I was searching to no avail for second hand baby items to complete my nursury until, I was refered to Lovely Bump by an employee at the Salvation Army. I was greeted in a very friendly fashion by the owner, Beth on entering. She was very helpful with suggestions and helping me to find the items, I needed. The items, I bought were next to new and I spent $27 for the 2 together. I would have spent $75 had, I purchased them new. I am very impressed and I will definitely be going back there. Everything was more than reasonably priced.

This woman is bi-polar and needs medication, so she'll stop acting like two different people. She had the nerve to say, "hello" to me at our kids school. Instead, she should have apologized for her greedy and evil behavior to me and obviously others who have been dedicated shoppers of her store. She is so rude and snarky.

My house was being taken over by baby clothes. I needed to sell them, and found this store online. I called and was told I needed an appointment. I made an appointment......7 weeks later, that's when I could be fit in.

So i went in at my appointment time. The owner was meeting with her accountant and ignored me for few minutes, finally she said hello and asked me to wait for a minute. A minute turned into 15 minutes. What the heck was the point of an APPOINTMENT??

I went in with 6 bags of clothes. She handed me back 2 bags and said she knew she wouldn't use those clothes.  She slowly went through the other bags while talking loudly to her accountant.  Annoying to sat the least.  After about 35 minutes I got my 'credit'.

I returned to the store to use my credit and the same woman was there. She was again rude. Speaking loudly on the phone with a friend. She continued to talk about someones new job and their low salary. Very personal conversation, one I didn't care to hear.

Overall, the owner is rude and the items are not as great as other secondhand stores.

    Won't shop/trade there again.

I stumbled on this place not knowing what to expect and boy did I like what I saw and got.  They have soo much goodies for expectant mothers, newborns, toddlers and everything in between. I try to go atleast 3 times a months since I do not live in the area.

There are not too many used kids' clothing stores, so I am thankful for one.  The selection is not spectacular, but the prices are great.  How can you beat $2 for T-shirts or pants?  Kids outgrow clothes so quickly, so I really do not want to pay retail prices all the time.  I've gotten a few items here and have been pretty happy.

It is a small business.  If you come with low expectations, you will walk away pleased with an unexpected find.  If you come with high expectations, well, then you should probably adjust your expectations.

1 star off: poor selection of everything else (furniture, books, toys, etc.)

I stopped in here with a large bag of designer maternity clothes (Paige denim, Japanese weekend, Michal Stars, etc.).  I was told that I needed an appointment , though there were no other customers.   The woman told me as they "don't use computers" at the store, it would take too long to go through my bag.

    Um, OK.

The woman then asked me if I shopped at second hand stores very often.  When I replied no, she changed her tone to snarky and muttered that Lovely Bump has a policy of giving credits that are only good for 30 days.  She explained that her best customers are those who love second hand, ie., they are there all the time.

Such a strange attitude for a store with almost no maternity clothes, but for a couple of cheap, low quality button downs from Motherhood and Target.

Great second-hand and boutique store.  Excellent prices.  Babies grow.  I'd hate to waste money on crap they will grow out of in 2 weeks.  It goes that fast.  And they grow that big.  This place provides an outlet for everyone to maximize use of baby items.

If you've been reading your ad-thickened version of parenting magazine, and have an urge to follow what they've told you, go ahead and buy all your baby accessories that you "need" to have.  Then you can shove all your cosleepers, MacLaren strollers, and noise machines into your Honda Oddessy and drive into your 3 car garage.  Once you get out of the car and set your kid down, don't be surprised if you they are most interested in an empty bottle...or an empty cereal box, and prefers the comfort of a simple white onesie.  All while some rich child-less bastard is relishing in his victory.

This place is so awesome! The clothing there is in really great condition, and its at a great price! We are expecting twins, and so buying clothing (especially little onesies) really adds up. We bought like over 30 things (onesies, socks, hats) for just a little over 40 bucks! You are not going to find that anywhere else. And some of it is name brand stuff. I got like 10 items that are from the Gap.

A must go! they sell gear there too!

    UPDATE:

The prices seem a bit lower now.  But all around, the quality in clothing is lacking.  A while ago, the selection was better (better names/overall quality).

Stay away from the shoes & leggings though.  Many of the shoes are very dirty & seriously worn down.  Definitively not healthy for little feet!  the leggings are also worn, although the sign says that they are in good condition.

