I was happy to see a taqueria in Cupertino/Saratoga, and I was ecstatic when I actually ate there! This place has some of the best carne asada I've ever had; the beef is fresh and delicious. Burritos, tacos, tortas, nachos, everything there is great! The service is also excellent!
Everything is also super cheap; especially for the level of quality you're getting. The husband and I can have a huge lunch there for about $14 (with sodas).
The only problem I have with the place: the food is SO good, I always eat until I feel like I'm going to explode. Oops.
This is the best little Taco stand I have found in the Cupertino vicinity.
Awesome tacos, yes, but give some of the dinner entries a try, too, because they are equally as good.
They also make excellent seafood dishes and have genuine, sugar sweetened, Mexican Coca-Cola.
mm.. I come here almost every week (helps that I work across the street). I always share a chili verde burrito with my coworker. oh man.. its so good. but u must get it wet with green sauce and use the tapatio liberally. I have also tried a lot of stuff on their menu and have not been disappointed.

I was in the mood for Mexican food (I was craving chips and salsa) so Kari S. and I headed to the LDC #2. It is hidden from view but it is located behind the Shell station on De Anza and Prospect. The guy in the liquor store was kind enough to point out where LDC was.
Cute little hole-in-the-wall place. The different color of each wall, the hanging decorations, and the paintings really brighten up the place. I especially like the carved wooden chairs.
Salsa and chips were immediately brought out to us. Kari S. thought that the chips tasted weird but I was scarfing them down so I didn't really notice until halfway through our meal. Yep, the chip tasted a bit grainy. Kari S. thought that maybe the chips were old. Salsa was spicy, decent, but not memorable.
Highlights
* Pollo Asado Crispy Chicken Taco
Chicken was tender. Portion was good enough to fill me up.
* Papaya Agua Fresca
Not too sweet. Tasted exactly like a papaya but in juice form.
I also ordered the shrimp taco but wasn't impressed. Not much shrimp and it seemed overshadowed by the guac. and other items in the taco.
The prices were reasonable enough. Tacos range from $2 to $3. They have a lot of great choices and would like to see how my husband would rate the carne asada, his fave dish.

Sort of like Pho restaurants, Taquerias is very hard for me to judge compared to others. I can taste a difference between a bad Tacqueria and a good one, but I think I'm inept at identifying good ones with better ones. Enough of my shortcomings, Los Dos Compadres is a little Taqueria shop in the corner of this Chinese plaza off of De Anza Blvd and Prospect.
I always order a Super Burrito here ($5.45), which consists of rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, your choice of meat, sour cream, cilantro, and some other stuff. And yes, my enemy, the cilantro is in there too. But luckily enough, they're always understanding of my needs and take it out when I request it :D The Super Burrito is served with a toasted tortilla and packed in quite tightly, where the burrito looks like its about to explode. Last time I went, I got my burrito with the carne asada (which evidently doesn't cost any extra compared to other places), but the steak meat was decent. Just tasted really burnt and dry, but combining it with the other garnishes, it was less noticeable and I thought in the end, it was a quite tasty and very filling burrito. If you want it spicy, they provide you with multiple tabasco sauces for your choosing. Los Dos Compadres is a good, affordable burrito place if you're tired of the main stream Chipotle and Baja Fresh around the area.
My dad and I discovered this hidden gem when it first opened up in a super Asian strip mall. We knew it was the real deal when it was filled with Mexicans and when we ordered takeout they called out our number in Spanish and couldn't translate for us! We were in a little bit of trouble, but with the help of some kind bilingual folks, we managed to get our food. It didn't use to be much inside, but it due to their booming business they remodeled and it looks like the real deal tacqueria inside now. Luckily, though they revamped and became more widely known, their quality has not diminished in the least, and Mexicans still pack the place for lunch.
On to the food. The shrimp burritos are FANTASTIC. When I get home, that's one of the first things I eat for lunch. Their regular sized burritos are humongous, but you'd be surprised at your own eating prowess because they're so delicious. Other recommendations are the tacos - their chicken and fish tacos are great, and they come with two layers of taco shells because they put so much stuff on top! Even their drinks are great - they stock Jarritos and have these big cooler of homemade drinks (I'm not sure what they're called), but their flavors usually vary day to day, and are extremely popular in the summer. I think I almost fainted when I tried their watermelon flavored drink a few summers ago, it was like completely fresh watermelon or something...
Basically, this place is delicious and the food is also a bargain. I introduced it to all my friends and it's one of our favorite lunch places!
Holy crap the Carne asada super burrito is huge.. on par w/ freebirds in UCSB.
SO GOOD SO FULL ... FOOD COMA
Comes w/ small bag of chips ghetto paper bag style if you get it to go :)

