So after an evening of bar hopping in downtown LG, my friend and I opted for a nice (hung over) brunch. I had been to LG Cafe once before and enjoyed it, so thought I would try again. My friend Kim, was nasty hung over, and really didn't want to wait to be seated. But- they had coffee available while you waited to be seated so that really helped us both. We sat outside, lots of dogs and families passing us by, so that kept us busy commenting on which dogs and kids were actually cute.
When we were called, the staff was super nice. We wanted to be seated quickly and the hostess asked us if we mind sitting at the counter. We were IN! The service was great, friendly, professional, quick, and I was extremely impressed. I ordered some sort of spinach omelet and Kim ordered a vegetarian scramble. Delicious! We shared a cinnamon role (NOTE: the cinnamon rolls are what they are known for, but they are HUGE! one roll is good for 4 people- trust me). The potatoes on the side of the entree are also delicious. The orange juice is Odwalla and the coffee is good.
Pretty much the whole experience was great! Kim is from SF, so this was my way of impressing her bc we usually go to SF for brunch. In other reviews people said they didn't like waiting, but you guys got it good in the South Bay, in SF there is NO WAY you can hit a word-of-mouth, hole in the wall spot without a line out the door. We have waited upwards of an hour to be seated at other places. This wait was maybe 15 minutes. Relax, it's 15 minutes of coffee and conversation, which is definitely worth the wait!!
Good coffee, good food.
The Reuben doesn't come with Thousand Island dressing (?) and the balsamic vinaigrette isn't very good. Its a little cramped and doesn't take credit cards.
Staff is friendly and attentive. Better for breakfast than lunch.
Surprised at the crowd for a random Fri morning. We were seated immediately, but there was like one empty table. Hadn't even settled into our seats before we were given water and offered coffee. For what it's worth, and to me it's a big plus, our water cups were refilled constantly and unobtrusively.
Started off with a cinnamon bun. Ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. I subbed this for the toast that came with my meal. Do it.
Our meals came out extremely quickly. Since we were headed to Big Basin for a short hike, this was much appreciated. And though the service was quick, I never felt rushed.
I had the crab (with tomato, avocado, *maybe* mushrooms but I can't remember) omelette. Fluffy and flavorful with an abundance of fresh-tasting ingredients. It comes covered in hollandaise sauce, which I could've done without, but if you like that sort of thing, it was good. The herb potatoes made the meal. Crispy and suuuper yummy. My breakfast companion had pancakes and scrambled eggs. Typical, which isn't a bad thing for such an unimaginative choice.
In terms of atmosphere, as expected for a diner. Don't expect a quiet, romantic meal and you'll like it just fine.
Two notes, one more important than the other: CASH (or personal check) ONLY!! Also, they had a back door open and it was freezing in there. Not sure if that's the norm, but I suggest you bring a sweater or a scarf or something just in case.
A great breakfast place for weekends but always has a large queue (20+) outside. Get in line and take a 30min walk downtown!
A good weekend starts out with breakfast at the LG Cafe.
We usually have to wait for a table, but it's so worth it. I have to get some of those addictive potatoes with my omelet or scramble.
Yummmmmmmmmm. Really nice staff, quick service (once you get in, that is!).
Believe the hype. This is as good as breakfast gets. I'm sure those who willingly wait for more than 30 minutes on a Sunday morning would agree.
On paper, the unprepossessing establishment's offering was not overly impressive. Omelets, eggs benedict, two eggs and protein, french toasts, sandwiches, et al. Nothing that other breakfast joints don't have.
When the food came, and they came in no time, they were definitely quality. I couldn't remember the last time I finished everything on my plate (*oink*): corned beef hash, eggs over easy, and suspicious -looking (due to its bright yellow color) yet MOST HEAVENLY herb potatoes - which meant to be a side dish but ended up stealing the show.
And oh, cash only. Guess it keeps the price down.
