I love this location because it isn't crowded = less competition for clothes except there's not much a selection, so the sizes are lacking. BUT I go for the Natori bras, lingerie, and jewelry. Fun stuff. Esp since I signed up for a free Loehmann's card and it's my bday month, I get 25% off my purchase in July.  i found a beautiful YaYa Aflalo shirt that I'm going to splurge on with my 25% discount. It's a hit or miss, but if you're close by, it's definitely worth browsing through. The handbags are always plentiful, and right now they have a 40% additional discount off purple tagged items, so that's exciting. They close late at 9PM.  I stop here when I go to Safeway and Honey Berry Yogurt is next door, which makes it even more fun!

P.S. The communal dressing room is a crack up...I love it!

Some are better than others. I relocated here from MI and I have found some treasures at Loehmann's. I was in need of some casual clothes since I am no longer wearing suits to work every day. I was greatly disappointed with the selection. I found  some Joe's jeans after rummaging through each rack twice. I noticed some guy looking at me, maybe he thought I was a shoplifter and was stealing. Typical stereotypes. I wanted to inform him to watch someone else as I  had enough money to buy everything in the store if I desire.

Experience have been that due to location your selections may differ. I will continue to explore other Loehmann's to find my treasures.

Happy shopping Divas!

I came here yesterday due to all the good reviews on Yelp, however it fell drastically short of expectation. The place is like a giant Ross or Marshall's. Yes they have premium brands but they fail to carry anything of interest.

The prices weren't even that great, I've seen way better merchandise and deals at Nordstrom Rack and sale sections at the mall. I know the whole point of these places is to make premium apparel affordable. But why not go the distance and shell out an extra $50 or so on jeans to get a pair that doesn't look like it's gonna fall apart on you in a week. A lot of the fabrics in the denim and dresses probably didn't pass QA/QC which is why they get sent to places like these.

Our trip here was quick and disappointing. Save your time, effort and money by just buying from Nordstrom Rack, Sample Sales or the mall.

Great place for purses too. One time I found a Juicy Daydreamer Tote for 1/2 the price that they usually retail for. I regretted not getting it when I saw it because it was gone the next day.. but since then, I've never made the same mistake. They have great LAMB bags and other name brands. So it's always worth it to take a look in their purse area.

Love this place. Got 7 jeans for 90bucks and Joes for 80...went to macys and they had the same joes for 160, Hudson shorts for 60...Got a juicy coin purse for 30, nordstroms and juicy carried the same one for like 50. Basically this place carries the best deals. Only thing I hate is there fitting rooms...Only 3 rooms are private and the rest is just an open space where people change freely...

Become a golds member if you plan on shopping here a lot. $25 a year gets you 10% off every time you buy something.

I prefer this location over Milpitas (majority of the time)...
This location is usually more clean and organized. The prices seem a little cheaper than Nordstrom Rack, but Nordys Rack always has more inventory. Overall, I do love Loehmanns! Designer labels for less... that's always a great thing.

The other day I purchased some lovely Betsey Johnson sunglasses for $25 and a Harajuku Lovers top for $15. I'm super happy. But I noticed that this location has NO hair products (Milpitas has a lot of Chi, Bumble & Bumble, Tigi, etc. ), NO wallets (just clearance wallets and clutches) & I think they had NO mens items (oh snap, thats crazy).
I wish Loehmann's would sell makeup (like Nordsy Rack), maybe some Mac, Bobbi Brown, etc. If that would happen, I would be in Loehmann's everyday. lol

Oh, and don't get me started with the fitting room "area".
Next time, I'll just get naked in the store itself, lol. If your lucky, you wouldn't have to wait for a room (considering there are only 3 or 4 rooms, and the remaining area is like a bridal fitting room; mirrors wall to wall).

I always think I'm going to find something fabulous here. The store is delightfully uncrowded, roomy, and accessible. Unfortunately, the selection is not that great. The perfect dress or jacket seems to jump from the rack, only for me to discover the huge rip or ink stain, making it unwearable. I guess those are the pitfalls of bargain hunting. If I were more savvy with a needle and thread, I would shop here more.

