I am very pleased to add yet another rave review to Loic Nicolas' already impressive list below.

Although it appears Mr. Nicolas is best known for his wedding and family portrait packages, it was clear to me that his individual portraits are really stunning.  When I needed a headshot for my upcoming career change, I scheduled a shoot with Mr. Nicolas without hesitation.  And I'm so glad I did!

Before scheduling the shoot, Mr. Nicolas talked in depth with me about exactly what it was that I had in mind.  We discussed what the purpose of the headshots was, and he took plenty of time to answer all of my silly questions about makeup and hair.   Most impressively, when I had to cancel my shoot only a few days prior due to illness, he was kind and completely understanding and rescheduled my shoot without any fuss.

When it came time for the shoot Mr. Nicolas was a great help.  We sat down and talked again about what my goals for the pictures were, and he looked at some examples of headshots that I liked.  My requests were actually quite specific:  I needed some portraits to use for my applications as a ballet teacher.  He showed me examples of his own work that I might like, and thankfully steered me towards a simple but effective approach (and away from anything overly complicated and therefore unnecessarily risky).  Throughout the shoot he paused occasionally to show me how the pictures were progressing, and to ask whether I'd like to try something else/go a different direction.  I felt at ease and never out of control and surprisingly relaxed.  The result was a cd full of pictures, about one quarter of which I would feel comfortable using, even without re-touching! I couldn't believe it.

After the shoot finished we looked carefully over the pictures and Mr. Nicolas helped me sort "the stars" from the "super stars".  He then encouraged me to take the cd home, share the favorites with family and friends, and let him know at my convenience which picture I'd like to use for my headshot.  He then re-touched my final pick and in the end it came out wonderfully.  He also helped me choose the paper and layout and coordinated the printing of the headshots, right down to delivery.

Mr. Nicolas is highly professional, very friendly, and surprisingly affordable.  I suspect that had I went to just about any other photographer, I would have walked away with far fewer pictures to choose from (not a cd-full, all of which I have full rights to) and a much larger bill to pay.  I have already recommended Mr. Nicolas' services to friends and coworkers, especially those who are getting married soon.  And when that time comes in my own life, I know with certainty that I will want Mr. Nicolas to be our photographer.

I happily recommend Loic Nicolas Photography without hesitation and with absolutely no reservations.

Excellent experience with Loic.  Friendly and easy going.  He's a really nice person and did a great job taking pictures of our kids.  He was flexible with our schedule and was very good with the kids.  Having kids himself, He understood their moods and knew pics of babies took more time.  The final results were excellent and we were very happy.  He takes excellent pictures.  Prices are reasonable as well.

Hiring Loic for our wedding was one of our best decisions.  When we were searching for a photographer we were looking for two things: 1) good photographer, 2) great personality.  Loic is both these things and more.  After our wedding, I wasnt even thinking about how the pictures turned out.  I was too amazed by Loic's demeanor at our wedding.  He was calm and full of smiles - just what we needed.  When we got our pictures back we were equally impressed  His pictures were exactly what we asked him for- candid shots.  One of our guests said they saw him hiding behind a plant at one point.  Not sure if this is true, but it could definitely explain why we had such amazing pictures.  If there was a six star Id give him that too.

I had the opportunity to see Loic in action while he photographed a wedding I was in 6 months ago. He is such a delight to have by your side during such memorable moments and he does a fantastic job of not feeling intrusive during the key intimate moments of a marriage. Needed to get graduation portraits done and I'm glad I chose him.

The fact that his studio is set up in his flat made me feel more at ease when I was being photographed. He actually took the time to explain to me photography terminology and the way how lighting and shading technically work to create the pics he took of me. He also asked me what I liked and didn't like in order to take photos I would approve of.

Echoing what the others have said before me, I highly recommend the guy. He's easy to get along with and he's got a good eye.

Loic was really nice and really receptive to our opinions and needs for our traditional Chinese September wedding.
His pictures were very crisp and detailed and captured the moments we missed. I also loved Christina - his second photographer. When we shopped around, his price quot was not the cheapest. But, considering all of the things that we got, and the quality of the pictures, I think he is worth the price.

