Los Amigos is the ultimate hangovery breakfast without a doubt. Yes, there's better Tex Mex for lunch/dinner, but these guys have a fantastic breakfast scene and it is cheap. Hit those migas.

Andrea hit the nail on the head. I wasn't hung over, but I was shopping at the Grapevine Farmers' market. Great tomatoes, watermelon, zucchini and other stuff there. I just love visiting and hanging out with everyone too.
So, since Los Amigos is closed for breakfast during the week, I thought, "what could be better than a little chilequiles for breakfast?" Answer - nothing!
I really liked what they had. The chips were lightly dusted with paprika, the salsa was fresh and pale pink. Raw onion, raw tomatoes. It was a salsa cruda for sure. A small glass of what I feared was going to be non-fresh OJ turned out to be a kind obanana drink - made with fresh bananas. Again delicious.
The chilequiles were the weakest link. They were good, don't get me wrong, but they were a bit one dimensional. Too much corn not enough egg and hot peppers.
This could become a habit. A little farmers' market action followed by breakfast at Los Amigos.

I can't beleive no one has commented on the breakfast. Now I have never had their lunch but have had the breakfast mutiple times. It is outstanding!! You must order the machicato (spelling?). I don't beleive it is on the menu but they will always serve it. It is eggs with this dried meat mixed in. They ask you how spicy you want it b/c they will add peppers and onions. They also serve it with a red sauce on the side. You also get refired beans and rice and beans are great, rice is ok.
Laslty, they serve you a purple juice drink as soon as you sit down and it is wonerful. It almost makes you feel heathly to drink it. They serve it in a small glass and I always want more but never ask, as it is complimentary drink. Oh--great chips and salsa as well. That is a MUST!

When you first walk in the door a humid sauna from the oddly placed fountain that is way too big for the tiny entry way greets you. Friendly staff. I ordered tomatillo sauce chicken enchiladas. I thought the tortillas were on the tough inflexible side. The chicken had been cooked with tomatoes with made for an odd taste mixed with tomatillo sauce and gave them a strange bleeding appearance. The tomatillo sauce seemed to lack zing. Guadalupe's a couple blocks away is better in the tomatillo sauce arena. It's ok Mexican food but like another reviewer wrote, there's better to be found. Maybe the key is to go with something off the house speciality list but enchiladas are not the ticket here.

I work directly across the street from Los Amigos and since my boss orders lunch for us everyday, I definitely get to experience different tastes throughout the Grapevine area, and Los Amigos is one that we definitely order from on multiple occasions.
The staff are very friendly and treat you like family, so much so that you are greeted by the owner Arturo as you first enter the building. He welcomes you with a firm and friendly handshake and then quickly finds you a table. The service is quick and before you can even begin a conversation with a friend, your food will arrive hot and ready to go.
I typically stick to the tamale lunch special with meat sauce and an iced tea. Each lunch combo comes with rice and beans and the rice definitely leaves a LOT to the imagination and the beans look like they are straight from a can of refried beans. The tamales are average, though I'm not sure what an EXCELLENT tamale is supposed to taste like, but I do like the chips and salsa. The salsa is fresh and carries a little kick with it.
Like everyone has said, it barely gets 3 stars with the plethora of tex-mex restaurants in the DFW area that offer so much better mexican food, and to be honest, once you're done with your order, the wait staff seems to forget about you. I had to get up a few times to request more tea and more chips and that was a little disheartening...don't FORGET ABOUT ME while I'm still sitting down.

There is too much other good mexican around to give this more than 3 stars. But overall this place is good. My dad seems to enjoy it more than the rest of the family, and since he normally drives to dinners, he tends to take us here. I can find things I like, you can't go wrong with enchiladas, and if I do ever go wrong with them, I guaruntee you all will be the first to know.
This small restaurant has always served good food at very reasonable prices. The service is very friendly and fast. It can get busy during lunch so get there early.