Having been to my share of Loehmann's across the country, the Sunnyvale location isn't one of the better ones (though it's worth a look).  The selection of purses, shoes, and clothing isn't as good as the SF Loehmann's location or even the SF or Colma Nordstrom Rack locations.  Some of the brands Loehmann's Sunnyvale carries (for women):  Juicy Couture, Tahari, Michael Kors, Harujuku Lovers, and Tory Burch.

There's a Juniors section, lingerie and underwear, jewelry, watches, scarves, and perfume.  They have a Back Room area with their designer brands, a men's department, and kid's department.  I didn't find any nice ties and almost all the scarves for men were cashmere.

Private dressing rooms are available but there aren't many of them so you may have to wait (in the communal dressing room).

I wasn't too impressed with the shoes section but I did like Belle by Sigerson Morrison styles they carried (flats and pumps).  I saw them at Nordstrom Rack and they were cheaper (and on sale) at Loehmann's.

I joined the Insider Club and they do send out coupons and sales notifications frequently, so it's worth signing up for (it's free to join).  If you forget the card, they can look you up based on your phone number.

My sister got a L.A.M.B. purse that was originally $500 for ...

NINETY FREAKIN' DOLLARS.

Shit, if that's not enticing enough to make you come in, I don't know what is.

10% off your first purchase when you open a membership there as well? Holy frijoles, that's AWESOME. And 15% on your birthday? Love ittt! I got a gorgeous crochet tank that was originally $80 for a little over $10. Their shoe selection sucks and the men's department is this eenie weenie little side section, but man, the women's selection is pretty big and filled with tons of great brand names at wallet friendly prices. My only gripes are the fitting rooms (umm no, I do NOT want to change in front of people I don't know) and the less than friendly workers. Shoot, definitely won't stop me from coming back though!

This place is really hit or miss.  There are sometimes when I walkout with so many clothes my arms are sore the next day, and sometimes when I can't find one decent item to try.

Boy, do I wish there were more private changing rooms.  However, sometimes, you just have to suck it up, keep your head down and try on clothes communally.  But do us all a favor and shop at Loehmann's on a day when you are wearing full-coverage panties instead of a thong.

While I've been on the Nordstrom Rack scene for a few years, I'm brand spanking new to Loehmann's. I actually came across it by accident (or incident.. take your pick). I'm an avid browser of http://SmartBargains.com, which sells mid-to-high end stuff online at sick discounts. I've been eyeballing a black Michael Kors wool peacoat and handbag for about 2 weeks but hate spending over $80 on anything I haven't seen, held or tried on in person. The SmartBargain's web site said on the product pages that you couldn't return their items to a Loehmann's store. Finally, the light bulb went off. What is this Loehmann's of which they speak? I must know.

Lo and behold, Loehmann's is a poor (yet discerning) girl's paradise. I looked up locations on the Loehmann's site and they had not one, but TWO, locations near me - Milpitas and Sunnyvale.

The following morning I popped into the Milpitas location where I promptly tried on (and ultimately purchased in another color not shown on SmartBargains) the Michael Kors coat. They also had the bag which I decided I wasn't so nuts about and passed on.

I heart Loehmann's. But here's the problem... I've got a big fat ass. None of the plus size styles are sold in the stores. I'm still giving them mad props though because the handbags and jewelry are great.

So after all that wind-bagging, here's the run-down:

1. Various styles of handbags and wallets by BCBG, Kade Spade, Coach, Kors, Kenneth Cole, Cynthia Rowley, etc.  running in the $50-$350 range.

2. Moderate selection of reading and sunglasses... a few YSL logos for $62.

3. Shoes are okay. Franco Sarto, more BCBG, BCBGirls. TONS of off-season clearance sandals, but they have pumps and boots too. I went with a girlfriend with size 11 feet and she was completely SOL. Not a lot of 10's either.