I don't recall much of what happened at my wedding.  The pieces montees was looking a lot like the leaning Tower of Pisa.  My shoes were deathly uncomfortable.  And there were vows.  But because of Loic I have been able to fill all the murky holes in my spotty memory.  

He did a lovely job of capturing the spirit of the day through images of our friends and family, the venue, and all the little details taken care of by others I never had a chance to appreciate.  My husband and I chose him because of his photojournalistic style which is fluid and fresh in perspective.  We continually receive compliments on the images from our friends, many who have a critical eye for these things.

Loic was the photographer for our backyard  wedding last October. I recommend him without reservation. Not only is he the best deal in town, he also does great work (with a photography degree, I have high standards), and is a sweet and charming personality. He has this gentle, smiling presence that felt like a warm addition to our love-fest of a day. Through the whole event, he was always there capturing the moment, yet he was discreet in a way that meant we never felt self-consciously aware of his presence. Particularly for my husband who hates to pose for photos, this meant a rare series of candids that captured the joy of the afternoon. (shots of my husband smiling? a miracle!) He shot over 2000 photos in 4 hours and provided digital files of all of them, which was important to me. He was also very accommodating of our requests (in our case to minimize any posed shots). Perhaps most importantly, I really felt I could just not pay any attention to him - he was on it, and I knew everything was taken care of. Thank you Loic!

We were pregnant with our first child with the delivery date rapidly approaching and contacted Loic, after researching numerous photographers.   He was marvelous to work with.  He was very patient with our requests, worked with the different shots we wanted to take, and also suggested shots.  Loic was a consummate professional.  

Once we have our baby we'll definitely go back to him for another session.  Something I really liked about him was that he gave us all the photos on disc, so we could get them printed where we wanted, or we could go through him.  This isn't the case with all photographers out there, and it was very important for me that a photographer provide this to us.   His prices are very reasonable and his easy going, calm manner put us at ease.  

We've since recommended him to other (pregnant) friends.  We are delighted to have these memories captured on film for ourselves and our child.  He provides a great value and we highly recommend him!

It's easy to work with adults, even demanding ones. But with babies?

I got a recommendation from another San Francisco mom to use Loic Nicolas for our family portraits, and when my son turned six months old, which was a milestone to celebrate as a family, I went to Loic for pictures of Jayden and impromptu snapshots of us trying to keep up with him.

Loic was very professional, spot-on with his eye, and more importantly, he was unflappable while working with our baby, who started out in a good mood but grew tired and therefore very cranky as the hour went on. Loic snapped all kinds of fantastic candids of our son, and the raw, untouched files looked absolutely great. I have gotten nothing but raving positive comments from family and friends about our pictures. Loic has a way of bringing out the best look from our baby, and for that, we would use his skills again before going to anyone else.

I decided to work with a seasoned photographer like Loic instead of with a discount studio such as Sears Portrait Studio or The Picture People. As a family, we discussed our options, and we compared costs. Loic's packages are quite reasonable because you get unlimited poses of your baby or children, and you do want a large pool from which to select the best poses for keepsake photographs. The discount studios lure you in with coupons and seemingly low prices but charge by the pose; you often have to read the fine print on the real costs of printing and obtaining extra prints. The Picture People doesn't even offer to put pictures on CD, as I inquired about digital storage and reprints. The only reason for that is they want you to spend more money on reprint packages instead of using an online print service such as Kodak Gallery. After using Loic, we have enough pictures to fill an entire art book chock-full of glossies of our son as gifts to family. Furthermore, some of the picture mill studios rush you in and out, and the quality varies greatly from location to location, and from photographer to photographer on duty. We made the right decision with private photography, and we couldn't have made a better choice than Loic.

I recommend Loic Nicolas without reservation and would urge anyone with babies or children to invest in his services instead of going to a discount studio, as you will get outstanding pictures of which you can be proud and which you show off to everyone. Loic's professional photos just look more engaging, more special and precious, and better capture your child's personality and different moods than a regular studio outfit. As a final note, I will add that Loic was highly communicative and always responsive in my all email correspondence with him, and he was accommodating with our busy family schedule.--JP

Loic is a talented, professional and versatile photographer.  He did two very different jobs for my company -- studio-type headshots and an indoor-outdoor fundraising event.  He made the heashot shoot easy and fun for even the most camera shy of us, and he even made us look good.
