VH and I came here with a friend last Saturday Night. They don't take reservations, but we were seated in about 15 minutes, and while waiting we had something to drink at the bar: VH and Megan had a glass of Cava, while I had their Maker Marks cocktail.

The place is nice and cozy, with exposed bricks and a chalkboard band along the main wall. The kitchen is partly exposed. Overall I liked the ambiance, although if you're looking for something particularly romantic perhaps this is not the place for you.

We had a bottle of 2007 Il Corzanello Bianco, a nice and dry white wine from Tuscany ($36), very crisp.

The menu is slim: six small dishes and six entrees*, but focusing on a few items rather on a larger menu pays off: all the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious! For starters we shared the antipasti (cured lamb neck, cured pork neck with dill pickles, pickled mushrooms, carrots, and warm olives; $12), and the shaved fennel and radishes salad (with spiced walnuts and parmesan; $9). The fennel salad was particularly tasty and crunchy.

For entrees, I had the lamb ribs with chick peas, olives, mint and lemon( $17); the meat was super-tender, coming off the bones so easily. My gf had the roasted chicken breast with mashed potatoes, swiss chard, pickled and roasted mushrooms ($18), which was incredibly flavorful, with a nice and crunchy skin. Megan had the pan roasted cod with brown butter, black tuscan kale, and white sweet potatoes ($19). So good!

We also shared the special bread pudding for dessert ($7), which was good but a bit dry: I would have liked to have some kind of sauce with it.

Service was impeccable, both at the bar and at the table: despite the small size of the restaurant, there were 4 waiters, all attentive and nice. This restaurant is definitely very well managed. One thing that was missing was bread: we weren't given any bread at the table, unfortunately...
-------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------
*I was very intrigued by the grass fed beef burger, which comes with pickles, cheddar cheese, potato skins, lardo butter, AND a Brooklyn Lager for $15!!! I guess I'll have to come back...

This place rocks! Very Brooklyn, and naturally very good. This place doesn't take reservations, however, we were able to score a table for 3 on a Saturday night only after 15 minutes. The ambience is wonderful esp wooden beams on the ceiling, and chalkboard lining the wall.
Appetizers:  fennel salad, and antipasti
Entrees: monkfish, chicken breast and lamb ribs.
I have to say they did a very good job with the chicken. I am not a chicken fan, and wow, I was impressed. The skin was nice and cripsy and the meat was juicy, flavourful and tender. The mash potatoes were out of this world and the kale was just right.
The fennel salad and antipasti were both excellent.
The menu is small, but really, if you can make every dish to perfection, then the eatery has accomplished its goal. and here at lot 2, they scored!
Just curious:  Is there a Lot 1?

I need to put another review on here.  They just added the Lot 2 Burger to their menu, and it is hands down the best burger I have ever had.... I mean I nearly wept while I was eating it.  This is the kind of food that gives you a new appreciation for being alive.

On top of that, it's $13, served with potato skins, and for another $2 they throw in a Brooklyn Lager.  It is beyond amazing.

And to address Lori M.'s review about it being cold and calculated:  I'll admit the first time we went here, I could have seen where she was coming from, but these guys have nailed down their flow since opening, and they can really focus on being hospitable and friendly.  I can't think of a nicer restaurant to be with friends on a snowy winter night.

Hands down the best burger I've had in a long time. They use pasture raised meat cooked perfectly to a juicy medium-rare. For an extra $2 you get a Brooklyn lager with it.

Additionally their Sunday Supper prix-fixe is a great deal and worth every cent, I've been a few times now and every dish was delicious.

We went here for dinner for the first time and really liked it!  Staff was friendly, ambiance was comforting and pleasant.  I thought the food was amazing!  I had the roasted chicken and it was juicy, the spinach cooked perfectly, and the oyster mushrooms full of flavor.  I'm not a huge beer drinker, but felt in the mood for one and the waitress made a nice recommendation.  After 3 courses, I almost didn't want to leave we were having such a good time!  Now that's the mark of a good restaurant....

I'd like to add my praise to the reviews of Lot 2.

We ate there a few days ago. Our meal began with two delicious, abundant salads (an arugula salad and a refreshingly tasty fennel salad). Our friend had the crostini with lardo butter--a delightful indulgence.

We then went on to several other dishes, including the lovely cod and roasted chicken. Special highlights were the buttered noodles (which lived up to their legendary rep) and our dessert of chocolate pudding with candied peanuts (unusual, subtle and delish).

All in all, it was a pleasure to experience food so lovingly prepared and handsomely presented. The environment was convivial and relaxing. We were treated very well here, and I'm looking forward to returning soon.

One of the top restaurants in Brooklyn, yet hidden away.

The burger is the best I've ever tasted. And for $15 it comes with a Brooklyn lager. Great deal.

