Great vibe here.  This place has definitely evolved since it opened as a "sister" bar to Lucky 13...

Love all of the album covers on the walls.  A pool table and pinball machines as well.  Patio in the back for smokers...

Friendly staff catering to a crowd of regulars, but new additions won't feel out of place.  Great place to watch a football game, but this definitely isn't a sports bar...

Been coming here to participate in the weekly pub trivia night on Wednesday's beginning at 9pm, come a bit early if you want a seat as there is not much room.  One improvement they could make is to not have the music blaring so loud between sets, its' a small space so it's nice if you are with friends to be able to hear each other without yelling.  Drinks are good and reasonably priced, they don't have food but they will let you bring in your own, or have agreement with the place across the way to order appetizers and bring them to you, which is cool.  Weekly trivia is really fun, 6 rounds of all sorts of questions, pics, etc.  Prizes are FREE DRINKS!  You can't get better than that.  If you want some good fun, check it out!

I was about to say 3 stars, but then I remembered the music, the records on the wall, and other retro paraphernalia all over the walls, and I realized this is a wonderful place.  If you have a rockabilly bone in your body (or want one ;) ) then this is the place for you.  You might hear country or Johnny Cash, and you might even have a guy tell you that you should turn around and come back because he just put Neil Diamond on the jukebox.  That dude must have been a TELEPATH because I wasn't wearing my Neil Diamond tee at the time. (yes, I own one and unfortunately only one)  We were on a Yelp Drinks Week mission, though, so I'm going to have to leave that particular joy to another night.

One day, I'm going to come back in the old Mustang, get a spot right out front, and go in and put Neil on the jukebox, and that, my friends, will be a 5-star day.

It's just ok...they have a little patio out back, pool table and a couple of pinball machines.

Drinks are cool. I'd go back again with a group of friends, not a spot I'd do on the solo tip.

If it means anything a little birdie told me that they filmed a porno here not too long ago. You still wanna shoot pool?? LOL!

Lost Weekend Lounge is a  compact bar, with a long counter, a juke box, tables for sitting, a pool car, a stage for karoake/singing, all kinds of forgetable memorabilia over the walls,
    .
nice draughts, full bar with mex drinks, designer vodkas, ... and oly or hamms in cans all day(2.50)

    on draught:
-sign in corner proclaims bar is "steeler country"
-not much room to move around should it get busy.
    -younger crowd...:
-lounge is  middle of downtown should you need a buzz and froyo doesn't do it for ya.

Lost Weekend is a chill place.
When I come here, I drink shots of tequila.
Alameda is a small town, so there are only a handful of bars I frequent.
I like to change it up every so often.

bartender didn't know how to make a whiskey sour, uhhh ok... i guess he made it up to me by basically giving me a glass of maker's mark over ice with a splash of sprite and a lemon wedge. classyyyyyy.

rock music was turned up super loud but when my friend went to the jukebox and put on one of drake's new tracks, it was turned down super low. he actually asked them to turn it up and they did for maybe 30 seconds and turned it back down super low again when nicki minaj's part came on. i thought it was pretty hilarious. yes we are black and yes the bartenders and almost everyone else in the bar was white. lmao. i'm not a big fan of that particular song so i didn't mind but i was like wow.

just go there and get wasted, after 2 of dude's maker's mark specials and safely sticking with white people music on the jukebox that i'm so inclined to shove money into when i get a buzz, i was having a pretty good time chatting it up with some good smelling lesbians and singing along to the green day and weezer tracks i chose to liven the place up a bit. enjoy!

Mixed feeling about this place. A watering hole? yeah, drunks kept wandering in and out. A dive bar? perhaps, odd groups here and there. A pick up joint? A guy make out with two girls, so you can call it that.