Excellent food.. very good service. Love their toast with preserves too. I never wake up early but have been there twice around 7.00am just to eat their breakfast. Their potatoes are yummy and eggs were always made right!
Breakfast done right. That should be the motto here. Whatever you order, it will be good. Love how the jam is not little single serving containers, but a big, hearty, made at home kind of deal. Their signature herb potatoes are made with turmeric, mmm, mmm delicious.
Omelets are one of the best things on the menu, I rarely stray from them. For a little splurge try the raspberry coffee cake, it's sweet simplicity is a perfect companion to a hot cup of coffee while your breakfast is being made. Go early, don't wait; this is a small place and Everyone in town knows it's great!
Great place for breakfast. We were driving through Los Gatos on the way to Santa Cruz and had lunch with some friends here.
The menu is AWESOME. As someone who loves a good, hearty, farm-friendly breakfast, this place satisfied my bacon and egg appetite. There is so much from which to choose, it's very difficult trying to decide what to eat!
There's really not much more to add than what has already been said. The service is great, the food comes out quick, there's good energy in the place, and the prices are right.
Although I don't know the other breakfast/brunch spots in Los Gatos (which, by the way is one of my favorite towns in California), Los Gatos Cafe is a great option for breakfast if you're in the area or driving through on the way to Santa Cruz.
Ok...let me start by saying the omelets are ok...but as far as a spot for a quick lunch....nope!
The hostess was less than enthused to seat my party of two. She dropped the menus on the table, then took off as if she needed to get back to whatever we so rudely interrupted.
15 minutes later, our server came to take our order. He had the Western Bacon Cheeseburger and I had the Patty Melt.
Another 20 minutes passed and our food arrived. The portions are enough to feed a small army. Our food was delivered without a word, and the server just took off - No extra napkins? No ketchup or mustard? We couldn't get her attention to ask for these things, so we just ate our meal.
He liked his burger well enough...but my patty melt was uninspiring. While the patty part was a perfect medium rare, the onions were not grilled...they were slimy, as if they'd been oiled up and put on low heat for a few minutes.
All in all, it took us just over an hour from seated to paying the check...It only took us 2 minutes to decide on what to eat, and about 15 minutes to eat it.....that's a lot of waiting.
All would have been forgiven if just one of the staff even cared that we were there, but they all seemed slightly annoyed to have customers.
Excellent breakfast place.
It's small, but has a nice style which lends to the atmosphere of the area. The place is very busy, at least on weekends, but they move people in and seat them with very nice efficiency. The crowd was spilling well into the sidewalk and our group of 5 was still seated in a good 15 minutes.
Once we were in, the place felt small but not claustrophobically so, even with a packed room. The staff is constantly moving about the place, and got us ordered and drinks served in good order.
The food was terrific, and again we got it very quickly. I had a simple bacon, cheddar, egg meal with a simple coffee. It was well made, tasted great, and in very generous servings. I got to try some of the poached eggs that they serve, and those were quite good as well.
Overall it was just a good experience. The place isn't really pricy, they serve excellent food, and they are fast and courteous while you're there.
This is a very good breakfast spot to hit up if you're in the area, I highly recommend it to anyone.
Where was my english muffin in my eggs benedicts? :(
I literally looked underneath my pile of yummy food that I was just served with like a little girl. I dug underneath with my fork to see maybe the bread part of my eggs benedict was pancaked! But there were none! Otherwise the crab cakes benedicts were delicious. What made them delicious were the fresh crab cakes ( may i add it huge portions ) and their DELICIOUS hollandaise sauce. Poured all over my eggs.. just enough for me to even dip my cakes with even more sauce. The eggs were poached to perfection! On the side of the plate were the herbed potatoes! Green squared things that looks so healthy but so good! You can taste the quality and flavor they added in while making it. Great addition to my breakfast indeed!
I sat on the outdoor patio that sunny morning and was able to glimpse at cute dogs walking by. They have a good amount of seating outside and inside! Service was quick and friendly! Parking can be a pain around the area so look behind the alleys!