LB  is still the place to go for the occasional wardrobe addition, book or toy.

I was there yesterday with my baby and found the store very pleasant. I bought 4 onsies and 4 shorts for about $13 after taxes and small bag fee. I'm happy with that. The items were in good condition and smelled nice too. I usually hate the smell of secondhand stores but this little shop didn't have that problem.

I went to LB today after getting coffee with the SBMC . . . I brought my newborn in a sling and walked around for a bit while the owner was busy taking in items from a family.

I please to see that the used items we like new and some new items were just so cute.

My daughter started to fuss and Beth (the owner) told me I was welcome to use the rocking chair to nurse her, she helped me turn it from the door and I did so. Then I need to change her (but thinking I would only be a few minutes didn't bring my diaper bag - dumb!) and noticed there was a changing table and diapers!!! I asked if I could use one and she said of course!

I bought a cute organic cotton outfit that was hand decorated on the shirt . . . it was priced as 2 separate pieces by accident so she gave it to me for 4 dollars cheaper! And I got 2 sleeping nursing bras for 12 buxs! Much cheaper than online!

The store would be hard to navigate a stroller thru but that is mainly b/c she has great items in there!

I am excited to bring in some Maternity clothes for resale

1/ 09 EDIT: I have now been the store half a million times. I LOVE it, always something for a cheaper price than BRU. As for reviews about it being overpriced . . . I disagree. And if an item is high, I ask her if it has been there for along and if it lower now. BIG items like cribs, stroller are on consignment and drop in price every certain amount of days. Ask!

By far the cheapest and friendliest maternity/baby store I have been to since my wife got pregnant.  The used clothing is in excellent condition and very very inexpensive.

A little out of the way but so worth it.  Besides, they are so nice here, you want to give them your money.

Stopped by today in search of a booster seat that straps onto another chair, a walker, zip hoodies, and toys. I wasn't able to find any suitable toys but I did find not one but two booster seats that were about $15 each, a walker marked down for $18, a cute zip-up hoodie for $6 by Carters that looked like it had been barely worn, and a cute 100% organic cotton 2 piece pj set marked down for $1.75. Yee haw! I scooted outta there like that crazy woman in the Ikea commercial yelling at her husband to "start the car, start the car!!" because she thought she was getting away with a crime from paying so little.

In general, I haven't been here in a couple of months but they sure cleaned up and reorganized the place! It looks great now! The aisles are clearer and it's much easier to sort through stuff. Their book section looks way better with more offerings but their toys section looks pretty sad now (used to be the other way around). There was a nice woman who helped me with figuring out the price for the booster seat I got and whether or not the walker could be adjusted to a higher level (the spud is getting tall already). I negotiated the price a bit with her since I was buying so many things and without too much effort I was able to get a small discount. That's what I'm talking 'bout! Luck was on my side today!

What a sweet little consignment shop! After driving around with a napping baby in the back seat, I decided to check out downtown San Bruno for the first time. Lovely Bump is situated next to Starbucks and across from Lullabye Lane. Unlike many consignment shops, it is incredibly clean and organized. They didn't have a huge selection on the day that I was there, but I did find some great stuff (maybe 5 or 6 clothing items, a ride-on toy lion, and a very cute bib) for under $30. Beth, the owner, is very cool, a total sweetheart, and very helpful. She was also quite patient when my 15 month old son started having a meltdown as I was paying at the register.

I wish I had been pregnant up here in SF. There are NO consignment shops for maternity clothes down in LA, so not only was I fat and ugly, but I was wearing hideous maternity clothes that I paid way too much money for. I did not feel lovely with my bump!

Okay, so yes, the owner can be a little bit snarky sometimes especially when people try to just drop in and unload their used items without an appointment. BUT, she works really hard to support Moms and Soon-to-be Moms who love second hand stuff! When I was expecting, I found some really cute maternity pants here - petite size no less! And now that the baby's here, I love going to check out their great deals on good condition used clothes and toys! I've even found some great new with tags items for gifts :) Sure, sometimes I go in and don't find anything, but other days I'll find a bunch of good deals. It all depends on what's in stock on any given day. All in all, I'm definitely a fan of Lovely Bump. It's a great, local resource for Moms who want to reuse and recycle without having to go into San Francisco!

