Dr. Jobie Low is the best and nicest dentist in San Francisco. THERE. I've said it. I have THOUGHT it for many years.
First of all, I have always HATED dentists. In the past, I have always quietly wimpered as I approached their dreaded office. Not the case any more.
I have been to MANY dentists in SF but my search has ended. Dr. Low is kind, ethical, intelligent and highly skilled. I have the lowest thresh hold for pain of anyone in the universe. Dr. Low does not hurt me. He is very sympathetic to my anxiety. What more can you ask?
I doubt that anyone LIKES to go to the dentist but this guy makes it as pleasant as possible. I have even had 2 root canals here.
His office is on West Portal Ave, upstairs from Noah's Bagels.
Dr. Jobie Low is a excellent Dentist. I've been coming to him for probably 10 years now I've never had a bad experience with him and his staff. He makes you feel comfortable when you are there and always seems to know what to talk about with you so there is no uncomfortable silence. I saw him recently and was pleasantly surprised that they have new X Ray film that is not the painful kind that used to hurt the gums. Seems kinda trivial but man that was the one thing i hated about seeing the dentist haha. If you are looking for a great dentist you must see Dr. Low.
I've been coming here for a few years after switching from a crazy Russian lady dentist. I came here on Monday for teeth cleaning and x-rays, the only good thing I can say is that x-rays aren't painful and doesn't hurt under my tongue. Umm...the weird thing is that I've never had a filling here, I've had more at other places. I wonder if I'm maintaining my teeth better, or they're just too lazy to fill anything, but I think if I really did have a filling, they'd give it to me so they can take my $$$. Oh yeah, my insurance doesn't fully cover my checkup anymore UGHH
I'll be back in 6 months. I hardly ever go to the doctors, but I always go to the dentist, maybe it's because they have me a 6 month plan.

I just started with Dr. Low about a year ago, and I have to tell you guys that he is the nicest person on earth. So i'm walking on West Portal trying to find his office, and guess what? It's like hidden between two buildings (sort of) and you walk up these stairs. I open his office door, and man is it hot and stuffy, but maybe it was just me. The assistances were really nice too me and returned many smiles. Then I get called in and waited for Dr. Low for only like two minutes (it took a long time for my other dentist to come to me). Yes, it does hurt when he is cleaning your teeth, but its because we don't brush well enough. He talks to you and entertains you while he is scraping all the crap out of your mouth so you get kind of distracted from the pain. The also gave me free samples of floss and stuff, and told me what I should do to keep my teeth clean. Well, this whole routine may sound normal to everyone, but damn, he is so much better than my previous dentist! Thats all I can say. And come on, there are so many stores that you can shop at afterwards !!
