1 - Whoa. The lemon icebox pie can best be described as a rich slice of lime cheesecake with the consistency and texture of sherbet. Absolutely divine.

2 - I was also pleasantly surprised with the hospitable and attentive service.

3 - I am so glad the waitress suggested the pecan waffles and fried chicken. DELICIOUS!

4 - Diners beware when ordering the steak and eggs. This dish is not recommended for the light eater. It is a hefty portion, laden with grease and will most definitely send you crying for your bed after consumption. Still worth every bite!

Whoa now.  An unexpected brunch opportunity and a serious craving for fried chicken brought me to the doorstep of Lady Lois, Queen of Pies, Fried Chicken Champion.

The lineup:

FRIED CHICKEN: so much chicken, so juicy.  I thought I was full until I was bullied into finishing it.  Works. every. time.  Still tasted fantastic.
2 EGGS over-easy: eggs are eggs.
HASH BROWNS: plenty of em, and nothin to complain about.
BISCUITS (!!!): Very crumbly and buttery inside.  Slather on some raspberry jam and you got yourself a real side dish.  Sad that I had to give some of these up to make room for the chicken...

And dessert.

PEACH COBBLER:
They ran out!  Which led me to choose...

THE LEMON ICE BOX:
Lemon: check. Ice: check. Box: ...never mind.

As everyone says, the lemon ice box pie is a guaranteed winner.  It's like having a pie but eating a snow cone that transforms back into a pie in your mouth.  Whoa.

Great wait service and some extra tilt points brings this place to 4.5 stars.

CHICKEN AND WAFFLES CLOSE BY?! HOT DAMN.

Okay okay okay so I thought I could beastmode some fried chicken, eggs, grits, and biscuits easily, but I was wrong. Really wrong. These portions... are something else.

+++ The Chicken

The fried chicken is excellent. You can specify if you want thighs/wings/breasts/what not, but JUST BE CAREFUL these chicken pieces are huge. Crispy outside and juicy insides. So. Good.

+++ The Waffle

Okay they are not going to make Belgian style waffles here so expect more of a Lego-My-Eggo flat waffle. The chicken to waffle ratio is definitely skewed, but I wouldn't complain too much because it still tastes good.

+++ BISCUITS!!!

Really really good biscuits. They are buttered on the inside already and once you add the jam they have at the table....incredible. Next time I'd be satisfied with a plate of fried chicken and biscuits hands down.

+++ Grits

Notably better than what I expected. I hadn't really had grits in a real way before (see Crossroads dorm food ugh). Try it out! It might be to your liking.

+++ Lemon Ice Box Pie

Best way to describe this is that it tastes like a really good lemon cheesecake. A cold one. A really cold one. WHATEVER IT TASTED GREAT.

+++ Conclusion

Go here for your southern food needs of chicken and waffles for breakfast. I'll see you there in the mornings!

Pie? Oh, yes please! The Lemon Ice Box is so good! Especially on a hot summer day. Mmm.

This is such a great spot. Perfect for nursing a hangover with good and greasy, rib-sticking protein and carbs. The biscuits are so good! And the pork chops? Oh man. I waddle out of there every time. The staff are really nice and it's fun to look at the wall with all the pictures of celebrities. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal or bad service there now that I think about it and I've been going for about fourteen years. That's a pretty damn good track record! It would be nice if they had a little more space in there, but I guess their size is part of the charm. And they have a lot of that.

If you're real hungry, go for the Reggie Jackson breakfast special. Reggie! Reggie! Reggie!

My bf and I have always wanted to try this place out and we finally had an opportunity yesterday since LTPQ is open till 4 on Sunday's.

We ordered chix/waffles, biscuits, grits, eggs, and a slice of pie. The chix and waffles were great but I like the waffles at Merritt a little better. The grits were TASTY and the pie literally blew my mind. It's almost like a very tart lemon-y pudding, cheesecake, pie combination. Try it, you'll like it.

The best thing about this place is that it's family owned and the service was PHENOMENAL. I always say that a nice server makes my day and our server yesterday was a sweetheart :) There was an older gentleman who I presume is the owner and he was really nice too. Even the bussers were great and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

I was in search for a diner breakfast experience with a touch of soul and I got it!

The decor is really casual with lots of pictures of celebrities and locals.  We sat at the counter and everyone there was really friendly.

We ordered the chicken and waffles, grits, sweet tea, grapefruit juice, and the lemon ice box.

