Honolulu, HI
Recently stayed here and loved that it is pet friendly. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Loved the fireplace by the bar area. It would b e nice if it overlooked the ocean more.
Rooms are large and clean and nice big tub to soak in.
Valet guys are quick and helpful
Hear they r renovating soon so it will be even nicer !! I will stay here again someday. The gondola ride was "okay" I feel the guide should talk more and give us info on the area as we stroll by in the boat. The fog rolled in so it kind of spoiled it a bit.
Not sure how much to tip the valet guys each time so we felt a little ignored at times like they were giving us a message no tip no service or a lot slower service .. Made us feel uncomfortable one night.. We always leave a nice tip at the end of our stay.. Always!!
Thank you !!

My best tip: If you're not from the area you need to have a car to get around!! This hotel is secluded from the rest of Coronado and downtown San Diego for that matter. I'm sure expensive taxi rides would get annoying!! You need a car!
Loews is a great resort with many amenities to help you relax. The hotel is very, very pet friendly. This was the main reason I chose a 4 day stay here during Christmas 2011. The staff were friendly and everything was clean and comfortable. I got a full bay view room that I was somewhat disappointed with. I expected a better view of the downtown San Diego skyline but instead my room in Building 5 faced Chula Vista. Yeah I was overlooking the water but I didn't much want to stare at Chula Vista for goodness sakes. There were other similar rooms with better views....guess it was luck of the draw.
The pool area was huge and awesome. Luckily the weather was very warm that weekend so I got to lay out and enjoy this amenity.
The on site restaurant Market Cafe was surprisingly very good. The service was excellent and the food very good. A bit over priced but that's what I'd expect at a hotel resort.
Free wifi in the hotel lobby only. You need to pay for wifi in your room. Parking was about $25 a day.
I'd definitely return and would recommend to anyone looking for a secluded, well appointed resort. -

My husband and I spent Christmas Weekend here and we had such an amazing time. It's a little off the beaten path (which is great) and it's only a few minutes drive to Orange Ave (where many of the Shops & Restaurants are).
Property:
Really nice and well maintained. Beautiful views of the Coronado Bridge and SD skyline. Ton's of amenities (Spa, Shops, Pool, Lounges, Tennis). There is also a rental place on site for bikes, paddle boats, jet ski's, SUP, and kayaks.
Staff:
EXCELLENT! Service was amazing and everyone there was cheerful, friendly, and very helpful. It was a wonderful experience.
On Site Restaurants:
- We went to the coffee bar at The Market Cafe. Good coffee and yummy pastries.
- Christmas Day we did the buffet brunch. YUMMY! Wonderful & varied selection of food.
We would definitely come back again!!
If you happen to go I also HIGHLY recommend The Gondola Company (it's on site). My husband and I did the sunset cruise and it was romantic and we really enjoyed it. -

Wow! Nice resort! Since my dad and I explored the whole place at 6:30,
and it was nice! Here is what we found.
1) Teen lounge ROCKS!
2) If you need a daycare,go to the KID CLUB and pay $40.
3) I love the smell of the herb garden! You should go there!
4)Go outside if you want to play tennis.Really nice court!
5) If you need an iPad,go near the check-in and find two iPads.
6) There was a CUTE birdcage shaped like a castle and birds were in there, tweeting.
7) Fine breakfeast with kids menu.
8) The bathroom is great! The hair dryer is in the bag on the door.
9)WONDERFUL VIEW!!!!!!!! You should go outside!
Really nice hotel and resort! ExtraOrdinary! Teriffic! -

Beautiful resort. Went for my wife's birthday and they totally hooked us up with an upgrade to a suite with an amazing view.

