this is a great delicatessen to stop at if you love italian style. But since it was early we ordered a breakfast special burrito and coffee. Very good. .

I had the breakfast burrito- it was pretty wack. Small, barely any meat, and they forgot to put salsa on.
I'd actually rate it lower but feel like I owe them another shot... -

everything i need for a quick breakfast or lunch by work. Delicious bagel breakfast sammy's, breakfast burritos (try the veggie!),fresh fruit, & surprisingly good coffee. they're lunch specials are great too.
Note: $4 minimum for credit card. not a big deal at all. -

I work very nearby and this is one of my regular lunch spots. Sandwiches, salads, soups etc etc...
I'm not a huge fan of the regular sandwich menu (it's fine, just not what I crave every day) but recently they've started lots off good specials (Jerusalem chicken, kebabs etc etc.). They're nearly always great and what's more they've started posting them on facebook so I know whether I want to go their for lunch before I leave my desk. Gotta love social med...
Right now I'm eating pulled pork on foccacia with coleslaw and it's GREAT!!! -

I crave Louie's chocolate chip cookies. I don't know if they bake it in house or if they have a vendor, but I don't care. It's amazing and usually 2-3 times a week (who am I kidding, it's almost every day) I will turn to my co-worker and say "I want a cookie from Louie's."
Now, the sandwiches are tasty too, I always get the hummus and tabulah pita sandwich and I love it. So fresh, so tasty, so light, yet so filling. But I can't rave enough about the cookie. Man, I really want a cookie now. -

There are quite a few delis in Sausalito, and this is a pretty good one that I've been back to a couple of times now. It's not much of a looker, but the service is fast and friendly.
I don't think this place merits 4.5 stars, but I'm giving it a solid 4. I don't know what it is...but I really like the way they cut the bread for the sandwiches. Is that weird? Maybe it's just me. I've had the #4 and #5, which have a couple of notes from other reviewers, but I like #4 (the cuban sandwich) a little bit more. It has a little spice to it, which is something I prefer.
I've never eaten here, as it doesn't seem like much of a dine in place, but when I'm on the run for a quick bite to eat, Louie's is a good stop to make! -

I've been here dozens of times and only gotten the number two which is roast beef with melted cheese and grilled onions on a roll put in the panini press. It is always the perfect temperature and has a great mixture of crunchiness and gooeyness. Not sure about the other sandwiches but I am sure they are good as well. Oh and by the way the cookies are somewhat pricey but delicious.

Louie's is a great standby lunch spot - especially for those that work in Sausalito. I wouldn't recommend it for tourists, or other visitors looking for a charming Sausalito lunch experience - head to downtown Sausalito for something like that. Louie's is more for people who just want a hearty, yummy and simple sandwich/meal. Essential for the guy/gal working their 9-5 in Sausalito.
It's also not a place where they are going to roll-out the red carpet for you. The mom & pop running the place are friendly and like everyone else, has their good days and bad. I don't get why people go into a humble joint like Louie's, and then complain about service that wasn't exceptional.
That being said - I really like this place. I usually rotate between the Cuban sandwich with a tangy chipotle spread, the ham/swiss/rye with subtly sweet mustard, or the turkey/provolone with roasted red peppers that I always feel like I'm tasting for the first time.
They sometimes have a hot plate option too, and I their lasagna is really good. I think it may be Stouffer's, which honestly, I think tastes way better than what you can get in restaurants :)
(I also don't know how people can say this place is overpriced...$6/7 for a sandwich that has tons of meat in it is overpriced?? This isn't Subway!) -

I'm always trying new delis and this one was a pleasant surprise. Keep your eye out if you are looking for it since it blends in with the shopping center. My GF and I hit up this place on the way to Muir Woods Nat'l forest.
I got a reg size ham and swiss on wheat bread, it was a lot larger than I expected, but it was great. They have a variety of breads to choose from and their menu has some unique items. Definitely check this place out if you are tired of Subway's lackluster subs.
Moderately priced about $9 for a sub, bag of chips (good Kettle brand), and a 20oz bottled Coke. -

My friends and I biked from San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. Planning on eating lunch there, we Yelped for lunch spots in Sausalito. Based on the other reviews here, it seemed like a good choice for lunch after a morning of biking.
After parking our bikes close to the harbor and ferry, and what seemed like the popular, downtown, main part of the city, we decided to go find Louie's. We saw that we were already on 800 Bridgeway, so 2656 couldn't be THAT far away. But it actually turned out to be a 40 minute walk for me and my friends across some pretty deserted areas of Sausalito.
When we finally arrived at Louie's, what I saw was pretty disappointing. Living in NYC, these sort of deli's are very average in what they serve- average panini's, other sandwiches, deli meats, egg salads, etc. I was hoping that based on the Yelp reviews, their sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies would surprise me.
I ordered the #5, which consisted of turkey, roasted red peppers, swiss cheese and pesto mayo. I was really excited about the pesto mayo, since I love both things. But in actuality, I could hardly taste any of the pesto. The sandwich was still tasty, but nothing spectacular.
The cookie was no better. It was good, but nothing I would walk 40 minutes for. The bucket of Trader Joe's cookies we brought tasted better in my opinion..
The only good thing about this place was the really friendly man who worked there, and let us use their bathroom, even though the sink had scalding hot water that burned.
In the end, unless you live close by, don't make the 40 minute trek for a $9 lunch that you could find anywhere. -

