So living in the la/oc region there are many malls that are relatively close to me and although this mall is vastly improving it will never reach four stars because it simply cannot hold enough stores.
5 stars = south coast
4 stars = brea
3 stars = CERRITOS
2 stars = lakewood, Westminster
1 star = STONEWOOD =(
This mall is getting a new nordstrom in a good location which is a definite plus. Bringing higher end stores such as True Religion is chill, but Mr. Louis, Gucci and Fendi are uninvited ahahahha.
The romance is officially over.
Sign me up for divorce and call Jerry Springer.
Things could get ugly...
-sigh-
If I had to pick one thing to blame this recession on, it would be places like you my once beloved Cerritos Mall. You, sitting out there nestled between the Lakewood and Norwalk ghettos, pretending to be something you're not. I don't think Paris Hilton is moving to Compton anytime soon. So why, OH WHY, must you appeal to the infamously selected few when the majority of people who stride up and down your aisles are middle aged, average joes like me?
************ insert 3 hour rant here about Generation Z ***************
I'll make it simple.
Back 6 years ago, I used to frequent this mall as my "go to" place for just about everything I needed: clothes, shoes, etc. Heck, I even worked for Macy's my first year of college. Then things started CHANGING, and not in a good way.
Nowadays all you see are midriff bearing teenagers high on mommy and daddy's credit cards, spreading their Teenybopper/SceneKid disease like no one's business. You might think it's ok now, but just wait until YOUR favorite place to shop starts selling neon colored pants aimed at the opposite sex. When this fad is over where will it leave the business? Pining away for lost, faithful patrons who refused to give in to ridiculous fads (AKA people like moi).
No customers = No revenue
No revenue = No work for employees
No employees = Going out of business sign on the window
Starting to sound familiar? R-E-C-E-S-S-I-O-N.
And you thought economics were hard. Tch.

This mall has one major thing going for it and it's that it's ALOT LESS ghetto than Lakewood Mall.
Other pluses are:
the girls that work here are mostly pretty hot. (exception: the girls that work at Aeropostale, but what can you expect when they sell jeans for $20 there).
Food Court is pretty good. I like the Great Khan's there and they let you load up your bowl like a mile high if you're really starving.
They have a good pet store there. Forgot what it's called, but it's by Radio Shack. I always feel tempted to buy a dog when I'm there.
the movie theater is pretty good. Only had one bad experience there years ago when we saw Crouching Tiger and kids behind us kept talking back at the movie screen through most of the movie.
Some of the drawbacks:
Be careful of the cell phone kiosks here. I bought a wireless usb modem from the Verizon by the radio shack and I tried to return it within the trial period. The guy said I couldn't return it because the manager wasn't there. I made him take it back and sign a note saying I returned it on time, and they still wouldn't refund my money later on. Those guys are crooks. Their number is 562-865 9411 and pls tell them I said Fuck You.
the bathrooms are pretty nasty.
parking can be a hassle. I usually park by the food court and it's a little better there.
So here's a list of stores opening upon completion of the new Nordstrom wing in Spring 2010. This is only a partial list and more stores will announce an opening as contracts are signed:
1) True Religion
2) Love Couture
3) Apple
4) Foreign Exchange
5) A relocated Carlton Hair Salon
6) A relocated Vision Shoes
7) A Nordstrom Cafe
8) MAC
This is not to mention the relocation of the Forever 21 to a new department store location.