They are always so accommodating and kind at the Loews. Despite their high prices... it is worth it because you really get a great experience.
My only complaint would be that they changed the menu around in the Market Cafe. It's too similar to the nicer restaurant up stairs and not enough 'comfort' options. I say they should stick to their 'Loews Classic Comforts' or whatever they're called, to appease a wider range of guests. We can go upstairs if we want fine dining... -

Great hotel in Coronado Bay.
Every staff member we came across was genuinely nice and extremely helpful. The valet guys even helped us with directions every time we drove out of the hotel.
Yes, the rooms aren't as nice as other Loews, but the location and amenities make it worth it. The pool is huge and there's tennis courts if you're feeling a little competitive during your vacay.
Breakfast buffet is good and the patio makes it a great, relaxing brunch.
oOoh, also did the surf lessons where they shuttle you down to the beach. A little pricey, but I enjoyed it and actually stood up on the board by the end of the lesson. -

I could of gone with 3 stars but the location is not good. When you are in Coronado you need to stay at the Del or a nearby hotel so minus 1 star for that. Also minus 1 star for this aged property which needs a serious face lift.My understanding is they will be painting it this spring.Minus 1 star for the overall service as we had an issue with the bartender about having our dog in the bar area which we checked on prior to sitting down. This place claims to be dog friendly but it all depends on who is on duty at the time. The bartender even told us"some Mgrs allow dogs and others do not "" How messed up is that ?? Needless to say we will not be returning !

My brand-spankin-new wifey and I decided to come to San Diego for a "mini-moon" right after our wedding, in lieu of a longer honeymoon-type vacation in the near future. We stayed at the Loews Coronado Bay resort for a few days and had a really great time!
Our room was comfy, clean and quite spacious. We had a great little patio with deck chairs which included a 'partial bay view' basically this means your room is tucked closer to the central 'hub' of the hotel, so your view is a little bit blocked by the building...the more you're willing to pay, the further out towards the water you are (I think anyway). Anyway it was nice.
I will say though, this place is HUGE! That made it feel a little less...unique? intimate? I dunno. The place was great and the room was nice, but it just felt a little bit isolated.
Another thing adding towards the general feeling of isolation: you really ARE isolated when you stay at this place. Not only are you out on Coronado Island separated from the mainland, but you're waaay out on the island. You have drive 5 miles or so down from the main part of Coronado proper before you get to the hotel. Its in a great spot, but this means you have to drive a bit if you want to get to anything to do..go to the beach, go for dinner..these things are all require transportation. There is a beach across the [HIGHWAY?] from the hotel, but its a State beach and therefore isn't free.
I had a really great time at Loews Coronado, but I think if I did it again I'd try to stay somewhere a little closer to the action. -

I stayed at Loews Coronado Bay Resort for a weekend getaway and was unimpressed with the hotel. We stayed in a king room with ocean view -- the view was okay. The room was clean but a bit outdated and the shower and bathtub were SUPER tiny. We ordered room service one morning and the food was decent for room service. The hotel is secluded with not a whole lot to do on the "resort." The town of Coronado is about a 10 minute drive away and there are definitely better restaurants and more to do there.
If you like to travel with your dog, Lowes is a good option as it is pet friendly and unlike most pet-friendly hotels, the pet fee was only $35 for two nights -- most hotels charge a lot more. While the hotel has a doggie room service menu, it did not really offer any other pet amenities like a doggie bed and bowls as other hotels do. There is, however, plenty of space on the property to walk your dog, which was nice.
As others have mentioned, the hotel charges for everything including almost $30/night for valet parking and a daily usage fee for wireless Internet -- nowadays who charges for Internet? :(
Overall, the hotel is very average and I will probably not be returning. -

Nice property and lots of amenities like a spa, shops, and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and so was the bathroom. Bed was OK. I had trouble sleeping because of a loud, rattling vent in my room.
There is a fee for parking. Friendly staff. -

