3 reviews for Logan's Roadhouse
This place was on my list of places to visit for a while, but planning to have steak, you gotta work up an appetite. How ironic that we ended up going here on the spur of the moment.
When you enter, just past the waiting area, you'll see an open wagon full of peanuts that you can munch on while waiting. Just toss the empty shells on the floor. Off to the right, there's a bar area where you can hang out and drink. Off to the left is all the tables for restaurant seating.
The staff wear brightly colored t-shirts with various restaurant specialties or slogans emblazoned on them. The servers are friendly, the food is outstanding, and the prices are reasonable. I may have found that one rare place that has the best combination of good service, good food, and good prices.
The bread they serve as appetizers come in a variety of sizes, but are shaped and taste like sweet rolls from King's Hawaiian. That might be a west-coast restaurant/grocery item. I almost got full on bread and peanuts before my entree arrived, but I saved room for the steak. You know a steak is great when you can eat it without requiring any kind of steak sauce. This place follows that rule.
If you like the peanuts as much as my buddy did, they sell ziploc quart-sized bags full of them for you to take home.
Another funny thing they do is when it's your birthday, they take you to the middle of the dining area, get the customers' attention, and tell everyone to yell woo-hoo for the birthday person.
Logan's is an alternative to Hooter's, although it's pretty much in its own league because its steak instead of chicken wings, and the service is way faster and friendlier.
UPDATE: we went back a few weeks later, and the service is just as friendly. But I learned that if you're gonna order steak, splurge for a better cut; skip the sirloin and get at least a rib-eye. On the bright side, the fried onions with the onion brewski sirloin are thinly breaded and spiced just right.
There's nothing wrong with this place. I like it, but it's a lot like Outback or Texas Roadhouse-especially Texas Roadhouse. The servers are friendly, I think it's a southern thing, but our waitress was snappy and was willing to argue with some of my buddies who were a little, not rude, but smart-assy would be the best word. They accommodated a bunch of loud unruly guys. The steak itself was pretty good, much like Christopher's my measure of a steak is if you don't need any sauce, it was a good cut for sure but it was missing something, not sure what. Perhaps I'm biased because it's a chain but after eating a Chris' I can't give this place a higher rating.
I love the food at Logans. There have been only one occassion where I had bad service but for the majority of the time I have great service. My kids love to eat there.
