Although the food is fantastic, the new lunch buffet is failing.  While there today, they were incapable of keeping up with the food for the number of customers there.  Sushi disappeared in 5 minutes and did not reappear for 25 minutes.  The buffet was never complete with food.  The majority of the time, customers had to go back to their seats with only a very small sampling on their plates.
The overall experience today was unpleasant due to the fact that we felt as though we had to watch the staff to see when they were going to replenish the food so we could hurry and and have something to eat.
BIG thumbs DOWN for today, sadly.

The Lotus Blossom provides consistently good meals (not just the appetizers). Portions are a bit on the small side as are the drinks. The ambience is nice and yet still it's a friendly place for kids assuming they are not too far on the boisterous side. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. It's not awe-inspiring but I've never walked out unhappy, either.

I think this place has gone down in quality the past few years. The food is good but not great and the service is very hit or miss.

The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and it is a cool looking place. It get's very crowded on the weekends but it is a big venue so you can usually get in after a decent wait.

I just think the price of the food is too high for what they are serving. I also think the service is pretty bad.

With that said it is a solid place for Chinese food, for the most part.

I have been to the Lotus Blossom and have always that they off good quality chinese food at moderately high prices.  I love the general tsao chicken or gao or w/e it's called at the given moment..Sadly both time I've had it I've developed a terrible flair up of gout...and yes you'd think I would have learned from the first time.  So sadly I no longer frequent Lotus Blossum with much frequency and I think this makes my arteries a bit happier. So the food is great and the Sushi well ok..I like a nice tight roll and when we got our plate the rolls were a bit sloppy but still quite good.  The servers are attentive and when one at the next table spilled a glass of wine onto the woman's lap..he looked truly sorry..

The only odd experience is picking up take out...The managers are rigid and lack a certain friendliness.  I always feel like they were doing me a favor by taking my money and making my food.  I'd would definitely return if not for the fear of coronary artery disease,  I suppose one could get healthier choices but what kinda fun is that.

Celebrated NYE with my two sweeties last night: my wife and mom-in-law. Chose Lotus Blossom after researching here on yelp. Impressive decor inside and outdoors lead to one of the best American-style Chinese food meals I've ever had: amazingly scrumptious crab rangoon, pan-fried noodles, shrimp with lobster sauce, eggplant in garlic sauce and crispy pork tenderloin. Yum yum yum! They even had draft Smuttynose IPA on tap! Our waitperson, Shawn, was excellent! We'll go back and order a huge bowl of crab rangoon and wash it down with draft Smuttynose!

I absolutely loved this place both times I have dined there recently. Despite being under construction at the time, the atmosphere was realxing and the restaurant was clean. The service was impecable. Our waiter the first time was Kevin (I believe), and he was not only friendly, but absoluetly went above and beyond as a server. Being a server at another restaurant myself, I can appreciate good service. Kevin was there whenever we wanted something, answered all our questions and gave good recommendations. He even rolled our Moo Shei (spelling?) for us in the little pancakes and served them to us...he took out our chopsticks from the paper and made sure there were no pieces left behind for us to cut our mouths on! come on! He was amazing, the food was awesome, the restaurant itself was beautiful and everyone was kind and curteous.
The 2nd time we went was recently during the storm. Lotus Blossom was the only place open for business at the time and it was PACKED. We put our name in and were expecting to have to wait forever, so we sat at the bar in the back for a drink. Before we even got our drinks, they called our name. We had some chinese, such as chicken and broccoli with brown rice, and some sushi as well (spicy tuna rolls) and seaweed salad. Everything was incredible and even though they were ridiculously busy, everyone was calm and helpful. I know when I get busy at my restaurant, I'm a mess...oh, and the drinks were delicious! We got some special with Absolute, muddled basil, and lemon I think....in a martini glass....sooo good! love this place!

I used to go to Lotus Flower in Framingham more often than it's sister restaurant, Lotus Blossom in Sudbury.  Lotus Flower still has a better buffet, but for everything else, I prefer Lotus Blossom.  The food is generally fresh and interesting, and they also offer a Japanese menu (although not nearly so good as that of Oishii Too just up the street).

The other selling point for Lotus Blossom is that they deliver.  When you live near Boston, that's a big plus.

General Gau chicken was delicious - not overcooked to a crisp, not overpowered by ginger, and served with great fresh steamed broccoli.  Hot and sour soup was above average, as was the fried rice, which contained more vegetables than just the usual peas and carrots.  The Mrs. ordered sushi and spoke highly of that as well.

If the metrowest competition is CK Shanghai in Wellesley and Szechuan Gourmet in Framingham, this may be a contender for best Chinese around.

Last Saturday, ten of us went there for a brunch. Since they don't serve buffet on Saturday, we had to order from the menu. While, the dishes were extremely good and the price was equivalent to the buffet price which is very moderate.