Very much a "meh" kind of mall, it is a bit better and more varied than stonewood and lakewood mall but it still is meant mainly for teens to buy stuff to look cool in a "meh" kind of city. I've travel throughout LA/OC and seen many kind's of malls in the area, it try's to be like an oc mall but it still lacks in a few departments. They do have a pet store (which is unusual for a mall) a decent radio shack (more selection than stonewood) a better macy's, and more satellite stores which draw in more revenue. It is the mall you go to, to pretend you are in the OC like brea mall, or south coast plaza. Indoor malls are an older type of trend compared to outdoor shopping centers which are lead by the leading innovators in Orange County.
After eating quite a bit, walking around a nearby mall sounded good. Los Cerritos Center has a Sephora, aerie, Macy's and a lot of the usual stores one would expect from a mall. It's a one story mall that's busy at this time of the year on the weekend. Los Cerritos Center is not to be confused with the Cerritos Town Center, that's a different entity. There are some good Yelp reviews on CTC as well.
It was a hot day and warm inside the mall but they have a Yogurtland store inside. What a great idea! The food court looks packed with the typical options. They try to make it exciting at the Center, a mini catwalk with loud music had been set up for a juniors' fashion show.
You might be surprised by this mall.

What I remember most about my visit to Cerritos Mall a few weeks ago was that within minutes of walking in via Nordstrom a few people wooshed past me at lightning speed closely followed by undercover loss prevention agents while the security tags had set off that incessant beeping. People were crowding around the doorway as if they'd never seen shoplifters picking up designer clothes to sell on ebay before. Free entertainment? 1 star for you Cerritos Mall.
Speaking of Nordstrom, this has got to be the crappiest one I've seen. It's weird and small and there were about a thousand girls crowded around the cosmetics area trying to snag a free makeover before going clubbing.
The Macys also falls under the weird&small category.
It's not an altogether terrible mall. Banana Republic was decent. There's a food court, although a dingy one at that. But it was hotter than anything in there. Can the peasants get a little AC?!
Not the worse shopping center you'll ever see but not one to go out of your way to get to. I just love the retro exterior.

An A Ok Mall, not a very nice mall and not Ghetto. They have some higher end stores like Nordstroms, Banana Republic , BeBe, Aldo, good places for people in their 20s and 30s. Its more of a family mall though. Its not worth driving to, but its A ok
The good news is the new Nordstrom is opening next yeaR!

This place is alright. It got a lot better over the years. I remember it used to be so boring back then. When you have great malls around socal, people don't even bother going to Los Cerritos Center. But more and more better stores are popping up. We'll see what it's like in the next year. Until then, I'll stick to Brea mall and South Coast Plaza.

Los Cerritos Mall has definately improved the past few years.
They are moving Nordstroms to the old Robinson-May's location. I bet that the new Nordstroms will kick ass!! Who needs to go to South Coast Plaza when you have a brand new Nordstroms?
They are also making a new Forever 21 (to replace Mervyns). Wow so many new places/improvements for Cerritos Mall.
Their food court have also improved. You can find a variety of food establishments in the food court.
The theatre is also pretty clean and modern with stadium style seating (remember when stadium style seating was a new thing? hahaha)
Now if they could only update the Macy's. This anchor store really looks a bit old and dated on the outside. Hopefully the upgrades will come sooner than later.
And for all you Cerritos residents -- please continue to shop at the Cerritos Mall -- the tax revenue only help YOU!!!

Its a mall.
there are shops.
there are people.
there is food.
It's certainly no south coast plaza, but its not the old whitwood either. Its your average mall with all of the typical shops and eateries. One thing I do enjoy about this mall is the ample directories throughout because I'm always lost in malls. Yes, I'm that person...."Okay Im HERE and Jumbo Judy's is THERE"
Malls in general make me anxious. People everywhere, too many shops, too much gross food, too much walking since i never seem to know what store is where and i almost ALWAYS park on the opposite side.
Almost every single store here has an online store that you can buy the same crap, minus the parking and the teenagers, all in the comfort of your own house, in the nude.
Mall shopping while naked could be very dangerous for tall people, clothes racks could hit in all the wrong spots.

Hey, it's better than Lakewood Mall!
Parking is not too bad if you know where to park (I like the old Nordstroms or near the entrance to the food court). Besides, walking a few extra feet can only do a body good. I don't understand why people always want to park as close as they can get!
Things I go for:
Nordstroms (very nice and friendly sales people)
Sephora
Coach (just window-shopping)
Godiva
Kids play area
It's not the best mall that I've ever been to, but it's close. Location, location, location!