Great beach resort!!
We came here since I had some airline miles and it was on the list and I was not disappointed. It's a cute beach resort that feels like you are on an island away from it all across from a harbor with boats and little condos. Hotel grounds are well kept and it's a pretty big hotel overall. They have 3 pools to pick from and we enjoyed the adult one that was heated! Service was a bit spotty at the pool since one day they shut down at 12:30 so we had to go the hotel restaurant for food! I know September off season but still annoying! Otherwise it was pretty decent the other days we were there they had a big drink and food menu. I loved my Salmon burger and fries! Their salads were amazing as well with tons of veggies, and the tuna rocked!
Your near Silver Strand State Beach which is across the street and was not crowded at all and they do offer a shuttle to it.
The hotel rooms were pretty good size and we had been upgraded for free which was nice. We had a view of the harbor which was cute with chairs we could go sit out on. Bathrooms were good size with a separate shower and bath tub. The lobby looked a little dated in ugly blue carpet but made up for it with a bar that was pretty lively throughout our stay there and very modern decor. You do have to pay for parking at $25 a day but it's not bad since Hotel del Coronado is $600 a night so you can get over the price. The hotel was about 4 miles from downtown so you need a car so you can go out to dinner since hotel food is always average for dinner to me. Overall I would give it 3 1/2 stars and great for a 5 day trip if you want to get away and relax!! -

We love this place. We come when ever we can get a deal on it. We travel w/2 labrador retrievers and the staff is super welcoming. They love the dogs and offer them dog cookies whenever you walk by. Lots of room to walk the dogs. I agree that there is not a lot of activities and we aren't "spa" people. Haven't eaten at the restaurants.
Rooms are roomie and the beds comfortable. Like all nice hotels, they do charge for everything. $25/stay dog fee and now $25/day self park. They do go above and beyond though as when we came for my husband's b'day, they sent up champagne and choc covered strawberries. Yum.
The gondola company is on property, and offers gondola rides around Coronado Cays, which is fun. -
Review from Mike B.
Not sure what all the fuss was about. the staff was quite friendly, they even let us pick some lemons and limes off the trees by our room.
The pool was really busy, probably a bit undersized for the amount of rooms, but it was nice. The hot tub was at a good temperature too.
The rooms are a bit dated, but the price is usually a trade off. If you really want the $600+ night experience at Hotel Del Coronado, you're welcome to it. But if you want to enjoy Coronado beach by a short drive while saving a few hundred bucks, welcome to Loews. -

I stayed here for 4 days towards the end of summer. I found my stay to be pleasurable and enjoyable. The hotel grounds are nicely appointed and well kept. The rooms were clean, marginally larger than normal and offered useable balconies. The bathroom was nice and offered a separate tub and shower.
I thought the pool(s) were ample. There are 3 of them along with 2 jacuzzis. It was fairly crowded, but there is ample seating. There is also a bar and restaurant with poolside service. They offer a daily summer camp for the kids and just general games even if you're not enrolled in the camp. The also offer free popsicles in the afternoon.
Silver Strand State Beach is across the street and they offer free shuttle service to and from. The beach is pretty nice and not crowded. It is not as powdery as Coronado beach, but you also have less of a walk to the water.
Here's where the hotel lost points: first of all, they are suppose to provide chairs and umbrellas at their section of the beach. When we arrived, they were all out. This would be somewhat understandable if it was crowded, but I think there were literally 3 or 4 other families out there. Luckily we drove from LA with our own stuff. We had to take the shuttle back to hotel and drive back (paying $10 for parking). Secondly, I ordered a shaving kit from housekeeping one evening. After waiting for 40 minutes, I just left for dinner without it. When I returned several hours later, it still hadn't arrived. This is not the type of service I'd expect at a resort hotel.
Overall, I think that this is a good value. Parking is an extra $25 or $30 per day. The hotel has 5 different buildings each with their own parking section. I would probably give this place another shot in the future and hope for better service. -
Review from Lisa W.
My bf's friend were getting married here and the reception was here. We live in SD but decided to rent a hotel room since it's far from everything. The location is great, great views, across from the state beach, rooms were nice and big with a really big balcony, bathrooms were big and modern...
Pool service: Pool was really dirty, had tree leaves/pollen all over it. The food at the pool, HORRIBLE. I got the ceviche, and it wasn't even what a ceviche was! It was more like salsa. There were 3 small tiny shrimps, and no sea bass (like the menu said). I was so disappointed, for $15 I can get REAL ceviche at a Mexican joint. What a ripe off. Drinks, food, everything was pricey, they add an 18% gratuity on all drinks & food automatically.
Wedding Reception: the reception area was really nice. Had a big dance floor, and a seating room outside the ballroom. The decoration was really nice. As for hotel food...ugh, go North and eat somewhere on Coronado's main location. Oh yeah, they charge for parking $26 a day. Total ripe off. Everything you ask for they will charge you. -
Review from Grace N.
DON'T stay here if:
-You want to be in the middle of it all
-You don't have a car
-You don't like being charged for every little thing, as resorts often do (internet fees in room, $25/night parking, $10/day for workout facility, etc)
-You're not a patriot (the Naval Amphibious base is close by)
-You're expecting white sand beaches
-You want easy access to a hoppin' downtown area (the Ferry Landing on Coronado is 5 miles away and cute but small)
DO stay here if:
-You get a great deal on Expedia
-You appreciate clean and spacious rooms with balconies and scenic views
-You like to bike, jet ski, or take romantic gondola rides (rental place on the premises)
-You appreciate friendly, efficient service
-You want a quiet place to get away from it all and veg out by the pool -

