This was a great location and we enjoyed our stay. Please note that this review comes from someone that doesn't travel much anymore and is on a meager budget. So don't flame me .

The city of Coronado is an isolated spot about 15 mins outside of San Diego. We had no car but did take advantage of the bus which was great out there. So it's all hotels and resorts. Loews is very isolated with no options for meals other than what the hotel has to offer and the shuttle to Downtown Coronado. Again this is coming from a visitor that didn't rent a car. So in being more than a few miles out - eating can get pricey. They do hold out 75 dollars a day from your credit card/debit. Not charged but held - which means whatever that amount may be due to your length of stay, will not be available for your use. Of course most guests there probably don't have budgets like we did.

It is great for a lazy stay - no major partying and great for low energy relaxing times Which we wanted.

I felt the menu was a little limited but the Sunday Brunch was great! 26 bucks and so many options. Great mimosa's and fresh pomegranate juice - included in the price. Runs until 2pm so it has stuff from an omelet station to a crepe station to salads and ham and fish. Just loads of options. It was awesome.

The beach was so close and beautiful. The hotel even offers golf cart trips over with chairs in tow. Great views at the hotel and the staff was helpful.

But to cut to the CONS
Costly items like 3 dollar sodas and no late night options for snacks or meals at a affordable prices left a bad taste in our mouth. It was as if they wanted to leave you with no options but to grab a pricey mini bar snack that was fully stocked in each room. They did have a market in the lobby but they close at 10. We were able to resist mini bar temptation.

The waitstaff was just so so. I felt like they could have been more attentive in most cases when eating in the Market cafe. Plus the menu items there were limited. The bar staff seemed forgetful, on more than one sitting the server forgot part of the order.

The shuttle stopped at 6 but hey the city closes down early.

The basic rooms seemed small too. Cool bathrooms but shower leaked from the door.

This is still a great quiet location where you can relax. The pools and hot tubs are very nice. Front desk is attentive when calling down too.

But this resort may not be for the frugal non driver to say the least.

They play to a older set as well as families. Lots of pets too - that was cool.

But I just wanted to give a glimpse from the side of someone who wanted a nice relaxing trip and happened upon the deal on Expedia. I realize folks who stay in resorts all the time - this may seem like nit picking but its good to know what the normal consumer thinks. This was by far the nicest place I've been in. Before that it was probably a DoubleTree. So just my 2 cents.

I had the pleasure of commuting to Loews for a few days this past January for a 3-day meeting.  I didn't experience much of the resort aspect of Loews but can certainly vouch that Loews is a really impressive, amazingly beautiful place to hold a variety of events.

The views from the dining, meeting, and communal areas are ridiculously picturesque whether you're looking at the ocean, docks, or grounds.  It's such a beautifully laid-out establishment that takes full advantage of the scenery.

The services provided during the meetings were excellent as well.  Very efficient and professional.

My Loews adventure was basically a perfect work meeting scenario, and I'll definitely be excited at any chance to return!  I'm removing 1 star simply because I've never overnighted at Loews; 5 stars wouldn't be a fair rating at this point.

It does take a long time to walk from tower 4 to the main lobby, but this place is worth staying at.

You get a great view of the bay from the room we were in and their poolside servers are awesome - ask for Diana, she is nice and speaks Spanish if you want to practice (but pretty much everyone there does).

They do have terrible room service as they forgot water 3 times, our toast, and usually, you don't have to ask for anything that usually comes with a meal or something you normally expect with a meal.

Their food in the hotel is just ok.  I'd recommend you leave Coronado for good food.  Best food is certainly in Gas Lamp or Banker's Hill.

I'd stay here because its just a nice place to get away to.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Awesome view of the ocean from our hotel room. This is a nice place to stay and to just pack up and get away from your everyday life.
Just about 20minutes away from San Diego one thing I must warn you is that you must go over a HUGE bridge to get to Coronado.

This hotel is across the street from the beach which is a plus. I love staying at this place, salt water pool, full service at the pool area, you never have to get out of the pool.