Growing up in Cerritos meant a lot of days spent wandering around Cerritos Mall, just wiling away the hours. Sure, we should've been at home studying, but surely it's not hard to understand that the mall is a lot more interesting. Hour after hour, day after day, we spent combing through the walkways of Los Cerritos Center, hanging out by the fountain, staring at the giant clock by Red Robin, taking sticker pictures in the kiosks, browsing through racks of really cheap clothes, eating at the food court, and just generally wasting time.
Then I grew up and realized... Cerritos Mall has nothing to offer people over the age of 15. The stores were all of the cheap, ghetto sort, with tacky, flimsy materials used to make trendy, but ultimately crappy clothes. Give me South Coast any day, I cried.
I felt like such a grown up. I grew up and outgrew Cerritos Mall. Yippee for me! Maturity is such a cool concept.
I avoided this place for many many years, as I was sure that there were no stores worth my time. Then, one unsuspecting weekend, I decided to meet up a friend at CPK in Cerritos. As usual, the parking lot was crowded, so I swung around to the back and parked by the food courts.
I made my way towards CPK, passing the rows of stores along the way.
Gap, Body Shop, and some other stores were easy to bypass. Disdainfully, I trotted onwards, convinced that Cerritos Mall was just as crappy as it used to be.
Whoa. Is that a Bebe I see? Is that a Banana Republic? Did I just see a Coach store? What's with the giant Forever 21? Do I see a Metropark? A Godiva?
What in the world?
Since when did Cerritos Mall play host to these decent stores???
I was amazed. In the many years that I ventured farther south for my shopping needs, Cerritos Mall was getting a revamping of its own. I must say, kudos! Just a few more cool stores, and you might be giving South Coast a run for its money!
Okay, maybe not. But still. There's a lot of potential there. Last I heard, they tore down the JC Penny, which will be replaced by Nordstrom, and in the old Nordstrom location, they'll be putting in a Bloomies. Nice!
Now if only they'd reinstate the Starbucks that used to be across from CPK, I might actually visit here more often.

MALL RAT!! --- that's what my friends use to call me
What else was there to do growing up in Cerritos?? NOTHING!
But anyways... there are soo many differences from before and now, they did a really good job cleaning up.
It will never be the best but it is sure better than the rest (IE. Stonewood which is like a long strip of nothing and Lakewood 3 Long strips of nothing with GHETTO people =)
They took out alot of center stores and made way for sofa and couches.. my husband LOVES THIS
They upscaled the mall to make NORDSTROM HUGE! added a Metro Park and even a COACH! BUTTT and this is a BIG BUTT where did STARBUCKS GO!!
How can you have a mall without it's most trendy spot.. STARBUCKS haha!
However, I do wish they would make it two stories and add nicer stores instead of Forever 21 stores.. do you know what I mean? Only time will tell!
but anyways this is a great mall, if I need something last minute, I know I can count on this Mall to have whatever I need, if the Norwalk Mall doesn't have it first. HAHA

Okay, this is my second review on this place. We went there to get an anklet for my mom and to get a bite to eat. We stopped at the little island store called Gold N' Time. My mom acted really confused like always, but the lady there was nice and understanding. Eventually, my mom bought one and we went to CPK, but that's another story. Not much I can say about my short visit, but it seems the same as it was last month. They should change it uo now and then. You know, put new posters, have more sales. They have plenty of parking, but it never seems enough in the afternoon or the weekends. A new Nordstrom's opened up, or will open soon. I know this review was very lame, but let me explain. I promised to write a review to everywhere I go. So there. I'll be back soon!

