Best Bloody Mary I've ever had, hands down. (and FOUR DOLLARS on a Sunday--served in a pint glass!)

Atmosphere isn't bad either, could totally get down with watching football on some old-tymey velour couches.

Fun!

Really big patio/garden area, and even though it was kind of raining, I stuck it out in the rain drops, because otherwise it was so nice out there!  The bar wait for a drink was not bad at all, even on a Saturday night.  The lounge area looked fun and cozy too.  There's a pool table and darts.

I really enjoyed myself and will definitely go back soon.

One gripe:  They weirdly sort of suggest table service if you're sitting outside or in the lounge, but then had one really bad waitress working both areas.  On out last round, we finally gave in and ordered from her, only to wait forever for her to return one beer short.

That aside, love Loki Lounge.

This place is one of those really-hard-to-review places because there's three distinctly different reasons to be here.

1) It's one of the first nice days of summer (which it seems we are never going to get this year) and you've been drinking since noon brunch and just want to sit outside.

Well, Loki's great for that. Sure, the bartender will be slightly bemused when you ask for something fruity* which he will pour heavy-handedly, most likely because y'all's drunk asses are amusing him. The bar will be empty but there will be plenty of people out back with their kids making you feel old and as though you are an unproductive member of society.**

2) You need a late-night place to hang out with loud, thumpin' music and service so your poor tootsies don't get mangled going to and from the bar.

Come the evening, this place changes its' stripes and becomes much more of a club with plenty of good music and a crowded, different vibe. The bar area is long and fairly crowded, but at least not three-deep with people trying to get the bartender's attention. The jukebox kind of gets in the way there, but for the most part it's fine.

In the back, though, are all sorts of couches and chairs, many the kind you'd expect to see in your grandparents' house but for whatever reason they work here. Be advised, though: if you sit here, they will expect you to purchase your drinks from a server, not from the bartender.

3) You want to meet a significant other. True story -- friends of mine met here at a birthday party for a mutual friend. Three (four?) years later, they're still together.

They ought to use that in advertising.

* - The drink. We'd been having sangria all day and I didn't want to switch to beer.

** - You'll be drunk, so you won't notice this.

Loki is a fun bar, hands down.  They have good drink specials and an equally good selection of haughty beer while still keeping Coors Light on tap for people like be who don't want to drink Heffwiezenweinerschnitzelbrau.

Their music is always good and when the weather is nice, the patio is great.  The couches are almost always empty because no one wants to pay for drink service.  Take note, Loki.  Would be nice to grab a beer from the bar and sit on one of those comfy velvet couches.

I have been to Loki Lounge numerous times, and have always had a great time. They have a large back patio, that is great in the summer (or even in the fall if you don't mind the cool weather)! You can keep yourself entertained with pool or darts, or relax on the couches in the back. A major plus is that it never seems to take long to get a drink, even when it's busy. This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a relaxed night where you can sit with friends, and enjoy a few drinks.

The good - the outdoor space; the dart board; the pool table; the couches if you're early enough.

The bad - when it gets crowded the layout is slightly awkward, and there's a lot of unnecessary feelings of mashedness.

The ugly - one bartender/DJ - not sure of his name - but super rude when taking drink orders, and he actually kicked over my takeout containers still full of yummy food from Song. And I'm pretty sure it was on purpose.

The conclusion - yeah, there are some good things, but in a neighborhood with so many similar bars why go to one that's so full of douche?