Chicken-looked overly fried, but it didn't taste burnt at all.  The skin was nice and crunchy and the meat was still moist.

Waffle-I slathered it with butter and soaked it with syrup :)  it was good, but not the best waffle I've ever had.  but it did balance well with the chicken because it wasn't too thick.

grits-needed bits of smoked bacon LOL I think I was craving that because I saw the chef make a large batch of bacon in the kitchen.

Sweet tea-good and not too fragrant.

Grapefruit juice-good

Lemon Ice box-didn't know what to expect, but it was awesome!  It's like a combination of a lemon meringue and a lemon creamsicle topped with whipped cream.  It was just enough tart and sweetness to make me smile and continue eating (even though I was stuffed).

service-very friendly.  It's like a place where you can become a regular where they'll treat you like family.  I definitely love the vibe.

Delicious food, great portions, friendly service, reasonable prices... how much better does it get?  This place is definitely an Oakland/Berkeley/East Bay institution - the wall of famous photos easily reflects that.

I had thought the food would be greasy based on some reviews I read but that is NOT the case!  I got the scramble with chives and ham - YUM! - and hubs got the mexican scramble.  My scramble had lots of large, juicy pieces of ham in it.  I also got the potatoes - done the right way - and biscuits - so fluffy and lovely.

Food came quickly and piping hot.  We sat at the counter to watch all the action.  The two sisters, daughters of the owner, were sweet and fast with all the food orders.

We'll be back soon!

Don't even try to say no to the coffee refill because you are getting one whether you like it or not.  An unpretentious place with good food, good service and plenty of hilarious pictures on the wall to play "name that celebrity" with,  while you wait for your food.

Don't make the same mistake i did -- go with a friend, split breakfast, and save room for pie!

This place is good. Don't get  me wrong. It'd be a 4 star if the price of the pie wasn't so darn expensive and the waffles were better.

Ordered the chicken and waffles, a biscuit, pancakes, and 2 slices of pie.

The pancakes were delicious. They were thick, fluffy, and the perfect golden shade.

The chicken came out still sizzling. The breading of the chicken has the right spices and the perfect amount of grease to eat with a waffle. The waffle however, was a tad bit disappointing. It was thinner than the pancake and rather bland.

This biscuit was really disappointing. I love my biscuits, and part of the reason I came was because of the delicious looking photos here on Yelp. My biscuit looked nothing like those. My biscuit was dense and mushy and nearly brown in color. I'm guessing it was just overcooked.

The service was okay. It could've been better, but one lone waitress was stuck manning the entire place. So it took us awhile to get an order in and we weren't even asked if we wanted dessert.

So we sent the bill back with an order of a mixed berry and apple pie to go.

Those two small itty bitty slices tacked on an extra $11 to our bill. What?

The pie was delicious. The apples still had crisp, and the top crust of the apple pie is one of the best crusts I've had.
The mixed berry was very tart, but the crust was lacking a little something.

Give the place a try. We will be soon to try out their other breakfasts.

Just be sure to bring CASH. The place does not take credit card.

Wow. Really yummy. I will definitely say not for the faint of heart with regard to grease. The food definitely has some serious grease factor -but in that yummy I'm enjoying every artery clogging ounce of it way!! The staff are soooo nice. Really really nice. And not in that fake way. But like you want to be friendly back. Like the other yelpers have said - in a motherly way. It's in a kinda odd location - middle of a residential-like area.

I wish I had tried the pie. But I barely could finish the breakfast. In fact I didn't. I took my leftovers home. It was so much food.

I hang my head in shame as I write.

I actually ordered biscuits, eggs, grits, and 2 pork chops for breakfast!! The Reggie Jackson special. Note, that if Reggie Jackson did actually eat this much food, he was able to burn off the calories by running bases!! I however, went home and went to sleep!!

This is a very friendly , neighborhood hole in the wall restaurant. The breakfast was good and the coffee was decent, but I'm very interested in coming back to sample the ice-box pie.

Amuse yourself by looking at the photos of Lois and the celebrities who have dined in the restaurant.

SO happy to walk in and not find some trendy, hipster diner loaded with skinny jeans and hemp.

The employees are some of the nicest and most attentive I've seen in a while. It's going to be hard to not expect this kindness every time, so I hope it's a regular thing for these folks.