4. Jewelry is so-so.. lots of Swarovsky and Carolee

5. An outstanding selection of suits.

6. Again, I'm a big girl so I can't quite speak to the clothing selection. There is a juniors section, a misses section and a petites section with sizes ranging from 2-16 or XS-XL. They have an entire section in the store called "Premium Denim", which looks like skinny girl heaven. Juicy, Joystick, Marc Jacobs.. all sorts of stuff. I came close to forcing my boobs into a Lily Pulitzer cardigan that I found on a clearance rack for $30 but I didn't want to shoot buttons at an unsuspecting passerby.

The communal fitting room is just plain wrong, but there's no room for shame in hardcore bargain shopping.  Of the two stores, the Milpitas one seemed to have a slightly better and larger selection. Milpitas is at McCarthy Ranch Shopping Center at 880/237 and Sunnyvale is over off of Homestead and De Anza by 280.

Make sure to go to the Loehmann's web site and join their free rewards program before you go. http://www.loehmanns.c...

I love the selection of clothes at this store...this is not your TJ Maxx or Marshall's..everything is organized by color and name brand in most areas of the store.  My only complaint is they only have 4 private dressing rooms!  The rest of the women all get undressed in front of these mirrors with no privacy from each other..  I know, we're all women, but trying on clothes is a sacred thing for me, especially if I'm trying to get into something that's too small..lol!
9/14/2006:  An added note, just realized after I wrote this review that one of the blouses I bought still has the security tag on it and now I got to take it back to have it removed! minus two stars for you Loehmanns!

If you come here on the weekends, you'll find a bunch of Asian wives and young women looking for deals.  Most of the customers are Asian when I go in (I'm Asian too btw).  It's weird.

That being said, you know that this place is a great deal for brand whores and trendy fashionistas who want to take it a step up from Forever 21.  They have great stuff here once in awhile - I think everyone buys everything up when it comes out.

Sometimes I can find a great pair of cheap shoes or tops, sweaters and coats that I like here.  My fav SALT jeans are from here.  They have a variety of swimwear and casual wear too.  They always have Calvin Klein bras and undies for cheap too.

Plenty of parking, but not enough private changing stalls.  I don't like looking at flab or showing off mine.  Expect a 5-10 minute wait for a stall on the weekends.

I'm pretty much a spokesperson for Loehmann's.  When folks compliment me on a buy I love to come back at them with, "Really?  I bought it at Loehmann's.  For XXXX DOLLARS.  It was originally XXXX DOLLARS!!!"  I will do this everytime.  Without fail.

Granted, it's hit or miss.  But what do you expect?  Finding treasures takes work, but I like to scour this place when I've got some time to kill.  The snob in me thinks I'm too good for Ross/Marshall's, but I'll gladly take Loehmann's over the department stores anyday.

Fantastic quality at excellent prices.  I don't think you have to dig at all.  It's very well organized.  i have gotten some knockout, designer pieces at a fraction of the retail price (Joes Jeans for $50, Harve Benard blouses for $10, velvet blazer for $30 etc.) Birthday specials are fun.  They are also constantly getting in new merchandise & the shoe selection is superb.  There are private dressing rooms if you are bothered by the communal room,  but you may have to wait a bit.  Parking is also easy in this suburban strip mall.  Drive right up.

My biggest probem here is staying out of the store.  I have spent  fortune saving money.

If you are the type of person who needs help w/coordinating outfits, bring a friend.  You get no retail saleshelp & absolutely no frills, but I will happily forgo those extras for great quality at  prices.

Who doesn't love Loehmann's?  Designer discount is awesome if you have the time to peruse the racks frequently.   Don't go looking for something specific though, instead look for pleasant surprises.   Prices are great here... for example I've found my favorite pair of jeans for less than half the retail price.   They also have a menswear section but I've not shopped there so I don't know how it compares.

There are a few bad things about this location though.  One is the speediness, or should I say lack thereof, of the cashiers.  Man, they are the slowest people on the planet.   So don't go in a hurry.    Another is the limited sizing at times.   Being a designer clearance house they'll often have either one extreme size or the other and nothing in between, which can suck when you find something amazingly cute and not in your size.   Lastly, it doesn't seem to be the best location to find shoes, or casual dresses but YMMV.