The dart board is in good condition so that's a plus

The bar is fairly long, so not bad seating during the work week only

The lounge area in the back is wait-service only which is annoying, in bar senarios its better to be able to go to the bar and have your own tab...

overall, not opposed to if if the friends are going, but not my standard hangout either, mostly due to lack of seating

Nice couches in back, good atmosphere.  This place does get packed on some weekends.  Booze here ain't special.  They have Gennessee on tap.  I had it once because I wanted to try it, since I grew up watching the commercials.  Damn you, tv.  It's disgusting...And what's more, it's like $6!  Yeesh, what a mistake.  Eh, at least I tried it.  It's almost like Coney at the freak show when they're like, "for an extra $1, you can see the mysterious flattened toad that can come back to life, reinflating its organs to 100x its original sinful size."  and you pay, and it's just a sheet of paper with a fan behind it that blows it up.  They didn't lie, it was just plain crappy.

i'd WANTED to sit on the patio at the gate, like all the OTHER cool kids on 5th Ave, but sadly getting there at 658 PM there was not a picnic table to be HAD.  sauntering into the back garden at Loki -- plenty of tables, also much quieter than the Gate.  overall preferable outdoor space.  I'm not sure I'll ever go back to the gate to be honest.

normally i come here for free darts and pool, but after a certain time the back area is waiter-ized, which means you have to order your drinks from the cocktailer.  kinda lame if you ask me, and not so good for groups who want to sit on the couch.

I went here for pre-dinner cocktails on a verrry casual valentine's day...it was very chillaxed, very sweet.  my bf claims it is massively bumpin' during the week, but we got a seat at the bar (the whole night was pretty quiet...recession kills the mood).  drinks were great, though the refills were a little slow...

i see lots of chatter here about couches and fireplaces -- i got so distracted by my delish cocktail (read: strong) that i never really looked around.  and while i would have definitely gone back had there been no promise of cushy seating, i know feel there are additional reasons to re-patronize...

This place is nice and cozy and was not crowded on my first visit...which is what drew me to it. It's a lot bigger than many neighborhood bars and has a nice loungey area in the back with plenty of couches. The problem with the couches though, is that they may look comfy but they aren't. I sat on two couches before parking myself on a third...and was lucky that it was empty enough to choose.

There's also a pool table if you're in the mood, and the bar has your standard drinks with decent wines. Not too expensive either.

When I heard we were coming here, I immediately thought of Loki, who always fought against Thor, Almighty God of Thunder, in comic books. God I hated that guy.

That being said, Loki is definitely no Valhalla (the home of Odin, not the place in Midtown). It sort of has a split personality, because in the front end of the place is the bar on the right, with TV screens above the bar for sports viewing. Keep walking and you'll hit the pool table, with the restrooms right in front of the pool table. Just ahead of that is a dartboard for, you know, darts.

But then this is where Loki becomes something better: you walk past a red curtain and you come into a lounge with couches and coffee tables and a fireplace. If only they had really separated the two rooms from one another, that would have been something. Still, I liked this area a lot. For a Saturday night, we were able to procure two couches right away, which was cool. We weren't able to get by the fireplace but that didn't matter.

A few points off, however, for the inconsistent waitress service. She told us, as soon as we got there, that she would be in and out of this area all the time, so we didn't have to worry about walking to the bar. Needless to say, it felt like eons before she would come to the lounge. One time, we saw her just standing and talking at the bar. Guess her definition of "all the time" differed from ours.

There is also a patio in the back of the bar, where there are even more tables and yes, you can actually smoke out there.

All in all, a rad place that I wouldn't mind coming back to again.

PS I forgot to mention the two Coors Light girls that were there, giving away free hats and T-shirts to whomever bought a Coors Light. I didn't get one but my friend got one for me, because she's cool like that.

Most of my reviews start with a horrible pun about the name of the place or how I actually thought it was spelled when I heard it. I don't want to do that for this review. Loki is a very chill spot, there are couches to relax on in the back and a comfortable bar to cozy up on. In between the couches and the bar is a pool table.

Highlights: $5 dollar New Castles, Beastie Boys played a bunch of times and the girl I met.

A good spot to get yourself a $4 bloody mary in the middle of the afternoon.  Served with a celery stick, not too strong, but very peppery and with a fine kick.