At the end, we walked out after one drink, they didn't have any special on tap, the shelf behind looked sad, nothing decent for sipping. And the clown masks all over were creepy. Will I go back? I think not.

so in my review of lucky 13 i said that there are only two good bars on park street and that lucky 13 was one of them and that i couldn't make up my mind for certain what the other one was. but i was really just being coy - it's Lost for sure.

lemme put it to you like this: if you like yourself a nice dive now and again, you will like this place. what you are looking at here is a small but somewhat cavernous space illuminated primarily by lava lamps and the static glow of old tv's. target demographic is younger dirty meda natives with a pronounced punk/rockabilly lean, or at least an inebriated slouch. that one dude is probably kicking someone's ass at pool. maybe you're out getting high on the back patio with some new friends. there might be a dog, there might not be a dog. couldn't tell you.

i miss the old jukebox (they have one of those touch-screen doo-dads that everybody seems to have now) but i do appreciate that they'll run you a plastic tab.

The first time I came here it was a lost weekend indeed, so, as much fun as it was, I had no right reviewing the place. All I remember is my tuxedo clad boyfriend getting a piggyback ride around the pool table from some stranger half his height while the guys friend and I were singing (if screaming is singing) a Descendents song at the top of our lungs. Oh, and the bartender giving us shots of Powers, and waking up the next morning in my boyfriends bed half undressed, and looking for my formal gown for a good 10 minutes before figuring out where it was discarded. Lost weekend indeed!

Well, I have since been back and realize that they have a juke box full of songs that kick ass, at least until I decide to destroy them with my sad attempts at singing. They have laid back bartenders who actually talk to the regulars and get to know them. They have a reasonable amount of seating between the bar and tables adjacent to the bar and the lighting is low with a tinge of red so you always look fabulous. They have an outdoor patio that is covered so even on a rainy day the smokers can drink and the drinkers can smoke without raindrops falling on their heads. They have a good selection of beer and a decent selection of booze and generous pours. They also have lots of lava lamps, though I do not know why.

This is a fine establishment in which to share a beverage with your favorite piggyback receiving partner in crime. However, if you hang out with people who don't accept piggyback rides from strangers or sing horribly and unabashedly after a few too many cocktails or moon walk in the middle of a bar then maybe this isn't the place for you.

    I am not impressed.

    Not really worth the hype.

It feels like a cool bar if you are a regular but otherwise stay out.

My date made the mistake of asking for a "scooby snack" and the hipster/rockabilly bartender laughed in her face.

I laughed at her too, but I am not in the service industry.

The place did have some character, and it was blasting some rocking tunes that give it a few stars.

Talent level ? Almost non existent on a Saturday night.

Uhhh, I thought this was a Bay Area, CA dive bar... turns out that, judging from our experiences, its a TX Trash one.

First time I came in here, sports were playing on the TV overhead & yuppies were everywhere you looked. Naturally I was repulsed, so I left.

(OK... seriously... SPORTS do Not belong in dive bars. Especially not ones aimed at looking/feeling punk rock hardcore dive-y!) Yuck!!

Second time I came in here (a few months later / recently) I decided, "Hey, let's give 'em a chance" which ended up to be a bad, bad mistake. No sports this time at least, but trashiness & bull shht up the butt? ..Yes.

Now, I'm not the biggest rockabilly fan.. but I don't mind it. That said, let's go through the list on this place:

--- Rude, snobby bartender? Check. (Why he was snobby I have no idea... dude.. you're a bar tender at an Alameda crappy excuse for a cool dive... you have no reason to act like you're the shht). He gave me attitude both when popping in to ask if they carried my fav. drink, then again when I came back in w/ the gf to order said drink... while I was always nice.

--- Annoying decor everywhere? Check. Adding to the trash factor was the country memorabilia all over the walls. I'm FROM Texas. If you wanna be T-X-Trashy, just move there. They'd welcome types who run or patronize this bar. I on the other hand left there to get away from that filth.

--- Loud, nasty, obnoxious, white trash drunk regulars yelling at the top of their lungs at other patrons for no apparent reason other than to possibly start a fight? Check! When one group started cracking "black" jokes, that was our queue to leave, especially being as my gf is half black...!