Love this place. Can't wait to go back.
Food : Really Good, especially the Omelets
Atmosphere: Mostly Seniors, a lot of Old people. Small but worth it.
Service: Good
Price: Cheap (about $10 for omelet and it comes with herb potatoes which are delicious and your choice of Bread or Muffin)
Only thing... you have to get there early ..... if not long wait and long line.
4.5 stars
Parking is a little difficult because you have to find it on the street. Fyi, it is cash only. The Copenhagen pancake is delectable! I know Copenhagen is a city but I did not know Copenhagen meant it was a crepe... which actually make sense because the description said the pancake was "filled with raspberries and cream". Mmmm. Thinking about it makes my mouth water! Added a side of sausages and I was surprised that they gave 6. The fajita egg soufflé was too fluffy...the texture made it weird to eat and the carrot cake walnut had more zing than I prefer.
After letting the dogs play at the dog park for a while, Nam N. and I headed to Los Gatos Cafe for brunch. I had heard many great things, and had this place on my "To Try" list for forever. I was quite excited!
My favorite brunch item is eggs benedict, so I of course ordered one of their many benedicts. The crab cake benedict was my choice came with the eggs on the crab cakes instead of the the muffin. Although the crab cakes, avocado, and eggs were delicious, I found myself disappointed wanting some bread to sop up all the gooey goodness! The best part of the meal was the potatoes! Ask for them to be fried extra crispy, and you'll be devouring the Yukon Gold goodness!!
Extra star for having a patio and being dog friendly! I would return to Los Gatos Cafe again. Nonetheless, my favorite brunch choices are still in the city!
Favorite: Crabcake Benedict and Apricot French Toast
This is my favorite breakfast place in the bay area. Little/no waiting before 10 am.
- Fast service
- Friendly staff
- Delicious Food / broad selection
- Good portion
- Fairly priced
The boys were having a Dudes Weekend so Carol L. and I got together to take the pups to the park and grab some brunch. Per her suggestion, we decided to fill our tummies at the Los Gatos Cafe.
Like most brunch places these days, we had a little bit of a wait, especially since we needed outdoor seating for the pups. Once we were seated I took a look at their HUGE menu and saw that they had a TON of stuff! All kinds of breakfast goodies such as souffle omelets, scrambles, pancakes, baked goods, and tons more. I chose the California Benedict and per our server's suggestion, got my seasoned potatoes extra crispy.
We got our food pretty quickly after ordering and dove right in. My Benedict was pretty tasty--hollandaise sauce was good. However, I prefer how Bill's Cafe serves their CA Benedict with crispy bacon as opposed to LGC's Canadian bacon. I think the Canadian bacon didn't provide enough texture contrast as I would have liked. The potatoes, however, were DELISH! SUPER crispy Yukon Gold Potatoes--YUM!
3.5 stars for me.....next time, I've got to try their MONDO sized cinnamon roll :) They looked divine!
Los Gatos Cafe will forever be my favorite breakfast spot.
I was disappointed the first time I had the Benedict here, it was snotty on the white part and i can't eat it undercooked. I would rate the Benedict 1 star.
The potatoes were the BEST I have had anywhere (5 star potato).
My friend made me come back and I am so glad I did. Turns out I ordered the wrong thing before.
Order an Omelet!!
Seriously the best omelet I have ever had in my life. Fluffy as a cloud! I don't know how they do it!! I had a green chili omelet and even the leftovers were divine!\
It is TEN stars the omelet!
Cash Only, minus one star for that and the bad eggs Benedict. Most items on the menu were $8.95.
There is no bloody mary or mimosa, or alcohol. Disappointing.
Also I saw a cinnamon bun at the table next to us that could feed a small village! It looked so good!
All I can say is HOLY CRAP! Why haven't I been here before?? Visited the Los Gatos Cafe twice last week (thanks to a friends suggestion). I never thought I'd give a breakfast joint five stars, but they got it with ease.