I've only been here when it's quiet, so not sure how it is on a packed night, but it's not so horrible a thing to try and cater to various tastes within the same venue.  Maybe I'll be back.  I'm told that the back lounges are nice when it's cold out and they get the fireplace going.

Bar in the front, couches in the back, patio outside.  Despite the different zones and seeming perks, for some reason nothing congeals here into anything exceptional.

Maybe it's the un-cozy interior design, the too-high ceilings, the diffuse odor of urine, the general disrepair...  Whatever it is, Loki won't get you down but it's won't get you up.  A solid three-stars.

One of my favorite bars in Park Slope.  It has a good selection of drafts, usually has a good crowd but isn't too crowded that you can't find a spot to sit or stand.  In the back, there's a pool table and darts and beyond that, a lounge area with comfy couches and a fireplace.  It's sort of the best of all worlds, all rolled into one.

Loki, the god of mischief.  The name denotes a lounge that may be more mischievous than it truly is. In actuality, I like this place because it is consistently harmless, with a broad mix of clientele, and not meat-markety at all.  Prices are average, not particularly cheap or expensive, with a nice selection of beers on tap. 1 pool table that separates the bar area from the loungey couch and fireplace section in the back. I tend to prefer weekday off nights here, with a friend or two.  Not the best place for groups or on weekends, since it does get crowded/loud and has minimal seating.

If you do get to come here on an off night, the area in front of the fireplace is particularly nice!

I have trouble pitching this spot to friends as a venue for the evening.  It's moody.  I like it a lot, but it's moody.  I've tried to distill some sort of pattern as to how the nights here might pan out.  Is it governed by the days of the week?  The alignment of stars?  The schedules of pro sporting events?  I have no clue.  I've tried in vain to pinpoint what I call a "Loki Convergence", but I can't seem to lock it down.

Like a bipolar friend, it's incredibly up when it's up, and it incredibly down when it's down.  One night you might come in and have the best time of your life.  A week later, you're surrounded by frat kids and/or investment bankers, wondering if it was all an illusion.

As for the establishment itself, the front section is a well-appointed (and large) bar area with nice flat-panel televisions to show your favorite games.  The middle area holds a pool table and an area for darts.  The rear of the interior is a large room full of antique couches, lots of velvet drapery, and a fireplace: ready for relaxed lounging.  In the back is an enormous outdoor patio to enjoy an evening out under the stars.

My advice: bring a group of adventurous buddies who are up for anything.  I've learned the hard way (several times) that this is not the place to bring a mixed group of friends with mixed tastes.

If your into laid back comfortable places with drinks, low lights and decent music Loki is for you. Fortunately for me my gf and I are into that so it suited us perfectly. it has a part in the back separated by tall curtains from the bar area which is pretty cool and there a waiter that comes and takes your order...they also have an outside seating area to for the nice Summer days. I forgot to mention the dart game and the pool table...

It's a bar. Pure and simple bar. With sports on the TVs, beers on the taps, a pool table, and darts.

Nothing Lounge-y about it. Very releaxed lives up to the name (loki, low-key, get it? get it?)

You'll never be embarassed to bring a friend here, but you proably won't impress them either. It's just a good neighborhood bar.

I was more than pleasantly surprised by my night out at Loki Lounge. The long wide bar was both comfy and bustling, the drinks tasty, large and appropriately-priced. Our bartender GR took good care of us too.
On a Saturday night, Loki was neither too loud or too quiet, too trendy or too divey--in short, everything I look for in a bar, short of a little dancin' action.
Hooray!  At long last, I think I can say that I have a favorite neighborhood bar. I can't wait to go back!

~Update: Went back two weeks later and GR remembered our names and our drinks. For that he earns Loki the coveted fifth star!~

As has probably been mentioned before, there are tons of cushy couches, oriental rugs, and overstuffed chairs in the back.  There is also a large screen back there for game days, and if you get there early, you can reserve it for whatever game you're watching (Go Steelers!) by asking the bartender.

