The salsa bar is amazing.  The decor is so stylized it crosses the border (zing!) from tacky into genius.  The staff is unpretentious and lose graciously.

Oh and the food, its tasty, but I'm in such a great mood by the time it comes, I wouldn't care if it was mediocre.

two words - authentic and cool

The decor is tacky and super cheesy, but works just fine.

I had two of the gourmet tacos, the cheese and carne asada and the surf and turf and both were excellent.

The salsas are really good too.

Will be back again.

Lucha Libre translates to "free fighting" en espanol (read: the Mexican version of WWF) and as such the walls of this gourmet taco shop are plastered with pictures of the colorful masked wrestlers.

Do not miss the Surf & Turf Taco - Marinated Steak, Shrimp, & Avocado Slices, Smothered in a Special Sauce - for just $3.25. Can't comment on the TJ hot dog, as I couldn't quite stomach a bacon wrapped dog before noon, but for folks looking for one, they've got 'em here!

And if you're looking for a really special experience, call 24 hours in advance to reserve the "Champion's Corner" which is a special table roped off from the rest of the place and decked out in gold.

Stars... 3.5

So I went to Lucha Libre yesterday from the airport and really wasn't impressed. I ordered the fried cheese taco with carne asada (recommended from another yelpster) and a street dog without mayo.

The cheese tasted "dirty" -- I think they may have to change the oil, the carne asada was chewy and dry and lacked the flavor I love so much when eating carne asada. The special sauce was just sauce... not memorable. Meh... if I had to eat here again, I'd try something different or I'd give them one more chance on the carne asada -- not the fried queso though... grossed me out. It wasn't anything like home.

Now the street hot dog I enjoyed -- truly enjoyed especially the cost. I think next time I will ask for avocados on top! Yeah, these babies are pretty damn good. Simply.

The cost is good for the amount of food and since they do give you free chips and salsa -- and free refills.

The salsa bar enjoyed the different flavors and spices -- however didn't really care for the pico de gallo... too sweet, but that is my opinion.. I like much more cilantro, oregano, and onion's... And don't forget the lime!

I did enjoy the set up... kept your eyes busy while waiting.

So maybe I will give it another try... but only if I am in the neighborhood -- probably wouldn't drive there just for the food.

This joint is the motherfuckin' jam!

I love the whole idea of this place.  Mexican Wrestling.  Great sense of humor (who could forget the two clocks behind the register).  Amazing decor.  Kickass bathroom.  This place is all awesome without any of the lame!

Of course, the food is great here, too.  I greatly appreciate the affordability and the inventiveness of the food.  Most of all, access to dollar fifty bacon wrapped hot dogs is key!  I can just come here and order 3 and I'm good to go for the next few days!  Salsa bar is fantastic (pineapple salsa, hurray!)

So, yeah, cheers and beers to this magnificent and original addition to the San Diego eating scene!

TJ hotdog, definitely.

Sit at the champions table for the full experience.

I visited this place on the way back from the airport at 8:30pm on a Sunday evening, the time when most restaurants are closed and even those that are open are usually empty. However, there was a line for food!

The appeal of the place are the unique themed wrestling settings and the cheap yet good Mexican food. Oh, the staff were quite friendly as well. Will visit again.

At first glance this place looks really cool. I really liked the photos on the wall of the luchadores. The chairs were cool and the artwork on the wall was interesting. The food on the other hand was not very good. I had the Pollo Asado taco, rice, beans and 3 rolled potatoe tacos which were pretty tasty. However, the Pollo Asado was bland and the rice wasn't very tasty. My wife had the Carne Asada fries and they were downright awful. I'm surprised the food was so blehh after reading all of the great reviews on here. Maybe they just had a bad day..

If I was liberal Lucha Libre would get 5 stars!
I'm tough though, but don't let that give you the impression this place isn't great! I don't know what would earn 5 stars from me, but that's because I haven't experienced it yet ;-)

Anyways, this place is right around the corner from me, I love visiting especially late nights on the weekends.

Great tacos, fairly priced, very courteous staff, several selections of delectable salsa's, usually an interesting group of customers to keep you entertained - as if the mexican wrestler theme isn't enough to do that.

I'm no mexican wrestler fan, but this isn't over the top in my opinion. It's a fun, delicious place!

Only downside is all the smokers outside from Club Dynamite... but hey, if you smoke; eat then chat it up with one of the many interesting guys out front... I only say that because I think I've seen a whole 3 girls near that sword infested bar. (a later review since I haven't been there in 5 years to follow)

We ventured over to this place to have their rolled potato tacos, smothered in guacamole, salsa and fresh cheese. The tacos itself were very tasty. The dining experience is an elaborate shrine to the Luchadors of days gone by. From photos, murals, to chair covers, and even your very own champions table(please call 24 hours in advance for reservation), this place exudes character. &n