Great for couples, family and groups to come out and check out the beautiful view at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. The have movie night for the kids by the pool during the evening with free popcorn!

They have a spa, places for you to rent boat and skis, the only thing creeped me out was looking at the ocean at night. *wonders what is looking @ me and will drag me down under*

The people there are awesome, nice and helpful.

The room is very a gorgeous with the modern look. Room service is the best at this place, quick and friendly service.

Anybody wanting to get away and just let loose I would recommend this place!

We had a lovely time. We were treated like kings and queens, had a partial view room that was still absolutely lovely, and had an extremely pleasant time. The room was clean, the food was good, the service was superb. We will happily be staying again next year.

I am appalled by some of the reviews I've seen for this resort. Some of you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. Complaining about the price of parking, the walk to the beach, and the distance from downtown.

How dare you? Are you inept?

Are you not capable of going to the website and - before booking your vacation - checking to see if they offer pricing and, if so, what it costs? Are you not able to go to Google and look at the distance between the resort and downtown before booking a resort that isn't located at all central to where you want to be? Can you not call and ask them (or even look at a map or read the website) about their proximity to the beach? No? You just assume it's on-top of the beach because that's where you want to stay? That's foolish.

You have some nerve holding your poor planning against such a lovely resort. Anyone who isn't able to look online or call the resort to ask them such basic questions should be embarrassed at their own poor planning and inability to be accountable for their own vacation planning.

I found a great deal at Loews Coronado Bay Resort from TravelZoo.  Loews Coronado Bay Resort is a 5 stars luxury hotel.  The regular price for a Luxury King room is $350, but we got the room for $99/night!

We stayed at room 3307, a King Luxury room.  With our special $99/night rate, our room was supposed to be courtyard view.  But the nice front desk girl upgraded us to a partial oceanview room.  Nice!  We spent a lot of time on this balcony during our 3 days stay here.

Cute little sitting area, but we never used the chair.  Ice bucket, glasses, and bottle opener provided.  They also provided a bottle of water for ONLY $6.50/bottle.  That's some expensive water!

We LOVE the king size pillow-top bed.  It was so soft and comfortable.  TV with built-in DVD player.  I used the coffee/tea machine to make coffee and green tea every morning.

Robes, iron and iron board in the closet.

Really spacious and beautiful bathroom. Big bathtub.  Too bad we didn't get to use it at all.  Separate shower area.

We love this hotel and love our room.  It was super comfy.  In the morning, we stayed on our balcony to drink coffee/tea and read newspaper (provided free by the hotel).  At night, we sipped champagne/wine and just chatted all night in the ocean breeze.  It was so relaxing.

I really like Loews Coronado Bay Resort.  If they ever have a big sale again, I'll definitely plan another San Diego trip!  For all of you travelers, I highly recommend the website TravelZoo.  You can find some really great deals there.

P.S. Parking is $22/night.

Total disappointment. It's apparent that this used to be a pretty cool place at one time. But now it's terrible. The lobby is nice but walking to the rooms reminded me of an old casino in Reno. Dirty Carpets, long corridors etc.

The room was run down (minus) but fairly clean (plus).

We decided to order room service and our 4 year olds fruit plate had maggots in it (major minus!). In the morning I went for a run and wanted to check out the pool. They had poolside breakfast which sounded nice until you saw the birds eating the muffins from the serving tables (major minus!).

Does the health department know about this place? We checked out the following day and returned to the Four Seasons Aviara. Now there is a hotel!

Not recommended unless you are a budget traveler and don't mind negatives...

So I was here a few weeks ago with some friends for a weekend getaway.  I won't go into too much detail but here is the royal breakdown.  They say all is well that ends well.  Not all the time.  Seriously.

Brace yourself and let it ring true that the "buyer beware":

The person in our party that made our reservations 2 months ago was told the day of that the hotel was overbooked so we were then shifted to another hotel.