Ok, so first off the view from our room was amazing. They accidentally booked us a double bed and when we asked for a king they upgraded us to an awesome room with a terrace and super comfy chairs literally right on the bay. Gorgeous location.
That being said I still only give this place two stars. Why so harsh?
- As other reviewers have said our room was also not ready when we arrived after the check in time.
- Fly in my husbands beer.
- Dog (?)hair on the coverlet on the bed
- Iron in the room was broken and it took two calls and 40 minutes to get a new one.
- Cold congealed prawns.
- Dinner for 9 served in a sporadic and unorganized manner.
- One of the more in charge type people, as he was waiting on us, actually started in complaining that the conference we were there for was "busting his balls" (this was his attempt at friendly chit-chat...).
In other words everything was either slow or cold or served with a side of "I wish I was back home getting stoned" -

So I haven't actually stayed at the hotel, so I can't speak to that, but I recently went to a preview of its Sunday Funday promotion (basically where locals can come use the resort's pools) and had a fantastic time.
I went with a group of about 12 people, so going anywhere can be an ordeal, but all the staff were super friendly and accommodating. At one point, we needed a bottle of room-temperature bottled water to make the baby's bottle, and the server, Sarah, went on a hunt to find it for us.
The pools themselves were an awesome temperature (I am NOT a fan of super cold pools, even in hot weather). The adult pool was cooler though, if that's your thing. We spent most of the time in the smaller kiddie pool playing with my niece who I think had the best time of all of us. I also liked how the lounge chairs were covered with towel covers -- hygienic and smart.
The Sunday Funday promotion also includes a 20 percent discount to the Sea Spa and food and drinks. We didn't do any spa treatments, but I had a Tuna Nicoise Salad that had a lot of variety of yummy ingredients and calamari that was just the right amount of crispy. Three hours complimentary parking is also super nice, and it wasn't too hard to find parking either.
If you're a local looking for a resort-like escape for the day, I recommend Sunday Funday. -

Pros:
Beautiful location and decor, good servers, and friendly and professional housekeeping staff. Nice pools.
Cons:
1. Trapped 4+ miles south of business district and overcharged for everything on premises.
2. "Free shuttle" to main part of Coronado holds 7 people and runs inconsistently. Hotel has contracts with specific cab companies that often result in long waits and still $20 each way.
3. If you rent a car at airport to try to get around that, they charge for parking (currently $22/day for self-park).
4. Food is expensive and of mediocre quality.
5. Management poorly responsive and unmotivated. Departments shift blame to one another and onto customers when problems and oversights occur.
I generally really like Loews, but the Loews Coronado Bay Resort fails.
Later edit: Housekeeping services got worse during stay... minor things like not refilling sweetners for in-room coffee. Not a huge deal, but annoying. -

