Derek is a very professional massage therapist.  He is very knowledgeable about the anatomy and physiology of the body.  I have suffered chronic hip and lower back pain for five years. I was diagnosed with Piriformis syndrome and sciatic pain. I had been treated by multiple physical therapists, orthopedic physicians, chiropractors and massage therapists.  Using the other therapies had increased my range of motion and decreased my pain.  However, I still experienced pain that affected my ability to perform high impact activities.  I am active and prior to my injury loved to kayak, hike, run, ride horses and travel.  After starting deep tissue massage therapy with Derek, I have been able to return to all of the activities I love.

    Jennifer was amazing!
One of the best massage therapists.

My only complaint is the location:  Loosen Up Bodywork shares a location with other medical offices, and I must have shown up when the office closes (around 5).
So, I could hear people outside the room and the other office doors opening and closing.

How do you write a review for someone who has practically cured you of chronic pain after 3 years? How about this: I give her an eleven.

These are the doctors I have seen in the last 3 years all of whom had no idea what was wrong with me: spinal specialist, physical therapist, chiropractor, and 3 different primary care doctors. All the meds they could throw at me never helped a bit.

    Gina is amazing. Here's why:

    1. She's really good at her job.  She can feel everything from the outside just as if she were in my brain and I can notice the progress that we make at each session.

    2. She has given me the tools and knowledge to continue my progress at home. What this means is that I am able to recover a lot faster with daily rather than weekly therapy. It's amazing because the more therapy I do at home the less I need to go in to see Gina but she only cares about what is best for me. Home therapy has given me my sanity back. Having the ability to do anything to make myself feel better takes the desperation out of chronic pain.

    3. She treats me like an intelligent person who is capable of understanding my condition. She has taught me a lot about what exactly is wrong, about muscle structure, muscle behavior and home therapy.

    4. She's generally fun to be around and talk to, which is always an added plus!

Make an appointment with Gina, you will be so glad you did!

I've had an issue with my shoulder for a while and I was on the look out for a massage therapist who actually understood my muscles. She worked on my shoulder and suggested that I go in for a couple of weeks so that the stress would come off and it worked! After the string of visits to ease the stress off of my muscles, I now go see her at least once a month.
Gina gets it, I believe her hands know muscles. I recently found out that she even teaches at a massage school. That says a lot about her experience!
Every person I've asked about Gina or referred to her have been extremely happy with her.

I've only seen Gina once (I'm booking my second appointment when I'm done with this review) but I'm willing to say this early on that she is amazing. I've suffered from severe tension headaches for more than 14 years. A massage usually gives me a day or two of relief at most, but after seeing Gina just once I felt good for THREE WEEKS! That has never happened before, and I've been to countless physical therapists, massage therapists, even rolfers and nothing has really worked. I will update after more sessions, but I'm positive that she's going to put an end to my chronic pain.

Gina Tibbs is one of the best massage therapist that I have been to. She is also where I send my patients for massage therapy when requested or as a referral. Gina has a mastery of different techniques to help with the variety of conditions that present in a health care office. Her knowledge of kinesiology is obvious when you are on her table. I highly recommend her.

I am one very blessed person - especially when it comes to bodywork.  I've had more hours on the massage table with some very talented practitioners than most people have in a life time.  My experience increases my expectations...

So when I first went to Gina, I was delighted.  I think she's talented, insightful, intuitive, and committed to the physical wellbeing of her clients.  She suggests specific stretches or other at-home techniques that will help me continue the work we did on the table.

And she's fun!  If you're looking for a massage therapist in the area, give Gina a try.  You'll be in good hands.

Gina, is the best and my favorite massage therapist. I do a lot of physical work as a personal trainer so I go to her 2-3 times a month. I can definitely feel a big difference in how my body moves after my sessions with her and the benefits get even better over time. I also have a lot of tightness on my right shoulder which has greatly improved after seeing her consistently.

She has a good knowledge about the human body which not all massage therapists have. She is definitely at the top of her craft and you will not get disappointed when you schedule a massage with her.

As someone who has formerly ran the massage program for Sonoma State Campus Rec, and growing up in a household with stepdad who did massage therapy, I know a thing or two about massage.
I know for a fact that Gina has consistently demonstrated above and beyond what a massage experience should entail.  Gina provided expertise, as well as relief.
I found Gina through yelp looking for a massage immediately to deal with the tennis ball sized knot in my traps, not only has Gina helped alleviate this, but she has helped my entire body  to restore range of motion, and above all, reduce pain!
I rely on my body to be pain free and have good range of motion as I demand a lot from it being a personal trainer, group exercise instructor and MBA student. Booking appointments with her is easy, she's very professional, obviously very skilled (she also teaches at Milan- if you're thinking about pursuing massage as a career- go there!) and an overall good person. (I highly value good people, so should you!)

Bottom line: amazing. helpful. highly recommended

I've tried a lot of massage therapists; Gina is the best. She's got great knowledge of the body. As someone that recently started training for triathlons, I need a massage therapist that can do deep tissue as well as functional massage to make sure my body is ready for the next workout or race.

Gina knows how to get the knots out. And, find the knots you didn't know you had.

Strong hands, intuitive touch...Gina manages to find all the areas that are holding tension in my body and patiently works to release them.  Her immense knowledge of the body shows in her work.  She has also been helpful in teaching me how to use my foam roller and thera bands for some extra stretching & strengthening at home. Highly recommend her!

Being new to the area (and having left behind my massage therapist of several years), I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Gina! After hours of research, based on Yelp's reviews, I chose Gina as my first attempt with a new therapist - everyone's reviews are spot-on! Much like the other reviewers here, I know the importance of having a massage therapist that truly understands the body's muscles and stress points and how to work out all the accumulated stress/tension on each unique individual. She is a master at her craft and I will be back again and again! Another note: make sure to communicate! Every time I bring something up, Gina is always happy to provide amazing insight and feedback on what you can do on your own to help alleviate those issues so you're being progressive and proactive!

After receiving many massages in the Bay Area, I was thrilled to find Gina.  She is the best and I won't go to anyone else.  Excellent for deep tissue, sports related injuries and pre-natal.  Once you try Gina you won't want to use anyone else.

I've worked with Gina for Massage-and-Dinner nights for couples; she and her colleagues provided the massages, I provided the chefwork. She's always punctual and professional. Her clients are always on Cloud 9 after their massages. I recommend her highly.