IT'S LIKE IF THE MISSION VALLEY MALL HAD A ONE NIGHT STAND WITH THE FASHION VALLEY MALL IN SAN DIEGO AND HAD A BABY....BUT IT LIVED INDOORS!
I have gone to this mall many times in the past 34 years of my life! (I know, I am old but DAMN I look young!) I have watched it transform a couple times and I like it now!
It is way nice inside and really busy for the time of year (and time of economy we are in). They have your standards: a Macy's, Nordstrom's, Banana Republic, Edwards Theatre, etc.
Here is a good analogy for you San Diegans...think Mission Valley feel with Fashion Valley prices. (Make sense?)

It's funny reading the other reviews for this mall.
Why so much racial judging/profiling?
It seems that people like to judge others that are different from them.
What I find shocking is that so many people (10+) would rate a review (Julia Y) filled with racial bias and stereotyping with 'Cool', 'Useful', and 'Funny'.
Sorry, I don't find racism Cool, Useful, or Funny.
(Edited): I guess Julia Y or Yelp removed her biased review... which is too bad, cause it was really interesting to read.

Parts of this mall look upscale and other parts look run down...like an incomplete project...they're adding more stores but the stores that are there still have the "coming soon" signs up
they have high arcs which allow natural light in and a more upscale feel...yet it's very spacious...depending on the person...almost too spacious...leaving you wondering if it's a finished mall...
Variety of stores...parking is fine....
I basically grew up in this mall but it has always had it's downside. The layout isn't very shopper friendly. I usually come here, park by Macy's, go to Express, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, and then leave. Otherwise the other route I may take is park by Nordstrom, shop only at Nordstrom, and leave. I usually don't walk around this mall because I hate running into people! Since I grew up around here, it's inevitable that you're going to run into someone when you look like you just woke up from the dead.
Parking is bad but if you learn to park in the big lots by Macys or Nordstroms you should be fine.
Decent mall overall but not oh so great. Lots of memories here though. Trust me, you DO NOT want to know. :)

Stand by your man...er, mall !
Unless previous Yelpers were drunk off their Haterade, I don't know why the Cerritos Mall received such mediocre reviews :-(
We've got Nordstrom, Macy's, Banana Republic, Forever 21, Sephora, sporting goods and footwear stores, coffee shops, childrens' boutiques, a movie theater, ATM machines, a post office, a good sized food court, and plenty of mom-and-pop mini business carts (ayurvedic pillows, belt buckles, generic mineral make up, etc.), basically - something for everyone.
Stop the hatin' you haters, ya'll needs to go kiss and make up at the Cerritos Mall.

A lot of people give this mall shit, but I like it here. I usually come on Fridays (my day off when I have no one to hang out with because they're all at work and want to kill some time before the boyfriend gets off work) and I always enjoy myself. I only go to a few stores, which include forever, banana republic, Gap, and Nordstroms. I also like that they have a Yogurtland inside. It can get crowded, so I recommend parking further away than looking for a good spot for 20 minutes.

OK. Here is the rule. Count how many athletic shoe stores and junk food carts are in the mall. Next, see if they are flooded with cell phone kiosks. Then look for the low budget movie theater INSIDE the mall.
If you see all of the above--you are in the ghetto.
But why should that stop you from having fun!?
I like this mall. I like these ghetto fab luxuries. And I like to casually stroll through locations without pretentious snobbery once in a while--especially after spending so many years at South Coast (my local mall).
So lace up your Adidas and take your time. Tell the cell phone hagglers to "stuff it" and enjoy the view.

This was a great mall. It had everything I wanted and a movie theater which I sadly didn't get to go to. It had a great mix of stores and department stores. The only down side was the layout of the mall. Was very poorly designed and had to spend much more time walking around then I would have needed to do if it had been better laid out.