Like "Pablito", I too have stayed at many fine hotels, especially in California and the coastal areas. And while I am likely to return to 9 out of 10 of them, the Loews at Coronado Bay shall never be one of them- EVER! Let me give it to you straight-the Loews will nickel and dime you until your eyeballs bleed. Some examples:
Gym-$10 (lame, and it closes at 8pm)
Rollaway -$25 (per effin' night)
Soda purchased in the lobby -$3 (absurd)
WI-FI $12(seriously?!)
We should have known something was up when we arrived at 4:00, right at check-in time, and our room wasn't ready. The man at the counter was nice enough to offer to call us when the room was ready, except that HE FORGOT TO and we sat and waited in the lobby for about an hour and a half until we went up to the counter and asked for our room (again). On top of that, we had to ask for a rollaway twice at the counter and, finally, once over the phone for it to finally get delivered. Needless to say, this (unwelcoming) experience and the ridiculous, over-the-top fees and charges did not leave us with any desire to come back. Save your money people and stay somewhere else in Coronado. -
Review from Andrew T.
This place was really a very average hotel. I had hopes, based on what people had told me, and based on photos on their website, that this would be a very nice hotel, even a hotel that could give the Davenport a run for its money. But no.
I mean, there's nothing wrong here. I can say that the beds were comfortable, even if they didn't have fitted sheets (and I *hate* the flat sheet). The linens were crisp, pillows nice. Bathrooms were very large, with both soaker tubs and glassed in showers, with a decent shower head, actually above my head height. And, as I'm noticing is more and more common, several HD channels on the decent flat panel TV. So, realistically, no complaints. It just didn't really do anything to blow me away. I would be remiss if I didn't point out that I didn't have a chance to use the pool, and didn't have kids with me, so what looks like nice kid friendly amenities went to waste.
I was also there for a conference, so I should mention that their ability to handle a crowd was fine. Several nice ball rooms, decent snack/meal service for the captive attendees - all of that was just fine. The view from the hall way that runs by their conference room, of downtown and Navy's port facilities, was really spectacular on nice sunny days. Which didn't make me feel any better about being stuck at the conference.
But I can't finish without saying that they did allow us (after kicking a group out of the pool area on the previous night) to play flip-cup in the lobby of the hotel one night. They even had a flip cup table. So either they have super cool college staff that needs to play flip cup on short notice...or they managed to make us a table on short notice. Either way, kind of impressive.Listed in: Hotels That Can't Afford…

Thinking of hosting an event here? Let me save you the anguish -- don't do it. I am writing this negative review in light of a meeting that my organization held at this hotel in July 2011. It is only after reaching my wits end, that I write this negative review.
To say that the logistics surrounding my meeting were an utter and complete disaster is an understatement. I get it -- my meeting could easily have been an anomaly and I would not have written a negative review if that had been the only problem.
Really though, it's the (lack) of follow up and the (lack) of appropriate conflict resolution that now has me incredibly peeved. 8 weeks, 4 emails and 3 phone calls later I have yet to receive a full copy of the invoice. 8 weeks, 4 e-mails and 3 phone calls later I have yet to receive the "token of apology" that hotel management promised.
If you work in the "hospitality" industry and say you're going to do something -- you should follow through, and you should do so without being hounded by your customer every week for 8 weeks. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected a lot more. Quite frankly, I've received better customer service at the Holiday Inn Express. -
Review from Scott S.
I didn't like it.
The worst food my whole trip to San Diego was at this hotel.
It is expensive the Sunday champagne brunch is $34/person
You are trapped in the middle of the island with nothing too do
The shuttle from the hotel runs every 2 - 3 hours and seats a whopping 7 people, reservations required so you never get it and need to take a $20.00 cab ride to downtown Coronado
Expensive valet parking for a hotel "in the middle of nowhere"
Too many damn dogs
Rooms are average, and the bay views are nice.
But, yes..the bathrooms are nice and large as other readers seem to stress, so if you go to hotels for the bathrooms, this is the place for you!. -