One other thing that some people might find annoying is the communal dressing room.  It doesn't bother me at all to get nekkid in front of other women but they do have 4 private rooms for those who prefer not to.  It can be a bit of a wait for those though and you're not allowed to take in more than 6 or 8 items as a time.  Whereas in the communal part I've brought in a ton of crap and can just whip right through it.

My advice is to just bite the bullet and let it all hang out.  After all, the rest of us are in there trying to cram our asses into that too tight pair of jeans too.  ;)

UPDATE:  Please, for the love of god, people.. would you be sure to pull the damn curtain closed on the communal dressing room when you walk in and out???     I've seen more women lately just FLING the curtain open and leave it hanging halfway  open.  Jesus.   Be a little conscientious, would you?   I mean, I don't mind if you ladies all see my white ass hanging out, but I'd prefer if the ENTIRE STORE didn't.     Thanks!

If you're looking for nice brand names at a cheap(er) price, Loehmann's is the place to go! They also have a location in Milpitas. This one's just closer to my house so I go here. The selection is decent and I'm usually able to find a nice top. They also carry a good selection of purses, shoes, perfumes and colognes at cheaper prices than other places. However, they don't carry too many mens clothes.

The dressing rooms are for women only, since it's one large shared room. They also have individual stalls that you can ask for. Before you go, keep an eye out for coupons (if you receive them)!

The only reason I gave Loehmann's 3 stars instead of 4 is the fact that it is either a hit or miss.

Sometimes you go there and find no good clothes, and other times they have amazing deals on great brands of clothing!

I have bought a pair of Joe's Jeans, a pair of True Religions, a Longchamp purse, a Marc Jacobs Purse, Velvet clothes, Juicy clothes, and Lolita Lempika perfume all at really great prices!

The only thing that annoys me about Loehmann's is that they give you a lot of "insider points" that get you either 10% or 20% off, but you can only use them during certain days and it seems like whenever you can use them, you don't find anything you want to buy!

Overall this store is good, sometimes it is just annoying searching through the racks of clothing!

Oh and the Seven jeans that they sell their are not real, they are fake ones!

Dear Loehmans,

Why do you tempt me with the most delectable clothes at the most reasonable prices?  Why, oh why are you located only 5 minutes from work, and able to be accessible at lunchtime?  Why do you keep alluring me with your weighty discounts and in-the-mail coupons?

Why do you put those cute, beautiful bags in your front window?  And carry my favorite underwear?  Even my favorite Calvin Klein bras?  Really!  And your shoe selection!  You always have new cute buy-on-a-whim flats, just so practical, so it makes it easy for me to talk myself into buying them.

Really, Loehman's.  Sometimes I wish we had never met.  You go above and beyond to draw me into your glass doors and satisfy all my shopping desires.  Even though your prices are reasonable, I don't have a money tree in my backyard!  Please!  For the sake of my 401K, try and offer tackier or more expensive items!  Do it because you love me.

It's fun looking for good deals here, but it is a long ordeal and you gotta dig dig dig. They know how to sucker me in by giving me all those coupons after I spend $$$. It's pretty bad because you're like, well I got all these great coupons for 20% off or $25 off, I MUST go back and shop more or it'll just go to waste. Their men's selection is pretty weak, but they have lots women's clothes. Their checkout lines can get super long though..beware!

The dressing room is definitely not the ideal room, but you just have to learn to improvise..like put on a dress or long top while you change pants...hehe..It doesn't matter anyways, nobody is there to stare at your change clothes.

Oh True Religion, Seven, Joe's, Diesel, Rock & Republic, Chip & Pepper and so much more! These are just the JEANS that I love getting great deals on at Loehmann's. They have so many high end things in such an organized setting. There are so many evening gowns (prom dress UNDER $300 anyone?), suits, cashmere sweaters, suits, and just every day clothes for super great deals.

