Best team in the league, best seats in the house. No bad seats at Staples, even rafter seats are good. cushioned and all. Plus they got premium beers!

the haters can eat one. unsubstantiated haterism is dumber than the dumbest dumb-ass. folks that just hate from the get go, hate their mothers too so we all know how that goes.

LAKERS ALL DAY, ANYDAY, EVERYDAY.

I'm from NYC.  I do not like the Lakers.  I really appreciated them back in the Showtime days...that was crazy back then cuz Magic was NASTY...but when Kobe got on board...FUGHEDABOUTIT.

Artest is on the squad now & I love him but dude is going to kill someone very soon.  His behavior has been good and all but for how long? What if he's not getting the touches he needs?

It's funny that Artest is probably the only team-mate of Kobe's since Shaq, Payton & Malone that doesn't need to slurp off of Kobe.  It seems that Kobe is a "better" team-mate when the other people on the court NEED him to score or get their shot (when he feels like passing).  If you don't need #24 to get your game going, he doesn't like you.  It's almost like he loves average scrubs on his side.

Imagine how fast that team chemistry would fall if (god forbid) ANOTHER superstar joined that team?  Sure, he's a great team player if you're not on his level...

...And don't even get me started on his 81 points against the worst team in the league that year...the Raptors!!!  People say it's better than Jordan's 63...oh REALLY?!!!

63 points, in the playoffs, in 1986 when defense was CRAZY strong (refs didn't call fouls unless cats were bleeding) against the best team in the league at the time..the Celtics; And Kobe's 81 is better than that?  Stay off the crack Kobe lovers...either pass it around or sell it, like I'm selling this team's greatness.  The Magic being in the finals was a fluke.  That was a gimmie title.

If you haven't heard by now, the Lakers just adopted a brand new pure bred Pitbull, and it's name is ARTEST!!! SICK EM BOY!!!!!!!!!!

Best coach in the game, Best player in the game, Best franchise in the game, Best everything!  What more could a fan ask for?????

I must admit, I'm not that old to have been a fan since the Showtime Lakers days, but I have been a fan since 96 when they drafted the best basketball player to ever walk the face of the Earth, the BLACK MAMBA!!!!!!!!!

In 2009, the Lakers tuned out the JAZZ, blew up the ROCKETS, ate some chicken NUGGETS, and made the MAGIC disappear!!!  I can't wait for whats in store for 2010!!!  See you at the parade!!!!

LAKERS 4 LIFE! JUST MAKE IT CLAP!!! w00t w00t!!!!!!!!!!!

There are those who will give this team adulation and congrats because of the events a few days ago that crowned these purple clad fools World Champions.....

I won't be one of those who will.  Sorry.  They suck and they will always will......

Phil Jackson may have 10 titles (and he has surpassed Arnold Auerbach....he is 'Red' to us Celtic fans), but he isn't the best coach ever.  Red will always be!  Why you ask???

Red BUILT AND COACHED teams.  He drafted players and developed talent and built the Celtic dynasty.  The Zen Master never did that.  I will give him credit for taming Dennis Rodman back in the day.  Now that's talent!

The parade will be over Wednesday night and reality will set in.  Kobe becomes a year older, the Zen Master will coach his last season, and Ariza will want more coin......

Life goes on, but there is one truism.  The Lakers suck and they always will.

I have been a fanatic ever since my dad would come home, walk up to the TV and change my Tom and Jerry show to channel 9. My Dad  would get home right as Tom's arms were stretched out to grab that little mouse by the neck. To this day, I have yet to know if Tom ever caught Jerry...oh well.

My dad did me a favor! For one, this cat is highly disgusted by mice and two, he made me the fan that I am today!

So what a better night to write this review, but that of the night the Los Angeles Lakers win their 15th NBA Championship title!

They are a DYNASTY. Just accept it you haters! Can't wait  to rock my "I love L.A. Lakers" shirt at the parade!

Congratulations to the 2009 NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers!

Lakers bleed gold and purple

My gf and I went to Michael's Sports Bar in HB last night to watch this glorious victory.  She was hesitant to wear the Kobe jersey I had purchased for her to the bar thinking that she'd be the only girl doing so.  Needless to say, she was not.  Lakers fans were everywhere as the bar erupted with every great play.  It was a bit sloppy near the end, but a win is a win and we are just that much closer to yet another championship!

Keep on fighting Lakers!  As Jack Welch once said, "Control your destiny or somebody else will."