    This store is really cute
however it's a little over priced for second hand

I remember when she first opened the prices were way lower
she (Beth) worked there by herself or maybe one employee
and she was super sweet and very knowledgeable
no ever time I go in there she has employees that don't know crap
and Beth (owner) is too busy talking on her cell phone

seriously an employee looked at me like I had 3 head when I asked if they had and exersaucer

New second hand shop for kids clothes, accessories and maternity.  Nice to have in the neighborhood and a great selection of gently used kids clothes.  I am always in need of a place like this to buy and to unload clothes my kids didn't really use.

Next to other must stops for parents including Lullaby Lane, Starbucks and my fav lunch spot:  Latin Lounge.

I never was into 2nd clothing.  But once you get pass that mentality, you open yourself up to saving money and no wasting stuff.

Originally my wife and I went to Lullaby Lane.. Saw the prices there.. saw the Lovely bump and decided to go and check it out... WOW.. I bought a glider for 60 bucks!!! In working condition.  Anyways, I constantly go when I have a chance.. one of the best places for baby stuff and I like how friendly the owner is.

I've saved alot of money here and gotten some good stuff.. this place is a real treasure find!!!

I found this place on yelp just as I was needing some clothes that would fit over my growing belly. My mom wanted to treat me to some maternity clothes, and some of the reviews of Motherhood Maternity made it seem a little sketchy, so we went to the Lovely Bump as our first stop.

I'm so glad we did. We loaded up on stuff to try on, then went upstairs to the bargain area and got even more stuff. The changing rooms (I think there are two) were roomy enough for two people and were well-lit.

We got about 15 things for under $100! Such good deals and some really nice clothes for all occasions.

Great place!  Friendly, cheap and eco-friendly.  Cheaper or similar price to craigslist listings without the hassle of flakey sellers.

Recently, I had a shopping list and pre-shopped on the web to check prices on the thing I needed at Lullaby Lane and Target.  I decided to see how much I could save by stopping at the Lovely Bump first -- I  saved over $70 by checking the Lovely Bump first.  Here's what I found on my shopping list:

Fisher Price Bouncy Chair   retail 49.99/paid 17.50
2 Long sleeve infant shirts $3 ea.
    2 Wearable Blankets retail 21.99/paid $6 ea.
    1 girls jeans (children's place brand) $12 retail/paid $4

I walked across the street to lullaby lane to pick up the items the Lovely Bump didn't have in stock.  I'll always check Lovely Bump first.  It's a feel good shopping experience!

For any eco-cool folk -- I was thrilled to have no packaging to recycle, throw-out or feel guilty about.

    . . . . .There's a kid-lovin' cute little dog, too!

fter a daunting and DISAPPOINTING shopping afternoon across the street, I have to say... what a fun and cute shop!!!

They have a varied assortment of gently used maternity wear, which is a lifesaver since I seem to keep shopping as I keep getting larger.
I realize that these clothes are short term only, but it's hard not to buy!

Cute cute cute shop, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, and adorable bathroom. (Of course, as we get larger the proximity of a clean bathroom becomes more and more important every day.)

Though I didn't find anything today...I certainly look forward to going back!

This resale boutique is SUPER cute, clean and very well-organized.. it's exactly what you hope for in a second-hand store. The prices are reasonable, $5 and up for adorable onesy outfits.. shoes, toys, socks, headbands, etc.. even Mommy's maternity wear.. Actually, I don't think EVERYTHING is "used" here. There were so many goodies that you get that feeling of grabbing it and not letting go because you KNOW you got a good one! Lovely Bump can be a hit or miss, but you definitely WON'T get the stinky, unorganized uncoordinated feel at this second-hand gem.

I have been trading baby clothes with Beth for about 6 months now. She always gives me great credit and tries her best to squeeze me in. Other baby consignment stores don't take infant clothes so I was real happy that Beth worked something out with me. She always has good quality clothes and I love some of the dressy outfits as well. Great spot to go for someone who's baby grows real fast!

I visited this place after hearing many good things about it. I must have caught them on an off day. The first thing I noticed was this strong smell of cat litter. Normally I don't have a problem seeing as I have a cat, but this smelled like 20 cats lived there and never had their litter boxes cleaned. Not a nice smell to a pregnant nose. I might have forgiven that if the person behind the counter had acknoledged that we entered. In fact the only thing she did was look like she didn't want to be disturbed. The clothes were overly priced. $100 for a used pair of maternity jeans. And the baby shoes were marked brand new, but were covered in dirt. Sad to say, I won't be coming back. And I wish I had gotten the same experience as all these other people.