    * NOTE: It's funny how said bartender did nothing when the loud, clearly intoxicated buffoons who were yelling at others. Isn't that your queue to tell 'em to leave? Oh wait, I forgot: That bartender sucked. He was too busy trying to act like a cool 50's greaser.

So yeah. Overall, I'm very sad to see Alameda's "seemingly" coolest bar be such garbage. I'd totally rather spend 20 minutes BARTing up to the city than put up w/ crap like that.

I'd say the *only* thing going for this place is... hmm let me think... I guess the color scheme was kinda cool (blue & red lights). From walking by I would have guessed (nay.. HOPED) this place would be so cool.. it had so much potential.. but sadly, it is quite the disappointment.

    Bottom Line....

... Avoid LWL unless you like a drunken white trash infestation of regulars rocking out to some metal, overlooked by a wannabe @$$hole rockabilly bartender, in a dive that looks Mission District cool from far away but feels like a Southern crapper at its best when you make the horrid mistake of walking inside.

(But if the above sounds good to you, by all means, go there! I'd say the meat-head types who love fellow Alameda crapper Yo! Philly's would prob. love this dump.)

Alameda, come out with an actually cool dive bar / venue! We really need it!

Lost Weekend - through the past 3 years:

First time I arrived , the rockabillies were everywhere. Some bands were setting up to play. Pin up girls with creepers, Dudes with funny Marx bro mustaches, bartenders that were serious and pouring PBR and shots of whiskey for the pomade lovas.

Second time I passed by with Stella the Aussie. The buzzed bartender and her friends conversed with me for a good 10-15 minutes. You can't deny good people, with good intentions. " Bring your dog in! We're dog friendly." ...Stella kisses as many Loungers as possible and everyone feels warm inside like towards the end of " Love, Actually." I say " sure, next time"

Third time I roll in I chat with that same bartender, she remembers me, I drink, we laugh, minimal crowd. I think " I need to come here more often, this a different vibe from the rest of the Island. "

Fourth time I come in, with out of town friends, and it's like 15 dudes inside drinking. A drunk local who had perhaps seduced a moonshine whiskey tequila soaked shooter 15 times over says " You'll find girlsh at La Pinata"... He's wrong, but he has  a good attitude and is nice. I give him a high-five and I''m off...

Nonsense, and no nonsense, the metrosexual yups needs not apply, or would even understand the world of Lost Weekend.... a place I don't fully understand quite yet, but am willing to.

Yeah, this is my home bar. It gets four stars because Treis pours heavy and likes to scream the word "douchebayg"...yeah, there's a 'y' in there.

Patio is good for smokers. They cover it in winter to you can still smoke out there, but it because a hot box and you reek afterward.

The rockabilly kids are all decent people....even to the non-rockabilly. There are however, a lot of rock-a-belly's, but like I said, Treis pours heavy, so you don't mind.

Cash only and the Long's drug ATM is on shut down. So come with cash-in-hand.

We saw the Lounge walking down Park Street, disappointed with the downtown Alameda bar scene, after coming out of the Hobnob.

My sweet lady was skeptical about the place, but I turned her around, looked her in the face and said, "Come on Honey, we for one, should never judge anything by it's cover".

Once I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the 50's diner-esque atmosphere. The checkerboard floor was super boss! The counter tops and diner stools were supermurgitroid. Our gimlets were small but strong. Ya dig!

Lost Weekend's cool, funky vibe, erased the snooty, over pretentious feel we got from the Hobsnob.

Great name for a dive.  I was stoked to find out that this was the local watering hole for my buddy who had moved on the island.

Totally fit him cuz it's tiny and everybody seemed to know one another (he's a bit chatty).  They have beers on tap and pours respectable drinks by tatted bartenders.  They have a CD jukebox (one of the few remaining) that is pretty much the owners personal CD collection, almost exclusively punk/indie/80's alternative.  And not but least, they allow dogs inside, so the master can take a detour, tilt a few whilst supposedly "taking a walk" with Sparky.  He told me to throw in an extra star for that, so bam there it is.