Other highlights are the homemade chocolate pudding and the SCALLOPS!!!!

The place won't be a secret for much longer, as the second branch of Lucali is opening on the same corner any day now.

It took me a while to write this...well simply because (finally) there was little to write about. Went here (we live in Manhattan) because our friends live near-bye, and they always try to suggest new and interesting places. There was nothing wrong with the meal, the service was efficient, the space sparse and calculated. As was our experience. Efficient and cold. This restaurant is a perfect example of how you can do everything right and yet, still, be just ok if not so-so. This area is certainly in dyer need for upscale dining, but a bit of personality wouldn't hurt. Would not be back.

Bland  interior except for a nice beamed wood celing leads to a restaurant where the ingredients and food rule.  "New Brooklyn cuisine" is expertly represented and everyone from the waiters to the owners is passionate about what is served.  Rolls are from Sullivan Street bakery.  The menu is made up of smaller dishes somewhat reminicent of Prune on the LES.

We ordered two dishes to share.  The steamed clams with roasted tomatoes, fresh chilies and garlic bread was a flavor burst for $13 bangers.  The other dish of olive oil poached cod with white beans and leeks was also a flavor popping combo for $19.

There were only three dessert choices- chocolate pudding with candied peanuts, cheesecake with almonds and blueberries and peach ice- all $7.  We went with the cheesecake which was a small mound of cheesecake with crunchy slivered almonds on top and blueberries cooked in sugar on top.  YUM!

Ch-ch-ch-changes, in the words of Bowie, are afoot in the Slope.

Kitchen Bar is officially (sigh) no more. Lot 2 has moved in.

And for the most part, this change is acceptable to me (though, for the love of God, someone needs to bring back that $2 Kitchen Bar sangria in the afternoons). My friend and I hit it up for dinner.  I had the fennel, spiced walnut and parmesan salad. Good stuff -- the kick on the walnuts was happily unexpected. My friend had the "lipstick on a pig," a pork dish which gave a thumbs-up.  However, the menu we were given just denoted all the dishes as "dinner"  (as opposed to appetizers versus entrees), so we didn't know we technically ordered appetizers until the waiter mentioned it, and we didn't want to spend another ten minutes figuring out alternative choices. I assume the menu might be semi-makeshift, however, since they just opened.

For dessert, we had the vanilla cheesecake that featured a pretty excellent crushed almond garnish and strawberries. Unique texture for cheesecake and cute presentation in a tart-like form.

Also, service was great -- the waiter was insanely helpful and friendly (and apologetic when we pointed out they mistakenly added about $25 to our bill).

A couple extra notes:

- The "lardo butter," in case you're curious, is mixed with pork. I hear it's supposed to be otherworldly, but this particular vegetarian can't personally vouch for that. Sorries.

- Only wine and (two) beers available so far; no liquor yet.

I had a very good experience here. It's still a new-ish restaurant, so the staff were very attentive and very happy to have people come in to eat there. The decor was very sparse and modern-looking (especially compared to Kitchen Bar, the former tenant of the space).

Although the menu was limited, what we had was very good. My arugula salad appetizer was a hardy portion. The beets were well pickled and the dressing was delicious. The lamb sausage entree was likewise very well portioned and seasoned perfectly. I also sampled the buttered noodles. They were clearly cooked with no shortage of butter, but were extremely good. For dessert we had the chocolate pudding -- quite well executed.

All in all, Lot 2 is a solid and reasonably priced "Noveau Brooklyn" restaurant, and comparable to a lot of the new wave of restaurants in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill. Though less notably southern-influence than others of its ilk, it's definitely worth a shot.

I love that Lot 2 was able to open so quickly...

This place is great.  The decor is wonderful, although the lights were a little bright last night!  Love the butcher paper on the tables and the overall comfyness of this place.  The food was great and I loved the simplistic way the menu was presented (although I would have loved to know what is considered an entree and what is an appetizer)

I really love this place and will be back!  The staff was wonderfully friendly and I was happy to be there on their opening night!

My girlfriend and I went there on Saturday night. As we were regulars of Kitchen Bar (will I miss these $2 sangrias!), we were eager to see what replaced the recently closed restaurant.

We walked in and I was somewhat stunned by the décor. Unfortunately it was not in a good way. Where KB was all in bright colors, Lot 2 decided to go with a very sober "café au lait" paint for the walls with, for contrast, some rectangles of chalkboard, believed to be for customers to leave praises but that had been wiped clean recently. The ceiling lights were regular bulbs hanging with the type of wire frame you find on construction sites. Either they were hung too high or not powerful enough but they had a hard time brightening the place even in (cloudy) daytime. The butcher paper used as tablecloth was the final touch for this "voluntarily still under construction" décor.