Then as we get to the Coronado Bay Resort they take eons to have the room ready but the service was not what I expected for what is deemed as a fancy resort.  It took two people to call housekeeping for us to get the extra roll away bed removed.

Granted the hotel did try to accommodate our needs but it had to take a lot of grievances for that to happen.

I have stayed at many other resorts and the service was always impeccable.  Scratch that, I have stayed at many other hotels and I have had better service than this place.

The biggest question that looms in my mind is how the hotel was overbooked when reservations were made so long ago?

My advise is please make sure and confirm so that your party is not inconvenienced either.  The only reason that this place received 3 stars is because they did make an attempt to make our situation better.  Otherwise, it would have been 1 star like John C's review.  It is clearly apparent that they are remodeling and do not have enough staff on deck to handle the number of guests at the hotel.

Note: This review is based on a mere five hours that I spent in their dance/ball rooms. :}

My senior prom was here and I must say, wow. What a nice resort. I was already amazed by the elevator, with it's nice carpet and mirror walls. While walking to the specific area where my prom was being held at, I couldn't help but gaze at the atmosphere. It was great. The large mirrors reveal an amazing view of the Coronado Bridge and Downtown.

If I were new to San Diego and I needed a great place to stay, I would definitely consider this place.

We spent this past Memorial Day Weekend at the Loews Coronado for my boyfriend's birthday and our stay was fantastic!  I had activities/dinners planned for the weekend as a surprise and wanted a cake delivered to the room while we were out.  The concierge, Erica had helped me order a 6" cake and it was delivered at the time I requested and it looked great!  AND it tasted even better! (Mint Cookies n' Creme)  The staff as a whole were very welcoming and friendly: Valet, Bell-hop, Front Desk, Room Service, everyone.  Our check-in was quick and the gentleman that helped us (FORGOT HIS NAME, started with a J)  gave us complimentary drinks, apps, and a dessert when he found out we were there for my boyfriend's birthday.

The room amenities are fantastic: flat screen tv, pillow top bed, internet, mini bar.  Bathroom fixtures and accessories were contemporary too.  (LATHER toiletries).

The property itself is secluded and located on a peninsula of Coronado Island.  I scheduled a Gondola ride since the company was located on the property as well.  Downtown Coronado was only 10 minutes away.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway.

Very pleased with this hotel.  My parents and Irish Setter stayed in one room, while my girlfriend, Chocolate Lab, and Weimaraner stayed in the other.  The hotel is well maintained and staff was very friendly.  Our "dog-friendly" rooms were large and provided a full ocean view.  Also, the restaurant/grill was delicious and very dog friendly as well.  Loew's provided a luxurious ambiance, while still being dog-friendly.  My only complaint would be that the hotel is around 10 mins away from Coronado's downtown areas and large beaches.  This was the only bummer.

I stayed here for one night in September 2008 and it was heaven.  I could have stayed a week.  I was with my hubby, mother-in-law and toddler son.  It's beautiful with amazing views, great pool and jacuzzis, good food in the restaurant, and a nice gift shop.  It's secluded enough that you feel like you are far away from home but close enough to Coronado and San Diego attractions.

It's a gem and I would definitely go back there again.

Oh Loews.  It will always hold a spot in our hearts.  We stayed there 8 yrs ago on the first night of our honeymoon, in what seemed to be the best suite in San Diego!  check for yourself: room 8102.
We again stayed there this weekend (not in that room).  It was a very nice luxury suite and it was at the perfect spot to watch the sunset.  The staff was all very attentive to us, and the concierge especially was one of a kind!  I even left my cell phone in the blankets when we left, and I ran back up to get it and Lupita had it in her pocket waiting for me.  Gracias.  The only reason they don't get full stars is because of the parking fees.  More than $20 is like Sunset Strip prices, and the spots are very hard to get into.  I agree with Mason T on that aspect.  Otherwise, we'll be returning.

"Let's just keep on driving down the strand I am SURE we will find it";....and there it is once you think you might have driven too far...you bump right into the Loews.

We had a "staycation" here and had a great time and we were able to bring our doggie too...which was really nice since we didn't have to worry to get someone to watch him.