The french toast, eggs and ham, and coffee were awesome. My coffee cup was never empty- not even half empty for very long. I was pretty wired and high by the time I left, which may have added to the euphoric effect of this place. My favorite hands down: the biscuits. Hot diggity damn! I even liked the grits, being it was my first time trying some, (yes, it's shameful since I'm from the south..).

I only have three regrets, and it's not this awesomely-named diner's fault.
They are:
- Being too stuffed to order pie. It looked AMAZING.
- Not getting the dish that a gal had a few seats down; the huge pork chop plate.
- Being a lame-wad and taking this long to try this fantastic little gem.

Biscuits are still outta this world -- buttery, flakey and amazing with the jam.  Grits are awesome too -- not try or too stiff, the perfect consistency!  Chicken came out hot and crispy, but it was a bit bland.  I still gobbled it up.  Our sweet server heated up my sweet potato pie with a dollop of whipped cream.

All in all, it's a yummy place for breakfast.  Service is fast, incredible, impeccable.  The owner stood at the table and waited for me to remove my helmet, so he could put in the chair for me.  Talk about hospitable!

Still an East Bay fave!

They could rename this place "Gritmasters", because they know how to make 'em.  Yum!

What's good here: um...everything?  Everyone raves about the biscuits for very good reason.  They're fresh, fluffy and buttery.  Can't ask much more of a biscuit.  Portions were good, prices were average.  And the service was fast and friendly.

I usually have: scrambled eggs with diced ham, with grits.  Really, really good.

*Note:  don't eat here if you have someplace to be shortly afterwards, or need to focus.  This food will put you to sleep!  I speak from experience!

Someday, this establishment will be honored with the landmark status is deserves. The food is amazing (Frankly, I think the meals are even better than the pies.), the ambiance is cozy, prices reasonable, and the service:

The service is warm, efficient, and - this is key - genuinely motherly. When I ordered the Chicken & Waffles*, my waitress seemed truly pleased that I had done so. After bringing me my food, she lingered for a moment to insist that I try a special syrup that really brings out the flavor of the combined foods. Of course I said "Of course!", and I'm glad I did. This instinct to make your meal with them as good as possible - even if it requires the staff to take initiative - is what makes Lois the Pie Queen more than just a great diner. It makes it a second home if you're open to their taking care of you for the hour you're with them.

Specifics? The Mexican Scramble, Grits, and Sweet Potato Pie are especially delightful. Also, their hash-browns are made with care - not as "just a sidedish". Highly recommended.

* I no longer eat meat, and writing this review made me miss it. Tear, tear.

In sum: great food + great dessert + friendly, attentive service +  no wait on a weekend = AWESOME LUNCH PLACE!  We met some friends here for lunch and we were NOT disappointed!  Delicious food - the fried chicken, biscuits and pecan waffles were especially amazing.  We made sure to save room for dessert (based on yelp reviews) and shared a slice of the lemon ice box pie which was HEAVEN.  It's the perfect blend of lemony tartness + cold + almost ice-creamy texture...if only we didn't live so far away I would definitely order an entire pie to serve at Thanksgiving.  We also tried the sweet potato pie - also good but more ordinary.  We did take a pecan pie home and served it to friends that night to RAVE reviews.  We've already been telling everyone to check out this place.  Even though we live in the south bay, I would definitely make the 45-60 minute drive up the horrendous 880 just for Lois the Pie Queen!

The store is not much of a looker on the outside, but baby it's filled with soul on the inside.

Service: A+. They were ATTENTIVE! coffee & waters were constantly re-filled. Our waitress was sweet, and i loved that she took the orders of the ladies first.

Hot-cakes: The size of my face. Good consistency. Flavorful even without syrup.

Hashbrowns: I LOVE my hashbrowns to stay cohesive when i take a bite from it with a fork. I also loved that it was crispy brown on the outside (not burnt) and lightly golden on the inside. No salt or pepper required.

Biscuits: I was really looking forward to eating it, but I got much too stuffed. The half that I ate was good, however it felt a little too dry for my liking.

Lemon Ice Box Pie: You'll eat, You'll love, You won't forget to get it again (a warning to those who aren't into sour, it's got a bit of a tang.. yeah it's lemon, duh.)

Portions are large! So don't get too greedy when you order (anyone else have that problem?)

I usually get the chicken and waffles here. I think they might be my favorite in the area.