Fairly good taqueria in Cupertino. Bonus points for having menudo & cabeza on the menu! Mexican coke too!
The food tastes average. The carne asada burrito lacked a kick to it to put it simply. A sign that a taqueria serves quality Mexican food is if you see other Mexican people in there. For example, when I have eaten at Los Charros in Mountain View or La Tapatia in South San Francisco, the place was packed with Mexicans. The only people in there were Asians and Caucasians, enough said.
A TAQUERIA IN CUPERTINO?!
GASP!!
Alas, it's true. I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY have a place to go that's right by home when I'm craving a real Mexican burrito and A) don't feel like making the drive to Mountain View and B) don't want American, microwaved Mexican a la Taco Bell.
ATMOSPHERE: No wonder I never knew this place existed despite living in 'tino for more than 15 years! Los Dos Compadres is hidden behind the Bank of America in an Asian complex. The inside was run-down, but clean and the people were super friendly. Prices were decent - $5.75 for a Super Burrito which included meat, beans, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. It was around 3:30 when I stopped by, so the place was sorta quiet, but I was very happy to find that the 3 tables that were filled were occupied by Mexican people. Good sign!
BURRITO: Nothing exciting, but it was satisfyingly real. Flour tortilla wasn't dry - great! I was able to get refried beans instead of pintos, everything was spiced really well, there was a perfect amt of sour cream and guac in my burrito, and when I asked for a side of limes, I got what looked like the equivalent of 1 whole lime - super great! Unfortunately, my pollo asado was WAY TOO DRY. The quality of the meat wasn't high either and I didn't get a side of chips with my burrito to-go, but oh well. I found a taqueria in Cupertino! I'll be coming back for sure!
**UPDATE**
Made a return visit for another burrito to-go 9/21. Yes, me can't get enough of Mexican food. This time ordered the pollo salsa en rojo and it was so much better than the asado. Juicy, tender chicken... mmm! Again, yay! for a taqueria in Cupertino!

I got a shrimp taco and quesadilla to go and thought both were really good. I loved how the shrimp taco was quite spicy and that the quesadilla wasn't greasy.
The guac with the quesadilla wasn't very good, and I was sad to see that they forgot to put salsa in my to go bag. Otherwise, I thought the food was really good and at a decent price (just under $7 for the taco and cheese quesadilla).

Completely hidden taqueria at the end of an Asian market in Cupertino.
Prices are low, food is bomb.
Usually go with the Super Burrito. It's $4.75, and huge. Lots of guac, veggies, and meat. You can tell this place is serious by the insane selection of hot sauce at each table. Everything from spicy chipotle to XXX habanero.
I've lived here forever, but just recently found this place. These guys are my new taqueria compadres.

