Cheap no waiting but careful about errant shots.  This is hackers' paradise.  No matter where you are u can get hit by a ball.  I've seen guys hit balls at 90 degree angles to the tee (or really the turf mat)

Surprised they don't require helmets...

This pitch & putt is quite possibly the worst golf course I have ever played.  Expect to have at least 3 foursomes ahead of you right on the 1st tee.  Expect at least one of those groups to consist of joker hipsters playing "ironically" and yelling "GET IN THE HOLE!" every time one of their buddies swings a club.  This place also seems to be popular with families, there were plenty of kids out there hitting the ball all of 15 yards and getting on-course lessons from dad.  Needless to say, expect the pace to be slooooowwwww.  And all this was on a Wednesday afternoon, can't even imagine what the weekends look like here.

The course itself consists of tee shots off worn out mats, narrow dirt fairways and greens that are smaller than most studio apartments.  If you're a pure beginner (read: bought a couple clubs from the 60's at a garage sale earlier in the day) this is the place to go.  Go nuts.  Spray your shots all over the place, take forever to line up that putt, pretend you're Tiger Woods at Augusta, pound some PBRs, yell and scream, have a great time.

I'm nothing special on the golf course and have never belonged to a private club or anything like that.  Golf is a game that anyone can and should enjoy if they want to.  However, an overcrowded, poorly maintained course filled with first-timers and children just isn't my thing.

LFZ!!!!!  Or better yet... the sign says..  _ _ _   _ _ _ _ Z  GOLF LOL!
This is my first trip ever onto a golf course.  Buddy of mine "a fellow yelper" decided to change it up from driving range (considered that I'm now a graduate from hacking the ball...) and move me up to a course instead.  I must say, it was a very enjoyable experience for a big time beginner like me.

The course is narrow and small, but yet good enough for a nice morning or afternoon stroll.  Went on a Friday and it cost us $6.50 now (price increased according to other reviews)  Although there were lots of beginners and everyone is hacking the ball left and right, I found that it's a great practice for beginner because each of the holes requires the golfer to hit them fairly straight (due to the narrowness and the tree-lined setup), which is awesome for me to make sure that I'm not hitting the ball into the residential apartments or straight into the LA river.  I think if a beginner can consistently hit straight here they should improve their game quite a bit.

Overall the game went fairly quick, everyone moved along fairly nicely (perhaps we had a great crowd who wasn't really goofing around)  It is now one of my favorite starting point in golf and I definitely recommend "Z" golf to everyone!  LOL!

Los Feliz is the best bad course in LA. You never have to worry about offending anyone with your bad play or shots that go sideways. The fairways are all lined with trees and sloping towards the greens so it's like playing golf with bumpers. Great for people like me.

The prices have gone up, but it's still the cheapest place in LA and usually free in the evenings.

Always a classic.

I guess I would consider myself a regular because I play 2 or 3 times during the week after 7pm for free.

It's true this course attracts lots of newbies that have no golf etiquette, let alone carry a divot tool, but I've never found anyone to be completely unruly, malicious or littering.

All in all I say it's fun.  There's always someone to join, and it's not a problem if you ask to play through a party.

Thanks to this course, my short game has improved dramatically when I play full rounds at other courses on weekends.

If you're really good, all you need is a wedge and putter. I can't understand why some people insist on carrying all their clubs and bag.

As other Yelpers have said, this course has narrow fairways, so you need to hit it just right to make it on the green and then go for birdie or par.

When you get to the 6th hole, watch out for the low over hanging trees, so don't  go with a full swing, just hit it low and fast.

The sprinklers come on at 8pm on the 1st and 9th holes.

There's a family of skunks that can always be found scrummaging for dinner after 8 pm between the 8th and 9th holes. They're harmless so long as you leave them alone :)

I really, really like drinking in the early afternoon.  I am starting to like playing golf.  This place allows me to enjoy both.  What a luxury.

The people in the booth are freaking horrifying, but this place is really cheap.  I'd skip the Eats Cafe or whatever it's called there as it's pretty gross, greasy diner food (but not in a good way) and it usually takes FOREVER to get your food.  Plenty of places practically across the street or maybe 2 blocks away.

This place rocks my face off - plus all of the fairways are lined with trees so it's basically like playing Bumper Golf.  Great for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Yes, I golf...but I am not talented. That is why I love this place so much!

Short, straight holes, no sand traps, and the best part...it only costs $4 for 9 holes! ($5 on weekends and holidays) But, if you go when it is about to get dark, you might be able to sneak in for free( Shh!)

This golf course is fun. It's better than Burbank's De Belle 3 par, but not as good as Studio City's par 3.

The fairways are too skinny. If you slice it one inch off, you're on the next fairway and some dude is pissed cuz he had to duck. Or, you hit a tree and now you're no where.

It's also way too packed. It's retarded packed. On Saturday or Sunday, you're looking at a 2 - 3 hour long game. For a 9 hole. 3 par. That is bull. And a lot of times you get teamed up with some dudes that you don't know, which is sometimes fun, sometimes not.

It is cheap, which is awesome. I like that.

Doods: has anyone else noticed that the guy in the booth is creep? He said something to my friend that was so gross (no need to repeat it here). That dude is WEIRD. But ... I guess it adds to the fun.

Definitely awesome that they have Eat's right there.