I cried when Magic Johnson got Aids.

I didn't know what Aids was at the time, but i cried.

I grew up with you. I remember in high school when Kobe got drafted. I knew before he got traded that he was coming to LA.

I copied moves all the time from you. No-look passes, the whole LakeShow experience.

I stuck by you during the Nick Van Exel years. I stuck by you during the brian cook and devean george and smush parker years. I poured some drinks when Chick died.

I will always be your darling, your sweetheart.

PS. This game's in the refrigerator: the door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jell-O's jigglin'!:

Barry W gave a good review of the Lakers recently saying the Orlando Magic are a better team than the Lakers.  This is a contrarian view - and, even though I'm a Laker fan, I have to agree with him.  So Laker fans, don't be writing Barry any hate mail; instead, consider the following.

(1) Over the last two seasons, the top 4 NBA teams have the following record against each other:

    Orlando            17 -  9
    Boston              16 - 15
    Los Angeles      7 - 11
    Cleveland         10 - 15

(2) The Lakers were 0 - 2 against the Magic this year.

The Lakers haven't played well against the top 4 NBA teams. In fact, the Lakers, recently, haven't been playing well as a team period.  And, we never know which Odom or Bynum is going to show up; Luke has trouble with turnovers and tentativeness; Fish use to be known as .4 for heroics in San Antonio, but now we think of him as his age, which is 34; Sasha gave himself the nickname "The Machine," it should be "The Clank;"  we all know that Gasol is soft in the paint, and so on...

But, at the end of the day, competitive sports is never about who's the best player or the best team.  If it were, the 69' Mets wouldn't have won the World Series, there wouldn't have been a miracle on ice in 1980 at Lake Placid, New York, and Billy Mills, a virtual unknown, wouldn't have won the 10,000 meters in Tokyo in 1964.

It's really all about heart and seizing the moment.

Considering the 3 heavily contested Western Conference series battles the Lakers were in and how inconsistent they've been playing, if they beat the Magic this year it would be monumental and fall in line with some of the legendary achievements and figures in the Laker's past:  Zeke from Cabin Creek and the 60 footer, Magic fills in at center and sinks a mini- skyhook against the Celtics, the Coop-a-loop, Wilt-the-Stilt and the finger roll, Big Game James filling the lane, Chicky Baby and the damn popcorn machine, McAdoo coming off the bench, Elgin Baylor hanging in the lane and scoring 61, The Hawk gliding to the basket, Goodrich with the silky-smooth southpaw shot, Kareem setting the NBA scoring record, Kobe's ally-oop pass to Shaq, Fish's .4, Silk - always underrated even at UCLA, Horry's buzzer beating three-pointer against the Kings, Shannon Brown throwing it down over the Birdman, 30 NBA Finals appearances, 14 NBA Championships, a lot of great memories...

Starting tonight - let's see who wants it more...

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the classiest professional teams in sports, period.  I do, however, wish (Dr. Jerry) Buss hadn't brought back PJ to coach Mr. "uncoachable" & the Lakers but most of that* seems to be history.  (*Phil labeled Kobe as uncoachable in his book 'The Last Season'.)

I've never given any shout-out's ( IN MY LIFE, because I think they're LAME and they may still be,) but Euno L. - Chick Hearn WAS the best, by far.

The only reason the Lakers DIDN'T win the title last year was because of injuries, and w/ a healthy Ariza, a healthy Bynum will be icing on the Larry Obrien trophy that the team will be hoisting about their head's at the conclusion of this season.

THE BEST TEAM IN THE NBA.. PERIOD.

Kobe IS THE shit and might be MVP of the league, but he isn't the glue that's held this team together throughout the season(s).

Fisher, Bynum, Odom, Vujacic, Radmanovich.. CLUTCH!!!

Gasol, you're pissing me off.. you're a bad ass mother fucker when you wanna be, but lately seem like a big oaf just standing there beneath the basket. Are you waiting for a fucking invitation or something? Let's see some DEFENSE! (boom) (boom) DEFENSE!! (boom) (boom) DEFENSE!!

Ariza.. Chariza.. you're a pretty clutch guy as well, but last night you seemed a little off at Oracle(?). It's okay, I still love you..

Farmar.. slow it down a bit guy!! You've got so much spunk and energy in that teeny little frame of yours that when you're running up and down the court, sometimes you get a little carried away and miss your baskets. It's okay though, you're still awesome.. big ears and all.