The menu has so many tough choices! Southwestern Soufflé Omelette, Apricot Bread French Toast, Strawberry Pancakes, Raisin Bread French Toast, The Scramble, on and on. My wife and I spotted a huge cinnamon roll on it's way to another table and couldn't resist. We split it and were in heaven, we each ate a quarter and brought half home. It was hot, soft and buttery. The second time, we went with the Raspberry Coffee Cake - Mmmmmmm!!!
The first time, I went with the California Eggs Benedict with Herb Potatoes. It was magical!! I'm a huge Benedict man, and this was the best ever. The hollandaise was amazing, eggs perfectly poached, and avacado the perfect pairing. The Herb Potatoes blew my world. Fried with onions to a crunch - I've heard loads of butter and a pinch of curry is the secret. Call it unbelievable, but I rank this the best a.) potatoes and b.) Eggs Benedict I've ever had. I'll call that a clean sweep!!
The second time I went with The Scramble - Herb Potatoes, three eggs, bacon, green onion, mushrooms scrambled together and topped with the chronic hollandaise... AMAZING!! The homemade english muffin didn't hurt either.
Great service, nice prices, and perfect location. Downside is cash only and super crowded on the weekends.
Apricot French Toast is excellent (see my photo). Comes with three thick pieces and the apricots are wedged between the bread. The bread is hard on the outside since it has caramelized sugar on it and the inside is soft. Very good and fluffy.
Lumberjack breakfast was ok (see my photo). Sausage and eggs are the same as they are everywhere.
Service is ok. Lots of young kids serving in black and white uniforms that I thought was cute. Cash only.
Would come back again just for the Apricot French Toast. We are going to try the eggs benedict next time. The Mexican Flag burrito looked good too.
I was heading to Saratoga and searched Yelp for a breakfast / brunch place to head to before our destination. Low and behold Los Gatos Cafe came up with 4.5 stars with 200 some reviews. THIS must be the place to try out.
We drove up and saw a crowd of people waiting to be seated, this must be it. Ordered the South of the Board, the Papa Santa Cruz and pancakes. I don't know how they do it, but their Omelette Souffle is AWESOME. It is light, airy and huge!
Service was excellent, but you need to bring CASH. They don't accept credit cards.
SO,
I woke up 07/15/2009 after my softball game at twin creeks, called my twin brother and sked him to ride with me to help me watch the twins and assist me..you know men at work...
when we make our journy here i asked my brother to order his meal and then mine( i had 2 orders and the baby's cant eat they are 3 months) i go in to pay the lady at the chashiers box thought she was seeing doubles (cause my brother is my twoin too)
SO, anyways me hungover i oreder the crab ommy and the crab benedict....wow....this place is a HIDDEN GEM !!!
For all ommy lovers this is MECCA
I have to say, I'm really tempted to give this place 5 stars because the food is very consistent and I've eaten a broad range of menu items to give this a full review.
Their Cinnamon rolls are one of the best rolls you can find and I'm not a cinnamon roll fan. They serve strawberry shortcake and walnut carrot bread that just makes your mouth savoring for more.
If you're a eggs Benedict fan because of the hollandaise sauce then this is the place for you. Every so often my counterpart says to me, "Let's go to Los Gatos cafe." Problem with that is that their is always a line to get in to eat.
If you are looking for just a bacon, eggs and toast place please don't go here because you can get that anywhere. If you're looking for omelette's, eggs benedict and good weekend specials. This is the place to go for your palette.
My husband came here for lunch and swore it off entirely but I had gotten several good reports about their breakfasts. So we gave it a go. Breakfast was satisfying and their egg skillet things were pretty good. Prepare to leave stuffed.
Came here with a local Los Gatos friend last Friday to eat brunch. Place was not packed as times that I have seen it before. Nobody waiting outside, so we came in and promptly got seats in a few minutes. After looking over the menu carefully and being stunned by the choices of "special" items. I had decided on the Eggs Alexandria, but questioned what Canadian Bacon was. Damn, I should have actually asked the server that. My friend got the Eggs Benedict which also included the Canadian Bacon.
