I don't know how this place got four stars from others. Clearly they haven't tried Jay's Fish and Chips in Hayward, off of foothill.
I went into this place after work for dinner yesterday. The interior of the place looked kinda dirty. There was one other person there.
I ordered the fish and chips meal. The fish pieces which is polluck, were huge. But I didn't really like the batter. And you can't choose the kind of fish you want. My boyfriend got the shrimp and chips. We also shared the mushroom appetizer and a baked pork bun.
The mushrooms and pork buns were really good.
This place is in the back cuts of the SLZ. Everytime you pass by McDonalds you see the small sign that says London Fish-N-Chips but you wonder where it is. Well its in that little plaza but hidden in the back back area. I had to try it out and it was pretty good. I love the deep fried fish and oysters. Just slap some of that viniger sauce on it and your good to go. Staff are pretty nice.
Food: Good
Service: Fast
Parking: Plenty
Decor: None
3 Stars for London FNC
Ignore the dingy indoor motif. Ignore the boring walls. Ignore the fact that your "London" fish and chips are being cooked by some people that are very obviously not from London. Just pay attention to the fish and chips. Pay attention to the crab and scallops. Pay attention to the menu cuz I promise you, despite appearances, these guys do cook a mighty good fish and chip special! Its a hidden gem for fish and chips in HAYWARD of all places!
Your food is cooked to order, so your fish is piping hot when you get it. The chips too. If memory serves me correctly they offer fresh and imitation crab, scallops, and I think burgers might be on the menu too.
If this place had a more inviting interior, I'd totally give it five stars. As is though, it looks a bit run down and sad. Perhaps more patronage will get them to revamp their look! So go! Check this place out! You'll enjoy the cod!

I agree. I don't know how the other people rated this so high. Although I've had Jay's before and it was much better.
this place is hidden gem. located next a a big d, look for the london fish & chip sign just before the mcd sign on hesperian.
london is located in the far corner.
the fish comes from icelandic cod, not chinese pollock. they do a great job on the fish. fries are so so. fried mushrooms are nice also.
not much of a choice on brews. there's a full bar a few doors down.
tried the fried prawns, not bad.

This place has some good fish and chips. They gave me one of the largest fish fillets I have ever eaten. Everything was good and was made to order. The guy even dipped the fish bits in the batter right after i ordered it (doesn't get any fresher than this). While this shouldn't be mistaken for health food, it is pretty damn tasty. The best fish n chips in nor cal and definitely not frozen.