They make a mean bloody mary on weekend afternoon, and since they don't have food, you can order out from nearby restaurants. It has a great neighborhood feel and entertaining (though sometimes mean) bartenders.

Definitely better on an off-night with a group of your own peeps.  It seems Loki just doesn't know what it wants to be, so it tries hard to be several locales.  Pool and darts and TVs?  check.  DJ and dancing?  check.  Fireplacey, couchy, snuggly lounge?  check.

So come on an off night, when you and your posse can enjoy any combination of the three without a huge crowd.  I especially recommend the couchy snuggling bit on cold winter nights.

I went to Loki for the first time recently.  It was a Saturday night around 2:30am.  So it was not crowded at all.  The bar is divided into the front w/ a long bar which leads you to a pool table and dart board.

Continuing beyond that is a room divided by several velvet curtains.  I immediately fell in love with this room. It is all exposed brick w/ a sunlight above (I'm sure it's cool during the day), the bar has very high ceilings with several windows also covered in velvet curtains.  The furniture is of the Victorian/Brocade/Velvet nature.  Beyond this is an outdoor garden, but it was closed because it was so late when I was there.  I will definitely be going back though. I really want to have a private party in this room.
Drinks were affordable too, $11 for the Blue Point and Tanq/Tonic we got.

I went there once early in the evening, like 6ish for a cold beer and was sad that it was so quiet. I went back a few months later, just recently, and it rocked.
I've been back several times and haven't been disappointed. Where else can you go to a bar in the front, pool table and darts in the middle and lounge in the back and spend only $3/beer.
I recommend going around 9ish to secure a spot on the long pool list. Watch out for the "sharks" and people who take the game wayyyyy too seriously for a night out with the friends, sheesh!

This place has never really hit the mark for me. The bartenders are not overly friendly, and one thing that sticks out in my mind is the night I wound up there with a friend and we wanted to watch the UFC match going on that night. We were about one side-eye away from being rudely told that they do not play that event--only baseball, football and basketball. Way to go Loki for being open minded!! I have also gone in there ONCE during football season and was ignored as I waited patiently for a beer for ten minutes. (It wasn't even that crowded either, and I'd be willing to bet because the football fans like me are smart and go to 200 Fifth.) I finally got that one beer and left. Went to 200 Fifth.

As for the pool table--almost full sized, red felt, nice balance, nice sticks, though stained with liquor stains and people still put their drinks on the table (a pet peeve of mine). However, I have never really gotten a friendly game on the table. I am treated rudely by the men I beat. Plus the overall vibe, even when I have attempted to go with a group of friends and try to bring our own vibe, has the power to dampen even our most energetic nights.

I have only been here three times and three times I have been disappointed. It has an outdoor space, so that's a plus. The beer selection is slightly above average. I have had rude bartenders twice. Once, a few years ago, when I asked what the toasted lager was like, I was told "it's toasted lager." Thanks. Another time, the bartender took the drink order of the person in front of me and then said, "I'm still listening!" I had no idea what he was talking about until the person in front of me said, "I think he wants your order too." I'm not hard to please and I enjoy a little sass, but that's just weird.

Oh Loki. Interesting place. Kind of a Gramercy bar in the slope, from the night i went. Lots of polo shirts, clean cut late twentysomething professionals. Its a clean, big space that seems to go on for a while, although I didn't go all the way back, I know there's a loungy space and further on there's an outdoor yard for boozin it up. it was crowded but not overly so, and most of the people really were having a lot of fun without being obnoxious. Its one of those places where machismo is tempered with a little slope, where I don't really enjoy the crowd but its still a good time with friends.

Weird times at Loki.  I used to go here frequently a few years ago, but it's definitely morphed into something I don't like.  Last time I was there, I waited for 15 minutes for the bartender to even look my way, although it was not crowded at all.  I finally got fed up and walked out.  I hated that there was barely any seating besides the back, and the back is waitress service only, which pretty much sucked.