Got the food within 10 minutes, you can really tell this is a turn and burn place. But the dish looked nice with those two perfectly poached eggs. Everything was great, but the Canadian Bacon. After eating, my friend and I decided it was too heavy. It didn't sit too well with me either, making me later feel slightly "head achy." Almost what you feel like after MSG, which was probably similar to what was in that Canadian Bacon. It basically seemed like a piece of Ham about a quarter inch think.
If I was to come back to this place ever again, I would order a special item that didn't have Canadian Bacon on it. If you are a discerning eater, please take my advice.
Probably one of the best places to grab brunch in the South Bay.
Huuuuge huge portions, deliciously seasoned potatoes, and a fairly extensive brunch menu. The only downside is probably the wait and maybe the location if you don't live that close by. A perfect place for brunch if you're heading south to Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, etc.
I got the California Benedict and my friend got the Crab cakes benedict. Both were really good and totally drenched in yummy Hollandaise. Despite being Father's Day, the wait for 2 was only 10-15mins, so we went for a short walk nearby. Street parking is pretty easy.
I came here once before when my siblings were in town and it was just as good as I remember. Some of the brunch items will let you pick a bakery item. Definitely get the coffee cake! OMG, it's sooo good and they give you a HUGE piece. :P
Part 2/6 of $200 Date Day:
After getting lost in the woods, we worked up a big appetite. We arrived at LGC around 12:45pm on Saturday, and did not have to wait at all. For a breakfast spot, I was disappointed not to find chicken fried steak on the menu.
Right when we were seated, the waitress came and poured coffee for us. I didn't want any, but she poured it for both of us anyways.
Hubby ordered the flank steak w/ sunnyside up eggs, potatoes, and a bagel. I ordered the 3 sausage omelet, with potatoes, and an english muffin. We both ordered our potatoes extra crispy.
Unfortunately, the only really great thing here was the potatoes. Everything else was just ok. Breakfast food isn't difficult to make, so when we go out for it, it should be something we can make better at home. My omelet just had huge chunks of sausage in it. It wasn't fluffy or anything, just kind of clumpy. Hubby's meat tasted like it was marinated in teriyaki sauce. Nothing spectacular.
When we got our bill, it came out to $26. They charged us $2 each for really really watery coffee, even though i didn't want coffee myself, and didn't touch the cup she poured.
Maybe their lunch menu is better, since we saw people around us ordering lunch, but for now, I wouldn't come back here.
You should get here early so you don't have to wait in line, since they don't take reservations. I'm not a morning person usually but let me tell you I will BECOME a morning person only so that I can eat breakfast here and not wait in line, because the food is that good. If you do see a line, have no fear. The restaurant provides free coffee outside so that you can sit underneath the sun while you wait for a table. Such a great idea!
The omelettes are superb. They are light but still flavorful. They provide HUGE serving sizes. The best part is that you can create your own and it's probably even cheaper than the price you pay for what they've already created on the menu.
I love the vegetable scramble and eggs benedict. They have a variety of eggs benedict too for the vegetarian or vegan, which I like. The coffee cake is so good. =) Do not even get me started on their hashbrowns - seasoned perfectly, crispy and slightly burnt on the outside and delicious starch on the inside. YUM - I can't stop coming back.
Remember to bring cash!! They don't accept credit cards here.
Yelpers, I love it when you're right.
Sorry Stacks. Sorry Bill's Cafe. Sorry Bobbi's, Counrty Inn, Country Gourmet, and Flames.
Los Gatos Cafe is the best breakfast place in the Bay Area.