The location is not a great place for people we travelling here and do not get a car since Orange Ave is a drive away and you are pretty much held hostage by the hotel (which isn't that bad) but can get expensive.

The service was was good and everyone is very friendly, the pools were really nice, we didn't eat there because it was pretty $$ so I can't comment on the food  (the bottle water in the room was $6.50).

This is a really nice place, it was everything I expected. They gave us early check in -- real early, our flight got in at 10:00am, we checked in by noon. They have plenty of underground secured parking and it's not a long walk from the elevator to your room. Check in was simple, the girl at the front desk was very friendly, as was the gentleman at the concierge desk. He recommended the Market Cafe (one of their restaurants) for dinner and the food and service there were outstanding. Our waiter (Martin) was very good. I had roast chicken that was really good. The service we got at this hotel was top notch.  The room was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable and it was very quiet. We had a room facing the bay and it was great.

Needed a weekend getaway from the OC for some much needed R&R.

Location - perfect.
It is isolated from the hustle and bustle that surrounds the Del. It sits right on the water so anywhere you look you can see the bay.

Amenities
- Pool area is very large and very nice (every resort should have pools like this). There is an adult only pool and jacuzzi, in case you don't like kids or there are just too many of them.  Towels are provided.
- Gym is small, but has everything you need to get a good workout. Dumbells only go up to 50 lbs, but they make up for that with a good assortment of stability training toys.
- You can rent all sorts of other stuff, waverunners, bikes, kayaks, etc. to keep you busy.
- They have a game room but I didn't have time to check it out. I was too busy doing nothing at the pool.
- Parking was good. Underground and very close to the elevator of your building.

Rooms
- Stayed in a deluxe bay view room. Beautiful view, very comfortable bed, nice decorations, good sized bathroom.
- Bath tub was huge and deep but the shower was tiny.
- The bathrooms were a little out dated and could use some renovations, but how much time do you spend in there anyway?

Market Cafe restaurant
- Had breakfast here and it was very impressive
- Corned beef hash and eggs were cooked well and really tasty.
- Banana split, which was yogurt, fresh fruit and granola was very good too.

Staff
- For the most part friendly, but they could do better.
Example: At the desk during check in I was asked the same exact question twice by the same person in less than 2 minutes.

Loews guy: Will you be parking a car here with us today?
me: I am optimus prime, leader of the autobots, I am a car...just kidding didnt really say that.
Me: Yes
Loews guy: Valet or self?
Me: Self
Loews guy types stuff in the computer, then tells me my room number and how to get there and then deja vu.
Loews guy: Will you be parking a car here with us today?
Me: Yes
Loews guy: Valet or Self
Me: Self

- Late checkout had to be requested the morning of. Isn't the reason for late check out so you can sleep in and plan your departure accordingly? This was a pain but we got it.
- Everyone else that we saw were very nice and smiley, but the people that we didn't see, those answering the phones, could be nicer.

Overall it was a relaxing little getaway. All I wanted was to relax at their pool, get a workout in and stay by the ocean and Loews got the job done.

The location is a little out of the way considering it's all the way at the end of the strand, but it's amazing! Makes for a nice little drive with your sweetie.

The parking situation can be a little questionable, the spots along the side shortly after passing through the entrance are an option, but I recommend parking in the garage for closer access to the hotel.

And the ballroom was incredible. The ceiling fixtures were immaculate and the room was massive! Perfect for prom! And the view across the bay was the best part. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a prom, a wedding, or any other major occasion.

Based on looks alone, this place is 5 stars, but when you factor in the horrible service, you get 2 stars.

I was expecting our stay at this resort to be a blissful, top-flight experience where our comfort and relaxation was Loews' top priority. I was so wrong.

Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that our 2 night stay here was something straight out of an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm or Meet The Parents, where everything that could go wrong, did. It looks like Mr. Murphy and his famous law are frequent guests at the Loews Coronado Bay. My general complaint is that there was a lot promised via the website and marketing materials that was just not delivered. For example, offering  Loews First guests a welcome package (i.e. wine, fruit, nuts, etc) and a complimentary newspaper in the morning is a nice touch. Not actually having your welcome package in the room or newspaper outside your door is a letdown. Screwing up the bill, check. No utensils when ordering food, check. Valet scratched our car, check.

Why two stars instead of one? The actual rate for the room was acceptable, and for the most part the staff was very polite, if not a bunch of bungling idiots. I guess the blame should really fall upon the General Manager of this hotel. He/she has really dropped the ball.

Cripes!  It's hard to start this review with nothing else but "this place is wonderful."  Other reviews have said it, and I can only piggyback off them with the great reviews.

We stayed here last year on the company I was working for's dime, which made it that much more magical.  The weather was less than perfect, but unfortunately they can't control that.

Our room smelled great, and the most comfortable bed ever.  Hubby and I took a nap every day on it, it was great!  Helpful staff, and if you love margaritas like I do, indulge in the giant margaritas at the restaurant.

If I ever make it back down to San Diego and have money to burn, I'll be staying here again.

I have a small Pomeranian so traveling/vacationing with her has always been challenging.  We looked around for a while and decided on Loews Coronado and had the pooch presidential package with luxury king room.

Upon checking in, the front desk agent was very friendly and accommodating. However, she had limited knowledge on the Presidential Pooch Package.  She didn't know whether the free doggie meal would be 1 per night or 1 meal for the whole stay but she assured us that they would offer the meal to us per night since they didn't know the details.

And of course, when we tried to order a meal for my dog on the 2nd night we were told by room service that since we already ordered one the night before we couldn't order a 2nd.  We told him about the conversation we had with front desk but he questioned our integrity and asked for the name of the service agent (which we didn't know).  We thought it was really rude of him to question us but my bf didn't want to make a big deal so we let it go. We ended up giving her the rest of the food she had left over from the night before, which we fridge'd. Then the nightmare begins.....

On the day we were ready to check out, my dog started to puke out all of  her "vets approved" meal. And when i asked front desk what were the ingredients in her food or if there's a menu, the same agent whom checked us in said she has no idea but assured us it's all vets approved. If it's approved, wouldn't they have some kind of menu as reference from room service?  My bf and I are pretty sure we smelled garlic in her meal but we trusted the hotel to be responsible and do their research on what ingredients are poisonous to dogs, little did we know.

Overall this whole pooch package was less than expected and we will not recommend this pooch package to other dog owners

Other cons:
We expected the hotel to be old and has history but in the room our table lights didn't work, the phone by the bed didn't work, the CD in the player didn't work, the pillows were low quality.

My husband surprised me and the boys once by booking this hotel stay. I had always wanted to stay at The Del, but they were completely booked at the time, so he took a shot with Loews. I'm so glad he did. We've been back to this hotel every single year since! What a great place to take your kids and just relax for awhile. Lots to do with kids here; ping pong, pools, rentals of all sorts, and a shuttle service that will drive you across the street to the beach. By the way, towels, beach chairs and umbrella's, are all set up at no extra charge by the hotel staff, and taken down for you, once you're ready to go back to the hotel. It's great!

It's a pretty hotel. The lobby is really nice, very clean, and there is a huge winding staircase leading upstairs to an upscale restaurant, very nice.  Upon entering the hotel, to the left of the lobby's entrance, there is a gorgeous little gift shop, bakery, and a more casual dinning type restaurant for those who are in the mood for something less chichi.  The staff, for the most part, were very professional and eager to answer any and all questions we had, not to mention they gave our children complimentary kids backpacks full of goodies for their stay. The reason I mentioned "for the most part" is because we did run into a very snotty waiter once in the more casual dinning area, and I found his attitude and behavior to be rather uncalled for, since this is an upscale hotel, charging upscale prices, you would expect better service, and for that service to come with a smile. But that said, it was only a one time thing and we've never experienced that kind of treatment from any of the staff members here at Loews since. The rooms are quite spacious, each one comes with a balcony and sliding glass door. The decor is very "beachy" in feel and comfortable, and the bathrooms are huge, clean, with big tubs and separate shower stalls -- oh, and they have great shower gels and soaps by Bloom. Nice. Very nice.