Our stay this past weekend was great! First of all, customer service was Amazing! We were always greeted by the valet guys, they were opening the hotel and car doors for all 4 of us and called by name (Mr soandso) and thanked for staying with them... Oh so friendly!
Stayed on a saturday night and room charges came to $147 after upgrading to a pool/bay view room. (our friends had upgraded to an ocean view with was around 180)
The room was very clean and the decor was very spa-like.
Lots of kids out by the pool saturday afternoon was a little noisy up in our room, but nothing unacceptable.
The night we were there, a school was having their prom, so it was probably a little noisier than usual later into the evening.
The minibar charges $5 for the wine opener and didn't want to pay the bartender an uncorking fee, so we just picked up a bottle of sparkling wine (not requiring special equipment) from Von's.
I think valet parking was $26/night (I don't understand why parking is outrageous everywhere in california) -
Review from Lance W.
Loews is a nice resort hotel but is showing its age... I'm assuming that the gilded age for Loews is about the same time that the Bee Gee's released Saturday Night Fever...
That being said, the common areas and pool areas are nice and I had a great time while staying there for a business conference. The "Del" is always a better choice if you can swing it... Del Coronado Hotel is one of the finest beach hotels in So Cal...
As for Loews, everything was OK but nothing was spectacular.... Dining was just OK... Shopping was less than OK.. Location is way out in the middle of nowhere, which may be preferred by some vacationers... 20-30 minute cab ride to the airport and into San Diego Gas Lamp...
Would I stay at Loews again, maybe? But certainly not a slam dunk decision.... -

Dreadful. Came here for Christmas with my husband and another couple. I am all for pet friendly hotels but this one is ridiculous. Large dogs, long haired dogs, hair on the furniture and carpet. Not a clean hotel. But everyone is friendly yes. We had a junior suite with a gorgeous view but the room was not clean ( water spots on all the mirrors, blood stained mattress cover that you could see through the sheets ( really you can't throw away stained sheets...ewwww). No extra amenities like slippers or upgraded toiletries like you get in our suite size room. The dog in the next room was yapping all night but since dog friendly there is nothing you can do. Here's an idea: designate specific buildings/ rooms for pet and pet owners like other hotels do. Not impressed with this hotel. Self parking $25/day. Small gym. Friendly staff is the only plus.

My favorite hotel in Coronado. It is on a small private peninsula with a great marina. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are large. It is also pet friendly which is always a plus, because we like to travel with our dogs.
Mistral restaurant is great. We had dinner there and watched the 4th of July fireworks on the bay. It also has a large adult only pool. -

The Loew's is such a great resort, but I am a fan because I'm a local. They are one of the few destinations in Coronado that give a local customer discount. I always have my out of town guests stay here; so much better than the Hotel del on so many levels. I also ride my bike out most Saturdays for an enjoyable breakfast with a great wait staff! Everyone is so friendly and provides great service. Prices are reasonable for a resort of this caliber.

Got a great deal for a long weekend so decided to getaway. Nice accommodation with awesome toiletries! Very clean rooms and probably the softest sheets I've ever slept on (and I've stayed in quite a few hotels). Location is not as ideal since it is at the end of Coronado Bay so it's quite secluded. I'd probably stay here again if the deal is right