FOOD: Yes, the potatoes. They were crunchy on the top, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, with just a hint of yellow curry - how unique. Yes, the raspberry coffee cake. Moist, buttery cake with an amazing cinnamon crumbly topping. But mostly, MOSTLY, yes the hollandaise sauce. I normally dislike hollandaise because ... it's just. too. much. Too fatty or too oily, too thin or too salty, too thick or too yucky. But Los Gatos' hollandaise was delicious. It was tasty. It was yummy. It was from the hollandaise Gods. (I do recommend that you order the hollandaise on the side so you can control how much you put on)
I ordered the California benedict and the Los Gatos Cafe staff is cool with substitutions. Yay for making (A) my life easier and (B) making my breakfast dreams come true. I subbed the "canadian ham" on my benedict with "linguica." It was seriously the best eggs' benedict I've ever had. Sausage? Good. Plenty of fresh avocado slices? Good. Hollandaise? Duh. Good. HOMEMADE ENGLISH MUFFIN? GOOD!
The bf ordered the Mexcian Flag special which was basically their potatoes on top of their black bean chili smothered with cheese, chorizo, FRESH salsa, avocado, and sour cream. Seriously, that salsa tasted like it came from the garden out back. And they sure do know how to season their stuff at the LGC!
ATMOSPHERE: Accepts only cash. Expect a wait. I'd recommend sitting outside (less crowded, noisy, smelly). My water glass was never empty. Always got a genuine smile. Nice folks!
Probably one of the best breakfast places in the South Bay. My only issue with the place is how crowded it gets. Their omelets are amazing.
One of the best places for brunch EVER!
Today was my first visit to Los Gatos and was welcomed with a great meal to such a quaint town. I LOVE it!
I had the crabcakes that were topped with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce with some of the most amazing hash browns ever. I don't know what they put in that hash browns mixture, but it sure is addicting. Oh, I also had a side of bacon. I got to taste my friends' strawberry shortcake, coffee cake, and eggs Alexandria. Everything was superb...even the super attentive service by our waitress. I've become a fan and will definitely return when I'm back in this town.
Holy Cinnamon Roll. The eggs, omelette and potatoes were all tasty and dandy, but Holy C-Roll. It's delivered with a knife stuck in the center, it's that serious.
I like everything but the cinnamon roll. The potatoes are cooked perfect. The other food is very good AVOID THE Cinnamon Roll. It looks so good but it is stale and hard..not eatable. The coffee tasted better last visit.?? ....The bacon is good the eggs are good.....the crab is good...the Swedish pancakes are to die for. I would like to see on the menu...2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, and Swedish pancake. Call it the LG Combo.
I'm a little concerned with the cleanliness, I witnessed the bus guy drop a spoon on the chair then put it back on the table, then he wiped his nose on his sleeve....he was pretty gross.
The ONE and ONLY flaw of this place is they only accept cash. That's right CASH ONLY. -_-
I came here from brunch-ish today. It wasn't that packed although the parking/street was so cramped. We were greeted promptly, seated and served with water.
I got "Eggs Lorraine" which consisted of scrambled eggs with spinach, olives, and ham over an english muffin and hollandaise sauce all over. It was served with the BEST herb potatoes I have ever had. The food was amazing. So flavorful and tasty. My bf got the "California Benedict" which is basically eggs benedict with avocado served over a english muffin and hollandaise sauce. Also came with potatoes. Completely and utterly AMAZING!
..Service was great, and pretty fast. Menu consisted of a wide selection.
Sigh, I'm in love!
This is a wonderful little place to grab breakfast. It's in the heart of downtown Los gatos, on the main strip, so you can eat big, then walk it off and take a look at some nearby boutiques... or just sit on a bench and people watch because you can't move/shouldn't have eaten that last slice of bacon.
It was full on a saturday morning, as expected (I called in earlier and they told me the wait would probably be 20 minutes), but they seated us as soon as we arrived. We sat outdoors, and with the sun shining, it was a great day for that- my only complaint is that tables were very close together outside, so there was not a lot of privacy.
loved the food here. We ordered the spinach and Gorgonzola omlette (served with tasty seasoned potatoes) and the banana pancakes...highly recommend both of these, especially the omlette. There were a lot of other creative omlettes to choose from, so I'll be back. Most breakfast items were between $8-10, but it seems the quality of the food and the preparation is better than most comparable breakfast options.