Forget Disneyland - Loews Coronado Bay is the happiest place on earth.  All I can say is AHHHHHHH....this place is wonderful.

Family friendly and pet friendly, but for those of us without kids it's not over-run by kid noise.  There were families with small children staying on either side of my room and I never overheard ANY sound from my neighbors except the occasional door slamming.

Fantastic room service.  Beautiful setting and grounds.  Soft bed and linens.  Huge bathtubs.

Amazing spa.  Keep in mind it is pricey, although neither the website nor the welcome binder provides prices with the spa menu - you have to ask ahead of time or risk sticker shock when you're signing the bill after your treatments.

Friendlier service than I've experienced anywhere else, even at the Ritz.  They must put something in the water.

I recently surprised my boyfriend with an overnight stay at Loews for his birthday. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly.
We stayed in the spacious Deluxe King and it was pretty sweet: it had a contemporary beach vibe.
The bed was super comfy.
The large flat screen TV featured a nice selection of movies, some of which were actually still playing in theaters. (Additional charge for movies, but, hey, it's still cheaper than going to the theater.)
Nice desk, it'd be useful if you're there on business.
The bathroom was simple. Surprisingly small shower though.
I was glad our balcony had an incredible view of the bay, bridge and downtown skyline. (Luckily, we stayed on the top floor so we were spared having stare out our window at the dumpster on the service road below.) Also, on the plus side, it wasn't one of those teeny-tiny balconies where two or three people can barely move around. It was really wide and you still had more than enough room even with the table and two chairs.
Jacuzzi and pool were pretty standard.
Breakfast was included in the package deal we booked and it was buffet style ... good selection for the price.
The real reason I rated Loews three stars was because of its valet service. Parking overnight costs about $30. OK, fine. I'll cough over the money. But for that price I except excellent service.
The valet on duty gave us a number to call if we'd like the car brought around in advance. No problem, right? Our phone calls to the valet desk were not answered. Alright, so I had to just walk down and ask for my car instead. No worries.
However, when my car was returned to me the next morning it was covered in bird poo. Seriously, covered. The poor valet who brought the car back just looked at me when I pointed it out (there and there and there and ...). He said nothing. My boyfriend asked for a paper towel so he could open the passenger side door. Gross.
We told the concierge, who apologized, and then wrote an e-mail to the hotel, and never heard back.
So, be sure to tell the valet not to park your car under a tree unless you want to pay an extra fee at the car wash.

With the exception of the crappiest internet service I have ever experienced in a hotel, service here was without flaw.

Everyone went out of their way to be of assistance to me in every half-requested matter I was interested in getting accomplished.

*phone rings*  "Yes, Mister Ninja?  How may we help you this evening?"

Their business center allowed me to get a couple lingering issues taken care of in quick order as it is staffed with a competent (high praise from me) professional that knew when to help and when to let me handle it.

Holding the conference I was attending here was a very good choice.  The hotel staff managed everything related in stride and without flaw.

Since the resort is isolated and there is a 24/7 staffed attendant checking cars that are coming and going, there are never sketchy people lurking around.  Only guests and related traffic.  A nice note if you're looking to be free of related hassles and hazards.

This place is more expensive than business-lackey hotels, but quite affordable and amiable when compared to upper crust retreats and baller-type-humpdens.

Good food, good service, nice rooms.  Not perfect, but a great effort in its price range and better than most that I've had for more money.

I've got a huge family and we all came here for 2 nights to attend my sis-in-law's graduation from UC Davis.  Not only are we a big family of 9 adults, we had 5 kids age 1-3.