First off let me just say, it's probably my fault for not having that great of a time... I got a "super hot deal" off Expedia for a two night stay (for the price of one) at what I THOUGHT was The Hotel Del Coronado, but it was actually for this place. It is not exactly romantic, so coming here for our two year anniversary was a bummer. BUT we made it work and spent most of our time in the room, which was nice (and probably one of the cheapest rooms). Basic amenities, but no MP3 outlet/dock. (In this day and age, COME ON!) Superior rooms (which is what I was supposed to get) was supposed to have a spa tub, but we had only a shower which was weird, flush with the floor. Parking was a major problem, especially because the night we stayed they had some sort of prom there and there was MAJOR traffic.
The food in the restaurants/room service was mediocre for being so damn expensive. The menu was limited and nothing was incredibly satisfying.
Needless to say, I probably won't be staying here again unless I come back with my four kids for a "family" trip.
A MAJOR PLUS for this place, you can bring your dogs!!! -
Review from Mike P.
Staff is helpful and friendly.
This is a pet friendly hotel which seems to be somewhat hidden from those of us that weren't vacationing with our dog. For us this was a slight issue because my sister is allergic. We wished the hotel was more forthright. Since pet friendly hotels are not so common there were a lot of dogs staying at the same time as us (which I didn't mind).
Decor is somewhat dated (best part is the bathroom that seems recently renovated with a huge tub).
Stayed here on nye and they had free champagne in the evening and a live band in the lobby.
If it's nice and warm out and you plan on using the facilities I would definitely come back, but if not this place is too far away from everything to stay here again. -

Our stay here has overall been great!
Luxury king bay-view room: very clean and well designed. Warm colors and cute decor. We were in the '5' building and had a spectacular view of the bay from our balcony. The bathrooms are wonderful! Glass shower AND huge jacuzzi-like tub!
Bed: SO comfy. We brought our own pillows because we are pillow snobs. The pillows provided were pretty great.
Parking: costs $22 per night to self park which is much more convenient (because garage is right beneath rooms). Paying $26 + tip for valet seems silly and inconvenient.
PB Teen Room: We stumbled upon this by mistake but if you have teenagers (or if you're just a teenager at heart)...this place is pretty cool. It is adorably decorated (is straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog) and it has a Wii, huge tv, and other fun things for youngsters to do. We were tempted to hang out here....
Pool: great adult pool and nice lounge chairs.
Lobby: live music on weekends.
Note: this resort is a bit off the beaten path. You must have a car to get to the heart of Coronado where the great restaurants are! -

This is a review for the Sunday Funday promotion....
First, when pulling up to the resort the staff was very kind and helpful finding us parking. Something everyone would like is that the underground parking is very convienent, easy to access and close. When traveling with bags and kids, a far walk is the last thing you want.
Onto the Pool... The lounge chairs were very nice and spaced out. I hate being put shoulder to shoulder with strangers, they have them placed where moving around and getting up isn't an issue and your stuff isn't crammed into some corner.
There were 3 pools, however we pretty much stuck to the 2 closest ones. While they are good size, warm and family friendly, they aren't huge resort pools you may be used to in Mexico or elsewhere. They didn't have the water slide that kids love or water playground. Also, if you wanted to venture to the beach/ocean you would have to leave the property. While you would think it is right there (being where it's located) it is across the street.
As for the food, it was very very good. We were there for 5 hours and our group tried just about everything. It's much better than fast food or your typical Chilli's/applebees. It's actually cooked and made there fresh. The drinks were again very good. Plenty to choose from and made just right.
Overall a fun and relaxing experience. Great food, very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely would recommend for families that don't want to spend alot of $ on admission but are looking for good food and relaxation. -

This is my favorite place to stay in San Diego. Exceptional customers service, clean, great price for a luxury hotel (look for extra discounts posed on Travelzoo) and great pool area and outdoor spaces. The views are incredible and you feel like you are on your own mini-island....pretty much because you are!
They also rent out kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, etc so it is great if you're active or trying to stay in shape wile on vacay.
Two drawbacks:
--Hotel is kind of far from downtown or the main part of Coronado and a bit isolated. But I also like to feel a bit isolated every once in a while!
--Parking fee - over $20 to park per night, either self-parking or valet.
Make sure to ask to sign up for their membership/rewards program so you can get added benefits (late check-out). -