The second thing I noted was the crowd. Older than KB, this was not surprising with the prices on the menu. This is definitely a restaurant that wishes to be on the upper scale side, especially for this neighborhood.  When we walked in, the chef seemed to be out of the kitchen, talking with some customers, which I appreciated as a Frenchman who always likes to share his experience (especially what went wrong) with the person who cooked his meal. Turns out that the diners were friends with the chef who didn't come out anymore. I didn't get to tell him what I thought about my meal.

All that before we even sat...

The waitress, charming and perky, handed us the menus and immediately pointed out that everything was made on premises. It's shouldn't be a special feat but these days, you never know. She also let us know where the appetizers ended and the entrées started on the piece of paper clamped to a cardboard that they used as menu (Which is actually a n inexpensive while pretty good idea) We ordered wine. For $10 I thought mine was somewhat under-filled (maybe  of the glass) but it was good.

We shared the "Neck 3 ways" as an appetizer. The sausages were cut paper-thin and the duck rillettes were tasty. All in all a good dish even if I would have liked more than 1 slice of baguette to enjoy it. But already I noticed that, maybe the dish was missing something, maybe a French pickle or some mustard...

For the main course, my date was served the "Slow and Low" while I settled for the "Lamb Sausage" after reading this comment on the chalkboard: "OMG The lamb sausages are f*cking good!" The sausages were definitely fresh (made on premises) and cooked properly. But there again it was missing something: Flavor (Yes I said it!). It was just some grilled sausages resting on some broccoli rabe with some sliced black olives and pepper. No herbs, no sauce, no mustard, no flavor. It wasn't bad, it was bland (which I tend to find worse). While the "Slow and Low" packed a little more flavor (mainly in the sauce), I believe that it could have used more spices as well.

The big letdown was, surprisingly, the quantities. We finished our meals, the waitress removed the crumbs from our butcher paper tablecloth, then, politely, we declined the desserts that didn't seem like they were going to wow us from the look we had of the menu (Lime ice shavings?) and, instead of having leftovers, we found ourselves still hungry. Now I, for once, agree that regular restaurants provide their customers with portions that are unhealthily large. But there's a line between packing leftovers for the next 2 days and having to buy food after a restaurant meal like in the Mastercard commercial (no we did not get Twinkies and the rain prevented us from going to Uncle Luigi).

To summarize this lengthy review, Lot 2 left us with an unsatisfied feeling when we left the place. The service was great but the food matched the walls in a bland sort of way. I believe the place has great potential, as it is the only "nice" restaurant that far south of the Slope. But the owner had a choice to make. Either he's serving food for people who like eating "simple and organic" or he wants a more upscale place with dishes that match his menu prices.

Ate here last night with my husband. Wish I could give more stars as I can see that everyone who works there is very serious and heartfelt about what they do, but this just doesn't seem like a good fit for the space. This area of Brooklyn is starved for good restaurants but is NOT the spot to put a destination sort of spot, which Lot 2 is. The food was quite good, but very limited in its choices. The space was not terribly warm or welcoming. We were one of only 2 tables eating on a beautiful Wednesday evening - there were a few people at the bar, just drinking.

I would love for this place to succeed and if it were about 7 or 8 blocks closer to Park Slope, it probably would, but it is just not special enough to make it down here.

This is a place run by people who obviously care about food. You can tell a lot of thought was put into every dish. Every single dish I've had there has been excellent (I've been about five times): the buttered noodles melts in your mouth, the salad with the iced lemon is refreshing and subtle (for the summer), the sausage pappardelle, the lamb ragout (a special - insanely good), the chicken (ridiculously good, sitting in broth with the skin prepared like it's supposed to) and the burger. It's all prepared with care. Desserts are excellent. Portion sizes are just right. There should be a line there: it's right up there with the best Brooklyn has to offer. If you like Rosewater, Convivium, Applewood... try this place! You won't regret it. Oh, and their beer selection is awesome.

The food fondled my palate. This Scott I keep hearing about certainly knows how to tease out every last gustatory cadence of pork. I mean wowsa. I'm rooting for you to try any installation of pig parts this genius decides to cure for you. His cure is yours. BELIEVE ME. The place should be renamed The Cure. The service cured my suicidality, for instance. Remarkably, your pleasure is evidently their pleasure, which works out nicely for everyone. That a restaurant of this quality opened up in the neighborhood upon my moving elsewhere is reflective of my lot in life. Maybe these guys will open up a second place nearer to me called Lot Too? The wine and beer list is informed and impressive (that buzz-killing kitchen bar has been replaced by a bitchin bar, artisanal in nature; i think they now offer the hard stuff too). Do yourself a favor and order the clams. Rapture.