This is one of the cleanest and nicest resale stores I have been to for maternity/consignment. it is well laid out and Organized!!!!! The staff must spend a lot of time just sizing things and it shows.

They have a great selection of clothes for baby and momma, used and some new also. Prices were really decent for what they have and there was sale when I was there on certain colored tags (not sure if this is the norm)

The bathroom is large, clean and stocked with lotions too, which I liked. Nothing is worse than being pregnant and needing a bathroom, then having the bathroom be horrible. Thanks for the nice touch.

They also have a cute turtle to make funny faces at and a great kids play area. I will be returning when my little one is a bit older for more clothes.

The darling name is only the beginning of the great things about Lovely Bump.  There's both new and secondhand stuff, which rocks, because you can shop for yourself and for gifts for others.  For kids and maternity stuff, they both get outgrown so quickly why pay the price for new stuff?  I got great things for myself here when I was preggo, and now that I have a kid, I can shop for her here instead.
For gifts, the new stuff is perfect - my absolute favorites are the hand-painted onesies with the cute taglines.  I got so many compliments on my daughter's "I am not a boy" onesie when she was tiny!

    I love the Lovely Bump-

When compared to the retail prices that I have to pay when buying baby paraphanelia, the Lovely Bump has fantastic prices on used maternity books, children's books, baby gear, and most of all, baby clothing.  The selection is great for clothing, books, and toys, in that order.  The last time I visited, there weren't too many choices on hats and gear like strollers, cribs, bassinets, etc., but that's okay-you just have to be there more often to snag great deals.  Good parking available in front of the store and more than plenty around the block behind Lullabye Lane.
The store decor is cute and well thought-out, although it may appear cluttered at times by bulky consignment stuff for strollers to go around the limited store area.

Beth is very pleasant to chat with and although I do see some negative ratings by other yelpers on Beth's level of helpfulness, it should be clear that she runs this business on her own and I admire her for the courage and diligence to keep this place going.

The one other employee, Maria, does have an attitude.  She takes her time doing whatever she does and gave me and my husband a once-over before she greeted us, which made us feel a bit awkward that we're not Hispanic.

I totally agree with Anne E. You have to catch it on a good day. I went in once and didn't even find anything I wanted to try on. Then, a week later, I bought six items. It just depends on what they've gotten in that week.

I must have gone during a sale because I got several pairs of Old Navy jeans for $5-6. One had $2 in the pocket. Score!

I haven't looked at the baby stuff yet, only the maternity clothes. I wouldn't depend on Lovely Bump for all my needs, but it's good for rounding out your nice maternity wardrobe with some inexpensive T-shirts or jeans.

The employee (owner?) was really nice and not at all pushy. I appreciated being left alone while in the dressing room.

If you choose to trade your clothing or small items at Lovely Bump, be aware of the 8 week store credit policy.  Your goods are evaluated by Beth, the owner, and you are given half of that value in store credit.  The problem is you only have *8 weeks* to use your store credit or you loose it.  What is up with that??  In my opinion, the owner is ripping people off.
I went into the store today to use my credit and was told it was no good.  What?  My credit expired two days ago?  Since it was my first time back since my trade-in, I asked Beth to cut me some slack, that I didn't remember the small credit window.  She explained that the 8 weeks *nonsense* was stressed at the initial appointment.  I honestly do not remember; I just remember her saying that if I loose my ticket, that's it... no more credit.  She ended up giving me only half of my remaining credit as a "courtesy".  My ticket was for around $27 and she only let me use $13.  I don't get it, even a credit card company gives you a second chance if you're late just once.
I live in Redwood City.  I am not in San Bruno often and I do not understand why there would be such a short time limit on store credit.  I gave this place two stars because I actually like the store (even though the selection of boys stuff is very small), but I will not be back after this experience.

Both Maria and Beth have been very nice to me.  I think this is a great concept and it's a wonderful way to get baby stuff for less.  Stock definitely varies greatly depending upon the day, but if you have the time to pop in often, you could get lucky with a good deal!

They have really good items (used but in great condition) for low prices.  Occasionally I haven't been able to get as much help (customer service) as I needed, but other than that, it's a good store.  I would definitely shop there again.