However, like Shanna K. says the cashiers are SUPER slow. Seriously, when I see a new cashier I have a little shred of hope that they MIGHT be speedy but no, sadly, they never are. It's pretty depressing and the lines last forever! Don't expect to find shoes here and there isn't much clothing here for men.  Minus one star for the slow cashiers, and also for the huge circular fitting room with mirrors all around. It's just plain creepy to have people be able to look at themselves and then at you without being obvious...it's just icky. I'm willing to wait 10 minutes for a much sought after private room.

I agree with Elaine S.  who says the Loehmann's experience is a hit or miss.  There have been days when I found some pretty nice clothes here, and there have been days when I don't get anything.  The brand names are decent- Studio Max, Theory, Free People (Miss Sixty- though I haven't seen much from this line lately at the store), etc....

What I DON'T like about the store is that they don't seem to be using their manpower effectively or efficiently.  For example, while there are 4-5 check-out stations at the front, there's usually only one person working at the cashier whenever I'm ready to pay. Today, I was waiting in line with about 10-15 other people  around lunch hour (you'd think they'd realize that their lunch hour shouldn't be the same as the customers' ) and there was only one person working at the cashier.  I waited in line for about a good half hour, literally.

When I got to the front of the line, some dude in a bright red jacket/blazer stepped out from the back and came in front of one of the cashiers, and I thought "great, they're finally opening another register."  I was next so I approached the register, and the guy muttered, "What do you need?"  I said, "I just want to pay."  He said in a condescending voice,  "Then you have to wait in line."  Then I said, "I have been waiting in line.  I just thought you were the cashier."    Geez....no need to be hostile.   I looked at his name card- he was a door guard.  This has to be a joke because I've been to this store several times and I have certainly never ever seen him near the front door or even patrolling the store.  So what the hell was he doing at the cash register anyway if he wasn't a cashier?  Boy needs to get back to work.

I discovered Loehmann's three years ago.

The first time I went I found some pretty cute items. The racks are arranged by designer and color.  I was so thrilled to find Free People there- at 50% off!  Sweet!

I was surprised about the dressing room- I've never knew open locker room type dressing rooms existed.  It was strange to undress in front of other ladies, especially when they were small-boned and skinny and I most definitely am not.  But to my relief, nobody was really looking at me and therefore, I hope, not secretly judging me.

I left with some nice items and plans to return on a regular basis.

Since my first visit, however, I've walked out of there empty handed more than I would like.  I don't know if it's just because I don't understand fashion or if I just have horrible luck not finding an item in my size.  Even worse is the tease of finding an item my size, but the piece being completely unflattering when I try it on.

The check out lines are also slow and I've never seen more than two cashiers working at a time.

Maybe it's me Loehmann's and not you.  Perhaps we should see other people and move on?  I'm sure you'll find someone else to love you more than I ever could.

I've gotten some adorable baby clothes here and an occasional sweater. Shoe dept is not great and Macys has cheaper prices on shoes when they  have a sale. The dressing room situation is a turn off as is the fact that it is hard to find any size 14 stuff at all! Even designer brands have larger sizes these days so I'm surprised by how hard it is to find them here?

So it's kind of like dumpster diving: you don't wanna be seen by anyone you know there, you got to dig through some crap to find the good stuff, and then you walk out with the hood of your sweatshirt covering your head. That being said, the fact that I got a pair of Salt jeans for less than $40...GOLD. If you have patience, don't mind trying to side swipe old ladies to get to racks and can tolerate the only mildly friendly people at the register, it's great. Only downside was I couldn't get into the dressing room to try on the jeans because they were full....so full that one girl (shameless, I might add) decided to strip down in the waiting area to try on her goods. So a pair of designer jeans and a peep show for less than $40. Not a bad afternoon.

I have to admit I dragged my feet coming in at first. From outside, it looks like discount department store hell. You know what mean? The stench of old musty clothes? The people who don't bother showering going through the racks? However, I can't say enough great things about Loehman's. If you have patience and an entire afternoon to burn, enjoy. The racks are not orgnized or merchandised like department stores, but sift through the less than stellar styles and often times, you find the right thing. Usually, I have to be in the mood though.