My experience at Loew's is as a convention guest. And as far as convention hotels go, its pretty good. It's quiet, they're great about wake-up calls, and the AV support is top-notch. Although I still find the staff to be helpful and courteous, I can't in good faith put the rating up above a 3. I'm just not yet a fan.
For starters, the location. Although a scant two miles from downtown Coronado, that cab ride can make all the difference when you're trying to have a quick bite to eat and perhaps even squeeze in a workout before the afternoon sessions begin. It's true, there is a hotel shuttle, but it's hard for that service to keep up with the needs of a large (200+) group.
The amenities are also fair to midland. I've indulged in some of their spa services and found them to be passable, if with a large price tag. I recommend having a sit in the sauna and then taking lunch out on one of their spa patios. It's much more cost-efficient, and just as relaxing.
If I could, I'd bump up the rating by 1/2 a star for the beauty of some of the outdoor spaces here. In good weather, these spaces can't be beat. It's great to be able to relax outside and get some fresh air. I'm well aware that this feature alone puts Loew's above the rest when it comes to conference facilities.
At the end of the day, though, I wouldn't stay here if coming to town for a vacation. It's too far from the action for my liking. -

I love it here! I stayed here this summer and once 18 years prior. Typing that made me feel quite old; I mean refined. During my first visit I had tennis lessons at the resort and they made cute little lunches for my brother and me. And then I was struck down with chicken pox. And there is no place I'd rather be with chicken pox than Loews.
Loews is kind of set apart from everything else, but this makes for a great bicycle ride. The resort itself and the rooms are very clean. They have a great set up and happy hour is worthy of your time. If you do partake in happy hour, make sure you grab a seat outside by one of the two fire pits overlooking the water. Another option is sitting in the lobby area. There is comfortable seating and the waiters are happy to bring beverages and snacks to this area if you just ask. They are very helpful and friendly.
The little shop inside, by the Market Cafe, has some really unique gifts. They even have a special nook full of goodies for the younger crowd, like coloring books and super cool animal rings. (I picked up a tiger, elephant, and sea turtle ring for $6!) -

My wife and I loved this resort. She is director of corporate training at a larger corporation, and I am an author and conference speaker, so we are no strangers to resorts.
We were married in November but never had time for a honeymoon. We both love Coronado and settled on the Loews resort.
The highlight of the visit is the friendliness, precision and professionalism of the staff. My wife and I have a passion for customer service, and Loews staff excelled.
The room was nice, clean and comfortable and included a Keurig coffee maker with many cups. But one does not visit Coronado to stay in the room. The pool area is very nice and well protected from the wind. The pool restaurant/bar is just right. The restaurants were excellent and reasonably priced, considering what you received.
The lounge area is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the live music on Saturday night.
All in all this was the perfect spot for a four night getaway. While at the Loews we had absolutely nothing to worry about and could focus entirely on each other. -

LOVE THIS PLACE.
-Pet friendly
-Customer service was so friendly...always a hello in the halls.
-Reasonable priced place.
-Rooms are surprisingly big.
-Huge bathtub. 3 ppl could fit in there...not that we tried or anything.
-Stand up showers.
-Citrus gardens.
-Very family friendly with game rooms, "teen rooms" (whatever that means).
-Market cafe food was really good. Especially the steak I had for breakfast =)
-Great views of Coronado. Felt like I was in the Hamptons or something with small sail boats in the view.
If there was any negative, I have to say is that THEY NEED TO HAVE BUBBLE BATH SALTS OR SOMETHING if they're gonna have a tub like that. -

Don't let the main picture fool you. That's the presidential suite! Even with that room you get a dismal view of the bay. In either case, I did not have a pleasant experience here whatsoever. The resort was overbooked, and supposedly I was "upgraded" to another room. I assumed upgrades would have at least a decent view. However, I didn't get a view of anything but the rooms across from me and a minimal view of the bay.
Worst of all, bug bites, I woke up to discover several of them on myself.
In addition, the staff was a bit condescending and seemed to speak to me as if I were a child. The facade they are attempting to put up to be nice and assertive is pretty obvious, they force their smiles and speak in a strange soft tone.
Hotel Del Coronado seems more of my taste.
