A group of us were at Lodgepole Campground June 18th-22nd 2007 we stayed at campsite 174 which seemed to me to be the largest and private, which we loved! we were able to put 3 tents in our site
two 4 men tents and one 2 men. If your camping with a large group I would suggest 174 however, there not very close to the restrooms. We saw two deers walk right next to our campground, great for pictures! Also, I saw campsite 101 which looked really nice it was shady right next to the river and private we are thinking of staying at 101 next time to try it out. I have to say those two were my favorite sites after looking around. We took a hike on Topeka falls trail which was worth the walk to see the waterfall and saw a bear on our way back. It was perfect weather around 74 and the nights were a lot colder then I thought. I would love to return to Lodgepole soon and would recommend it to anyone! just make sure you reserve your site early because they get booked up quick! The only thing disspointing was the river it was small and I've always loved buckeye campground for it's swimming so If you got kids interested in swimming all day Buckeye would be the place however, if your just looking to relax and camp Lodgepole is perfect. It's also great to have a general store nearby when we ran out of ice and for the occasional ice cream :) hope this review helps thoughs thinking about visiting Lodgepole, it's a beautiful place to camp!