I have adamantly been vocal about my distaste for golf from the time I was a little know-it all-pipsqueak. So of course the other day I decided, out of the blue, like giving it a try and losing a few balls in the L.A. river. But that is what is so gosh darn charming about me, right? You never know what the hell I am going to come up with. Right? Oh whatever.

It was fun! And at $4.50 for 9 holes a cheap, relaxing way to spend a warm afternoon on my day off with nowhere to be and no one to see. It was the first time I had even held non miniature golf clubs, so I could have been worse, but to give you an idea, when I got one par four on a hole I jumped up and down. Yeah, I was dismal. But nobody here cares. You aren't going to find Ernie Els playing ahead of you, more likely someone who will knock your head off with a ball totally off course. But that's the charm. It's about saying 'piss it' and swinging away with a buddy and not caring who sees you miss the ball 4 times (yes, I am speaking from experience) before you hit it.

This place has easily snuck its way into my heart and I proudly declare it the coolest place in Los Angeles. I just started playing golf a month or so ago when my roommate and I stopped here to check out the menu at the diner connected to the course. When we saw how dirt cheap it was to play a game of golf we decided to embark on a new hobby. I've been there at least once every week since.

I still blow but I blow while drinking forties or pushing a cooler full of beer and fried chicken in front of me. What do you do on your days off? I hope it's as fun, drunk and tasty as that. My friend Adam almost got a hole in one the other day after knocking his ball off of a fence, there's a house cat that's been getting real friendly next to the bikini hole where we saw some some side boob (if you've played there you know what I'm talking about) and, to top that off, Dustin had two birdies in a row today.

I want to spread my golfin' wings and try another course but, really, why do I need to do that? This place is up my alley.

One of the greatest reasons to live on the east side of town (but is Los Feliz reeally all that "east side"?  No.), this golf course is perfect for those of us who fall into two categories:

1.  Broke

The course if all of $4 and you can byobeer (although don't quote me on that.  It is technically a public park...).  Everyone can afford this.  Additionally, one doesn't look out of place wearing a pair of sandals, cut offs and a stained t-shirt (I would never do this) because only the truly uptight dress to impress at a $4 golf course.

2.  Not a golfer.

If you're like me and you can hit a golf ball forwardsish, this place is great.  The holes are short and narrow so you don't have to walk too far to retrieve those hooks and slices.  You won't need more than a pitching wedge and a putter so you won't have to be embarrassed when someone asks what you're teeing off with and you say "Sandwich?"

Lastly, to top the day off, I would suggest betting on the putting green; loser buys lunch at EATZ cafe.  Rad burgers and tuna melts are guaranteed to satisfy.  It's like a really cheap country club!

This is my country club, conveniently located on the east side.

The course is never very busy, just show up and at most I've waited 15 minutes to tee off (usually on Sundays), which is just enough time to practice my putting on the practice green.

So bring your B-game, bring the sandles and the beer. Los Feliz Par-3 won't have it any other way.

Bonus tip of the Day:
If you show up after 6pm you can golf for free.

This place is miniature golf on steroids (barely).  Run by the city, costs four bucks, with a hefty dollar premium on the weekends.

Forgot your clubs- you'll only need two- and they will rent you clubs for a buck each (bring your license or car keys as collateral).

Forgot your balls?  Sorry to hear about that.  But you can buy some balls from the wrinkly old man in the rental shop.  Can't guarentee how good they will be.  One buck, one ball.

Need a beer or a bight afterwards, stop in at Eats (no doubt reviewed by yelpers elsewhere).

You suck at golf, yell ."Fore!"  Everyone else is.

Lots of fun if you have an hour to kill or be killed.

Bring a pitching wedge, a putter and maybe your nine iron with you.

park in the lot, pay, play... You'll be hitting off of grass mats, onto things that looks like greens but aren't really, and honestly, if you make it out of round without getting beaned, or hitting someone else with your ball you should be happy.
Its hacker-central.
But for a quick pitch-and-putt type of place its cool.

This is a great place for those who just want to spend some time practicing with there wedge & putter.  Make sure you check in with the man behind the window.  I made the mistake of just walking onto the course was chased down by a voice.
All and all great place.

If you've seen the classic film, "Swingers," and you remember the scene where two (2) of the lead actors (1 was Ron Livingston) are playing golf on a very "pedestrian" 9-hole Los Angeles golf course lamenting their respective "pedestrian" plights in the entertainment business as various Disney characters at the theme park --- well - then you are familiar with this "kitsch" golf course.  Other than the last hole when you could probably hit a 7-Wood, you don't need more than a 7-iron although ladies may need just a little more club.   They have "carts" to rent for $1.00 and I recall the round of 9 cost $4.00.  Next door to the course is a 1950s-style diner.  If you live in LA - you have to do this at least once.  I played with a fellow Yelper and cleaned his clock so I suspect we will be back for a rematch but do yourself a favor and take your friend, your kid or your significant other and enjoy what can only be described as FUN.  Now, if you get competitive and lose like my fellow Yelper, the $4.00 Greens Fees may pale in comparison to the cost of the renewal of your weekly Shrink visits necessary to regain your self-esteem --- but if you are able to simply relax and enjoy the experience --- you should be able to leave without frantically searching for your shrink's number during the car ride home.