Not an upscale mall, not a hoopdy mall. It has both Nordstrom and Mervyn's, which confuses me a little, but something for everyone, right?
The layout really is bad and makes it so shoppers will likely skip a big section of the mall, depending on which of the four department stores they go to. I got confused on my way out. All your mall staples are here, the stores your teenager wants, and maybe you still want. Sunglass Hut, Forever 21, Hot Dog On A Stick, Ann Taylor, Pacsun, The Limited. I resent Lisa K. saying Sanrio is for kids, because I was walking past it before I realized it was there, and turned my ass around immediately.
For what it is - a smallish suburban mall - it's fine. Not your place if you like giant megamalls, but for the rest of us who only occasionally find reason to visit a mall, perfectly serviceable.

This mall is definitely WAAAAAAYYY better than Lakewood's by like a mile! I loathe Lakewood mall, and its ghettoness. It's not the biggest mall I've been to but at least it's kind of close to home. This mall has pretty good stores, I love the Coach store and the Godvina chocolate! :) I love going to Barkworks and looking at the adorable puppies. Oh another reason why I like it is because it's the nearest Sephora. At least this mall doesn't have as much ghetto f*cks roaming around...it's actually more civilized.
This mall is pretty cool although i just go here to go to yogurtland LOL!
it's not really that bad of a mall those but the shape of the mall is pretty weird since it's kinda like a Z shape and they have some pretty nice stores, i've considered transfering from my hollister to this store's hollister but it's a bit far so i'm reconsidering, but anyways the mall isn't that bad, although the stores are a bit pricey but oh well haha
Weird to see the hate for this place from a couple of long time Yelpers, but I can understand why.
Cerritos Mall as it is passionately being called, was the type of shopping plaza in the 70's that would be considered cool. Erase the word "70's", then put the current year on top of it, you can see nothing have really changed. Some of the places you can find is still a carbon copy of the same 70's version.
The hostility of the hate towards this mall of not having more big name upscale stores is poorly misdirected. I don't think it will have the same kind of attraction that South Coast Plaza would be able to attract. This place is more of destination for middle class families to shop rather than the uber expensive shops that high class retail shopping you would see at the South Coast Plaza.
What the advantage of this mall can have is that they do have four big name clothing store department stores anchoring each end of the plaza. Plenty of eateries at the Food court. Ample amount of stores for each type of shopping needs. Restaurants and different type of coffee/tea places located at different spots of the mall.
This place doesn't pretend to have Saks Fifth Avenue in order to be pretentious to draw in the rich crowd nor do they have Walmart to be considered Slumming.
The sign of times does show that it needs to expend or remodeled. It's smaller than the local malls like Del Amo Fashion Center or Lakewood Mall. It probably needs a major face-lift like Buena Park mall (which is slumming by having Walmart) to expand having more stores. It is less crowded than the three mentioned local malls, but will have parkings to accommodate the busy shopping seasons.
In all, it's not a big five star place to shop, but definitely doesn't deserved a lousy one star. It's a middle of the road destination that is not going wow anyone, but a good place to shop nonetheless.

Good enough for a local mall to get your basics and hang out w/ the gang... if you're in high school.. or maybe younger now a days.. ...
At least they've got a yummy Nordstroms and good decent shoe places to check out.

I would give this mall a middle of the road 2.5 stars because that's exactly what it is... it's middle of the road.
OLD... also comes to mind... outdated also fits.
I've been coming to this mall for... well... suffice it to say - a VERY long time - I know I'm dating myself when I say I used to run around TIMEOUT Arcade across from what used to be the movie theatres.
Before writing this review... I was all set to give this mall a paultry 1 - 2 stars. But I realize that that would be coming from my jaded view of this place. I've been to some really nice malls... double, triple, and quadruple decker malls that have utilized the given space in interesting ways...
... and then there's the old hometown thing that serves more as a time capsule to the past. It's shops are slightly updated, but the design and overall feel of the mall itself just screams, "I'm 30+ years old!"
You can't get lost here, it's all one story - generally in the shape of an "L".
It gets pretty crowded but it's maneagable if you know what you need ahead of time. And there's TONS of parking...
Now, if they would only spend even a portion of what they did to upgrade the Cerritos Library on this place... it would be BANGIN'!