Since most of us are Chinese and from serveral cities in China, we prefer authentic Chinese/Asian food rather than those tailored dishes for American. This Asian Fushion restaurant gave us a lot of supprise on their creative ways to do Chinese/Asian cuisine.

I was back to Boston from New York City just for this brunch with my friends there. Gotta say it deserves my trip.

Our first time there was months ago for a Sunday brunch which was buffet style. That was another awesome experience coz we have tons of great and sushi there.

Can't wait to go back soon~~~

Went here on Sunday for a meetup with Family. They have a a Sunday Sushi Brunch, Sushi along with other selections from their normal Menu.

First of all, if you are going to describe something as a brunch, Breakfast/Lunch, try and have at least one thing on there that could be a breakfast entree.

That little vent aside, They do have excellent General Gau's Chicken and my Wife and family love the Pineapple Fried rice. Its not on the menu but if you ask for it they will make it and its really good.

Overall a very good meal for not a ton of money, only let down was the Faux Brunch.

The food and wine is amazing.

The best is they keep creating new dishes, the combination of Asian flavor with western material always bring us a special and cheerful experience.

It is well decorated, and the service is good.   I hold my graduation celebrate dinner there, a friend's birthday celebrate lunch, turns out it is our first choice for any kind of event.

Awesome food! Went with the entire family and each of us had something different to eat. Not quite common when traveling with a vegetarian family. They have a huge menu and a great variety of foods from all over eastern asia. I stuck with the sushi, the veggie sushi roll was ok but the sweet potato and tempura rolls were delicious! Other plates at the table were a spicy eggplant dish and tofu in brown sauce - all were wonderful food.

Ill probably go back here for a special occasion or when I have guests from out of town

While visiting my bf's family for the Christmas holiday in Sudbury, we all had dinner here one night (his family are regular customers here).  Yum!  My favorites were the egg drop soup (tasty, perfect on a cold night), spareribs (super tasty and tender), Orange Pepper Crusted Diver Scallops (tangy tasty), and my all-time favorite was the baked sea bass (the taste was right on!).

The service was nice & friendly and the cosmo martinis are good and strong - loved it!

    Happy New Year!

Simply put, Lotus Blossom has amazing chinese food, and that's coming from a guy who's been to China.

That said it's not true Chinese food, still your standard Americanized fare, just really good quality in a nice restaraunt.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars for three reasons: 1) They recently remodeled and decided that was a good reason to jack their prices up, WAY up; 2) portions are smaller almost to the poitn where it's hard to share them; 3) They should have stuck to Chinese food, after the remod they added a japanese menu and their sushi is barely better than the stuff you get pre-made at a convenience store.

I still highly recomend it if you're out in the 01776 (1776 for a reason baby!).

Fantastic food and service. I went for a Sunday brunch buffet which was very good! There was sushi in the buffett, too(!!!!) as well as great Chinese food, and delicious desserts. All very good and very tasty. The decor of the place was also very nice. The atmosphere is very good, -- very nice ambiance!

One thing I must add is I've never been to Sundbury before, so I don't know what other restaurants are like in the area, but this restaurant felt like someplace you'd walk into in downtown Boston, Brookline, or some place very ritzy.

Quality Americanized Chinese food with a great decor. If you are looking for good Chinese food and you are in the area then you will not be disappointed.

They have a very good lunch buffet. There are only a few things in the buffet (6 or 8 I think), but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. They also offer sushi on the buffet, but the sushi is only OK, almost like it is an after thought.

Very tasty food. Very polite and attentive service. It's very rare that a waiter places my napkin in my lap for me. Makes me feel like a lady. We went for lunch on a Saturday and there were quite a few other people there.  The weird thing was that it was so quiet. Seems like we were the only ones not in the middle of an uncomfortable lunch. The silence was deafening! Otherwise, very nice. Except for the fly that was buzzing around my chair the entire time.
P.S. Keep in mind that the lunch buffet is only Monday thru Friday. Don't let the sign outside fool you.

Great food, strong drinks, and decent service.

The fare is some of the best westernized Chinese food in the area.  Favorites include the Mongolian spicy beef, basil chicken in wine sauce, sesame chicken, and Peking ravioli.  The scorpion bowls are large and rather strong, with lots of fresh fruit juice.

Service can be a bit rushed and inattentive, but orders are taken accurately and the food delivered quickly... waiting for a refill can sometimes take a bit longer.

The restaurant is quite large, and the wait is reasonable, even on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

Absolutely top-notch americanized chinese food, service and atmosphere. I've been patronizing Lotus Blossom since I was in high school, due to the fact that I grew up in the area-and when I had a car. Not T accessible.

Recently (and by recently I mean maybe two years ago) they added sushi and Japanese fare to the menu as well, which I found to be just above average.

