Log Haven is one of those restaurants that should be reserved for special occasions when you have the time, inclination, and funds to dedicate an entire evening to romance and fine dining.  You should be in the mood to get dressed up, take a leisurely drive up the canyon, eat several courses of high quality cuisine, drink plenty of good wine, and have scintillating conversation with someone special.
Personally, I would not go to Log Haven unless it was with a beautiful woman I was trying to seduce.  I just don't see the point in going with family or friends.  Log Haven is just too damn romantic to waste it's soothing atmosphere and rapturous victuals on your mother.
Advice to the guys; dress well, OK?  Get some nice shoes.  Chicks pay attention to shoes.  And don't look at the bill. Just whip out the gold card like it's no big deal.   In conversation, stay focused on her.  Listen.  Be confident, but always treat her like a lady.  Log Haven will do the rest.

Came here for a business dinner with 12 people.  The service was excellent, even for such a large group, we had very attentive servers.

It would be an excellent place to take a date, too -- they had lots of intimate tables for two.

Entrees were good -- all of them seemed to have very high quality ingredients, and were expertly prepared.  My own entree was OK, not great, but everyone else seemed to be happy with their food.

For the two vegetarians at the table, the chef whipped up some special risotto based on their likes/dislikes.  The vegetarians were really psyched about their meal.

The desserts were very good as well, although they all seemed to be born of the philosophy "more is more" -- very rich and decadent, not at all subtle or delicate.

I'm not giving this place 5 stars because I really didn't feel like the food was that inventive or original.  Everyone seemed happy with their food, but nobody raved about their meal.  Overall the food seemed great but not excellent... maybe I'm being too harsh.

My wife and I had a very good dinner here.  We sat outside on the patio.  It was perfect mountain evening weather with a great little water feature adding to the ambiance.  The inside dining is cozy and rustic but just a bit stuffy for my taste.
Appetizers .... Crab cake moist and flavorful and Grilled Calamari excellent.
Bison Rib eye was good w. pomme frites and brussel sprouts glazed w. bacon very good.
Fresh cliantro Pappardelle (homemade pasta dish) w. poblano chiles was very good
The service was attentive.
The wine list was good but a bit over priced.
Log Haven is not a cheap place but overall I felt the quality of the food and the atmosphere made it a good value.

The food is good, but maybe a little boring and certainly not the draw. Come here for passable cuisine and a nice atmosphere.

I'm surprised this place only has one review! Attentive servers, delicious food, and a beautiful, rustic ambience. Housed in a lodge tucked high in the mountains, the restaurant offers gorgeous views of creeks and snow-capped peaks.

The portions were perfectly sized- not too large. I know this place is known for its meat dishes, but I am vegetarian and the servers tailored a main great main course for me (spaghetti squash, mashed potatoes, and various veggies). They even had a vegetarian version of a meat appetizer made for me without my asking for it.

The baked hot chocolate dessert was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had. The only con: limited parking spots = valet parking necessary = long wait in the cold to get your car at the end of the evening.

This place was absolutely amazing! The views on the drive up to this place were gorgeous and the waterfall was beautiful. We arrived for dinner as the sun was setting and the waterfall surrounded by snow was breathtaking. The restaurant was warm and cozy and very private. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant with a great view of the waterfall.

The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. One of the most romantic nights of my life.

Short ride up Mill Creek Canyon brings you to a large rustic log cabin.  I found the food to be imaginative and the service to be excellent.  Wine list was good and had some good choices in the $30 range.  Apps were very large and plenty for 2 to share.  Too full to try deserts but they sounded good!  Typical evening offers 5 to 8 entree choices, the game offerings were truly excellent.  Expensive but a very enjoyable evening.

This place is amazing.  It's basically a large cabin structure nestled in the mountains on the way to the popular ski spots outside of Salt Lake City.  Log Haven is a spectacular setting for a late winter/early spring (or any time for that matter) dinner after a days worth of skiing.  The food is outstanding, and Frank Mendoza the executive chef has a wonderful menu that includes an ample amount of wild game (boar, buffalo, caribou, etc.).  There are daily specials and the deserts are first rate.  The wine list is also impressive.  Everything I have ever eaten here is delicious.  Make sure you arrive a little early to sit by the impressive fireplace while your table is being prepared.  All the chill from the day's activities will melt away.  Also before you leave, go outside to the patio and see the waterfall coming down the side of a mountain.  If you're ever in the Salt Lake City area make sure to include this restaurant if at all possible.  It can be pricey but the food and the overall experience is definitely worth every penny.