While I was pregnant, with my second child - for the entire 9+ months -.
I visited Lovely Bump weekly and spent a lot of money there, as it has many items I did like.
Beth, was always very helpful and pleasant, when purchasing...

However, it feels like I am dealing with an entirely different person, when I was trying to sell her back items.  ( and these aren't the items I bought previously.

First of all, it's impossible to get an appointment, and when you do, it's two months out...
Second,  I took brand new items to her.  Items my son hadn't even worn, or worn just once.  I would say for over $200 worth of stuff, she gave me $53 credit for the store.
That bothered me, but I scheduled again, because babies grow like weeds!
I went in today to reschedule my appt. that I made for Friday, ( two months ago ) and she was SO RUDE!  Beth, the owner, was all bent out of shape, because she couldn't find the appointment.  She almost had a nervous breakdown right there.  I know people have bad days, but this is the fourth time I have been in there since my son was born, and I am done.
I told her not to worry about it, I will GIVE my latest batch with tags on them, to Goodwill, and to people that will appreciate it.
I will never go back to that store!
Good luck with your business, as you just lost a loyal customer, who told many people about this place...

I expected more from this store...BIG LET DOWN:( On their website they mention Premium Brands like: Oiliy, Jacadi, Bluberi Blvd, Etc...I did not find a single item from these brands!!
The store looks Dirty and Cluttered! The kids shoe selection is very, very poor and all the shoes were very worn in and Dirty! The only brands they carry are Carters..meh Not for me!! I can get that at Target!
Customer Svc. was AWFUL to say the least...the sales rep. was behind a counter-looking thing that was about 3ft high and flooded with JUNK!! Didn't even acknowlege us.
They had a CLEARANCE section towards the back of the store that was completely DISGUSTING and MESSY! Overall the store was dirty Except for the bathroom..WEIRD!
We immedaitely left and went aross the street to Lullaby Lane and found some really cute shoes by See Kai Run and some great feeding accessories for our baby...Don't think I will ever come back to LB!!

Like another reviewer pointed out, most of the baby clothes are overpriced. Why will I buy used clothes when I can buy new ones for nearly the same price?? But it's a nice place for browsing especially after a visit to Lullaby Lane across the street. Craigslist seems to be better for used baby products. Though once in a while, I have noticed reasonably priced strollers there. Hope to find a great deal someday!

I was really looking forward to finding some cute things here for my pregnant self. Unfortunately, I think it was just a bad day for me to come because everything was too big or too ugly to wear. The Lovely Bump is just like any consignment store. You have to come on a "good day" and get lucky to find something in the different racks of clothing they have. Maybe I'll try coming again when I'm feelin lucky...

The owner is very friendly and quite helpful. She has a large selection of baby and maternity items. The shop itself is very cute and nicely organized -- Especially considering the fact that it's so jam packed with baby goodies!

Love it!  The place is super cute and they have some great items. I only wish they had more cute shops like these on "The Avenue".  I haven't brought in any items yet to re-sale but I'm definitely going to very soon. I have a P3 stroller that  was like  $300 brand new they had and identical one (used)  that hardly looks used for like $40 bucks that is just insane. I highly recommend this place! Happy Shopping!

I recently began secondhand shopping since I found another children's used clothing store, Kid to Kid and loved it. I decided to visit Lovely Bump to check out their selection. When I first entered their store, I immediately noticed a foul odor. Not a great way to start my experience. I wasn't greeted at all by the lady at the counter and pretty much ignored as I went around the store. The store has a horrible layout. The used clothes are in the front and the price is scribbled badly on a ticket. Clothes, with tags attached are against the wall, and sale clothing is jammed in bins in the back of the store. Books, dvds, shoes, toys and baby/toddler items are scattered around the store. Their selection of shoes are pretty bad and most are not even in good conditon. The used shoes are located in the very back of the store, hidden, but a line of new shoes are kept in the front of the store. I would advise the owner to take a merchandising class or buy a book on it to better help the business. As far as the clothes, I didn't find anything interesting.

I tried to shop their again a few weeks later. I thought I didn't give it a fair shot because of the way the store was set up. I guess I am a little spoiled from shopping at kid to kid. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. A different lady was much too busy with her conversation on the phone. She was speaking in Spanish and since I know the language, the conversation was not appropriate for a children's store.  But again, not much selection in the 18-24 months boy or 3t girl sections.