Put me in the LG Cafe super fan club. Just a great place for breakfast. Been wanting to go there a long time, and finally did so this Memorial Day weekend. Usually there is a line of people waiting, but today we were immediately seated.
We sat outside which is much quieter than the inside section. On the inside they have a regular counter and many tables.
We ordered the California Eggs Benedict and the Avocado/Cheese Omelet. Coffee was hot and very good. Our meals came and they were truly scrumptious. The eggs Benedict were really tasty as the hollandaise sauce was really good. All fresh ingredients. Same for the omelet. Now, the seasoned potatoes must be their signature dish. Lots of herbs cooked in butter and spices. Had a nice crust. Just heavenly.
They are open from 6-3 and do only breakfast and lunch. A must visit for those who like old home style breakfasts. Many other specialties to include Belgian waffles and they had apricot French toast which I will try next time.
Highly recommended!
Note: cash only.
I was super hungry, and my friend said he knew a great breakfast spot. Unfortunately, my hunger pains would be prolonged because everyone decided to eat here...45 minute wait!! I was hoping that people would still be at church since we went on a Sunday before noon, but alas, I was wrong.
We finally got seated, and I ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage Omelet( http://static.px.yelp.... ). My friends got 2 eggs scrambled( http://static.px.yelp.... ), and the Crab Omelet( http://static.px.yelp.... ). For our bakery items we got the Raspberry Coffee Cake( http://static.px.yelp.... ) and Bread Pudding( http://static.px.yelp.... ).
The food looked so good, and it was definitely worth the wait. One bite of my potatoes and I was in heaven! They were crispy and so tasty. I've never had potatoes like this...they added some yellow curry to give the potatoes an extra burst of flavor. My omelet was HUGE and deeeeeelish! I was only able to eat half, and took the rest to go. I tried the crab omelet, and OMG....definitely a must! The bread pudding was awesome! It was warm and so moist. So much food, so little time!
The service was excellent! I had a cup of coffee, and I would drink two sips, and the waitress would be back to refill my cup. I had to eventually stop her because I didn't want a caffeine high.
Great food and great service! I had to only give them four stars because they don't take credit cards.
We went there today and we enjoyed our lunch after a walk in Vasona Park. I had Chicken Quesadilla, Mom had crab club sandwich, sis had Grilled sandwich, and dad had reubin sandwich. It was delicious!
Decided to come here after seeing this place had 4.5 stars out of 5 on Yelp. I'm very happy about my decision. =)
I came here on a Saturday around 2:30PM with three friends and we were seated right away. The place is kinda small so I can only imagine how crowded it can get.
There's a huge selection in the menu. It took my table extra time to decide what we each wanted. It seems like their most popular and signature items are in red text, so it would be a good idea to pick one of those items if it's your first time there.
The most memorable items were:
Crab Cake Benedict: This was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH goodness. It had two homemade crab cakes topped with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. It also came with a side of herbed, country fried potatoes. This is DEFINITELY worth ordering. I mean... WOW is all I can say.
Swedish Pancakes: The only time I had swedish pancakes before was at Southern Kitchen Coffee Shop (San Jose). Those were good but it wasn't like the ones at Los Gatos Cafe. I can't even describe the taste. It was like a thick crepe with lingonberry butter. It wasn't too sweet. It was just right. Also another item order worthy.
Rasberry Coffeecake: They offer this as a side dish with some of their entrees but you can order this seperately for $2. This was a nice, fluffy coffeecake. I'm a sucker for coffeecake so when I saw they offered a RASBERRY coffeecake, I had to have it. It was great. Too bad I was too full from my entree to eat it.
I would love to go back and try different items on their menu. They also serve lunch but breakfast lovers should definitely go check out this place.