Sausalito, CA
This my second and last time trying this place.
Nothing special here.
The food is mediocre and overpriced.
There is no "character" or personality here at all. Customer service is a abrupt and borders on unfriendly.
This might be OK if you are starving and there is nowhere else to go. Just another very blah and forgettable place. -

Friendly and clean. We ordered a variety of sandwiches. Everyone was happy with their pick. Staff was friendly and food was quick. Has decent selection for vegetarian as well. Don't forget to grab q cookie. All varieties were phenomenal.

This place is Sausalito's epicenter of sandwich porn. The sammies are huge and piled to the heavens with freshly baked bread, quality meats/cheeses, and specialty mayos like Pesto and Chipotle.
I tried the #5 Turkey, roasted peppper bonanza today upon the recommendations of fellow Yelpers. It was a sammie of epic proportions, but so delicious I couldn't control myself. I ate the whole thing. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie that knocked my socks off. Seriously, these guys should open a bakery too and sell their bread and cookies so I don't have to sell my humanity to the devil's grocery store down the street, Mollie Stone's.
I'm looking forward to coming back to work next week solely for my lunch break when I can try the Cuban sammie. And another cookie or three.Listed in: The North Bay for Cheapos., Delis and Dinahz

Tried the deluxe grilled falafel today and it was really delicious! Perfect amount of sauce, not greasy, really fresh and flavorful. They had a ton of really creative and yummy looking salads that I will have to try next time. The food seems more like something that would be served in a cool hipster cafe, not a mom and pop shop. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it seemed to be a local favorite while I was there - it's also far enough away from the ferry terminal to avoid being touristy. Thanks Louie!

My 5-Star rating is based on their Chicken Wrap and Chocolate-Chip cookies. Love it. And I will continue to order it every time I enter the place. Not to mention friendly service every time. What a pleasant experience.
Bob F...why are you reviewing Louie's Deli if you "don't really love deli sandwiches" in the first place? Fine, so don't go there for a sandwich. Seems tacky. Sorry, but you're in the minority here my friend. -

Tasty tasty sandwiches. The deluxe falafel is delicious (and enormous). I keep eying the Cuban, but haven't made my way to it just yet.
Lots of hot and cold sandwiches. So far all have been very good. It isn't a transcendent experience, but at the same time it's hard to go wrong here. -

My co-workers and I love this place! All of their sandwiches and salads are fresh and tasty. We enjoy sitting outside in their outside dining area.
The service is always friendly! Best deal in Sausalito! -

My favorite sandwich is the turkey and avocado on wheat bread with honey mustard, lettuce, and tomato. OMG yummy!
My also all time favorite are the chocolate chip cookies. I have been loving them for 28 years. Yes thats a long time. -

Very local, very excellent.
Wonderful selection of sandwiches, salads, and other treats that can make going to lunch a wonderful surprise when trying something new.
Be sure to take one of those fresh cookies for dessert! -

Delicious and fresh food and really good service. I stopped by there on my way to work today and the owner asked how I found them. I said Yelp, and told him that they get great reviews on Yelp... he was so happy that he gave me a free chocolate chip cookies.
I would never actually buy a cookie mind you, but let me tell you this was the tastiest cookie that I've ever tasted. Still warm - he took it right off of the pan. Goodness gracious it was tasty. -

I love this place! Recently, I started working at a company in Sausalito and was in search of a great sandwich. Louie's fills that void every time! As previous posters have already noted, these are the highlights of my every visit...
1. Amazing sandwiches...check! Order one off the menu, or make your own. These sandwiches are always stuffed with fresh ingredients and always hit the spot.
2. Friendly service...check! I love taking my lunch break to pick-up a sandwich here knowing how friendly they are each time I come in.
3. Deliciously, fresh and soft chocolate chip cookies...check! They are a must not miss...baked fresh daily, these little monsters fill both of my needs when it comes to the afternoon pick me up treat, and the deadly late night TV munchies. -

i take the last comment about the tomatoes back and give them the extra star.
why?
because we were there yesterday and had no idea they close at 4PM. we showed up at 3:55PM, realized they closed at 4PM, and stuck our heads in to see if they would still serve us. the guy [louie, i`m assuming] recognized us from the first time we were there and graciously let us order our sandwiches to go.
so YaY for louie`s deli!! thanx for serving us even though you were [almost] closed! xD1 Previous Review: Show all »

Louie's is a 3 star deli. If you're at a friend's house and he pulls some stuff out of the frig to make you sandwich what you'd get is about what you get at Louie's.
I don't understand all the 5 star reviews this place is getting. I don't really love deli sandwiches but occasionally I like a really great sandwich (like they make at Little Lucca in South San Francisco.)
Louie's is ordinary. -

Awesome deli! Louie's Deli & Cafe has a big variety of yummy sandwiches and super fresh produce and great salads, etc. in the deli. Plus, any place that has Armenian food (tabouleh, dolmas, falafel) ready to go gets 5 stars!! I'm gonna have to eat here more often!