Bullshit customer service that makes me upset that ANYONE in here earns commission because they can work a register.
A lot of crap stores peppered with halfway decent stores.
Poor ass people pretending to have money.
Impressively large food court with a variety of ways to die of a heart attack.
Enjoy.

I put the ATM + post office to good use here. I usually park at Sears so I can pass by the food court on my way to Nordstrom. I wish there was some other chocolatier than Godiva and See's. I'm a fan of Victoria's Secret as well as the shoe repair shop. I've had better gelato than Melt though.

You've gotta be kidding me to give this place 1 star. Besides the Brea Mall and South Coast Plaza, there is no better mall out in the southern cali region by far. he says this place has no shops... where does he shop?? tiffanys? i mean yeah we dont have gucci or LV or Prada up in here but we've got your A&F, A&E, BR, Gap, just to name a few.
seriously, this is a decent mall.

I love this mall just because it has Macy's AND Nordstrom's, but Helen C is right - sometimes the selections at these stores are fewer than most of the other chains. And yes, there are some annoying teenagers (skinny, giggly, and/or whiny girls) who shop here. But I go here for the convenience. They've got a good variety of shops. You can buy something for everyone here - there's Sanrio and KB Toys for the little ones (and Toys R Us across the street); A&F, Hollister, Forever 21, and Express for the youngins; then BR, Ann Taylor, and Limited for the older (but still cool!) crowd. I've never eaten at the food court, but the CPK there is decent - I've never had to wait for a table :)

I'm with Angie C. If I have to go to the Cerritos Mall, I know what I'm buying and I leave (or I'm eating lunch at CPK). The main reason I don't like this mall is the layout. It's a total Z shape. And all one story. Which makes getting from one store to another (assuming you only need to go to two stores and not "browsing the entire mall"), kind of difficult. I usually go during my lunch or after work, so parking is not an issue. The store selection is not bad. They have a Nordstrom AND Banana Republic (although the selection at Nordstrom doesn't compare to that of The Brea Mall). I can't wait to see what they put at the old Robinson's May...

If I ever have to come here, I set my eyes on what I have to buy, buy it, and leave as soon as possible.
If I could give it zero stars I would. This is the mall of my hometown that has now become fully ghetto. No decent stores, paltry selections at even the chain stores (eg: Banana Republic, Nordstroms) and lots and lots of trash. I know Cerritos is not that upscale, but where are these people coming from?
There's nothing special about this mall. No umff.... Just a 1 story building that like any other mall. No wait, let me correct that, this mall is actually copying all other malls. One minute there's like practically nothing, and then all of a sudden, all these brand name stores keep popping out of no-where.
This mall is bigger than Lakewood Center, but I still avoid shopping here because it's more crowded. There are more choices when it comes to eating, so that's a plus. It's not as 'ghetto' as Lakewood, either, but I still get surrounded by your stereotypical skinny, tiny Asian girls and their boyfriends that still think sagging pants/jeans are in. (Yeah, I'm judgmental when it comes to my own kind; sue me!) Again, this is another mall I avoid when it comes to shopping; I'll stick to ordering things online!
I remember when this mall opened, that's how creaky I am. There was a movie twinplex outside in the parking lot where I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (the movie, not the actual guys; I don't want to spoil the end, but they go down in a hail of bullets, I do believe), and there was a REALLY small theatre inside the mall (I think it was a fourplex) where the bigger one is now located. I usually park by Mervyn's, walk in, and walk the length of the place, sometimes just to windowshop, usually to buy - the people don't really bother me, they're there to spend cash on stuff, same as I am. The mall is old, but has undergone some improvements (new seating areas), and I feel safer here than in Lakewood Mall, (which is really sad, because I basically grew up in Lakewood Mall, and can remember when it was called Lakewood Center, and was an OUTDOOR shopping center, kiddies! But I digress...). Los Cerritos Center is just an older, comfortable place for me to go.