PROS:
We had the best time here - we borrowed strollers and baby bath tubs and toys.  They gave each kid a toy for visiting and it kicked off my son (and my) obsession with Little People.  We swam in the pool (even though it was freezing out) and played in the Pottery Barn Kids sandbox and watched Chicken Little by the pool at night.  We also had milk and cookies delivered to the room.

The room was beautiful - I came back and painted our own master the same colors and everyone that comes over thinks it's gorgeous.  We were overlooking the pool and that was fun.

We had buffet breakfast at the cafe when we got there because we were too early to check in.  It was tasty and the kids all got their choice of a million types of juice.

The bathroom showers were awesome!

CONS:
- service is spotty.  I didn't get the kids toys until I asked for it and they first told me they ran out.  I asked again later that day and I guess the toys "reappeared"
- they gave me soured watermelon juice when I ordered it from the wide selection at breakfast.  thank goodness I tasted it first before giving it to my son, he was only 1 and would not have known it had gone bad!!!
- all the kids had ear infections when we got back.  not sure if it was the chilly weather or the 2 plane rides in a short time span or if it was because we filled the spa tubs and let them play in there in the bathroom.  didn't notice mildew, but wasn't looking that hard...

I AM ONLY rating on their Sunday brunch! Not the hotel overall itself. Service was fine, but I hadn't been to their brunch in quite some time. I went the other weekend, and they have changed it. It's a very standard brunch, nothing special, no seafood, etc. The hotel itself it's very pretty, but I don't recommend their brunch!

I was here for a short time visiting an out of town guest. You must pay for parking here even as a visitor (unless you have a friend who already has a parking pass you can abuse as we did.)

Rooms were very nicely decorated inside but can be a chore to get to due to the circular layout.

Lobby seemed very clean and fresh and there was plenty of underground parking.

5 * minus 1 for making guests pay for parking.

Service is spotty, but the view is the reason why we stayed here. This place is a bit nostalgic for me because this is where my husband proposed to me. We were on a little gondola ride in December of 05, and while the guy was rowing us through the Coronado marina we were listening to some Italian music, enjoying some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, wrapped in a nice warm blanket.  As soon as the view opened up to the beautiful San Diego skyline with the reflection of all the tiny dots of lights off the water, he knelt down next to me and proposed. Well executed and memorable for those who are looking for ideas.  It's an overall a-ok hotel. I've had the luxury of staying at the Ritz Carlton's, but in my opinion the best hotels are at the St.Regis.

I had low expectations for the Loews Coronado Bay.  I had seen the photos of mildew-stained bathroom grout on Trip Advisor.  When we called to see if we could check in early, the front desk assured us that "Garden View" rooms are always readily available.  So my friend and I shuddered on our way in.

Then, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our garden view room overlooked several pools (and not a parking lot as expected), the beds were heavenly, the room was large and comfy, with a nice balcony and a spacious bathroom, too.

The pool and gym were better than decent, particularly since the machines are up to date, and they give you a bottle of water when you sign in.  Best of all, you get to use the spa facilities in the locker room, which smells lovely, is super clean and has nice toiletries and a steam/sauna.  The only thing that's missing at this hotel is a nice evening wine hour by the fire place.

I do have to take one star off however, because I'm pretty sure the meal at the hotel restaurant Mistral, gave me some kind of stomach flu.  Too bad, cause they had a great Christmas cocktail and a fantastic view of the Coronado Bridge.

Still recommended though, and there seemed to be an extraordinary number of pets and children around, so must be real popular with families.

My husband is in Coronado to attend to his mother who is dying of terminal liver cancer.  They live right next door to the Loews, and he went there today to have a drink, do some work and get a bit of a respite from the very sad situation at his parents house.   My husband is a big scotch drinker.  He knows his scotch.  He ordered a Johnny Walker Black label but what the bartender poured him was not JW black label.  Without a doubt they poured cheap sweet scotch, and on top of it they gave him a thimbleful at best .that they charged $15 bucks for.  They also now charge $4  to park in their lot but you can get the ticket validated. My husband validated his parking ticket, but when he left the hotel they tried to charge him 4 bucks and then argued with him about whether the ticket was validated!  It was by far one of the worst hotel experiences ever and we will never go back to the Loews in Coronado.  We have reservations for later this summer to stay at the Loews in Santa Monica for five nights but I'm starting to rethink staying there.  Is the economy so bad that even really nice hotels like the Loews have to nickel and dime people?  Crazy.