One of my favorite places to shop around the Bay. I love their point system...you can always save so much by buying there and if you are in their club. Yes, they don't have dressing rooms, but that's not a big deal for me...I could change anywhere. We are all unique and we need to be comfortable of our bodies, so that shouldn't be a problem.  Theirs deals are sick! You can find everything at reduced prices...you can save 50-75% from regular stores, plus, when they have sales you can save with their point system, up to 20% off of your entire purchase:) I definitely recommend this store!

Hit or Miss...
A few times they still had items that I saw in boutiques concurrently (but of course 40% off)
I bought my first Ferragamo bag at this store 10 years ago, so to me Loehmanns rock.  Loehmanns is a discount store of boutiques/Neiman Marcus compared to what TJ MAXX is to a Macy's.  You kind of get it?  Well, only like 1/4 of Loehmanns is comparable to the brands at Neimans.  I have gotten a few Marc Jacob pieces (4 seasons later) but nevertheless cute and half off.  I used to find a lot of things at this place when I lived across the street and went there about 4 times a week during my after dinner walk.  Now, if you go randomly....it's always a surprise depends on what you score or don't score.  But way better than the one in Milpitas..that one is just yucky.  But one advantage in Milpitas is that they have about 10-20 private dressing rooms in addition to their famous "open" one versus Cupertino, which only has 2 and you often find yourself being stared at by people waiting in line for the rooms.

Sunnyvale's best kept secret! You can find designer brands at half the price! If you go a week before your bday you get an extra discount (i think its 20%)! Just be prepared to dig  a little! Not as much as you would at Marshalls or TJ Maxx!  They have all of the designer denim, harajuku, free people, juicy, fcuk! all of it!!!!

This Loehmann's sucks ass...literally, the stuff is shitty looking, torn, dirty, ugly....such a disaster in this one...now the one in Irvine is great, but this one really sucks...Nordstrom Rack on Saratoga Ave is way better, I mean wayyyyyy better!

If you have the patience you will be able to find some lovely bargains at Loehmann's. I've bought many evening gowns for less than $50 with an original price of almost $300. They sell designer stuff at reduced prices and if you catch their sales, you can get even better bargains. Another location in San Francisco on Sutter Street.

This place made me walk out it scratching my head.  Was it a wannabe Nordstrom Rack or a Marshall's?  It has an odd configuration with the registers/customer service are all located in the back of the store, not right by the exit doors.  Weird, weird place with a very limited amount of men's clothes.

Loehmann's has a good selection of clothes, and when I was there yesterday a lot of stuff had additional mark-downs plus 50% off that. If you have the time to pick through all the racks you can find some great deals. The shoe selection wasn't great though - not a lot of inventory there (but perhaps I was on an off day). The huuuuge plus over Nordstrom Rack (at least the ones in SF/Daly City) is that the shoes are tied together. I've died a little on the inside after finding only one awesome shoe in NRack and not being able to find its mate anywhere. I wouldn't have that problem here from what I could tell.  Nice selection of jeans though - no 7's, but they had Joes ($70-99), True Religion ($99), and Hudson ($80 I think) readily available.  And they had some really weak looking Joe's on a sale rack for dirt cheap, and a pair of True Religions for $50 I passed up - they were white and had an odd pink streak down each leg.

This Loehmann's is obviously a lot smaller than the one downtown SF, but it wasn't mayhem on Saturday which was a big plus. I only had to wait a few minutes for a private dressing room (whew).

Don't tell too many people about this place or they'll get all the good stuff before I do!  ; )  The best advice is to get in kahoots with the salespeople so they will tell you when the new inventory is coming in.  Loehman's is the best place to find those cool Rodeo Drive looking pieces that can truly add special flourish to your wardrobe. Only downside are the dressing rooms.  You can come out blinded by what you see in there.  Oy!