I think this place is a gas.  Cheap, strong drinks, good tunes, generous smoking area-- what more could you want in a dive?

It's certainly not a place I'd go for fashion approval unless I was a rockabilly, but it's not the same old bay-area hipster vs. yuppie thing and that is quite refreshing.

Our girl Astraea has forced us to find places that are both fun & puppy-friendly. Last night on a whim, we took the pup for a walk (to wear her out) and to grab a shot & a beer (to wear us out...)

This is only the second time we've been in and so far it has been a super-good time each night. It may have been the cute pup with us, but everyone was friendly, folks nearby introduced themselves & played with the dogs. In fact, I think Astraea has a little crush on that giant great dane she was playing with!

The staff is patient with the dogs, they are happy to give you some water or ice and everyone made us feel like regulars from the second we got there.
For a dive bar (which it is-you can smell the bar smell about a half a block up the street if the door is open) it's pretty clean, even the bathroom. Your shoes don't stick to the floor and the drinks are decently priced and a solid pour. Other bonuses include a pool table & a rocking juke box with lots of old country, hard rock & punk.

Overall, I have a feeling we'll be spending more time at the 'lost weekend', especially as Astraea LOVES the attention she gets and she can't seem to get enough! Also, we can't stand to go out without her, so it's a good thing there's the 'lost weekend' to suit us all. i can see this place becoming a regular & fun hangout for all 3 of us!

Hella-meda is one of the last places to still find Rock-a-Sillies outside of Southern California. And this bar is filled with 'em. So eat your heart out if you like that sort of thing.

Or you could also hang out with "punk-as-fashion" crowd. Yup. Really into those guys.

And Treis is rude as fock to me everytime I've ever been there. Get over yourself! Why do you need to roll you eyes before making ANY drink that's not a shot or a beer?

    1. I'd go here more often if I didn't have even odds of encountering one of the two bartenders who is a total flaming dick; since I don't go here more often I don't know which nights the other all-awesome bartenders work. CATCH-22! Which is too bad because they've got a pretty good bar, good music, fun clientele, and a stylin' space.

    2. The drinks are a bit on the high end price-wise for being a "dive". [Though it is way too clean to be called such IMO.]

    3. Minus another star because the toilet in the ladies flushes as loudly and as suddenly as a gunshot and scares the crap out of me every time.

Drinks be stroooong here. WoooooooooOooOOooo .....

Ditto to pretty much what all the other reviews say - the atmosphere is nicely dive-ish, it's clean-ish, DJs spin some great-ish tunes on the weekend, the patrons are friendly-ish, bartender pours heavy (no "-ish" for that yo) and watches out for you when your glass is empty, blahblahblahbleh.

Oh yeah, and the patio area makes me wish I was a smoker.

Ditto on the expanding recommendations, there's always some drunkards hogging the pool table. I want to be that drunkard, damn it. Buuuut yeah, they do a good job with the space they got, so screw it, 5 stars cause I dunno how else this bar can be improved with what they got.

    *****

My new neighborhood bar.  Damn, I like this place!  Great beer selection, and I have spent many, many hours coveting the original 1985 Colt 45 Billy Dee Williams "Works Every Time" sign above the door (probably worth about $1K on eBay right now, in my eBay whore esteem).  Nice area in back for smoking and such...or just sitting outside on a warm summer day, which actually *happens* in Alameda, unlike stupid cold San Francisco.  Love the jukebox, too.  Not many places where you can play some Pixies and then some G&R and then some Pat Benetar and then some old bad KISS and then some local rockabilly.

"What brand?"  "You know what brand...the cheapest!"
Just one visit to this place and I'm in puppy love.  Solid drinks, great music on the juke, smoking patio out back, and the bar decor is exactly what I would have in my home if I had a fully-equipped bar ( and if I weren't wary of over-abusing my already tender liver).