Walton.. I'm partial as to whether I really like you or not. Maybe it's because I kinda feel like you were able to get your foot through the door from daddy, but that alone isn't enough to discredit you. You've come through on many occasions and have racked some points up on the score board during crunch time, but I don't know.. there's something about you that I'm not really feeling. Maybe it's because you're a red head?

And where the fuck did Sun Yue come from?! I didn't get the memo..

To all you Laker haters out there, ESPECIALLY Warriors fans.. SUCK IT!!! I'm not even going to talk shit because we all know what's up..

GO LAKERS!!!

The Los Angeles Lakers is the greatest team in basketball and this is Why

Throughout NBA history, the team ranks second in all-time championships(Celtics are first), and have had the most playoff appearances in the 62 years of professional basketball.  The team facts are very impressive.

Think of the major, common household names that came out of this franchise...Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain,  Jerry West, Phil Jackson,  Shaquille O'Neal Kobe Bryant.
And Don't forget one of the greatest commentators of all-time Chick Hearn.  (The game is in the refrigerator... The door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are coolin and the Jell-O is JIGGLIN!!!!")
If you are Laker fan you know how great and important those few sentences were to the Lakers tradition.  The Players have made extreme contributions to the NBA.

The Laker Haters!
I don't think there is a franchise is sports history more hated than the Lakers. I do not know whether its envy, whether they have always historically been a good team, whether they only support underdogs, or whether they hate Kobe, that is the reason for such disdain for the Lakers.

The Lakers this year(08-09) have been extremely impressive. Give great credit to Mitch Kupchak, who had to deal with all the Kobe Trade drama, and Kobe-Shaq dilema. Amidst all this he still managed to keep this team for the most part at the top. The management has been extremely valuable in why the Lakers are a good team.  Jerry Buss, Jerry West, Mitch Kupchak, all great individuals in basketball IQ.

The Clippers, arguably the worst franchise in history has one of the worst management in sports history. There is a reason why when Michael Jordan, left the Chicago Bulls they have been sucking ever since. Management!
Yes when Shaq left the Lakers they sucked, during the early 90s they  barely were a playoff team. BUT Overall, aside from a few bad patches, the management has made the KEY trades, whether it was drafting Kobe Bryant at 13!!! or signing Shaq, getting Pau Gasol for the worst number 1 draft pick (Kwame Brown) or even trading Radmonovic for those two players on the Bobcats, have made the right decisions at the right time.

The Lakers are a great team!!! I have been a fan since the day I could walk. I have watched them when they did not make the playoffs, I watched them when they won championships. I have laughed, cheered, yelled and celebrated along with the Lakers. This is truely a great team, and the best franchise in NBA history.

I hate Kobe = Lakers fail!  (Go Celtics! hehe)
But Odom's pretty cute... so it sort of averages out?
My boyfriend is going to kick my ass when he reads this.

BUT, another reason for my hate is 'cause 98% of the people I know who claim they're hardcore Laker fans are simply following hype.  My boyfriend is one of the few "REAL" fans out there who has obsessed over them before Kobe was even part of the team.

I swear though, I'm waiting for the day he leaves me for Kobe...

I love L.A.  and I love the Lakers.  They are OUR team, no matter what year, win or lose, the Lakers are Los Angeles.

Kobe is perfect.
Pau is perfect.
Fish is perfect.
L.O. is perfect
17 is perfect.
Sasha is perfect.
Trevor is perfect.
Farmar is perfect.
Walton is perfect.
Mihm, Yue, Mbenga, not perfect, but love them anyway.

You live in L.A., you bleed purple and gold.

If you show up to Laker practice and wear a purple and gold jersey, I love you.

Kobe and Colorado: Kobe made a mistake, but he did not commit a crime.  The girl set him up (there is text message and DNA  evidence to prove it); he made mistake in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This team has heart.  Although they are not Showtime, they give me the same rush.

We will defeat the Celtics this year and next year and the next.  Kobe will beat Jordan's record and finally (statistically) top #23.  Kobe = the best player right now, in the past 20 years (Magic and West are the only ones surpass him).

I love Laker haters -- feel the hate because we love.  You are only jealous. Enjoy, we will always DOMINATE (class, history, tradition, L.A. = superior).

Love the Lakers,

Fish, Bynum Farmer are all class cats.