I have been there a few times; These days I can't go there enough. My office is next door nearly to Molly Stones. This place is the best in town. I go the extra distance to get to go food from there. The people are very friendly. If you don't find something on the menu--no worries, they will make it. They go the extra mile for you. The food is fresh and very reasonably priced....better than the others. Love it.

Great little deli, tucked in next to Avatar's on Bridgeway. Pleasant, sunny outdoor seating. Friendly service, and they take care of their regulars. The #5 sandwich rocks, and I hear great things about the Cuban sandwich, too. Falafel and dolmas in the case, along with some limited deli-salad items. Good selection of drinks & potato chips ... but sadly even Louie's doesn't carry Tim's Dill Pickle. :( (*** Does anyone carry those any more??? ***) Total for sandwich + drink, no chips = less than $10.

AWESOME Deli! I usually go here at LEAST once a week! My favorite is the #5, awesome with chicken instead of turkey!!!!

Lots of very interesting options for lunch ranging from Falafal to Pasta with Salmon. I had the Cuban sandwich, which had two kinds of meat, cheese, pickles and a very good sauce, on a nice cibatta roll. Prices are about average for Sausalito - most sandwiches are $7. There are a few outdoor tables that are nice as the interior is lacking to say the least. But, its a deli so not much is expected in terms of decor with deli's (at least the ones that I frequent)...

Really good sandwich with really fresh ingredients. The service was really good and they got the sandwich exactly right. The avocado they cut open right in front of me and put on my sandwich tasted soooo good. The chocolate chip cookie was awesome too. If you're around here, stop by and get some eats.

Went here yesterday for lunch. Super friendly staff, very clean facilities, yummy food, and great prices! My friend and I both had roasted turkey sandwiches and they were delicious. :) The weather was nice so we sat outside in the sun. This place is very chill and you can hang out as long as you want. Lots of parking as well.

Very good sandwiches, especially since "normal" sandwich type lunches are hard to find in this area. They have good selection of fresh ingredients; bread, though ordinary, is good too. They also have a daily hot entree selection that includes a salad.

Everything here is fresh and homemade. The sandwiches are fantastic; my two faves (both are served hot): the #3 Ham, Swiss & Tomato on Rye w/ Mendocino Mustard and the #2 Roast Beef, Provolone & Caramelized Onions w/ horseradish mayo on a roll. Yummy! Also, really good salads!

I went about 5 yrs ago and had a really nasty sandwich, but upon reading these reviews I gave it another chance today and was very pleased. Also had the #5, but got a #3 for a colleague and he loved it too.
Happy to have an alternative to Mollie's! -
Review from Melody L.
Plano, TX
Wound up here in desperation as we'd tried several area restaurants on our "list" and found them closed for the afternoon--a circumstance you'd never find in restaurant haven Dallas. We were starving and finding Avatar's next door closed was the last straw so we decided to "just eat something" and headed in to the unprepossessing deli next door. Wow, the god of fortune smiled on us here! I don't even like paninis and absolutely loved the chicken panini with roasted red pepper, gouda cheese and black olive spread. I can see myself going back for more of that next time I'm in the area. I'm sad I hadn't done my research on this place before hand as it seems I missed their chocolate chip cookies--I'll definitely have to go back next time and try them.

Review from Paul F.

Here's the 2 great things about Louie's.....
1. It's a Mom and Pop shop. The owners still work there (I think 20 years), make the food fresh, care about their customers.
2. It's a Mom and Pop shop. They are there every day, please happy customers with their home made cooking.
I've been going there for years, lately not so much. They are coming to us. We usually have them cater twice a month for a crowd of about 15 people. The company favorite lunch is the Mediterranean; it's a bunch of different middle eastern platters. The close second is a variety of gourmet sandwiches, accompanied with fresh salads, specifically the spinach pasta salad, greek salad, and salmon pasta salad. My favorite is the couse couse with chicken and garbonzo beans. You can clearly taste and smell the difference. Once in a while the company veers off course and orders from Boudin....there is no difference. The people that work at Boudin work because they have to.....Maurice and Viv at Louie's love making creative platters and seeing happy customers. If you can't get to Louie's, have them come to you. Oh, and one more thing, they make my job stress free. I usually tell them I need lunch for 15 people, they come up with the menu and I say nothing. I know my employees are happy with all the food from Louie's.