Lot 2 is a fantastic and long awaited addition to the South Slope. The green pea appetizer was fantastic, extremely fresh and, well, appetizing! For entrees we tried the chicken which was by far some of the best chicken I've had in a long time - roasted in the oven with gorgeous juices and perfectly crisp skin. The lamb sausage (I think it's cure in-house) was also excellent) and the 'lipstick on a pig' was refreshing and lovely, although it didn't have any lipstick on it. Great wines. Great ambiance. Overall a great restaurant.

Can't wait to go back to and try the 'neck 3 ways'.

Came here 2 weeks ago for Sunday and it was the perfect way to end the weekend. Scott's an excellent chef.

We ordered:
-Sweet Peas, Almonds and Lardo Butter on Toast: Where can I get some lardo butter of my own? Definitely came from a good pig.
-Lipstick on a Pig with Pickled Mushrooms: It's a nice change from liver pates. You could taste all the flavors of the tenderized slow cooked, congealed meat.
-Olive Oil Poached Cod, Melted Leeks & White Beans: Thankfully, I no longer follow the rule of not ordering fish on Sundays. I was so impressed by the freshness of the fish and its dense flesh quality. The leeks and white beans (first time with this creative combo to fish) enhanced the mild delicate flavor of the cod.
-Steamed Clams, Roasted Tomato, Fresh Chilies & Garlic Bread: Yes clams were good. But the best part should always be the broth and garlic bread, which indeed it was!
-Vanilla Cheesecake, Almonds, Blueberries: Could have honestly eaten the whole menu since it was so good-- but alas we decided to save room for dessert. Highlight was definitely the toasted almonds topped over the creamy cheesecake. So delish!

I'm confused why on earth anyone would miss Kitchen Bar with it's carnival of colors and inedible food, but OK, that's in the past and $2 sangrias are a persuasive argument. But how could anyone NOT be excited for a local place that has food as good as Al Di La (love) but close and no wait?

Maybe I'm just very grateful because I'm local and like that it's nice enough for a date but also for sidling up to the bar for a glass of wine.  But I'm pretty sure it's not just that: I'm pretty sure the place is warm and comfortable and the food is amazing and simple and delicious.

I can't believe I'm saying this as an adult, but try the buttered noodles.

Yes. Buttered noodles.

My wife and I recently ate at Lot 2. Which I now call Not A Lot 2. First- the good news- the food is very tasty and we both enjoyed the arugula salad and the buttered noodles and for dessert the cheesecake. Now the bad - the portions here are more on the tasting menu side and the cheesecake could fit in the palm of my hand. Size 7.  So, unless the the portions become more generous I won't be back for the second coming of the now defunct Little Dishes.

My Wife and I went here on friday night, and really had a nice time. It's a great setting in a beautiful neighborhood, and it's decorated like a farm house with beautiful exposed beams and nicely put together tables.  However, as yummy as our chicken entree was, my lamb entree was very much an appetizer. Also, their menu is quite short, leaving few options for the main course. That being said, the food was good, but not passable for the 50 dollar per person price (with one bottle of wine and a not so great cheesecake).

Lot 2 has the kind of food I love. Deceptively simple, creative, and conceived with a passion for ingredients. Crafting a sensual experience through food is something the folks at Lot 2 are already, right out of the gate, doing well and I expect the momentum will continue. I agree with other reviewers that the distinction between apps and entrees could be better defined on the menu, but if you simply ask the waiter they will guide you, as well as provide insight into ingredients and preparations without any lecturing. Perhaps that's the idea behind the menu design - promote a dialog, dunno but that's what happened for me. I had a few items - the "Neck 3 Ways" (a trio of neck meat: incredible house-cured lamb and pork and moist shredded duck), arugula salad with roasted and pickled beets (nice variation on a now ubiquitous salad option), and the olive oil poached (true) cod, which is a subtle, yet genius dish. Thankfully, the wacko decor and all the distractions of KitchenBar are gone. The space now feels warm and comfortable. I hope to join the "I'll take one of everything" club very soon.

Very solid.  The menu could use some expansion as I don't envision myself making a repeat visit until a new entree is added, as between the four of us who went (and shared!), we tried nearly all of  the dishes.  Huge fan of the chicken.  Perfectly cooked.  Perfectly seasoned.  Just flat out perfect.  The Slow and Low was a carnivores' delight, although I did find the jowl to be on the fatty side, so be prepared for heart attack paranoia as you fork your way through this dish.  Oh and appetizers - the Lipstick on a Pig, a mix of various cut up pieces of pork, was just ok.  Both salad offerings were fantastic.  Home made chocolate pudding for dessert was delicious and the mint lime ice is refreshing but lacks substance as it's literally just flavored shaved ice.   Drink menu - The wine list has some nice bottle/wine selections at reasonable prices but the beer selection could certainly use some bolstering.  Overall a great first impression.
