This place had a nice little omlete(western) toast for $5
Can't really beat that in NYC -

This is the best diner food in the zip code. For that, it gets five stars. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, under 20 mins for delivery. Cheap. Good, kind service, and if you come frequently enough, they'll just remember you and bring your food without waiting for you to order. The price is always different, but it's always inexpensive and ranges in a $1.50 band, so who cares?
In reality, diner food caps out at about three stars, so consider the five star rating I've given a three relative to other, more upscale restaurants.
If you go here expecting anything better than diner food and are disappointed, then that's your own fault.
Recommend the burger (medium rare), the Irish breakfast, and the egg sandwiches. Also, the fresh-squeezed OJ is good (and I'm a Floridian by origin). -

not the healthiest dish, but the grilled cheese with bacon is delicious. bacon was perfectly crispy. totally worth the calories.

Operating on a miserly five hours of sleep from a Saturday's full schedule of fulfilling fun with Chinese Cantonese and Mandarin classes to awaken on a Sunday morning to be one with God, I needed to be redeem from a hunger salvation. A diner that appears old school that sits in Stuyvesant Town, but one with a high unfathomably nasty attitude index.
The server or possibly manager was unwillingly with an unfathomably nasty, grumpy attitude index to take my order and it was like pulling teeth grinding to receive my correct change. AYIA, is one egg with cheese on a bread roll at $3.80 require a Ph.D. to prepare?!? He visibly complained with this unfathomably nasty, grumpy attitude to his staff for a continuous request for change in the register's draw. The possible manager with immense curtness directed me with such abrasive content snub: "give me the $20.00 OKAY!"
The egg fell apart in numerous pieces for I requested scrambled but got sunny-side up. There are tons of better diners and coffee shops with better quality food and service without attitude... NOT Lower East Side Coffee Shop! Incompetent to fulfill the palette on every level. -

This is your typical diner food right on 14th street. It's close to the L train so it's really convenient for a quick stop for a bite. This is your average diner with average inexpensive food. Eggs, meat, hash browns, and toast won't set you back more than $5. My friend had an omelet and he really liked it! But there are so many better places to grab a quick bite to eat around here and would only come here if i needed something really fast, really filling, and really cheap.

This place stinks. The breakfast was cheap, but totally meh.
Protip: if you open a food place in NYC when you don't care about what you serve, you won't fool anybody.
It's a shame that a diner so close to my apartment, with such a beckoning storefront, sucks so much. -

Good little hole-in-the-wall diner with a decent breakfast/brunch. Doesn't look like much from the outside but has really good food. I am sure the new IHOP will hurt their business, but this place is better than an IHOP to me. And it's open 24 hours.

Sir, there's a fly in my soup. Well actually, more like a fly in my coffee (It was actually in my milk, but either way, it was unsettling). You'd think that an establishment that calls itself the "Coffee Shop" would know how to make decent coffee.
Other than their coffee, this place offers decent food for a more than decent price. Belgium waffles with a side of sausage links and eggs. Quite frankly, there wasn't much I could complain about, especially when their prices are such steals.
Next time you feel like sitting down for a quick breakfast, and just so happen to pass by this place, but don't have enough money for fancy breakfast and don't feel like eating at the McDonalds two blocks down, you should definitely consider dining at The Lower East Side Coffee Shop. -

The menu as a whole is just simply ok-nothing particularly special. The prices are reasonably cheap with the food you get. I typically order the tuna-melt here for delivery and i love how they toast the bagel for a crispy and crunchy texture. Their wings are really cheap and pretty decent. It is slightly greasy and small but still good. Their smoothies are inconsistent. Every time I order their smoothies, it's always mixed reviews. Maybe they don't always have fresh fruits?

they use to be better. don't order the buffalo chicken wings, they coat them in a spicy tomato sauce - gross.

I ordered from this place because I was unable to get out of bed on New Year's Day. They were one of the maybe 5 options that would deliver, and the only realistic one.
For reasons unknown, I ordered a turkey club. In case you don't know what that is: a triple decker sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato.
It failed on every level. It had completely fallen apart by the time it arrived. The bread was both soggy and stale, at once. The lettuce and tomato were limp and sad. The turkey was tasteless and dry. But the bacon...the bacon was truly depressing.
The person who prepared this sandwich ruthlessly ripped all the flavor out of this bacon (no small feat), and gave it an inedible texture. It was uncooked in places, but still hard, as though it had been sitting out for days.
I always finish my food, but I was unable to eat even half of this sandwich.
I was not alone; my roommate, his girlfriend, and the Guy On the Couch* were all disappointed by the food as well. If the curly fries had not been great, I would have become violent.
And why is the Lower East Side Coffee Shop not in the Lower East Side?