You know, there are a couple of things going against this place:  the location and the pretentious rockabilly staredown when you enter in something other than Bettie Page bangs or floods and Chucks.  But you know what? I love those crazy 'Billy kids!  They're so serious about their  look and lifestyle, it's really rocka-endearing.

To you folks who get more nervous than a virgin at a prison rodeo trying a place where everyone doesn't look and act just like you...grow a pair.

This is a great Bar...I do not frequent as often as I would like do the small area which is packed with so many people that you can barely move on some nights.  I am claustrophobic...

That's a complement to the live bands, cools ass people and great patio if you can make it there early enough to find a place to sit your ass.

I only give it four stars because I think they should knock out the wall in the bike shop next door and take it over so I can frequent more often...

I've only been here a handful of times, but every time has been pleasant.  My most recent experience was on a random Monday.  I'd been going through that shitty aftermath of a breakup and wound up driving around, being sad and eventually crying.  I decided to go to Lost Weekend, despite that I was wearing my gym attire.  No one looked at me weird when I walked in.  The place was pretty empty, there were people playing pool, and the bartender immediately greeted me and took my drink order.

I was able to sit by myself without any sleazy weirdos approaching me.  Eventually the bartender began talking to me, and he was really awesome.  At the end of the night, I tipped him, and asked for a hug because I had been feeling so shitty.  Much to me delight, he came out from behind the bar and gave me a hug.

I also spent a NYE here.  It must have been the year I turned 21.  The decor was awesome, and even though I was overdressed the crowd was awesome.  Most everyone was low-key and mellow, which I didn't mind at all.  There were good drinks.

This place always has clean bathrooms, and there's a cool jukebox.  There's also this awesome DJ, Boomer.  I know him personally, and he's quite funny.  He might talk shit to you, but it's in good humor.  He is rad.

My favorite bar in Alameda..which isn't really saying much, considering anyone who knows me knows I HATE Alameda bars. I have my reasons. But for LW as a bar alone, it's pretty freakin awesome. I love the vibe in there, the usually empty pool tables, the choice of classic rock and monster ballads, the patio out back, the heavy handed pouring, the Belgian beers...am I missing anything here? Oh, and I LOVE that I run into a different kind of crowd here. Maybe it's because it's off Park St. and most Alamedans don't even know where it is.

LW, you're really a four star bar, but since you so generously let us run in and grab party hats, blowers and free champagne last night before stumbling down the street, I have to bump you up to five stars.

Five stars for keeping me up at night with screams of "you hoe, come back here!" Haha...  Nice outdoor area and a good crowd most of the time... for Alameda that is...

DJs are good and bad, live bands are normally good and loud.  They have delerium tremens by the bottle here!  Much more hipster vibe than Lucky one three.

I like the loudness.  Keep up that for sure.

Ah the el-dub.  Been closin' this place since it opened seein' hows it's one of th' few non-sports bars on th' island.  Stiff drinks and no bullshit attitude are a combo that's hard to beat.  Yes, there are quite a few 'billies hangin' out but they mostly keep to themselves (not inna
stuck-up way but more of a leave-me-alone-can't-you-see-I'm-tryin-to-get-liqu ored way). Forget th' lava lamps, we come for th' Colt 45 ad featuring Mr. Billy Dee Williams and his memorable quote 'Works EVERY time!' 4 stars because unlike other Alameda bars, they don't open at 6am

Ahh so that's what that style is called, Rockabilly. Well actually I take it back, Rockabilly is not a style, it's a way of life. This bar, has that Rockabilly swag.  Rockabilly is that 1950's style, Johnny Cash, Bettie Paige, Hot Rods, etc. Yup, you can find it here and be taken back for a night at this lounge.

I'm not a regular, I'm not even a local, but I can say that everyone was super friendly in the back patio and I think I might just have to put some Johnny Cash in my ipod now.