Ariza is a genetic freak. Vlad is kind of a stiff. I can respect Odom. Pau is a guy you watch the whole game doesn't impress you at all and you say "Ohhh snap, he got a double-double??"

Kobe is the most talented physically in the League. However his leadership skills are on par with Richard Nixon.

I do miss Turiaf....tear

However, I almost don't like the Lakers, because of the deuchebag on 570 Vic the Brick. I'm sure a nice guy, but I wouldn't mind him having non-spreading throat cancer.

By the way, my cousin met Luke Walton @ a Lenny Kravitz concert, cool cat.

GO LAKERS!!!! They'll bring it back next year!!!!!! (& Kobe still got the gold! Haha!)

I have a long story here.. so if you're interested in reading, please do =)

My twin (half) brothers have been fans of the Lakers since they came to this county from the Philippines in 1986 (a year before I was born). That same year coming to America, a family member--on my dad's side noticed their unusual way of walking--sort of like a waddle and their enlarged calves. A few months later they were both diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which is a degenerative and genetic disease that effects most of the voluntary muscles (a protein called dystrophin is missing which binds the cells nessesary for proper growth). As twins they were a rare case in a newly discovered disease--Doctors from across the world came to see them and they also helped in research. At 12 years old they had to be confined to wheel chairs and were only given until their late teen years to live.

Since this disease really affected their muscles, they became very skinny and got sick very easily during the winter.

Despite what doctors told our parents, they survived through high school graduating in 1999 at the age of 20, and through community college, graduating in 2001. They worked for the city police activities league doing what else -- Score Keeping for local basketball games.

Christmas 2002, their best friend gave them a gift of Laker Box seat tickets for the January 5th game at the Staples center-- something they've always wanted to be able to do but we could never afford it and it was always kind of hard to travel with the boys. I remember my mom telling them to not get sick so they'd be able to go.

So two weeks later, one of them got a case of a cold, which turned into mild Pneumonia, but he was determined to go and convinced my mom to let him go to the game. She knew this was a dream of theirs so of course she did what any other mom would do and let them go. Their best friend came with his dad, and drove them to the game. Lakers won 109, 97 against the Phoenix Suns (http://sports.espn.go....).

On the way home, the one that had Pneumonia stopped breathing. They were on the PCH and near the fire department and pulled in. They resuscitated him and got him over to the UCLA Medical Center. The next day on January 6th, 2003 My brother passed away, his twin next to his bed.  He was only 23.

His friends became determined to let their story be heard. A close family friend called NBC 4 Los Angeles and told them the story of these two boys. Mario Solis covered the story of the twin marvels that they were and set up a chance for my brother--the surviving twin to meet the entire Laker team.

So broadcasted on the NBC news at 6pm, was my brother's story and him and my mother meeting the entire team at a practice in LA. He met everyone, Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Fox, and even Phil Jackson. The entire team signed his jersey and a ton of memorabilia. But what stood out the most to him was Mark MADDOG Madson.

He pulled up a chair and sat with my brother. (Remembering when we actually bumped into him at LAX one time). He talked with him--even though they were going to catch a flight to Utah for their next game-- and promised him he'll do more for him than just a signed Jersey--which he did.

A few months later my brother received a box addressed to him. We opened it up and inside was an Autographed basketball from the entire team and Phil Jackson, a size 18 Nike basketball shoe signed by Madson himself and also a HANDWRITTEN letter addressed to my brother from Madson. Needless to say, we were shocked.

The whole team took the time to sign this ball and Mark took the time to write a letter directly to my brother, AND send it HIMSELF.

I never really followed too much of basketball back then (except the times where my mom was yelling at the TV from the living room and my brothers cheering in the room across from me), but since then and remembering the time they took out for my brother, I became a bigger fan than I thought.

Not only do these guys play hard, they're not just some kind of money making basketball team. They know the impact they have on people, they know who they inspire.

You can't help but respect this team and WANT to be their fan. They're great players. Nothing can beat that.

PS: I have a video of my bro meeting the team on VHS. I've been meaning to upload it up on YouTube, so whenever I get to do that, I will post it up here on this review.

I miss LA. I miss the Lakers. I wish we could afford to live in LA.

Kobe is the man.

There's this thing I don't think you Lakers fans know:

Lakers are to basketball as the Cowboys are to football as The Red Wings are to hockey as the Yankees are to baseball.

Everyone in the country either loves them or hates them.

I hate them.

*note* I did not grow up here, so there's your reason.
