2 reviews for Louise Park
This a small park located in the West Valley area of Lake Balboa. This has the potential of being a GOOD Park but has a small issue of homeless people, drunks & drug users and Permanent RV Residents. There is a police prescene from time to time so you do feel safe, soits just an eyesore.
This park has 2 small baseball diamonds which are used for little league games and Adult Softball leagues. There is one basketball court. One bathroom which is not to clean at best and a childs playground. Lastly the parking lot is too small but there is street parking.
This park is GHETTO. And SO much fun. We used to get stinkin' drunk here in our youths, amidst all the homeless and the teenagers dry-humping on blankets. I ask you, what do a dead body, basketball, and a birthday party have in common? They are all things that can be found in Louise Park. Let me tell you a story.
After a very boring day in the Valley, I get home around 5pm and kick off my shoes. I flop on the couch and start to read a magazine, when I hear a knock at the front door. It's my friend Daniel, and he looks VERY excited.
"Hey Courtney, want to go see a dead body?"
I say nothing. I immediately grab my purse and my keys, and I throw on my flip-flops. My brother did not want to come with us, but he is okay with the fact that I am sick. On the way into his truck and over to the scene, I get some details.
There is a body laying on the sidewalk near the northwest part of Louise park. The body is covered in a white sheet, but according to Daniel it was clearly a male because you could see the top of his balding head. There is a lot of police tape, and a few cop cars... along with detective vehicles (black, "non-descript" Dodge Magnums).
So we pull up across the street from the park... and the scene is exactly as Daniel has described, but with more rubber-neckers. We make our way across the street, closer to the body... and I get my first good look. There is no blood on the sheet, and no body fluids. Just a plain, white sheet wrapped around a skinny husk of a man... the top of his head is dark, tanned... with graying dark hair. The body is on its back. And that's pretty much it, folks.
I wanted to poke it with a stick, but Daniel said the cops would get mad.
As we are leaving, we find out what exactly had happened... it turns out that this guy is one of the homeless guys who could always be found hanging around the park. There are a huge group of them, and sometimes they hang out in a dirty old van. Most of the time they sleep under trees. Well, this guy and a few of his other homeless friends were shooting up dope in the van, and this guy ended up overdosing... so what do his friends do? Kick him out of the van, onto the sidewalk, and leave the poor guy to die in the park. THE END.
As we're walking out, I glance back.... and I can't believe I didn't notice this before... BUT THERE IS A KID'S BIRTHDAY PARTY IN FULL-SWING, ABOUT 20 FEET FROM THE CORPSE!
Pinatas, birthday cake, tons of presents piled up on the park benches... AND THE CORPSE! It's like they didn't even bat an eye.... the last thing I saw was some of the older kids shooting hoops in the basketball court... the basketball bounces off the rim, nearly hitting the body and making this awful, hollow THUNK right next to its head. YEAH, MAN, PARTY ON.
Only in the Valley.