I was pretty underwhelmed by this place.  Keep in mind: I was here at approx 6pm on a Sat.  And the music was really loud/boring (Scorpions/metallica-ish) & then there were a group of very vocal guys sitting around & talking (you know when a group of guys tries to out-volume each other?).

So I thought this place was really average.  Could be exceptional, though, on other days/times.

Eh. I mean, this place is awesome if you're already a regular; if you walk in, and folks greet you by name and make room for you at the bar. If you're NOT a regular, be prepared to stroll in and be greeted with curious looks, perhaps a few disdainful ones as well. I'm NOT saying that everyone there is "clique-y", but my friends and I did all feel like we'd magically been transported back to a high school dance or something similarly awkward, each time we decided to check out the place. I.e., if you're not part of the cool crowd, well then, man, you're just not cool....

Two stars, though, because aside from some of the patrons acting silly, the staff has always been cool; and it's got a rockin' outside smoke patio (if you like to be fenced in with enough second-hand smoke to spontaneously develop an ugly lung affliction). Word.

Even on an off night, this place is probably more fun than most spots on a good night.  Lost weekend was a blast even though it was surprisingly dead on a Friday night.  The bartender was great, but the DJ was way too BADASS for any mortal eardrums!  Flawless mixing and mashups of classic jams.  Plus a little Q. Lazarus is never a bad idea (you know what I'm talking about).

The vibe was positive and noone tried to hate on any one else's good time.  There was also a decent smoking patio out back.  Definitely a blue collar bar which makes the drinking experience here feel all the more genuine.  A good compliment/alternative to lucky 13 around the way.  I'll be back when I embark on my next Alameda misadventure.

I've written a review of LW once before when I was brand new to Alameda but I think it deserves yet another review. This has become my favorite local bar. It's just a few blocks from my house.

Over the last two months I've been bringing my little pug, Junebug to Lost Weekend with me. It's the only bar in town that allows dogs. The bartenders are always so nice and friendly.

Danny always greeted us with a big smile. He would give Junebug a glass of water and biscuits. He's awesome. Donna was as sweet as could be to my pup and would hold her and give her so much love. She said my doggie was the sweetest dog ever. There is another guy that works here but I don't know his name. He's always been friendly too.

My poor little dog died yesterday. I stopped in LW for a drink. Danny was so sympathetic when I told him what happened.

Yes, this is the type of bar that seems to have "regulars" but they've always been so warm and welcoming to me and my dog. I've befriended a few of the regulars and they are fun, friendly and interesting. (Say hi to Jess if you run into her here. She's a bartender at another local bar but is usually hanging around LW late at night. She's incredibly nice.)

    What a f**king dive.

    j/k

I love this place for the familiar faces I always see if I should stop in, and the great martinis - always served.   My little bartender is great ;) and I have sooooooo many memories of this place.

They should have a better music selection but thats okay ;)

Last week after an exhausting trip through the various shopping districts in  the East Bay I teamed up with my friend Scott and was on my way to getting a nice cold cocktail.

We stopped at a few bars in Emeryville and downtown Oakland all to no avail.  I guess no one wants to get a drink at 3 on a Friday?  REALLY?

So, Scott and I trek on to the island that is Alameda.  Descending on 'Lost Weekend' for some much needed drinks.  I have to admit that I was in such alcoholic withdrawal that I didn't care if the bartender opened my bottle of Bud with her armpit (she didn't) so I wasn't paying too much attention when I walked in.  After my first chug of said Bud I began taking in the scenery, I don't remember much but I do know that there were a ton of lava lamps here and a smoking patio in the back where Scott and I enjoyed most of our afternoon.

The thing about Lost Weekend that is especially odd is that I think that the drinks are all roofied.  Scott and I are seasoned drinkers.  We each had about 5 drinks in the two hours that we were there.  This is about 50% of my top drinking speed, nothing special at all.  Here is where it gets weird, both Scott and I were plastered when we left.  I mean, stumbling through the street kind of wasted.  It was surreal.  I felt like I was in 8th grade again.  Lost Weekend... what are you doing to those drinks?