The service is poor but the food is decent especially for the price. Everything tasted really.fresh. My mom had the french toast &sausage. The french.toast wasnt cooked enough for me because it had that soft of wet center.but my.mom liked it. I had a western omellete which.comes with home fries, toast and coffee. It was pretty good and for $5.45 you cant beat it.

This is a below average diner. Considering the prices are fairly cheap, you get what you pay for. It never really gets packed, maybe during breakfast time on the weekends. The fruit juices are not fresh, instead they're like bad concentrate. On a brighter note, it is open 4 hours and the servers are very polite.

I like diners for the reason that I know precisely what I'll be getting. The decor's going to be good and corny, the seating's got to have the plastic-plush familiarity of the mid-90's, and they've got to serve me milk shakes, pasta primavera, and pancakes every day of the week when I get my sugar and starch craving, circa 3:30AM.
So, three stars for the geographically challenged LES Coffee Shop, for getting all the basics down. An extra star, for being extra cheap - when my cheesy fries and scramble come to $7 and shrapnel, I know I've found a winner. -

The perfect place to get pie after a movie.
I love how reviewers feel the need to harp on the name of the restaurant, NEWSFLASH: it has been around since New Yorkers were calling 14th street and Ave A the LOWER EAST SIDE.
All that aside, the food is great for a diner, and the service is pretty quick.
Any time of day is a good time for pie- this diner is open late!Listed in: My hunch for brunch

After waking up one Friday morning, for some reason all we could talk about was broccoli. Broccoli and cheese.
So we go to get brunch at Coffee Shop, and, wouldn't you know, all three of us get a broccoli omelet.
It was OK. The eggs were kind of hard and dry, but the broccoli was good. The potatoes are also excellent means of transport for ketchup, though on their own pretty flavorless.
It's fine for some cheap brunch, but next time maybe I'll try some fried eggs. -

Coffee Shop is formerly known as Burger Gyro Express. It is usually filled with Stuyvesant Town tenants.
This is a great place to come to after a night in the town. It is not the best food in the world, but it is a diner, and at 4AM it tastes amazing.
They have really good fries, and if you ask nicely enough they can make you pizza fries- with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese (delicious!!!!). Their waffles are good as well, I've also had their burger (they have lots of varieties of burgers), and chicken fingers are good too.
Back in the Burger Gyro days, they made a mean gyro, I haven't tried it recently but I would assume it hasn't changed much.
The people who work here are pretty nice and acomodating, also very patient since 20 something year olds can be pretty obnoxious at 4 in the morning.Listed in: Tasty food at 4AM

Do you want to know who has great Chocolate shakes?
YOU DO?!?!
Coffee Shop, that's who!
This is a great go to place, especially if you are in the vicinity of Sty Town. Now if you are looking for a gourmet meal, you are not going to find it here. It is a diner, not a delivery place... not a "coffee shop" (although I agree the name can mislead). Going here and saying the food you got was under par is like going to a dive bar and saying the ridiculous martini you ordered is bad. Duh...
Stick with the basics, the waffle with fresh blueberries on it looks yummy. The burgers are burgers, the fries are fries, and the shakes are MMMMMMM.....
Service is great and the prices are cheap. -

I got a free coffee here from Tenka. It was great coffee and the guy who served it was pretty friendly - especially considering that I wasn't buying anything.

Their Breakfast food (a.k.a. Omelettes and Waffles) are pretty decent and not a bad way to go for the price; everything else is mediocre. When you go here, they don't even serve their tea or coffee hot; the serve it luke warm which got my barely english speaking server annoyed when I asked him if it was possible to warm it up a bit. I relish the delivery experience more because their service isn't that great; but when you're drunk and your stumbling back from Blind Pig and were silly enough not to eat at Blind Pig; you can go here, get some breakfast food and stumble back to your humble abode.
I repeat; breakfast food only. Can't say I didn't warn you. Well you can, but you'd be lying and I don't like liars. -

