The restaurant is a nice, relaxing spot, but the food was a disappointment. Mexican food is my favorite and I try to visit every one that I see.
I ordered the (pork) tamale, beef burrito and enchilada combo.
Before it's arrival, I was given tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were ok, nothing to write home about. The salsa had zero spice to it, which was a bit of a surprise because it seemed plainer than I had expected. I mean, minor taste.
When my lunch arrived, I was surprised to see three very similar-looking items, varying only by length. Even the tamales, in the dim lighting, very much resembled the other two items (I'm attaching a photo for your review).
All three items were covered in the same cheese (a very light amount) and what tasted like tomato sauce. To be honest, it all tasted mildly like ravioli. I was stunned. I knew which was which and the pork and breading in the tamale were fair, but I couldn't get past that bland taste. We're talking meat, sauce and bread - that's it. I honestly couldn't remember a single restaurant or friend's house (I grew up in a Black and Latino community in the Chicago area) that tasted quite like this. I'm not saying it was a "bad" meal, but there wasn't anything truly enjoyable about it.
The service was a little less than desired, as my server came by only once to check on me. In fact, it was a good 20 minutes after I was done before he came with my check, which I had to stop him for.
I don't know that I'll be back, but I'm not going to say I was mad about anything. Just disappointed. Who knows? You may love it...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 342213252Nov 24, 2017
If you're looking for a hometown authentic Mexican restaurant experience this is definitely not the place to go. After visiting other, much better Mexican restaurants on the Northeast side of Columbus this would be my last choice; won't be coming back.
Although I can't really say anything was "bad" I can't say I really enjoyed any aspect of the experience. Okay, the margarita was actually bad: obviously a pre-made mix, and very small; Tasted like sour mix, barely any salt sticking to the tiny plastic cup.
Food was simply average. Bland. No spices. Tortilla chips were obviously from a bag and salsa had minimal, and I mean MINIMAL flavor. I Ordered enchiladas with pork, the Meat was tender but the sauce was not authentic, (tasted sweet like bbq sauce) and was lacking flavor.
Service was fine, no complaints. Prices were average. Drink prices were cheap but you get what you pay for here... low quality.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2015
4 stars for their extremely strong margaritas. They put el vaquero to shame. I got the frozen strawberry margarita and it was super strong..The margarita on the rocks will be even stronger.
Chips always fresh and come out warm. Excellent complimentary salsa..Always have the same friendly wait staff. Typical mexican food. Again, 4 stars for the margaritas. They sure do know how to make them with love!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 9, 2014
Wandered over while Firestone was putting tires on my car. Typical strip-mall Tex-Mex. Friendly service, though it seemed a little slow considering that they weren't busy at 1pm on a weekday. I had the lunch special chimichaga, mainly because it had been years since I had one. When it arrived I almost regretted my choice since it was pretty small. It tasted good, and the rice and beans with it were fine. I got some flan to fill my belly a bit more, and it was good- creamy, with nice caramel sauce.
Bottom line- I might be back. The food was decent but not great. The prices were excellent. I think I paid $11 before the tip. There aren't many food options nearby; if there were, this would not be in the running.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 391355836Jul 16, 2012
SWOON!
Happy, bright, not loud, intimate, great service... and on and on.
The other reviewers have it spot on, a "local chain" come to Columbus with 4 other locations outside Franklin County. It will knock your socks off.
The guac is extremely flavorful and not spicy. You can add your own hot sauce to kick it up if you would like or possibly request an add of fresh jalapenos to it. It's very smooth, I like mine a bit chunkier, but the flavor trumps all!
The chips? AH-mazing. Always still hot, not greasy at all. just awesome.
Salsa has a good flavor, again I'd like mine a bit chunkier, but the flavor!! yum
I got a vegetarian combo plate with mine, but subbed in a spinach quesadilla. SOOO good. Not greasy, you could tell the spinach was fresh and not sitting around pre-cooked. This spinach mix comes with mushroom and onions in it. ZOMG! So good with the chihuahua cheese. (picture included)
My companion got the quesadilla hawaiianios that featured both chicken and chorizo. He loved it! He actually changed to that selection after I asked the server what his favorite thing on the menu was. (picture included)
The server was just awesome - perfectly attentive and my water was always filled.
An odd thing to notice, the restrooms were very nicely located. Not one diner would have to look in on them or the foot traffic thereof. Very clean.
The booths and chairs are darling, colorful and fun!
Can't wait for the margaritas and tecate to come in November!!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Sep 2, 2012
$6 all you can eat for lunch monday through saturday, it dosn't get much better than that!
We were starving and kept asking them if they are sure we can order anything off the menu and as much as we want for $6 each?!! Really?
So we ordered 2 of each item a la carte (one chicken/one beef) and one of each side item.
(yes, we are complete pigs...)
The food came out pretty fast and the service was fine.
Tastewise it was pretty much your average Columbus mexican food, fairly good but not earthshattering or worth going back for.
If you are really hungry and in the mood for mexican like we were this fits the bill.
The place is clean, the decor is the typical mexican brightly painted wood that we see so often in mexican restaurants all around Columbus nowadays.
A fine, cheap lunch.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Tia W.Fuquay-Varina, NC46484Oct 28, 2017
Went in on a random Sunday afternoon with my husband. We loved the food and was greeted at the door with a smile and a few jokes. We felt welcome and comfortable. Menu was easy to eat and understand. The have a lot of food to offer and at a great price. My husband got the chicken fajitas that were on the Sunday special and it came out hot and steamy. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. Both dishes were served with fresh Pico, lettuce, beans and rice. Everything was great, fresh and fast. Will return if in the area again.

Brand new place!! Got a mailer announcing their Grand Opening... and a great $5 off coupon too... how could one pass that up??!!
It's located in the Kroger strip mall on Sunbury and 161...
Strip mall on outside, VERY nice and new inside!!
Lots of color!! All the seats are caved and painted with characters, animals, etc... felt like I was south of the border.
Our server greeted us immediately and was very friendly; .
I ordered the Cameron Burrito.... stuffed with grilled shrimp, onions, mushrooms, etc. Also served with all the fixings. (see my pic). FULL OF FLAVOR!! I was very pleased with my selection and would definitely get it again!!!
Their menu selections is great... TONS to choose from! Signs said they also had a huge lunch selections of all you can eat of pretty much anything... DANGEROUS!!
They are still waiting on their liquor license though.... was told October-ish, so no Margaritas yet...
Overall, I loved this new place and can't wait to go back and try some more items!!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Aaron A.Columbus, OH445248278Jun 17, 2013
I had a lazy, day off lunch at Lomas Del Sol. The place is eye-popping color everywhere. All of the furniture is covered in scenes of life in Mexico. It's a fun atmosphere.
We were really hungry, therefore the chips and salsa at Lomas Del Sol are the best ever.
I went for the $7 lunch thing they were advertising. It's all you can eat from a menu that includes pretty much anything you could ask for from a Mexican restaurant. I had some tacos and flautas. Everything was tasty and fresh. I thought it was a good deal.
I also tried a Texas Margarita, gold tequila and delicious Grand Marnier on the rocks. It packed a nice punch, the smallest size is plenty of margarita for this gringo.
Thinking about it now makes me hungry. I would gladly go back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - John K.Colorado Springs, CO5392Mar 17, 2019
I enjoy Mexican restaurants like this. Their service was great, friendly and attentive. The food was an 8.5 out of 10. I had the Pork Carnitas and a Supreme Burrito (chicken). The prices are more than fair for the area. I love low key Mexican restaurants like this; where they rely on the authenticity of the food and not the decor or margaritas to attract customers.