Never actually had the pie. I've only come here for breakfast and pie just doesn't sound appealing to me after a big plate of chicken and waffes. I hear go things about the icebox pie though.

The things I really like about this place are:

A. the amazing collection of celebrity/ photos
B. very strange "native american" artwork on the walls.
C. Grits, pretty much dead on perfect.

Southern Fried Chicken with eggs/hash/biscuits is what I had....my gf got the waffle and chickens.  On a thursday morning, the place was nice and calm, quiet for brunch.  Sat at the bar and looked at all the pictures on the wall, including Anita Baker (one of our favorite singers) and actually heard "Sweet Love" as we finished our Lemon Ice Box slice (HAVE TO TRY).  Yeah, overall, pretty fantastic for the 1st time.  No wait, service was great, refills on coffee was timely...and the staff was very friendly.  Highly recommend this place for brunch on the weekday.  FYI: We were told Sundays, after church, gets pretty hectic.
Don't just come here for regular eggs and sausage.  You'll ruin the experience of this neighborhood diner.

Came here on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  I was enticed to come due to the yelp ratings.

This place is really legit.  Quick service.  Got my water and menu as soon as I sat down.  Awesome french toast, hash browns, and turkey-chicken sausage.  Definitely get the fluffy biscuits.  Then try it with either the gravy or strawberry jam at the table.

Got a slice of the lemon icebox to go.  I hope it's nice.

I went here for the first time with a friend today, and the food was DELICIOUS! We were both ravenous after a heavy night of drinking, and our cravings lured us to Lois the Pie Queen. It was the best morning-after meal ever.

I had the Beef Sausage Lois's Special, and he had the Southern Fried Chicken. Our scrambled eggs were cooked expertly, and we greedily shoved the grits into our mouths. The biscuits were everything I seek in a biscuit: light, buttery, and crispy.

The service was excellent! Our waitress was friendly and patient, and as was the rest of the staff. Will definitely be coming back soon. :)

P.S. I thoroughly enjoyed scanning the wall of famous people during my meal; to my delight, I spotted Cal alumni and now NBA player Leon Powe!

Reggie Jackson career stats:

*  .262 batting average
*  563 home runs
*  1,702 RBI
*  14 time All-Star
*  5 time World Series winner
*  2 time World Series MVP
*  AL MVP in 1973

That all sounds well and good, but after a trip to Lois The Pie Queen I can tell you the real reason that Reggie "Mr. October" Jackson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993 on his first ballot...

*  2 huge, delicious pork chops
*  2 Eggs any style
*  2 biscuits
*  Your choice of grits or potatoes

It's a thing of beauty.  I can't say that I was ever a big Reggie Jackson fan, but suddenly he's become one of my favorite players of all time.

The best Icebox pie I have ever had, hands down! It was so rich and creamy and just simply delish.  We went there for breakfast and I had the pancakes. They were thin, but really good. I love their batter.  My boyfriend order biscuits and gravy. Usually the gravy is white, but this gravy was brown. He was skeptical at first but it was love at first bite! He says it was the best gravy he has ever had with biscuits. If you decide to eat here, make sure you get a piece of the Icebox pie....you won't be disappointed.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me sometimes - how did it take me so long to finally try Lois the Pie Queen? This has always been an East Bay fave, I'm obsessed with breakfast, and yet I only just went here for the first time this month.

Before I get to the food, let me just say that the wall of celebrity photos with the owners is pretty awesome. There's a great old school fading Reggie Jackson photo, and dozens of pictures with celebs like Danny Glover, Alfre Woodard, Delroy Lindo, and Huey Lewis. So, dude, any place with a picture of Huey Lewis on the wall gets an automatic high rating from me - that's the power of love.

A+ on the buttery biscuits, the grits are pretty darn decent, the coffee's good and strong, the ham scramble was salty and delicious. I'm coming back for more, that's for sure - I haven't even tried the pie yet. I want a new drug, and the drug is called Lois.

Southern comfort food?  I've taken several tries with that one, all to no avail.  But my friend was visiting from so cal and had a random craving for pies, so we decided to go here.  Parking was chill, we got in and were seated right away.  We were lucky though-the place was packed and after us there were some people waiting, too.