I go to this place for the fish and shrimp tacos. I haven't eaten much else there. Except the frijoles, which are excellent as well. One of my buds says this is like eating at Mexican's friends house when she was invited over for a homemade dinner.
The horchata is also quite good, even though it's not so great for your waistline :-)

I was shocked to find a taqueria in Cupertino (thanks my fellow yelpers)! I tried it out with my two sons and our conclusion: it passed. The salsa is okay and the chips are decent. The food is prepared VERY fast which was a plus. I ordered the basic super carnitas burrito. My favorite part about the burrito was the fact that there were no hunks of blubbery fat in the meat! =) They made the burrito with whole pinto beans instead of my personal favorite - refried. But that was okay. The burrito itself was tasty and HUGE! My 7 year old son ordered a side order of 2 chicken enchiladas and he liked them. I did not like the enchilada sauce at all. When comparing Los Dos Compadres #2 enchilada sauce to El Burro (in the Campbell Pruneyard) enchilada sauce, I would have to say the Los Dos Compadres was a Fiat compared to El Burro's Mercedes Benz! =) My 6 year old son ordered the chile verde nachos and there was NO cheese on the plate! There were plenty of chips, a few beans, lots of VERDE sauce (but almost no meat). I saw someone else's order of carne asada tacos which looked very tasty so I will be back to try the carne asada. Face down this place can't compare to my favorite Mexican place (El Burro) but it's a good quick fix for Cupertino residents which really have NO traditional Mexican restaurants to choose from....unless you count taco bell , chipotle's, or chili's as mexican. I do not!!
Oh yeah, and the horchata was SOOOOOO watered down! Too bad I ordered the large one.
(this is a breakfast review - the search for the perfect Huevos Rancheros)
Not bad, not bad. The sauce on the HR was really thick - it could also have been used on a pasta dish and translated quite nicely; it almost seemed like it was a pasta sauce.
There were a lot of chunky green peppers and that became annoying after a while because it hampered my search for the eggs that had drowned beneath the sauce.
The entire dish appeared to have been over-microwaved as the eggs, which are supposed to be done easy, had a gelatinous consistency and the edges of the refried beans had that telltale bubbly look of being given too much microwave treatment.
Not a bad breakfast for $5.99 and you can even pack the rancheros sauce to go there's so much of it.
omg i love this place. it's really sickening how much i crave and want to eat here. I come at least once a week, and I always want the wet burrito with chile verde and wet w/ the green sauce and cheese on top. OH! and tapatio sauce on top. That is my heaven. Their burriitos are so huge! I have to split one with my coworker everytime.
They have good chips and salsa while you wait for your food. We tried a chicken quesadilla here before and it was so huge too! That was pretty delicious. I highly recommend this place. I would eat here everyday if I couldn't get fat... :*)

cheap and delicious! what else can you want?
where else has tongue burritos in cupertino area?!
get anything with "super" in front of it... super burrito, super nachos and you're set.
I'm pretty sure it's authentic judging by who goes there normally.

i love this taqueria!! it's really small and gets really busy fast so be prepared!! it's hidden behind the bank of america on de anza and prospect. the best part about this place has got to be the chips and salsa!! the salsa is very spicy and my tongue ends up burning but i keep eating it because it is that good!!! i love their super carnitas burrito!! the carnitas are crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside.. the flautas are also amazing! they make them with chicken or beef and deep fry them. they are served with guacamole, sour cream and queso fresco! they are so good!! the enchiladas are also really delicious! and so are the fish tacos!! this place is really cheap too but as we all know, real mexican food is made with lard so it's not the healthiest for you. i love mexican food and i always go here to get my fix..

We are always looking out for a quiet quick spot to enjoy lunch with our daughter, Miss Z. I am very fond of lenqua (beef tongue) and this popular locaton filled my needs. Good salsa is a bit too runny, we prefer it thicker, have learned to hold a chip under the dipped one to catch drops.
Husband very satisfied with his carnitas and Miss Z with fish taco.
Do watch out for empty boxes on the way to the loo, they seem to be understaffed by at least one person.
Will return. MS

I really wanted to like this place but it didn't live up to expectations. It's was average at best. I had the carnitas platter and the pork was dry and overcooked. The refried beans and the rice were completely average. The fish taco was pretty good but not enough to warrant a second visit.
I am giving this little place * * * * * stars!!!!!. They have the best tacos and burritos in town. You get a lot of food for a really cheap price. "Don't take my word for it"!! GO AND TRY IT FOR YOUR SELF. THEN YOU WRITE WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!!!
