A very nice diver-centric hotel. .
They have two large rinse tubs and a area large enough that a group of 6-8 divers can get their gear rinsed out quickly.
The staff is very nice.
The rule about getting there before 11PM is not negotiable. The lights are out and you are SOL if you show up there late.
Good, clean, inexpensive rooms away from the downtown area, but located just one exit on the freeway away.
The in-room coffee is actually pretty good. There are refrigeraters and VCR/DVD players in all the rooms. (If you don't happen to travel with your favorite DVDs, there is a Blockbuster DVD rental place across the street.)
The rooms are clean and quiet, which I appreciated very much.
The indoor jacuzzi room also has a sauna and a couple of exercise machines.
I noticed that there were at least 3 sporting goods stores located within a quarter mile away.
If you're in town for a visit to the aquarium, ask about their "Aquarium Package" that includes 2 two-day tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
This place was refurbished no tell motel from the 70's with no taste. A big mistake, way over priced with a psycho lady at the front desk. We went down for a pleasant weekend of scuba diving only to find hostile front desk staff and an over priced room; $50 less for the same accomadations down the road... If your going to run a dive you might as well offer cheap rooms! Whatever you do dont ask for a late check out...
This is a great place to stay if you're a diver. The rooms are very clean but they're a little dated. It's not the best place to come for a romantic weekend but I always stay here when I come down to Monterey alone. There is a great rinse place for scuba gear and you get a discount if you tell them you're a diver when you make your reservations. You do have to be careful with your gear I lost a hood here once which I'm sure someone grabbed by accident.
Prepare to either hold your breath or to be asphyxiated when you check in at the lobby because the really nice people that run the place are heavy smokers.

Good budget option if you're in Monterey. Would have gotten four stars, but when I made the online reservation I got stuck in a smoking room and not a non-smoking as I requested. Room smelled like cigarettes, but I didn't really notice it on the second day.
Bathrooms are very clean, and I dug the soap dispensers. :)
Oh...and free wireless internet is definitely a plus.

Good diver's motel. I think there were 2 rinsing stations. The rooms are decent. The king bed jacuzzi/fireplace room we stayed in had a huge jacuzzi in there can probably fit 2 large people. It's in a separate locked room...we filled it up with overflowing bubbles. I think the room was around $100. Has shower and bath...with separate heat control in the bathroom from the rest of the room.
Has fridge but no microwave. Coffee pot...no breakfast. But still worth it.
There is also a communal jacuzzi and sauna room.

I'm not a diver, so I'm not compelled to give this place more than three stars. But it is a decent budget motel (splurge on the in-room jacuzzi and fake fireplace).
My girlfriend and I stayed here about six years ago and, from the likes of the current reviews, it seems to be more or less the same.
I'd definitely try to score a room here for the Jazz Festival weekend.
Nothing fancy, but clean and cheap. Have stayed here a couple of times, and they have several different room styles, including some with kitchenettes and in-room jacuzzi. If you are going for a cheap stay, the rooms are inexpensive, clean, and quiet. There is a hot tub and sauna for general use if you don't splurge on the in-room deal...
This hotel is apparently a favorite with divers in Monterey. The rooms are set up to take a beating, and they'll let you cram as many people per room as you want. They have rinsing stations and clotheslines for your gear, and a hot tub and sauna for your recovery.

Simple motel, no frills but reasonably priced for Monterey. GREAT for divers - they have a wash tub plus hooks outisde the room to dry your gear. Mention you're a diver to get a "diver's discount."

Nice place, and reasonable, even during the Blues Festival. Friendly, accomodating and helpful. Nice location, close to everything. We'll go back.