Interesting, unique place.  I like places where the walls are colored and done up.  It's a bit small though (not like NY small, but yeah).  So the service was GREAT-the lady was super nice and it's like she already knew me-like me wanting some extra crispy hash browns.  Haha.  But I got the Mexican Scramble and it was awesome.  Plus, I never had such great English muffins.  They were hella crispy and fresh...mm.  My other friends got the buttered up biscuits and grits (which I thought were 'eh but he likes them).  Afterwards, we ordered the famous lemon pie.  I think one of the server's forgot we ordered it, so when we asked again the lady just hooked it up for us.  Good times.

It is a bit pricey, but the portions are generous.  So it's a pretty good trade.  You'll definitely leave the place feeling super full~!

Just a note-my friends also had some gripes about the waffles-they were small and too expensive.  So maybe you should wait for Long Beach for the chicken & waffles deal.

The Reggie Jackson Special: two pork chops, two eggs, two bisquits, and hashbrowns.  Nothing fancy in presentation or secret herbs and spices, just quality food.  The pork chops were a good cut and very lightly seasoned.  The hash browns cooked well with a nice crisp.  Eggs were cooked exactly to my liking.  And the biscuits were quite lovely: fluffy and buttery.

The best part about breakfast here: a slice of pie for desert!  The LEMON ICEBOX PIE is delicious!  I would describe it like a smooth, soft-frozen, lemon cheesecake.  Ooooh and that crust!  They say it's their most popular pie and I'm convinced.  The balanced attack of sweetness and tartness combined with a crumbly, crunchy pie crust and topped with whip cream made for a superb ending to a great meal.

Add to that a very friendly and welcoming staff, and you got yourself a fan, Lois.  I'll definitely be back.

YUM.  In a difficult neighborhood to navigate, but finding it is completely worth it.

Went here with Claire C. at her strong recommendation and as a post graduation, last days in Berkeley catch up.

I had the Southern fried chicken with an overeasy egg, biscuits, and GRITS.  The boy and I had just gone to Home of Chicken and Waffles the previous week or so, where I was first introduced to grifts.  He loves them, Claire C. loves them, and I, too, now love them.  I argued to the boy that he doesn't love grits, he loves butter, but since I fished out some of the butter that came with Lois' grits and they were still yummy, I'm convinced that my love is pure.

The chicken tasted fresh and hearty.  Coffee was strong and not watery as Claire C. said that it typically was.  Service was attentive despite the almost all occupied tables when we arrived.  We got a cozy two-seater near the window and had our coffees refilled in a timely manner, but we never felt rushed, even though we stayed for almost two hours.  It's the Southern way, you know.

Would love to go back and try the pork chops that everyone else is raving about, but then again, I could see myself going back and just ordering the same thing over and over again.  Come on, fluffy biscuits, succulent chicken, and heavenly grits.

Long live Lois.  She will always be my queen.

We picked up the lemon ice pie and sweet potato pie, want to come back for breaky.  Lemon was excellent.  The breakfast portions looked huge.  Parking is a challenging with the street cleaning, no parking signs.

I've eaten breakfast here twice now, and I gotta say, the food is great!  The biscuits are money, I mean solid gold disco biscuits, man.  Great sausage too.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the crowd is almost hostile in there.  BOTH times I've been in there, I just get stared at by the other customers.  WTF?  I don't have a third arm stickin out of my forehead mind you.  It's just an openly rude customer base.  The waiting staff is great though, so I guess I shouldn't ding the restaurant itself but damn.

The art on the walls should provide you with a bit of a laugh, creepy and mildly pornographic native american prints..  I don't know if they are still up or not..

Parking is a bit cramped but available across the street.

In closing, you won't see me eat at Lois the pie queen again, but I assure you, the food is almost worth the uncomfortable feeling you'll get.  Almost.

Okay kids.  Everyone's talking about the lemon icebox pie (which is phenominal), and the biscuits (which really are amazing).  But there's one thing that's going to bring me back here more than anything else.

These people cook grits RIGHT.

They're slow-cooked: not gloppy or sticky like you find elsewhere when they use the instant kind.  The consistency is like silk.  And the pat of butter on top lends itself to either savory (mixing with your over-easy egg yolks) or sweet (adding some of the homemade jam from the crock on the table) applications.

Also, the coffee was just what I wanted and was refilled each time at half-full, eggs were cooked just right for our whole table of four (to the person who said they were runny, all you've gotta do is specify that you clearly know nothing about good eggs and as a result want them cooked within an inch of their lives [side note: people who like hard-cooked eggs are right up there with people who want well-done steak in my book], and they'll do it), hashbrowns were super-crispy but not burned, biscuits were light and flaky, and our waitress--Lois's granddaughter--was a PEACH.