I recall from my pre-veggie days that their crab rangoons were far and away the best I've ever had. I only know one other place that can compete for this type of food in quality; pretty much anything you get off the menu is excellent. It may not be cheap, but you get what you pay for.

I highly recommend this place for a family dinner or group gathering, there are plenty of large tables and a big enough kitchen that you won't wait much longer than smaller groups.

This is another one of those 'meh' restaurants. You leave thinking - that was ok. Not bad but not good.

I was at Lotus Blossom last night and the place, like usual was bustling with Friday night traffic. The restaurant is large though so there wasn't any waiting but the the time we left it seemed like a queue was imminent.

We ordered Miso Soup, Crab Rangoons, Vegetable Tempura, and Sushi. I didn't have the Miso soup but judging by the quantity remaining the bowl it was nothing more than average. The Rangoons were pretty good - not terribly greasy and not a completely overwhelming taste of cream cheese, so I enjoyed those. The vegetable tempura was a miss. Anf the Sushi was ok. Better than what you'd get at Trader Joe's (which isn't really saying much) but I've had better other places.

The wait staff is very attentive however and they even gave us a free dessert to celebrate the chinese new year. The dessert was so-so (Passionfruit custard) but it was a nice surprise regardless.

I've also been to Lavendar a few times which was started by a former owner of Lotus Blossom I believe and while I feel the highs are higher there and the lows lower you're probably apt to get a more consistent albeit less exciting meal here.

The place was packed, the servers were busy! I called ahead to see if they could accomodate special dietary requests, and I was told they can. Everything is prepared fresh/made to order.
We started with an appetizer the avacado maki rolls were yummy. Our server quickly rushed our dinner order in as our 3 year old was starting to fade.  My very plain (as requsted) chicken with cashews was amazing.  My son gobbled up his rice, and my husband raved about his Happy Family dish.  They do everything just perfect!   Service did run abit slow toward the end, but they were very busy, and making an effort!

This review is specifically about the lunch buffet.  We've had dinner here a handful of times, and always really liked it, so today we tried the lunch buffet.  It was terrible!  We left hungry. What a waste of money.

The lunch buffet goes on until 2pm, and we got there at 1:30pm. I don't know what time you're supposed to arrive to get fresh food, but we obviously missed the boat.

First of all, they have a very small selection of items- you almost shouldn't call it a "buffet."   Just a small heated cart with small trays and the pan trays had hardly any food in them.  Like the fried rice was probably just a couple of cups of rice in the middle of an empty pan. And it was clear they're not refilling any of them, so you're stuck with what's there.

But OK, we were hungry and we figured we could just make due with what was there, so we filled our plates and sat down to eat and realized that everything was cold!  I don't know how that could be- we were sitting pretty close to the cart, and we could see the fire thing going underneath, and the steam coming up between the pans, so I don't know how this stuff couldn't be even a little bit warm.  (???)

But the best part was trying to eat the stale old food that had obviously been sitting out for awhile.  The mei foon and the fried rice was so dried out they were at the same time hard and chewy and crunchy.  And what's better than a freezing cold and stale crab rangoon?

    Yuck

I have only been here for the lunch buffet, and it is quite decent. You receive your choice of a soup with the buffet, which consists of several hot dishes, sushi, and dessert. Now, I'm not talking just california rolls, but real nigiri sushi. However, it's not the freshest sushi around, but it is still quite tasty. This is a popular choice for a lot of the people who work in the area and can get crowded during lunch.

and food quality is poor. Very greasy. The last hot and sour soup we ordered didn't have  a woodear mushroom to be found.. and lotus shoots few and far
between. Alot of tofu and cabbage. Tasty, but for thier prices I want the

I'm between 3.5-4 stars. Their food is really good (I've only gone there 3x, and for dinner, I haven't tried their lunch buffet yet) but it is overpriced. I always get their peking duck (get the whole, the portions are small there, but beautiful presented) and their steamed bass with ginger/scallions.  Their lychee martinis are delicious!!!  I haven't tried their sushi yet but they seem to have a few creative things that I really wanna try next time I go.  One weird thing tho, they only take reservations if it's over 6 people.

I ate here with my family while visiting some relatives in the Boston area in late December 2007, right before New Year's.  Not only does Lotus Blossom have wonderful Chinese food; they also have great sushi, which would delight any sushi addict like me.  They have a variety of appetizers and the portions, the main dishes are big enough to share, good Shirley Temples (and other beverages as a nice complement to your meal),  and the desserts are out of this world!  Since it was nearly a year ago, I can't exactly remember what I ate, but I will always remember that the service was great and so was the food!

CLASSY!!  Spectacular decor.  The BEST lunch bufffet around. I think its like $11 and INCLUDES tons of sushi. The food is fabulous. Very nice upscale place. Great service. TV's are a bit tiny behind the bar.......could use a big screen.  Gourmet food/atmosphere would be a good word to describe it.