I don't enjoy writing one star reviews but this one needs it! WORST PLACE EVER. I came here late Wednesday night after picking up my friend from JFK. We were both craving a Texan burger. My favorite junk food if you haven't noticed.....
Our server, probably didnt speak a word of English. All he did was take our order and nod his head after everything. The ONE cook they had in the small place, looked like he didn't know how to cook. He was flipping the burgers over and over while we watched.. Keep in mind, we ordered MEDIUM.
First time it came out to us, we both tried a bite, and it was hard as a rock. I mean OVERCOOKED.. like more than well done. It was chalky and gross. So we decided to ask for medium rare to see if they could fix it.... again.. wrong.. medium rare came out RARE it was dripping blood, the bun was red and soaked on the bottom. Gross right?
The whole time we asked for our food to be fixed, the manager, who looked like he could of helped us, never even gave us one look or gave us any attention.
Finally we were fed up and we just asked for our bill and refused to even pay for such horrible service. Luckily we were able to get the burgers taken off the bill, and we just used our money to go somewhere else uptown.
Never again. Its not worth it. -

Most diners in NYC seem to be about the same. You know that you are going to get mediocre cheap food fast and without a major hassle. The menu is almost always the same as is the service. It's not exactly some special amazing experience but you keep going to diners for the comfort.
The thing that makes Coffee Shop special is that it is the closest diner for me to roll out of bed to or stop by on a late night.
The owner is a Greek guy (we can sense our kind) but not exactly the super friendly type.
I have had an omelette here as well as some other dishes that were eeeh ok. I did enjoy my roast beef sandwich here when I came another time but I was under the influence of alcohol so my judgement may or may not have been skewed. Onthe bright side there are curly fries and its pretty hard to screw up curly fries.
All in all it's nothing spectacular but I'll probably be there again soon the next time a diner loving friend comes into town for another mediocre meal and sometimes that's ok. -

Can't complain about having a 24-hour diner right across the street from where I live. Pretty much everything you'd expect from a diner is on the menu, and some items are better than others. Great for late-night food or coffee and breakfast in the morning.

This place has classic diner food - very predictable and very reasonable prices. We've been looking for a cheap place to eat a good, hot breakfast with plenty of coffee refills (instead of the $15 brunch deals with morning cocktails that are all over the city). This is it!! The service is very friendly, and the food is always fresh and hot. I love the eggs/hashbrowns/toast breakfast combos. We've also enjoyed late-night dessert here, though the breakfast is the reason to go!

I really like the night guy. I'm an order-in person tho'.
Quick to the chase: They have never not screwed up an order.
That being said, if you are short on paper napkins this is a good place to order from. They may forget your sides, but you can absolutely be guaranteed an easy lb. of little cheap napkins. And salts and peppers and sporks... Every time.
The burgers suck. The chili sucks. The corned beef hash sucks.
Except for the next item they are too expensive for what you get.
They make a good chicken souvlaki and a good tazicki. (sp) Value for the price there, but then only if you have high stress tolerance and don't mind 30 minutes of recycling for a gyro. Even a "regular" coffee (Milk and sugar) comes in two containers and 87 sugar packets. Get that with chicken in pita and you'll be bagging disposables for days if you ever get to eat.
They make a good matzoh ball but in 4 oz. of broth (no other options) it is not a "deal."
Everything comes with french fries which is okay if you like french fries; I don't. I guess they'd substitute if they had any substitutes.
Love you Yani but it is what it is.
Damn shame. -

I thought this place was ok. Very on par for a coffee shop in the conventional sense of the term. It had the expected greasy food. The matzo ball soup was uninspiring and my sandwich was just ok as well. The egg cream soda pretty good though. The good part about this place is it was the cheapest place I found to eat in NY and a good location. I vowed to eat here based on price each morning of my trip, but really it wasn't worth passing up some better places to go here.

In a hectic place like nyc, this place provides a nice counter ambience to the city. Food is standard, service generally very good, and price points are more than fair. We have only done breakfast here.

BEST BURGER!!!
I haven't really delved in to the rest of the menu but by far the best under $8 dollar juicy, tasty burger with cheese!
Highly recommend. -

Came here two mornings in a row while visiting NY because the breakfast and service was great...plus they had FIFA on. Their whole-wheat pancakes are delicious and light, the regular ones as well, and their Spanish omelet was delicious. Can't really say much about the rest of the menu. Both servers were very friendly and if you come before 11am, the breakfast menu is quite cheap.