I'm going back.  Today!

I always do research before my travels and sometimes I am disappointed with that decision, because I can't check out the hotels restaurants or another place that I pass, which looks appetizing.

This was certainly not one of those disappointments. Lois has been in business for over 50 years and that says a lot.

Hey ya all, this is strictly southern down home cooking! You want to slap some grits on those eggs, you've got it. Homemade biscuits and gravy? Chicken and waffles or pork chops for breakfast? Salmon Croquettes, no problem.

The walls are decorated with pictures of famous and want to be famous folks. The large counter is always full of patrons, as well as the tables.

Lois passed away some time ago and her son has taken over the business. She, they are also famous for their pies.

Reggie Jackson dined here almost daily after his workouts. He would even help pour coffee and ring up peoples checks. By the way, it was cash only. He became so familiar, they named his breakfast choice after him. The Reggie Jackson consists of two pork chops, eggs and grits with biscuits.

Oh damn! I forgot to save room for the pie. Well, Mama was with me, she wouldn't have let me have it for breakfast anyway.

Support your local community and go and have a piece of pie.

I would have given it the 5th star but it was a little too dark in there for me! lol!

I loved the fact that I could see the kitchen and that they cooked everything fresh, except my corned beef, lol! But I love the canned corned beef just as much as the fresh stuff!

Everything was so yummy and I loved the pictures on all the walls as well!!

I'm torn-this place is between 3-4 stars. Definitely a 4 for ambiance but the food is average and overpriced for the quality.

I loved the staff, the photos, building, the artwork was a bit weird but fun as well, but most of all the crowd was great-not uptight. The biscuits are by far the take home favorite out of the eggs, spinach and Swiss special, the chicken and waffle and the hash browns.

I would 100% buy the biscuits again. Huge servings-didn't make it to the pies this time (yeah, it was such a little gem as far as dining experience that I'd go back even though I didn't really enjoy the food).

Hubby, baby, and I came late Father's Day Afternoon and there were plenty of tables.

Hubby ordered the omelette with hash browns and biscuits.  He liked most the biscuits.

I had the fried chicken eggs over medium, grits, and biscuits.... yummm....  the chicken were all little thighs and you get 3 pieces which filled up the plates.  The grits had butter swimming in it, but oh so tasty... and the biscuits.  Did I mention they give you 2 with each order?  I could only eat one there.  But boy!  Did I enjoy the 2nd one the next day.  I just toasted it in the toaster oven..... very good.

We tried the ice box lemon pie.  It was good.  But definitely I want to go back to try the macncheese and the pork chops.

I've been here twice now, and both times service has been excellent.  The servers here are really sweet and helpful.  Breakfast food is good, and very homey; I had the salmon croquettes, and they tasted exactly like the salmon patties my grandmother used to make.  As mentioned so many times in the other reviews, the biscuits are fantastic, too!

Today I tried the Lemon Ice Box pie, and I've gotta say, it rocks!  The pies, biscuits, and service are really what take this place from 3 to 4 stars for me.

LOVE IT.  Nom nom... delicious southern cooking!

The short - Lois the Pie Queen is a hole-in-the-wall kinda restaurant with GREAT food and an amazing friendly staff.

When my bf and I first drove up, we were surprised by the shabby look of the lil restaurant.  That was soon forgotten however because as we walked in, the host was SO gracious and kind.  We picked a lil 2 person table so a bigger party could have the bigger tables but he immediately let us know that we were welcome to a bigger space if we wanted one.  How nice is that?!

Now... the food.  I was incredibly pleased with almost everything we ordered - and I'm not easy on Southern cookin' spots since it's the food I was raised with.  The best thing was the fried chicken.  It was the best southern fried chicken I can remember getting from a restaurant.  The biscuits were great as well... as were the eggs, hashbrowns, grits, and ham.  The only things not quite to my taste was the gravy was a lil too salty and the lemon pie was a lil too sweet for more than a bite or two.  I'd still share it with a couple of friends next time though.

Another surprising thing, the bathrooms were surprisingly clean for such an time-worn joint.

Again, such amazing gracious service puts them a notch above the other restaurants... especially of this type.

See ya there!

PS  Liked the old photos and Marley art on the wall but the Native American stuff didn't seem to flow.
