Milkshakes! Yay! Menu is the usual shakes, burgers, dogs, ham & cheese, fries, onion rings, etc... Retro-fabulous ambiance.
Food:
Cherry milkshake - yummy with chunks of real cherries. I had to spend some time dithering between that and the pineapple shake.
Cheeseburger - I like the tangy sauce and there was plenty of it. Bun was nicely toasted.
Fries - crinkle cut variety. I had to knock a star off for that. Shoestrings would have been nicer.
Total came up to $8+ change for 1 small softserve cone, cheese burger, fries and a small cherry shake, which is not bad at all.
Ambiance: Retro burger joint. Drive up park. Order /pickup at the window screen . Seating inside (with A/C as the sign proclaims) or outside the handful of round cement tables and benches to soak all the exhaust choked ambiance that is this beautiful stretch of Watt. We sat outside with the flies since we were too disgustingly sweaty from picking plums at a friends house to allow ourselves to sit inside.
Service: Girls working at the joint were very nice. Got my dose of "hon" and "sweety" for the month.
Oh, yeah...the bags of water with fake fish hanging from the ceiling is to keep the flies away. Yeah, I know. WTF?!! But we did ask and that the answer we got. Needless to say that theory needs to be looked at again.
I just had a regular Jumbo burger (I think) and if I remember correctly it wasn't that big, (oh maybe it was a regular cheeseburger) But the taste was great! I will have to go back though!
Burgers were good, not as big as I thought it would be. Very greasy crinkled fries. Take your meal to go, the tables outside are dirty and not so appealing with flies/garbage. lol
It was fun while it lasted. It's too bad they tore it down. Now there is only one Drive-In left in the Sacramento area in Rancho Cordova.
Perfect burger joint. Retro cool, super cheap and so good! Worth the drive.
Lous makes the best milkshakes.