Exceptional hotel.  Quiet rooms, great views, reasonable prices, great pools and extremely attentive staff....the only possible downside is that it's a little far away from all the downtown shops (which is fine by me).  I wouldn't want to spend more than a couple days on the island, so if you're thinking of a 5 day weekend, you might want to consider staying in SD for a few days, then getting out to Coronado for the remainder.

This was my first stay at Loews hotel and I must say, I was pretty impressed.  There were a few quirks here and there but overall service was excellent.  I recommend enrolling in Loews First program which is like a mileage program.  It's free to enroll and it'll get you free perks like bottle of wine upon arrival.  The room service was awesome.  The waiters are extremely helpful and friendly.  The bay view room was very nice though not that big.  It was one of the coldest day so didn't get to use the pool nor jacuzzi but in the warmer weather I would think it's awesome.  They had several pools and a few jacuzzi in the pool area as well as very nicely equipped spa with sauna, steam room, more jacuzzi and a nice lounge area with snacks and drinks.
The grand entrance is beautiful with a nice big center table with huge seasonal decoration, a nice size cozy lounge and a lobby bar.  I would love to eat at their main restaurant the next time.  The cafe had good food and decent hours.  It's just not for late nighters though since bars and restaurants close at 9 on most nights.

I have been here for a couple of conferences and I love it!  The first time I used the exercise facility a couple of times, and really liked how they provide  you with towels.  There are a few weight machines, tvs, treadmills, eliptical machines.  It was confusing the first time understanding the floor layout, but made more sense the second time I stayed there.  They also have a spa of course, pools, and sauna.  I really like the terrace area where we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The food is pretty decent.  It can be hit or miss, but they do have awesome breakfasts here.  Love, love the bacon here.  My favorites are the duck, tres leches and chocolate kaluha cake.  The rooms are pretty fabulous.  They have plasma screen tvs, and a really nice big bathroom.  I took bubble baths quite a bit.  They also provide you with bathrobes, which I liked to just walk in after changing out of business clothes it's nice!  The room has a small little balcony area that you can sit outside on as well.  The service is spectacular from wake up calls, bringing me a razor, and setting up my shuttle ride home.  They only do shuttle service at 9, 11, 3 and 5 and 5:15pm.  So, you are screwed in between times if you wanted to go into the shopping area, otherwise you are close to the naval base and maybe some beaches.  There's a nice small bar area.  The conference rooms are nice.  I really like the Loews chain.  I never mind coming out here.

I remember going to this place for a wedding from one of my cousins. Very cool place, very nice and well, it felt upper class. I'm told it's a very expensive hotel and I could tell by just walking into the lobby/rotunda of the hotel that it wasn't cheap. The access of the hotel is okay, though. We drove using the Coronado Bay Bridge but I would find out later that it would have been better if we had used Silver Strand Blvd. I don't particularly like driving on the Coronado Bay Bridge as it is so it probably would have been a better idea. But that's something that was known after the fact. The parking of the hotel is also very scattershot. It was difficult to find any open spot in the place and I was worried that we would have to walk a long distance from a parking spot to the hotel. Inside the hotel was pretty cool, though. The ballrooms are huge, the bathrooms are nice, and much of the ground floor of the hotel provides a spectacular view of San Diego Bay. The food service for the wedding was very good, I remember.

This place is so nice..The setting is terrific overlooking either San Diego Bay or the Pacific. It's almost in walking distance to the mexican border. Loved hanging out by their pool. They had excellent food. My room was heaven. The bathtub was HUGE. Heck, the bathroom was really sweet. San Diego's old town is very nice and I'll go back in a second. This hotel is pricy, again I had a sweet business deal, so all expense paid.
